Steven Spielberg's 1975 classic has finally received the 4K treatment it so greatly deserves. For Universal's 100th anniversary, a new negative was created and released on blu-ray. My assumption is that the 4K transfer used this new negative to make this latest edition. The colors are crisp, the grain is present (as it should be), and the richness of the image has never looked better in a digital presentation. JAWS has never looked this good on a home video format. Think of this comparison: when the 35mm prints were struck in 1975 and run through the projector for the first time. That's how good this looks. I'd say that this release is near perfect except for the new 5.1 stereo mix for the audio. This was redone at some point after the year 2000 and the old mono track was replaced, which I think is far superior because original foley and sound effects were used. Gunshots, thuds, and loud sounds are replaced now by more modern sound effects. Not a big fan of that, but it's a nitpick at best. Extras are carried over from previous releases, including Laurent Bouzereau's excellent doc on the making of the film. Plus, the new steelbook packaging makes this essential for any home video format fanatic.

Having watched this movie a billion times in the 80's, and as someone from coastal MA, this disc blew my mind. The Dolby Vision from previous formats is...unreal. You could honestly pause any scene, frame it and then mount it over your fireplace. Must buy...100%. The steelbook is great as well. The picture shown doesn't do it justice. In your hands, it looks great and has a cool finish to it.

I first saw this movie when I was a kid on vacation at the beach when I was young. I loved watching it with my kids.

Look, you probably already know about this film, and whether you enjoyed it or not. It's a classic film and many probably own a version of it in some format. So isvit worth the upgrade to 4k? Absolutely. The steelbox version is a cool touch, but the real prize is the 4k rendering. This film looks so much better than it's predecessors. This is borderline reference quality. The sound is amazing and the picture has corrected so many of the films bland color and shadow issues of the past. I enjoyed the film even more in 4k so what else could you ask for? If you're a fan of this great piece of cinema this is the best version you can purchase. Highly recommended.

The Date was June 20, 1975. The year an unknown Movie plagued with Mechanical problems for a fellow named Bruce Who was born to Hollywood. When it was released Going to the beach would be changed forever. With a simple haunting sound track that made it synonymous with not going into the water. Add a still Up and coming Young Director making a name for himself. That movie is Jaws, and his name is Steven Spielberg. Enough said. It Puts all the other shark movies to bed. Grandfather of them all and reason why no remake has been attempted. It was and still does scare the daylights out every generation since that’s watched this masterpiece of Film. Glad they made a 4K version for the next generation to Appreciate it. Many Thanks again Mr.Spielberg for the Magic.

Jaws is a CLASSIC, and I've seen it in the theaters on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray. I have to say I was not completely impressed with the Blu-ray restoration. The picture was much improved from DVD, but to me, it lacked in sound. So I was guardedly excited when I heard about this remaster. WOW! I was so impressed with the visual aspect of the movie. The movie was markedly clearer and sharper than it's ever been, but the most impressive part was the Dolby Atmos soundtrack. I heard mutterings I've never heard in all the times I've watched the movie. I recommend this movie for a few reasons: 1. It's a great, timeless movie 2. The 4K remaster brings out the color and clarity we've never seen in this movie 3. The soundtrack is the best it's ever been, maybe the clearest I've ever heard in an older movie.

The 4K UHD version is not as great as I hoped, but better than I feared.

In my humble opinion (what do I know?) JAWS is the greatest movie ever made. It was a combination of talent, happy accidents, not-so-happy accidents, and filmmakers at the top of their creative peaks that resulted in a truly magical film. Presented in 4K, the film is the best it will probably ever look. Wondered what it was like to see JAWS on June 20, 1975? Here you go. The sound mix is built off of the one done around the year 2000 which features modern sound effects like knife hits and gunshots. Not a fan to say the least but I'll take it. This 4K package includes a reprint of the booklet from the DVD special edition which featured that sound mix for the first time. Highly recommended for fans of classic films, Spielberg, or just good stuff in general!
