Good desktop speaker, lacks bass and depth though

Overall, these are great speakers and most will probably like them. There are a couple of things that I believe hold them back acoustically, but for around $200 they’re a solid pair and most likely better than anything you’d currently be using. Let’s start with the good: The speakers look great and have a great form factor. They’re slightly unusual and modern in shape which helps with wanting to buy them and display them. Setting them up was fairly straightforward, though you may want to know that you have to connect speaker wires to both speakers to get LR channel to work properly. Not unheard of, but if you were looking for true wireless you may want to look elsewhere. Once they’re set up, and they do require a power outlet for constant power draw, you’re pretty much ready to go. You have the option to switch outputs on the fly, meaning you can easily change between wireless Bluetooth from your phone or laptop, or onboard desktop pretty seamlessly. I found this feature to be nice and easy to use. Now, for the sound. If you’re familiar with JBL as a company, you may have an idea of what the sonic profile is going for; that is, a very clear, concise soundstage with little warmth and depth. The detail is great, but the low end leaves a lot to be desired. The high end features a slightly metal sound, sort of like Klipsch with its aluminum tweeter design, but again these are small drivers. These have the “Professional” monitor marketing on them, alluding that these are catered more towards folks who prefer a good, clean sound, rather than top to bottom clarity, depth, and some bass to round it out. Unfrontetely, I don’t believe that there is a way to tweak the EQ of the sound, which is a bummer to me. You can, of course, do it through your preferred player or amp, but a few onboard settings may have been nice. Overall, I think these are solid speakers and produce a good enough sound for the price to recommend them. Just know these aren’t punching too far above their weight.

    Amazing sound, Bluetooth laggy

First off, these speakers sound amazing! Why the 3 star review then? Bluetooth lag when used with any video. Blue toothed to my laptop and my desktop and when watching video, there was a half to over a second delay between the video and the sound. Like a badly dubbed 80's Kung Fu movie. No amount of settings adjustments fixed it. Same with connecting to tablet and phone. Bluetooth connection is strong, but for some reason when using video, there is a definite lag. When hard connecting to the sound output from my desktop, all lag went away. So 3 stars as the Bluetooth for video and gaming is laggy/delayed. Forced hard wiring defeats the purpose and advantage of Bluetooth. For the good- Sound quality is exceptional. Sound is clear. Highs are great without sounding tinny. Bass is thumping without distortion. Very clear without what I call bass Fuzz. Mids again are exceptional, even at high/max volume. The sound fills a mid sized room well. When hard connected, they make great PC speakers. Bluetoothed to a phone/tablet/other they provide great sound for a room or home. I found that the bluetooth range for a solid connection is about 40 feet. After that, connection can get spotty. Other than having to hard connect to have no lag audio/visual, I'd recommend these based on the excellent sound quality.

They sound great and are easy to set up. The only problem I encountered was no instructions about how to connect with Bluetooth. Pushing the input selection button puts it into discovery mode and then it's easy to connect.

These are nice looking speakers with several connection options. The speakers are nicely rounded, matte black, with rubberized pads on the bottom. The front panel of the main speaker consists of a volume knob, an input button, a headphone port, and an AUX input. They can hookup to your device via Bluetooth, RCA to AUX cable, RCA cables, or TRS cable. I'm currently using the included RCA to AUX cable to connect these to my computer. I tried using the Bluetooth connection first, but there was too much lag for gaming or movies. I would only recommend using the Bluetooth if you want to pair your phone to these to play music. That being said, I struggled to switch back to my computer after pairing the Bluetooth to my phone. Switching the input didn't seem to work until I turned my phone off. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the look and performance of these speakers. The bass is a little weak for my taste, but they're otherwise great. They get fairly loud, and the sound remains nice and clear even at the higher volumes. I would strongly recommend using these for your AV setup.

A beautiful-sounding speaker--especially considering it's size. They're not going rock your world with Earth-shattering bass; however, that's probably not what you're looking for. But what they will do is caress your lobes with a rich, warm sound. I like them so much that I bought a second pair for my work computer. Highly (pun intended) recommended.

In my review of these JBL - Compact Desktop Reference Monitor Speakers 104-BT, I give them a 4 out of 5 star review. First and foremost, these “desk” speakers are large at 10.72” high, 6.02” wide, and 4.88” deep. They are also heavy with the Right / Primary Monitor at 4.54 lbs. and the Left / Secondary Monitor at 3.81 lbs. They take up a bit of desk real estate. Their sound is provided by a 4.5” low-frequency driver and a 0.75” soft-dome high-frequency driver all at 30W per speaker. Audio Inputs are provided by Bluetooth, 1/8" Aux, RCA, 1/4" TRS balanced with Input Selections of Bluetooth, Aux, RCA, TRS, or All. There is 1-Audio Output on the Right / Primary Monitor face for a 1/8" stereo headphone with auto speaker mute feature. For the audio review, these are a solid set of monitor/reference speakers primarily used for podcasting in my opinion. These should not be confused for primary use in gaming, multi-room audio, or home theater applications. The absence of bass makes these speakers unsuitable for serious music listening or action packed sound stage movies via your computer. Purchase them for their intended purpose and you will be a happy. If you expect over-reaching expectations across various sources, then you will be very disappointed. I deducted 1-star as I felt there could be just a little more bass to balance out the overall sound spectrum. I hope you enjoyed my review and that it helped you in your purchasing decision.
