Steven Spielberg's 1975 blockbuster masterpiece has never looked better. Sublime 4k restoration! This is the definitive release of JAWS and a must own. The simple, clean SteelBook design is gorgeous as well.

There is zero need for reviewing such an epic film. Fact: My family watches Jaws as an annual tradition while on vacation at the beach. You’re welcome.

This is my all time FAVORITE MOVIE. I saw this when I was abt 9.. and it’s been my favorite movie ever since. It’s made me love sharks. I’m 17 now and I’ve seen a lot of movies... and nothing has ever topped this. This movie is a true masterpiece. The score is amazing. The actors are amazing, there is so much suspense- even when there is practically nothing happening, you still get chills. Robert, Roy, and Richard did SUCH an amazing job in this movie. I have chills when they see the shark for the first time, the way they acted makes it truly an amazing scene. I will NEVER get tired of this movie. And if you haven’t seen it, LITERALLY GO WATCH IT NOWWW! lol. I’m in love with the score as well, John Williams is a genius and he is truly a talented man. This is the best score for any movie ever in my opinion. I don’t think anything will top it. This is just such a powerful movie, Steven Spielberg did an AMAZING job directing this. It’s just... a masterpiece.

Having watched this movie a billion times in the 80's, and as someone from coastal MA, this disc blew my mind. The Dolby Vision from previous formats is...unreal. You could honestly pause any scene, frame it and then mount it over your fireplace. Must buy...100%. The steelbook is great as well. The picture shown doesn't do it justice. In your hands, it looks great and has a cool finish to it.

JAWS gets the deluxe 4K treatment

This is by far the best version of JAWS that has ever been released. The 4K is just stunning and has never looked better before. The previous Blu-ray that was released by Universal did look good as it was restored, but this, on the 4K TVs, wow. The overall package is great with the lenticular outer sleeve that houses the 4K disc/Blu-ray, then you have the very nice booklet all about the movie with pictures. Comes with a Digital copy also. Highly recommended for those above the age of 12.

    The Greatest Presentation Yet

    |

In my humble opinion (what do I know?) JAWS is the greatest movie ever made. It was a combination of talent, happy accidents, not-so-happy accidents, and filmmakers at the top of their creative peaks that resulted in a truly magical film. Presented in 4K, the film is the best it will probably ever look. Wondered what it was like to see JAWS on June 20, 1975? Here you go. The sound mix is built off of the one done around the year 2000 which features modern sound effects like knife hits and gunshots. Not a fan to say the least but I'll take it. This 4K package includes a reprint of the booklet from the DVD special edition which featured that sound mix for the first time. Highly recommended for fans of classic films, Spielberg, or just good stuff in general!

    The best shark doo doo

I know it is controversial to say, but Jaws may be one of the best shark movies ever made, dare I say second best after Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre (note: do NOT watch Sharkansas.) In all seriousness the best shark movie ever is Quint’s story about the sinking of the Indianapolis. Robert Shaw makes it absolutely riveting and terrifying. So if there are any issues with the film it is two things the first is that at times the music is so jaunty it feels like it’d fit better in The Goonies. The other thing is it could use more Quint. Shaw owns every frame he is in, it is one of the most captivating performances in cinema. It holds up perfectly 45 years later. It is a real shame Shaw died three years later as most actors would love to have a role with Quint’s staying power and he never even had a chance to get a hint of his legacy. The 4K transfer does what it can but it can only do so much with all the daylight scenes and murky water. The night and underwater scene do really shine. It is still the best looking version I’ve seen. Jaws is about as perfect as films come, especially the back half which is the most engaging three dudes on a boat have ever been. The disc has some great special features and the included booklet has some great photos and information. The lenticular packaging looks super sharp.

    Best 4K movie

I could hardly wait to see Jaws in 4K! I was not disappointed! This is by far the most pristine version I’ve ever seen! I have seen Jaws in every format released to date and the 4K version was definitely worth the wait. The movie keeps the cinematic viewing feel to it and I thought as I was watching it how lucky I was to view it as it had been intended to be seen in pristine condition as if seeing it for the first time. The details and colors pop, it was exciting to discover new things I have never seen before! You see the stamp of the brand of fishing pole Quint uses to hook the shark in great detail along with the fingerprints on the fishing pole handle and the fishing line. The “unofficial” falling star scenes are absolutely stunning in their clarity and stand out. I saw the shark bites in the Orca for the first time ever. The coat that the Mayor wears is pristine in detail. The labels on the bottles of alcohol are legible as are the details of the swimmers swimsuits. I could go on and on about my discoveries in this 4K version. Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg have done an amazing job of restoring Jaws for this presentation in 4K! This is an absolute must have for your collection and a must see!

    A Perfect Restoration

THIS is how you restore a film to 4K. I love seeing older movies re-released on 4K, but not every transfer is a home run (e.g. Terminator 2). The blu-ray version of Jaws already looks great, but this 4K edition really transports the viewer back to the summer of 1975 when the shark first dominated theaters. The movie itself is a classic; and I’m sure you’re not reading this for a review of the film. Grain is intact but not overbearing, and the balance of the iconic sound effects and John William’s masterful score is perfect. I would highly recommend picking this up.

The great thing about old movies is that they are shot on film, so they can have true 4k digital intermediates. This film is no exception. It is truly a beautiful remaster of one of the greatest and iconic movies of all time. I wont get into the movie, im sure all of you have already seen it. But I will talk about the A/V quality. Holy smokes! Dolby vision really brings out the depth of colors and details that I have never seen before. The atmos track is good, but dont expect reference quality Atmos sound from this. This is a MUST own for physical media fans out there.

Add Jaws 4K Steelbook to Your Collection

Jaws is one of the definitive films of the 1970s, featuring a timeless theme of man versus nature handled by one of the most influential directors, Steven Spielberg. I have seen Jaws in nearly every home video format, from NTSC on VHS and DVD to 1080p on blu-ray and now 4K. Arguably, the greatest improvement was going from blu-ray to 4K. The sound and picture of this UltraHD release are stunning. The steelbook packaging offers a worthy keepsake that will hold up better than the regular cheap plastic cases, and has better artwork.

Beach Closed - Amity Police Dept

One of the best films ever made, even though it was released in 1975 - it's a timeless masterpiece, like Godfather 1 & 2. Although it put a lot of irrational fear in people in regard to Sharks, I believe most of the facts in the film are still proven correct about sharks. Quint's piece about the USS Indianapolis is close enough for Hollywood for historical accuracy, and encouraged me to research further - tragic event of the Pacific Theater. FYI - the consensus of science in the early 20th century told the public sharks were no threat to humans in the water - groupthink at its finest.

4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos makes JAWS lifelike!

The update to 4K UHD HDR Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos makes this release of JAWS the definite set to own. The addition of the Dolby Vision really helps bring out colors especially the scenes filmed on the water where many colors were washed out. John Williams score and the sound effects are given more life with the Dolby Atmos. The movie itself you probably are quite familiar with so there isn't a point in discussing plot/etc. If you are a fan of the movie, this is the MUST OWN version!

    JAWS STILL HAS THE BITE!

JAWS, Steven Spielberg's action packed masterpiece remains a motion picture every film buff should own, and an absolute must in 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray. This is still a nail-biting edge of your seat action thriller from beginning to end, and the great white shark (Bruce) is as real as one can imagine. What's an even bigger treat is a highly interesting documentary extra about the making of this film masterpiece, and it's worth the affordable price of replacing your former film copy, as a second Blu ray disc is included.

The Best Presentation of JAWS Yet... Almost

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.

Steven Spielberg's 1975 classic has finally received the 4K treatment it so greatly deserves. For Universal's 100th anniversary, a new negative was created and released on blu-ray. My assumption is that the 4K transfer used this new negative to make this latest edition. The colors are crisp, the grain is present (as it should be), and the richness of the image has never looked better in a digital presentation. JAWS has never looked this good on a home video format. Think of this comparison: when the 35mm prints were struck in 1975 and run through the projector for the first time. That's how good this looks. I'd say that this release is near perfect except for the new 5.1 stereo mix for the audio. This was redone at some point after the year 2000 and the old mono track was replaced, which I think is far superior because original foley and sound effects were used. Gunshots, thuds, and loud sounds are replaced now by more modern sound effects. Not a big fan of that, but it's a nitpick at best. Extras are carried over from previous releases, including Laurent Bouzereau's excellent doc on the making of the film. Plus, the new steelbook packaging makes this essential for any home video format fanatic.

What can you say about Jaws? Plenty. One of the greatest thriller movies of all time and even better in glorious 4K UHD. The remastered picture is absolutely stunning, the best it has ever looked, and the Dolby Atmos 7.1 sound is superb. Love this film and love the limited steel book release. Fans of this movie should absolutely own this version as you should be amazed.
