My first let down by Jaybird

When I first bought these, I thought they were great. By far, these are one of the best sounding wireless headphones I've owned to date. I have owned the X1 and the X2 by Jaybird and bought these because I lost my X2. My X1 lasted almost 2 years which is why I stayed with Jaybird. Not only is the sound great, but the light weight of these is great while running. I rarely had issues with these falling out of my ears even though I did not use the attachable ear pieces to hold them in. My only complaint had been the weight of the control piece. It is slightly heavy comparably to the whole setup. This did make it slightly uncomfortable on one ear. However, now after owning this product since May 7,2017, the device is failing. I noticed about two weeks ago, I was losing bluetooth connection when I would advance a song using the controls on it. I am unable to pair the device back until hours later. Now, the device fails to charge past 60%. 3 months use out of a $100 plus set of earbuds. Seriously, not what you should expect. Hope this doesn't happen to you. I am currently trying to do a warranty claim, however, there is no obvious method for submitting a claim. I will update if I ever make progress!

Yes, like others complain, they don't always stay firmly in my ears when I run if I let the control hang from my ear. You have to use the little clips and run the cords behind your ears. If they start to crackle or hum, they just probably need to be reset by turning them off or doing a factory reset (read the instructions) like I had to do on mine. If they're not pairing make sure when you turn them on, you press the on button for a full four seconds and they will search for your device. (Again, read the instructions). You need to use the (((App))) with these head phones or your not hearing all the volume or all the highs and lows!!! Take your time and experiment with the app to get the best sound. I like boosted up highs and lows and only up a little on the mids. I like the silicone ear tips since they seem to seal better in my ears and I can really feel the bass. Yes, the little clip on battery charger is a pain and I've been lucky not to have lost it yet. But because the headphones sound so good I will forgive that and try to keep track of it. I think there the best headphones I've ever owned, wired or Bluetooth.

    Great Bluetooth Headphones

This review replaces a previous 3-star review that unfortunately I can't edit or delete. Initially when I tried to wear these wrapped over-the-ear the volume control module flopped around on the right side, and the left side's cable kept moving in front of my ear. Another reader posted a suggestion that I use the included attachable cord adjusters to shorten the overall length. I'd already tried, but the reader included a video link with instructions on how to do it properly. I tried again and got it right. Now I'm in Bluetooth headphone heaven :-) The sound is excellent once tweaked with the companion app. I hadn't realized when I purchased these that I could have them connected to my AppleTV >and< iPhone simultaneously -- now I hear alert sounds or incoming call notifications from my iPhone while watching TV. Wow. Excellent headphones, but they're overpriced. For $150, I'd give them 5 stars, knocked off a star because of the $200 price tag.

I took my time before buying a new set of headphones, I found this one attractive and as a new Jaybird costumer(usually im a bose user) I decided to give them a try. The design is nice and colors attractive, not as bulky in the ear as other headphones(like does crazy guys working out at the gym with beats) I was pleased at the beginning, with nice sound but have to say it was hard to find the perfect fit since the control piece is heavy and pull the set down, but after experimenting I found the perfect fit and worked for me while running, and at the gym but not for long. Sound is nice and clear and the app makes easy to customize different settings for your music. NOW THE BAD I brought this headphones at the end of sept and the so call comfort eartips just cracked and broke into pices, I use already 2 sets and both with same result , so this is poor quality, then the silicone tips are horrible, they slide out of my ear so often that makes me mad, I have to readjusted when im running or even when im just weight lifting. Also battery add extra weight to the headphones and if you are not careful can be lost easy. In general could be a good product but the flaws in quality in something as simple as an eartip says a lot to me

I went to Best Buy to look at the Jaybird X3 headphones, but when I saw the small form profile of the Freedoms I was intrigued. I was replacing a pair of Bose Sound Sports that my dog had just chewed to pieces. I've had about an hour listening to the Jaybird Freedoms and the sound is beyond fantastic. Clear, clean and powerful. The accompanying smart phone app is what makes these really shine, however. Unlike the Bose phone app, you can adjust the sound equalization and completely customize the audio profile. What I really like is that there are a ton of pre-configured sound profiles for different audio/musical tastes that you can try. Selecting between the different options is like putting on a completely different set of headphones. The fit is great. They come with a wide sample of ear pieces, and wings to ensure a secure fit. With the regular rubber ear cups the sound isolation is almost unreal. They block out EVERYTHING! In short, I love them. I also want to make a special shout out to Ben at the Natick, MA Best Buy! He worked with my son and I for almost 40 minutes as we shopped for the headphones and a Fitbit and he was beyond fantastic and spent a lot of time with my son and myself on the sale.

The jaybird freedoms are a very good pair of earphones. They fit comfortably in the ear and they are light weight. They are sweatproof and last 8 hours. I do like the ear fins as they do make a better fit. The control dongle is a bit on the heavy side but with the ear fins and shirt clip it prevents it from falling to one side. The carry pouch is very convenient. The only negative thing I would have to say about them is the way you charge them. It comes with a little battery pack that you put on the back of the earphones and plug into a micro USB cable into the wall plug. You have to be careful as not to lose them. For you can't charge them without it. Overall a good set of earphones to use on the daily basis. Also you can change the way your music sounds with the jaybird app. It has different presets or you can customize it yourself.

Nice lightweight earbuds, though they do have a few issues. The ear fin and bud tip as they are individual pieces frequently fall off if you are not careful. When you switch the earbuds on. Don't have them in your ear because they are extremely loud. Loud voice says power on, battery whatever percent. And then connected to phone.it is very annoying, you can't lower the volume of this at all. Also you can separate the extended battery from the headphone, but it is very small and very easy to loose. If you lose it you have no way of recharging the headphones. On a positive 4 hours and an extra 4 hours charge when removable battery is connected. So you can get a whole day at the office listening to music. Headphones does switch off when you clip on the extended battery so you have to switch it back on again. The earbuds are very small and compact in your ear. You would forget that you are wearing them. Even hours later. So that's great. Compared to other wireless earbuds I've used these are great. Yes there are a few issues but also many positives. I'd recommend them to as anyone.

the sound on these was pretty impressive. but, at $200, i'm just not sure it's worth it, especially if jaybird is moving away from the lifetime sweat warranty that was the real value proposition of these previously. i had a bit of trouble getting a good fit even though these were so small. the wings ended up being a detriment (versus, say, the silicone wings on the bose IEMs, which are much more comfortable). that said, once fitted, they were very enjoyable. i laced the cord over my ears, and they didn't move around very much at all. sound isolation was ok--but didn't drown out the noise of my lawnmower as well as traditional IEMs usually would. maybe not a bad thing if you're using these for running. overall, to justify the $200 price, these needed to be the ultimate IEM for any number of tasks, but they weren't. still, they were very good, especially the sound. i liked the jaybird sound app a lot, too. a lot of this is nitpicking, and i think that a lot of people would be happy with them. i would've been happy with them too if they were more competitively priced. but, for $200, i was compelled to keep looking.

Reading reviews, I thought the sound quality would be much better. Bass sounds lifeless. Far from a “rich sound” I saw in another review. The little charger thing you have to clip to the unit to charge is a bad idea. I can see people easily misplacing it. Wish you could just plug directly into it, but that would mean the size of the power on and volume unit would need to be thicker. Still, the space saving to me is a design flaw. Doesn’t come with a wall plug; just a short usb cable. On the Pro side: The storage pouch is nice. As long as you keep the charger plug thingy in it? You should be ok. The headphones are light and you can’t feel them on... until they start to hurt your ears. I fixed the discomfort by changing the ear things from what the come with to the smaller size. Decent unit for the $49.99 sale price.

I have never been one, that likes to spend big money on headphones. I got these on black Friday. I opened them and 1st thing I noticed is this weight. They are not heavy by any means. I was just expecting cheap plastic, jaybird uses a metal. I Am not kidding the build quality is great. But the most important part of this review is the sound. And IT GOOD OUT OF THE BOX. These headphones recommend you to download their app on your phone. Once that's done, you can can adjust the bass, treble, and etc. It also shows you on your phone your battery status. So your never guessing when the music is going to stop. The battery life is about 2 and half hours. It does come with usb charging hub. Which is like a spare battery. You could connect it the headphones as you listen to music and that would give you the 4 hours of power. But I really don't like doing that, because that charging base is the only means to charge the headphones. SO YOU LOSE IT, NO MORE CHARGING THE JAYBIRDS. But that being said, they're great. And at 50 they are a steal. The freedom f5 by jaybird, truly give you a premium sound and quailty.

I bought these headphones for running, for which they work usually. I've found even with the best fitting ear pieces, I have to adjust them every once in a while when running. If I run hard or sprint, they just bounce out of my ear, which is quite annoying. The left one doesn't seem to have an issue, but weight of the battery on the right side seems to wiggle it loose. The battery is ok, just have to remember to charge it after a few runs. I don't use the added batterypack, it just adds to the weight on the right side. The bluetooth however, can cut out sometimes particularly if you cover the source with a hand. The sound is rather disappointing actually. Despite a lot of effort with the tuner app for it, it still sounds a bit tinny, sometimes hollow. And I've noticed songs with a lot of bass, just start to sound a little distorted. After the reviews I read, I thought the sound would be a huge increase over my current headphones, but it actually has lower sound quality than my stock $40 Apple headphones. Overall, they work most of the time for what I need them for. But, the price is pretty high for what you actually get with them.

I was a bit unsure about these at first because I've never had any real luck with earbuds staying in my ears while working out. My ears are small and even the smallest tips never work for me. I was pleasantly surprised with the Jaybirds. Not only do they sound great, but they stayed in during my whole workout. I use the foam tips and the wings. They fit great and are very comfortable, and the foam tip really helps to block the outside noise. They do not advertise as noise canceling but they do a pretty good job of it. My only complaint is the battery. It advertises at 8 hours which is not really true. It's really a four hour battery with an adapter than can get you another 4 hours. It weird wearing them with the adapter attached because one side becomes a bit heavier. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I think they should rethink that in the next model.

In the beginning I hated them, I had to take them back because they kept shutting off. I own 5 pairs of head phones by jaybird and these are by far my favorite and they are even louder due to the EQ app that accompanies this headphone. I got the white and gold because they match my iPhone 6s+ and all my other apple devices. The only draw back for me is that I wish that battery pack was white instead of black, called the company and they said they made all of the battery packs black because they didn't feel like matching the color but yet they charge xxxx amount I think that was a lazy action of their part plus their case that came with the headphones could of been a hard case like they use to offer. If a person is willing to spend $$$$$ on a product you should at least hit every corner instead of trying to save a few dollar on the product cost. I believe that if any consumer is going to put out a product they should give it their all. But in all I'm happy with them that's y they get 4 starts in stead of 5 from me

I don’t usually like earbud style headphones but decided to give these a try because they are wireless and were on sale for a great price! After using these multiple times, I really enjoy them! The sound quality is amazing, especially with the compatible app that lets you customize the sound of your music. These headphones also cancel outside noise which is another nice quality. I thought the wire connecting the earbuds would be bothersome, but it isn’t at all! The adjustable accessories that came with the headphones are wonderful as well, as I did have to go down a size in the silicone earbuds and the silicone place holders that sit in the ear. The only thing I don’t like about these is how cheap the charging clip feels. It’s cool how it works, but I feel as thought after using these for a long period of time, something is going to snap or the wire for the earbuds is going to break from separating the charging clip. I wish the charging method was more sturdy. Overall a great product for the price I got them at while on sale. Not sure if I would’ve bought them at full price though.

I bought a pair yesterday and right off the bat, I was impressed. I'm a previous owner of the Jaybird X2s (which I unfortunately lost), and I had waited months for these to come out. The sound quality is impeccable. The amount of bass that come out of these small buds are impressive given how small they are (metal casing btw). I also love the fact that they included Comply foam tips along with their standard silicone ones, definitely an added value. The only thing negative thing I would have to say is (besides the high price, needless to say), the wingtips do not fit/stay in my ears, no matter what size (s,m,l). However, it's not a deal breaker for me since they stay in my ears using the foam tips. Final verdict: Definitely worthy of a purchase if you can afford the high price.

These headphones are by far some of the best ones I've ever owned! The sound quality is excellent. The frequency range is awesome for very deep bass, great mid tones, and for very crisp high range sounds! The volume control on the ear piece and the Bluetooth functionality makes for easy control without having to reach for your device to turn it up or down, switch to the next track, or to answer/end a call!! I love these headphones. Also there isn't a lot of cable to get tangled all over the place which makes them practical. The round fasteners make it easy to clip the headphones around your neck when not in use or to make them contour around your head when in use. There are multifarious capabilities with the fasteners. The only complaints that I have are that the circular fasteners can pop off the cord if you're not careful, and the alligator clip can come loose and slide down the length of the cord. Other than losing the fasteners the alligator clip complaint is only a minor irritation. Highly recommend if you love your music and you want to be able to hear every word, note, and tone in the song!

I like these earphones for their great sound, light weight and very small size. It took me a while to get a precise fit behind my head with the cord length and cable clips. I tested the various included ear tips and the small silicon tips worked best for me. I later switched to the large foam tips for a better tight seal and improved sound quality; unfortunately after several uses the foam fell apart. Jaybird's support mailed out replacements to me. Im now using universal triple flange earphones tips bought separately and they provide simplicity of the silicon tips with comparable sound isolation/bass response of the foam tips. There is also a noticeable increase in volume. I highly suggest Freedom owners to try triple flange tips; its cheaper than Comply tips. Customization/optimization through the My Sound phone app is a must to get the best sound quality. Spend time with the EQ. The battery life without the clip charger avgs around 5 hrs at 75% loudness. I turned my phone volume to maximum then adjust the earphones.

These headphones have great sound. Being used to traditional headphones I wish the battery lasted longer, but it comes with a clip on charger that you can charge up, and then when your headphones get low clip it onto them without being plugged into anything. It also tells you what the battery is at when you turn them on, and it gives you a warning when it gets to 20% so you know it is getting low. Overall I really like them. The reason I didn't give them a higher rating is because the advertising is misleading. It was featured with the other colors of the same headphones, but the "special edition black" does not come with all of the fins and tips that the other Freedom headphones come with. Comes with 2 tips instead of 6, and 3 fins instead of 4. Checked the pictures, "specifications", "product details", "what's included", etc. Doesn't list a difference anywhere other than leaving out the picture that shows everything that is included with the other headphones. Should list them as separate headphones, or put this information in the details somewhere.

In my case I just want to listen to podcasts and work without my earphone wires snagging on something. I bought mine for $50 bucks when I wasn't fully comfortable with a truly wireless options I got for about $100. They'll take some experimenting with to get comfortable with, but there are sufficient accessories in the box to help you find the set up that works for you. There's a strong voice that that tells you when you power the buds on and off, when it connects to a device, what the battery charge is, etc. That's great. It's a bit loud and I don't know if this can be changed. In my case I use them as casual buds, and often stuff them in my pocket when I'm not using them. This can be irritating when I get a call and try to use my phone normally, even when they're still paired to the headphones. There are remedies to this. The accessories used to charge the device are portable and convenient -- I'm afraid of losing them, but one can take steps to make that less likely. Sound quality isn't as good as wired headphones.
