I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of these Jaybird headphones. The jaybird app allows you to completely customize your listening experience and has countless preset EQ settings or will let you make a custom profile.

They have a nice app for equalizer. Only con for me is the charging cradle, is expensive to replace. If u want lotsa bass go with Bose, but they have a good overall quality sound

Switched from the powerbeats 3, and I love the sound quality of these headphones. The ability to fine tune the EQ is amazing. However, the battery life is not as stated and the proprietary charging design is frustrating.

Sound is good, I like the equalizer in the app. Biggest issue is with the wire. For normal use it wouldn't be a problem but when exercising, it can pull at the earbud. Not enough to pull it out but, you will notice it.

I was a little underwhelmed when I first used these, the sound was just a bit too flat for my liking. But after I began to play with the app and equalizer, I am very pleased with the sound quality. The fit is nice, the cord management is helpful. I haven't tested the water resistance, but it feels good knowing that these have an improved IPX rating.

I love these J birds. I use them while weight training and they never fall out of ear. Sound quality is good with J Birds EQ App. I would've gave a 5 star rating however the charging cord is awkward, and the skip track button needs work.

Wireless capabilities were good. Equalizer app very good. Comfort bad Sound could have been better if my ears were the right size. I tried all the earbuds. The best one barely stayed in my ears, but would fall out if I went for a run. Sadly, had to return them.

Got them 2 days ago and already have problems. First day I turned down my volume from my phone while the earphones were connected & they ended up disconnecting completely. They didnt last 8 hrs at all even at a medium volume. I like the EQ thing with the App but every song is different so if you would want true sound, you would have to constantly mess with the eq. Today after charging them fully they stayed at 80% then 2 hrs later died on me. I will be returning them today & getting a much cheaper pair of something else.

      Jaybird Support Team

      Hi DaNamesLB,

We're sorry to hear that the Jaybird X4 do not hold a charge and we'll be glad to help you out! Just send us an email at Jaybirdlistens@Jaybirdsport.com and we will get you taken care of.

Please try the following to resolve the issue of your headset:

      - Computers are the best and safest method, as is anything 1 AMP or less.
      - Try a different power source/charger
      - Car chargers produce a much greater power supply and should be avoided.
      - Over-charging the battery will quickly reduce the life of the headphones, so in addition to monitoring the power supply, limit the charge time to 2 hours,
      - To get the most out of your battery it is recommended to charge the buds when the low battery status is indicated.
      - Avoid charging your headphones after exposure to sweat.
      - Make sure charging port/cradle is clear of any debris.

I've been shopping for a set of wireless earbuds for a while, and looked many reviews. When these went on sale, combined with the good reviews, I thought I'd try them out. The sound is awesome, especially paired with the app where you can load different sound EQ firmware settings that follow the headphones wherever you pair them. Battery life has been as expected. I wish it used a more universal charger, such as Type C, but the proprietary charger works well. They fit comfortably in my ears after finding the right ear buds and wing holder things. Comes with a convenient travel pouch as well.

I must first say that I love how snug buds fit in your ears. I was not very fond of controls on the remote. They plain and a bit much while you're in a workout. But I did really like the eq presets available in app community and playlist sharing, And the over the ear options also were a good addition, The cord itself could have been a bit longer for better comfort. I would have liked another inch or two. All in all nice sound when tuned to your preferences and good noise canceling. And didn't have a problem handling the sweat from my run.

I have a pair of Jaybird X2's and was very happy with them but decided to upgrade to the X4s. Absolutely love the sound quality and the app with the equalizer is amazing! BUT!!!! They kept cutting out... I counted them cutting out over 60 (yes 60) times in just one song. It was terrible. I searched help in the app and found I needed to reset them, which I did. It helped with the cutting out some. Still 10x plus per song. So I exchanged them where I purchased them for another pair. This pair is much better... they still cut out occasionally, but only occasionally. So I'll keep them. The fit & sound is Great!!

    Great sound customization, sluggish controls

Pro -Comes with many ear tips and fins to fit many ear sizes and shapes -Can be worn reversible -Decent battery life -Excellent sound and EQ control with the companion app -Practically sweat/water proof Con -Storage case is small, not very protective, and doesn't stay closed well -Sound EQ control and stereo reversal requires app on your device to be constantly running -Customized EQ is limited to five control points -Controls are a little sluggish -No hi-res audio support -Proprietary charging cable Overall Physics demands earbuds have a drawback: tiny driver size. Small drivers can't replicate a natural balance of audio on their own, particularly in the lower bands. To combat this, most earbud manufacturers use software EQs to enhance the areas their drivers are normally weak. The problem with this is the end user is at the mercy of the synthesized soundstage the manufacturer set. Jaybird changes that up a little with the X4s and the latest version of their sound control app. Instead of a few EQ presets, you get almost complete control over the entire EQ to make your music sound the way you want. More, you can share your prefer presets and download those of others ( and sample the many strange ways others prefer listening to their tunes ). You are limited to using only five control inflection points along the entire EQ curve, but it's usually sufficient for your needs. Jaybird's app can also reverse the stereo since the earbuds are can flip around and be worn either hanging under your neck or over your ears and around the back of your head. I didn't find this alternate configuration very usable since it puts the control pod right against your head. The controls themselves are okay, but could be better. It uses the typical three buttons for volume up, down, and power that also double for next/prev track and other things. I found them overall to be slow since instead of using quick double- and triple- clicks, you have to press and hold them for the alternate commands. The control pod also serves as the charging point, but instead of using a standard type-C or micro USB cable, it uses a proprietary magnetic connector. Hope you never lose the charging cable. However the storage case in the box is a small bag with a spring loaded mouth that doesn't stay tightly shut. The bag is barely big enough to hold the cabled earbuds, charging cable, and the various ear tips and sizing fins, and doesn't offer much protection. In the end, the X4 has great promise, but fails in a lot of little things. The EQ control is great, they're practically water proof, the battery life is decent, and you get a lot of ear tips and fins to fit your ears ( if you're the type that finds this style of buds comfortable ). But I find the controls slow, the storage bag severely lacking, the proprietary charging cable easily lost, and the lack of any hi-res audio support ( apt-X, LDAC, etc ) disappointing. I can probably excuse the charging cable, since water proofing electrical connections can be difficult. And I have to have one more app running on my phone to get the sound I want. It would be very nice if the earbuds had the ability to store one or two EQ curves onboard, so they would sound the same without needing the Jaybird app on every device. Overall they're a good way to listen to music and I don't think many people would be disappointed with them. Personally, I think I prefer the JLab Epics a little more.

I'm somewhat of a Bluetooth headphone nut and ease of use, battery life and most importantly sound quality are very important to me. Equally important is feeling secure when you are wearing the headphones in your ears, not having to worry if they will fall out, not worrying about having to be careful etc. Battery life is also key and if you get all this along with water and sweat proof features, you have yourself a home run set of headphones. All this is present in the X4's. Fitment options give you the ability to wear them over or under the ear and the various foam tip sizes included insure you have a secure, noise limiting fit in your ear. The X4's are very comfortable and aren't fatiguing wearing them for long periods of time. EQ is customizable with the app and they sound great. The only complaint I have and it's a minor one is how they charge. Rather than having a micro usb on the headphones they charge by putting them on a proprietary connector that plugs into any usb charger, your pc etc to recharge. They charge quickly and it works well but I'm just afraid I might lose it then have an issue replacing it. They probably made this choice to save real estate on the headphones but I don't like it. Despite that I still gave them 5 Stars...these are a great set of headphones and I would recommend them!

    Solid Choice for Workouts

-- PROS -- - Solid construction - Good battery life - IPX7 rating makes them easy to clean - Extra ear tips and ear fins included - Decent sound quality (when used with the app) - Siri support with a long press of the power button -- CONS -- - The charging cable is crazy small - Sound quality is just "meh" without an app I've never owned a pair of Jaybird headphones before, but I've only heard good things from people who owned them. I was quite excited to finally give these a try, and I wasn't disappointed. The X4 headphones are very light-weight, but don't feel cheap. The IPX7 rating makes them ideal for working out, plus they can be cleaned with a quick rinse under the sink (just make sure they dry before storing/using). Pairing the X4 is super easy, even if you don't have the app installed first (I didn't). I HIGHLY recommend that you download the Jaybird app for the EQ settings. The X4 headphones sound "okay" without the app (totally depends on your choice of music), but you won't get the most out of the headphones without the different EQ settings (you can create your own personal setting or use one of the several pre-set options). Battery life is actually pretty good for something so small. Jaybird rates these for up to 8 hours, but that rating is under ideal circumstances. I'm getting a little over 7 hours, but I listen to my music a little louder than I should. Charging is a minor annoyance for the X4. The included charger is just way too small. I get that they wanted it to fit in the included headphone pouch, but a longer, flexible cable would have been better. The charger has a solid connection to the headphones, so it can dangle from the wall outlet (you supply the charging block), but it looks ridiculous. -- BOTTOM LINE -- If you're looking for a solid pair of headphones that are water and sweat proof, you should considering picking these up. Just know that you will need to use the companion app to get the most out of them.

For being my first pair of Jaybird headphones the experience has been good. Out of the box you get plenty of ear tips and wings to find a comfortable size. The app is very well designed and provides extra functionality for the headphones like adjusting equalizer setings or setting them up. Equalizer settings works well with my Android device and with most music players. One of my favorite features is how Jaybird allows you to upload your equalizer profile to share just like you would with your Spotify playlist. I found several ones that I like already and being able to preview them without having to save them is nice. Sound quality has been good with difference genres of music from rock to hip hop music. The headphones seem to be built well and being sweat and water resistant should help with the durability term. My only gripe would be how you charged them. I can see why they designed it this way due to the water/sweat resistant design but if you forget to bring the charging cable you will have no way to charge them. Jaybird does offer a charge crade that uses a micro usb connection but for now it's sold out at this time. Overall I could not find any cons besides the short proprietary charging cable. Battery life is decent and the sound coming out from the headphones is good. With the additional ear tips and wings provided they don't fall off easily and are comfortable to use for an extended period of time. The Jaybird x4 should be on top of your list of Bluetooth headphones that you are considering purchasing. For future purchases I will definitely be considering Jaybird.
