I have tried a few pairs of Bluetooth ear buds recently, and had two pairs of the X4's. They do sound great, and the fact the EQ can be adjusted is fantastic, it makes a difference, but not a huge one. The reason I went for the X4's over Bose was down to battery life and decent reviews. Bose appear to have a weak battery and most people I know get four hours out of them, well these are good for double or better. A week ago, I got a pair of X4's. Charged them up, played music, all good. Then the headset crackled a few times, and the Bluetooth would stall. Then it would not power off, My friend said to charge them to see if it would reboot them. It did not work, and then they would not power up. Back to BB. So, another week looking at reviews and such, decided to try them again. Charged up, tried them out briefly, all fine. So this morning at work, I am 20 ft. with a direct line of sight, guess what? Bluetooth keeps cutting in and out. Even when I am right next to them. It is pitiful. They fit great, look the part and cut out all the ambient noise around me, and they also cut out half of the music I am trying to listen to. I'd like to think there is a bad batch of green X4's at BB in Huntsville, and I am more than apprehensive to try another pair. All in all, I am very underwhelmed with the clarity of the BT and durability of the X4. More importantly, I'm going to waste another hour or so of my life that I cannot get back down to this product.

Finally, workout 'earphones' that survive sweat!

I have a wide variety of headphones and earphones, but these are the first Jaybirds I've owned and had the pleasure of using. Yes the in-style truly wireless earbuds that most people go for nowadays are ear pods, but they're not practical for working out especially with all the sweat generated. When I sweat, my entire shirt is drenched, that after the workout I change my shirt, and that shirt gets fully drenched as I'm cooling off. I want you to understand the amount of sweat generated. And this is why I've never enjoyed listening to music on runs, because nothing can handle my sweat. These Jaybird X4s have finally solved the problem. Being IPX7 Waterproof, sweat is nothing to them. I have other earphones that are water resistant or sweat proof that I feel aren't sufficient and get more wet than they should, and sometimes I feel a bit of an electric shock in my ears (not good I know), but so far the X4 has done wonders. No longer do I have to worry about them breaking, and about me worrying I'll get shocked in the ears. Also, they are very comfortable and don't easily fall out of my ears! I run a combination of trails and on the treadmill, and it always annoyed me when one side of the earbuds would come off while running, and I couldn't focus on my run as I was focused on making sure it wouldn't fall out of my ear or have to think about adjusting them. Keep your earpods for your commute to work or while working or in a coffee shop, but use your Jaybird X4 for your workouts.

So I've never owned any Jaybird headphones however I always read that these are good headphones with great sound. I'm normally a Bose or Sony kind of guy so these were a bit different. As far as wireless headphones go, I prefer all wireless earbuds. Main issue I have with these wired headphones is the sound/vibrations from the wire as it rubs against my neck. I have Jabra 65t's, Bose Soundsport and Sony WF-SP700N earbuds. All of which are really nice. Not a big fan of wired earbuds however these are quite nice. The eaerbuds come with the normal goodies; different sized earplugs, USB charging cable and a coin purse carrying case. As far as sound quality goes, I'm quite impressed with these. To date I like the sound from my Sony SP700's as they provide nice, punchy base. These aren't quite as punchy in that respect however the sound is bright and crisp. Overall, pretty nice headphones. As I haven't used Jaybirds previously, I can't really comment on how these are different from previous versions. However, if you're in the market for some wired "wireless" earbuds then these are a good choice.

I bought these to replace a pair of Bluebuds X which died suddenly after several years of good service. The sound is quite good, fit is much improved over the Bluebuds X (and over the Freedom which I had previously). These are the first Jaybirds I have owned where the fit has been both flawlessly comfortable and which do not come loose and do not require constant pressing back into my ears. So far I have only run with these on a treadmill a few times for thirty minutes or so at a time but they maintained fit and seal in my ears the entire time, something the Bluebuds X would not do with any combination of tips/wings. The X4 fit perfectly right out of the box with no adjustment. I do not like the cord management of the X4 as it leaves a sizeable loop of excess cord to protrude from the back of the neck. Also the cord material tends to stick to the back of my neck which prevents me from turning my head without pulling the buds out of my ears or constantly twiddling with the cord. There is a good chance this could be improved a lot by repositioning the eartips and running the cords over my ears instead of under but like all the Jaybirds, this pretty much obliterates the use of the inline mic to make calls. Finally the 4 inch charging cable is pretty ridiculous but should work well with a generic USB extension cable which you'd have to buy separately.

I will start by stating that prior to these Jaybirds I bought several different earphones. I first bought the Klipsch wired buds with the phone controls on the wire. These are VERY good earbuds but I wanted to try the wireless versions. I then bough the Sony WH 1000 X2 buds for inside use. However, I paid $250 for them and I thought they sounded "OK" but not worth $250. I still wanted to try some wireless earbuds and read a lot of the Jaybird X4's. I will say this, "to me" the Jaybirds easily sound better than the high price Sony headphones. I liked the Jaybirds so much better I returned the Sony's and use the Jaybird's exclusively now, inside the house as well as outside. The Jaybird App. is awesome and allows you to tailor the sound to what you like, whether that be bass heavy or a flat sound field. These ear buds sound awesome no matter what type of music you like. They are also incredibly comfortable to wear and offer many sizes of adjustment, including the soft padded foam ones that some people like. Battery life has also been incredible and was originally one of the reasons I was hesitant to buy wireless buds. Don't be afraid, the Jaybirds last a full 8 hours. I usually only have to charge them 1-2 times per week tops. They are also sweat proof and waterproof. These are a definite must have for anyone who loves music.

I’m somewhat of a Bluetooth headphone nut and ease of use, battery life and most importantly sound quality are very important to me. Equally important is feeling secure when you are wearing the headphones in your ears, not having to worry if they will fall out, not worrying about having to be careful etc. Battery life is also key and if you get all this along with water and sweat proof features, you have yourself a home run set of headphones. All this is present in the X4’s. Fitment options give you the ability to wear them over or under the ear and the various foam tip sizes included insure you have a secure, noise limiting fit in your ear. The X4’s are very comfortable and aren’t fatiguing wearing them for long periods of time. EQ is customizable with the app and they sound great. The only complaint I have and it’s a minor one is how they charge. Rather than having a micro usb on the headphones they charge by putting them on a proprietary connector that plugs into any usb charger, your pc etc to recharge. They charge quickly and it works well but I’m just afraid I might lose it then have an issue replacing it. They probably made this choice to save real estate on the headphones but I don’t like it. Despite that I still gave them 5 Stars...these are a great set of headphones and I would recommend them!

    Great headphones to replace X3

WARNING: This is going to be a comparison review. I got the Jaybird X4 as a replacement for my X3 (X3 was damaged so I was able to get credit towards my X4 by using the GeekSquad protection plan). They are very similar to the X3. A couple differences are mostly from what comes with the headphones themselves. The X4 doesn't have that little cube that shortens the headphones like the X3. The charger for the X4 is a single unit, unlike the X3 where the cable is detachable and can be used as a mirco-USB (although it's a VERY short cable). The clip for the X4 seems to be sturdier, since I went through about 2 of the X3 clips (Jaybird kindly sent me a one-time free replacement pouch with all the goodies that came with the one I bought). As for the sound quality, I can't say there's too much difference, I only bought them to use when working out. One thing I've experienced with the X4 is that when I tried to turn it off, if I accidentally lightly pressed one of the volume buttons, it'll go into the pairing mode, which can be a little irritating when trying to just turn off the headphones. Overall, they're great, no major complaints.

Light headphones perfect for an active lifestyle

I used these headphones primarily while working out at the gym or while doing physical activities at home in the yard. Being cordless and utilizing the Bluetooth was a relief. I could be a bit more free in my movements and be able to run around during my workouts more aggressively. These are nice light headphones and they hold a charge pretty well. My only negative for these is the comfort and fit. After wearing them for more than 30 minutes I had sore uncomfortable ears from the firm silicone. I have older Bose mie2 headphones and they have a soft silicone that stays in place and I can wear them for hours. Unfortunately this fit isn’t comfortable for long periods of time. I like the way they feel on my ears and stay in place though. I’m still trying to figure out whether I like the free part of the wiring to hang in the front of my neck or back. When hanging on the back of my neck I feel like it gets stuck or drags against my sweaty neck and then tugs at pulling out of my ear. Overall I like these and they’re a good buy. I do wish they had softer fitted ear pieces to hook into my ear and stay for hours on end. I like them and they look appealing to the eye as well. The connectivity via Bluetooth with my iPhone 6 Plus seems to be really good as well.

I am slightly disappointed in Jaybirds production of the x4. The sound quality and comfort are as expected which are not bad. The sound is very deep and rich and the buds are comfortable to wear and block out all ambient sound. The build quality seems a bit cheap and ordinary. I do not like how the ear tips are separate from the buds which makes it feel unsecure and hard to get the buds to fit the same on each side. I thought they would have upgraded this feature from the previous versions. Over time I think the wing tips will wear out and not stay put on the buds as they feel really thin. I do not like the charging cradle feature at all. I would rather have the universal usb-c charging dock for ear buds just in case I don't want to carry an additional charging cradle, So overall, as a Bluetooth earbud set it is fine for listening to music while lounging or working out. I just am not impressed with the whole design and production for something at this price point. There are better options if you want to reach into your pocket for this much.

Ive had the older versions and they worked great had them for many years and was very satisfied. The battery life was going down on a full charge they lasted two hours at most depending on volume level so i figured that it was time to get new updated versions. So I watched and read a lot of reviews and they all said how great they are sound quality, app features with equalizer, battery life, fast charging but none of the reviews mentioned how bad the connection is when you are outdoors. Inside they work great and are fine but as soon as you go outside they would start having a little skipping effect for split seconds. At first you think its probably just notifications coming in but then you realize its happening to many times. I've tried unpairing them and seeing if it was the music app then decide to search the web for info and all you see is how they had this issue with the previous model the x3's and have not fixed it with the x4's . For the price of these headphones this should not happen. It is pass my return date so I will have to live with them but if I can keep someone else from wasting there money then that is great.

    Jaybird vs JBL

I listen: Podcast, Music, Audiobook (Music> Electronic>Trance and subgenres) How often I use: Everyday around 7-8 hours Ear size: tiny (small) I used to have JBL mini and I used them ~ 3.5 years. For a change I bought PLT headphones and Jaybird X4. Specifically Youtube tech influencers were saying all the good things about X4 (they preferred X4 over Tarah Pro) so I said why not!. My experience: 1. Ear pain. I was using the smallest buds yet the pain was unbearable. 2. Unexpected Disconnections for no obvious reason. (sometimes 10 times in a minute) 3. Battery life is definitely lower than 6 hours. 4. The part with the buttons is heavy and pulls the left cable, it is very annoying to pull the left cord over and over again to balance it out. 5. Sound quality is not significantly different than JBL at least for the music that I am listening. Volume can go higher than JBL. 6. I did not see any benefit over using the app. Conclusion: Disappointed. I am returning the product.

I've owned many Bluetooth earbuds by many different manufacturers, I tend to go through them quickly due to the rugged environment of my job. When my last set of LG bids died, I borrowed my wife's Jaybird X3's. They were great, sturdy, long battery life. I decided to get a pair. When I did, only the new X4's were available. I thought they could only be better, but sadly that was wrong. The X4 battery life is, literally without exaggeration, half that of the X3. My daily routine is unchanged and when I used an older pair of X3's I occasionally had to charge them a little toward the end of the day to make it, but I have to charge my X4's at least twice, usually 3 times to make it the whole day, and I got them brand new from Best Buy. The worst part is the proprietary charging clip, after a month it doesn't reliably work and I have to spend several minutes trying to get it to connect and charge. I am definitely glad I got the protection plan because I am now looking to replace them with a different brand.

      Hello Josh,

We are sorry to hear that your Jaybird X4 do not hold a charge. Please send us an email at Jaybirdlistens@Jaybirdsport.com and we will get you taken care of to improve your experience.

Please try these troubleshooting steps that can help to resolve the issue of your headset's battery:

-Computers are the best and safest method, as is anything 1 AMP or less.
-Car chargers produce a much greater power supply and should be avoided.
-Over-charging the battery will quickly reduce the life of the headphones, so in addition to monitoring the power supply, limit the charge time to 2.5 hours,
-To get the most out of your battery it is recommended to charge the buds when the low battery status is indicated.
-Avoid charging your headphones after exposure to sweat.
-Make sure charging port/cradle is clear of any debris.

Ever since the first jaybird x models came out, I have always had great sound quality. Now these jaybird X4's finally come with a rating for dust and water. This great for a person just like me who is unfortunately rough with items. I like to take my jaybird X4's everywhere and stuff them in my pocket! So with the dust and water rating I know they won't get damaged. The only thing you have to do is to change out the tips. I even get these new sport tips from comply here at Best buy. The comply tips are the only thing I have to worry about. I do warn not to lose the charging dongle. It seems like something that can be easily lost if you misplace it. The jaybird app that comes with this, is okay. You must mess with the app to find what's best for you. Unfortunately, the app will start your sound quality at a flat setting. But once you learn the app and register your jaybird X4's, then the same jaybird sound quality comes back!

I received the X3s as a gift and started to see some issues with the headphone on the side with controls after using them running a few times. I tried to deal with it to see if the sound would return to normal quality, which it didn’t. The battery also stopped holding a charge for more than a couple hours so I contacted support and they sent me a new pair of X4s. I was really excited. After running for a couple months in these, the headphone on the side with the controls lost all bass sound, is quieter overall, and sounds distorted. The headphones were great until I sweat in them and I think the sweat got into the controls and ruined the sound on both pairs of headphones that I used. I won’t be buying from jaybird in the future after having two pairs of headphones fail after wearing while running - something they advertise that you will be able to do.

Please try the following to resolve the issue of your headset:

      1. Put your buds in pairing mode. Turn the buds off, then press and hold the Power Button for more than 4 sec until you see alternating red/green LED.
      2. While the LED is flashing red / green double press the Power Button.
      3. The LED will turn orange and your buds will turn off.

I really like these jaybird X4 wireless sport headphones. They were easy to pair to my phone and the 3 button controls are easy to get used to. The X4's sound great with a variety of music with really good Highs and MIds with good Bass for in ear speakers. The X4's are very comfortable to wear and feel very secure. I'm no Xtreme workout type of person, but they stayed in place while doing some home repair projects and never had any connection issues with the phone being in the next room. I like that the ear pieces are tethered together as I knocked one out and didn't have to worry about it falling off the roof. Overall these jaybird X4's sound really good, are comfortable to wear, easy to use controls and have great battery life.

The Jaybird X4's are a great set of wireless earbuds. They come packaged with an assortment of ear rubbers and foams that will fit any ear. The sound was nice and loud and provided a decent amount of passive noise cancellation. The range for my phone to earbuds was about 22 feet. You can download the Jaybird smartphone app that adds extra features to your earbuds such as changing the sound equalizer and locating your earbuds if they're lost (at the cost of extra battery life). The only issue I had with them was finding out how to skip and rewind tracks which is done by holding the volume up/down for about a second. If you have any questions about these earbuds please feel free to ask.

After shopping for a number of headphones and pondering to myself what exactly "sweatproof" is, we no longer have to worry. This latest iteration from Jaybird finally bellies up to the bar with a WATERPROOF design, and I love em. These fit very well, much better than the neckband style for running, there's still a cord connecting the two ears and off it hangs the mic and controls, but otherwise, there's nothing heavy to bang against your collarbone. These are a significant upgrade from their little siblings, the X3 which are only sweatproof and don't have the additional ear "wings" to keep them in place. Other features that I loved are the 10 min charge for 1 hour of listening time and the overall 8-hour battery life I think I've just slightly exceeded that now a few times. Overall these are well made, sound great, and I would recommend them as a good value in the world of running/workout headphones.

This is my third pair of Jaybirds bought. Indoors they are absolutely wonderful. Great sound, especially with the Jaybird app. They're comfortable and the battery is decent. The only thing that has me looking for a replacement is its outdoor connection. It is absolutely ridiculous that something that is targeted for the outdoorsy folks, DOESN'T WORK OUTDOORS! When I'm practicing at the golf range with the headset no more than 10 ft from me and the connection drops every time i turn my head, is totally unacceptable. I even tried putting the phone on the side that the main module is on and I'm still having issues. I returned the Beats version because they stuck out too far, but I didn't have a single connection issue with them. Jaybird knows this is an issue and will not or cannot fix it. Like I said, and I hate to be that guy, but, this will be the last Jaybird for me.

this is my first set of "wireless " earbuds. I went back and forth for weeks deciding which ones to get. The salesman completely sold me on jaybird and said he loved the x3 so I figured the x4 would be great. straight out the box they paired easy and fast and the sound quality was really good. stayed in my ear during a fairly heavy workout and just bumming around. comes with 3 sizes of buds and fins, kind of a pain trying to set it all up and watching the video in the app wasnt very helpful. still haven't found the right setup that is completely comfortable. after about an hour they start to hurt. Other than that things were great until just randomly the right bud started cutting in and out when I'd turn my head. playing with the cord affected it to. not happy at all, lifespan of a week?! For future reference, you can try these suggestions for secure fit:

      1. Test over-ear/under-ear fit
      2. Test all combinations of eartips and wings, including different sizes in each ear
      3. You may view the instructional video on this link:

      http://www.jaybirdsport.com/support/

Furthermore, if one size hurt your ears with prolonged use, that is an indicator that you're not using the right size.

Works just great and detects blutooth easily. It even has a app for further customization and battery information. I would recommend this to anyone that has a android or doesn't like the Apple Airpod style. Only caveat is the way how the earphone is shaped and may not fit perfectly with everybody's ear, otherwise it's really snug. Also as it has a wire, there is still a chance of discomfort with the wire being able to be snagged. As such, you also can't really listen with just one earphone, you HAVE to have both earphones on because its really uncomfortable to leave the other loose and have either gravity or friction from your shoulder be a problem. If you hate cables back then, this may not be for you. But it's really well built and sounds great, not really much more you can ask for.
