The great thing about old movies is that they are shot on film, so they can have true 4k digital intermediates. This film is no exception. It is truly a beautiful remaster of one of the greatest and iconic movies of all time. I wont get into the movie, im sure all of you have already seen it. But I will talk about the A/V quality.
Holy smokes! Dolby vision really brings out the depth of colors and details that I have never seen before. The atmos track is good, but dont expect reference quality Atmos sound from this.
This is a MUST own for physical media fans out there.

I loved Jaws as a kid. It was suspenseful with wonderful characters. Spielberg knows how to tell a story and, more importantly, he knows how to develop the relationships with the characters in very charming ways. (I’m thinking of the scene at the dinner table with Brody’s young son.) This was the movie that spawned my son’s love of sharks. Even though the shark’s behavior is far-fetched, especially for Shark Week fans, it is a great movie. Spielberg did not have the technology there is today, but he pulled off an iconic masterpiece. Holds up beautifully even after so many years!

A Perfect Restoration

THIS is how you restore a film to 4K. I love seeing older movies re-released on 4K, but not every transfer is a home run (e.g. Terminator 2). The blu-ray version of Jaws already looks great, but this 4K edition really transports the viewer back to the summer of 1975 when the shark first dominated theaters. The movie itself is a classic; and I’m sure you’re not reading this for a review of the film. Grain is intact but not overbearing, and the balance of the iconic sound effects and John William’s masterful score is perfect. I would highly recommend picking this up.

Jaws is one of the definitive films of the 1970s, featuring a timeless theme of man versus nature handled by one of the most influential directors, Steven Spielberg. I have seen Jaws in nearly every home video format, from NTSC on VHS and DVD to 1080p on blu-ray and now 4K. Arguably, the greatest improvement was going from blu-ray to 4K. The sound and picture of this UltraHD release are stunning. The steelbook packaging offers a worthy keepsake that will hold up better than the regular cheap plastic cases, and has better artwork.

I remember the first time I saw Jaws as a kid. The scene that sticks in my mind is the shot of the sinking boat. The film established its rules so clearly that I could just feel the shark swimming around in the water. What Spielberg did was challenge the audience to use our imagination. Human imaginations are more terrifying than any rubber monster. But the rubber monster is pretty dang good too. The whole movie is. And so are the entertaining features. Witness a classic. Witness the birth of a genius filmmaker to the masses. (By the way, have a double feature and watch Spielberg's "Duel" back to back with Jaws for maximum effect. Watch "Duel" first and then "Jaws.")

JAWS STILL HAS THE BITE!

JAWS, Steven Spielberg's action packed masterpiece remains a motion picture every film buff should own, and an absolute must in 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray.
This is still a nail-biting edge of your seat action thriller from beginning to end, and the great white shark (Bruce) is as real as one can imagine.
What's an even bigger treat is a highly interesting documentary extra about the making of this film masterpiece, and it's worth the affordable price of replacing your former film copy, as a second Blu ray disc is included.

JAWS is a classic. No doubt. I hadn't seen it in years. I did enjoy rewatching it, and I have little doubt that this 4K UHD presentation is the best it has ever looked. My disappointment is perhaps due largely to the glowing reviews online from professionals who adore the film. For them, seeing it look so clean and detailed was enough, and deserving of high praise. What I found was that the HDR was lacking here. It looked like another good transfer, but lacking HDR specular highlights. Maybe it wasn't graded at a very high nit level, or the highlights were not bumped in order to attain the original theater-like presentation. If that were the case, then a 4K HDR presentation only brings minor improvements over a 1080p Blu-ray since the resolution doesn't make that much of a difference to most people given the size of their display and the distance they sit from it, along with their visual acuity. Some color improvements could be gained, but that's it. Don't get me wrong. It looks good. It probably is an improvement over the 1080p Blu-ray, but not a huge one. Still, at the price point, and for the bonus features, it's not a bad deal, especially if you don't own the previous Universal 1080p Blu-ray disc.

Jaws is a film that deserves honorable mention alongside other cinema greats. This film single-handedly launched the careers of Steven Spielberg as a bankable director and Richard Dreyfuss as a legitamet up and coming actor. The plot may be considered simplistic and straight-forward, but is still solid. Jaws' special effects are out dated compared to today's industry standards, but such is the inevitable fate of all cinema.
The film is well cast and the acting is superb. Aside from a few adult themed words, I would consider this film suitable for teenagers who are able to handle such dialog in a mature fashion. At the end of the day, Jaws is still just as enjoyable of a film in 2014, and beyond, as it was back in 1975.

The 4K version of Jaws is the definitive version to own. The film has been remastered from a 4K scan. There’s still a bit of film grain in certain scenes, but the film has never looked better. John William’s score is amazing in Dolby Atmos and will really show off your home theater set up if it’s Dolby Atmos capable. Most of the extras on the disc have been released before, but there’s still many hours of content. Must own for Jaws fans.

Fantastic 4k version of a great classic movie.
Very little grain in the transfer to 4k and thankfully the picture is still sharp and hasn't had an over use of digital noise reduction ala Terminator 2.
The only downside of the wonderfully sharp presentation is that it does tend to show the flaws in the mechanical shark used to make the movie.
The amount of bonus material is staggering while being a welcome and interesting addition.
The Steelbook is really nice as well.

A classic remastered! My son had been begging me to watch this but all we had was old DVD (seems funny to even think that, but with 4k tv, it's true) and I didn't want his first Jaws experience to be pixelated and low quality. So the timing on us finding this was great. I honestly didn't dig into the special features so there could be some new (ish) type scenes or footage not released prior to Blu-ray, but not sure on that.
If you have never watched this movie, make sure you watch a good enough quality version to really enjoy it!

The update to 4K UHD HDR Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos makes this release of JAWS the definite set to own. The addition of the Dolby Vision really helps bring out colors especially the scenes filmed on the water where many colors were washed out. John Williams score and the sound effects are given more life with the Dolby Atmos.
The movie itself you probably are quite familiar with so there isn't a point in discussing plot/etc.
If you are a fan of the movie, this is the MUST OWN version!

This is by far the best version of JAWS that has ever been released.
The 4K is just stunning and has never looked better before.
The previous Blu-ray that was released by Universal did look good as it was restored, but this, on the 4K TVs, wow.
The overall package is great with the lenticular outer sleeve that houses the 4K disc/Blu-ray, then you have the very nice booklet all about the movie with pictures.
Comes with a Digital copy also.
Highly recommended for those above the age of 12.

To put it succinctly, this is one of the best movies ever made, so it is only appropriate that it receive royal treatment. The transfer is fantastic, based off of the 2012 restoration, which was done for a second-to-none BD as it is (which is also included in this set). The packaging is also great (I used custom artwork of the original poster art), although the shipping packaging was insufficient for protection (I got lucky... the only crease looks to have been done at the factory). Get it while you can!

The reason why I avoid the ocean...
I love what Steven Spielberg was able to achieve in 1975 & with a 9 million budget...& when you watch the Making of doc you'll understand.
I don't have time to explain plot or AV specifics, just trust me, the movie came out in 1975 & the restoration looks crisp, sharp & amazing!
Make sure you buy this version of the movie for the extra features or you can buy the Digi book release if you can find it.
My only complaint is that they could have made a couple new featurettes (besides The Shark is Still Working which came out in '07 or the Restoration) & maybe a Commentary.

This is by far the most pristine version I’ve ever seen! I have seen Jaws in every format released to date and the 4K version was definitely worth the wait. The movie keeps the cinematic viewing feel to it and I thought as I was watching it how lucky I was to view it as it had been intended to be seen in pristine condition as if seeing it for the first time. The details and colors pop, it was exciting to discover new things I have never seen before

Classic Spielberg. Good story that never lulls, excellent pacing. Fabulous acting by a very talented cast. The interaction & later the camaraderie between the 3 principles is absolutely amazing. Robert Shaw's story of the U.S.S. Indianapolis is compelling, eerie & frightening. Spielberg keeps you on edge with several moments of horror coupled with suspenseful moments. He interjects enough humor at the right times that assist in pacing without becoming a lark. There is also some excellent "high adventure" on the ocean mixed in. A must see movie. Highly entertaining. At the price I got it at, go get it.

A great horror movie. A great family movie. Great acting, great cast, great music score. Unique in its explanation and release to the world of The USS Indianapolis ship and the story behind it. In fact one of Peter Benchley employees called off work the day after Jaws was premiered. She never knew how her son passed in WW2. This was top secret until Stephen Spielberg was allowed to place this information into his movie. No other shark movie comes close to this movie.

I love Jaws, and I think if you are like me you will buy this 4K release! I also suggest checking the digital releases since those also look comparable to the Bluray and I sometimes watch my digital version just because it's more convenient and also looks really good.
Can it look better? Sure. And I hope we will get a better transfer down the line, but for now this is the best this movie looks and sounds!
