The sound bar and bass is more than enough to listen at 1/3 of volume. At full volume and bass all the way up, will knock things down . Just awesome. In a good way.

Am mostly pleased with this soundbar system. Occasionally the volume needs to be increased to properly hear dialogue, especially if the background music is significant. Sub woofer is great.

Great Sound/Bass/Ease of Setup, One Complaint

Love the sound, the Bass is Great, design is nice. Really like that my Sony TV remote not only synced with this sound bar but also my Apple TV so the only time I need to use more than one remote is when I want to adjust the bass. That said I've one complaint about the sound bar and if anyone else has experienced this or has a solution let me know. The sound bar speakers make a popping noise every time it shuts down. I've tried muting the sound bar/turning the volume down to 0 before shutting it down and there is still a large popping noise as it enters standby mode. I'm afraid the speakers will eventually get damaged by this so any help would be much appreciated. It also seems to do this scrolling through certain apps on my Apple TV. Other than that great purchase.

I have a klipsch rsb-11 in my living room right now but I wanted to have more bass because my room is pretty large. I bought this sound bar because It had a 10 inch woofer the bass this thing produces is awesome it sounds so good it's deep you can actually feel the bass in your chest. The downfall to this system is the bar itself. There is practically no mid range in the system. I would have to continually adjust the volume just to hear the voices and then turn it down because the treble was so high at certain times. The surroundsound option seems like all it did was raise the volume a little bit more this caused the treble to be to high. My wife at one point said it sounded like everyone was talking with their nose plugged. The bar is definitely better than having nothing at all. So although I did not have good luck with it I still think the sound bar is a good choice for someone coming from only TV speakers or an old system.

I choose this bar over the new Polk 3.1 because I think for 3.1 soundbar systems in this price range with ARC capabilities, I'm not sure the sound gets any better. Listened to a variety of music and it performed well top to bottom. Watched the lightsaber battle towards the end of the Force Awakens, and I was blow away by the sound. It lead that scene more than the visuals did for me. Now, considering I decided on this one and like it, the reason why I didn't give it 5 Stars is for few minor reasons. The sound will more or less'turn off' if no signal is coming through. For example, scrolling through my Xbox home scene slowly doesn't admit any sound because it's random spaced sound signals instead of a blank signal with bleeps of noise. Doesn't really bother me, but it does some off without it. With my TV remote, the sound will not increase by more than 10 if I hold down the volume up. I think it's to prevent the system from accidentally overload, but again odd. My google home can't set the volume on it. It can only go up/down one sound point instead of setting a number which is quite annoying since I can change my TV to any number I want. I think this is because the volume is 0-50 scale on the soundbar and not 0-100, but I can't verify that. I found the packaging to be lacking in ease and I didn't see any guide on the system itself that explains in detail what it was or how to use it. It's mostly common sense with soundbars, but I always like to read the guide because sometimes you learn something neat that you can use. I do feel like the looks are a little lacking compared to a lot of the other soundbar companies, but it's a soundbar not a lookbar. So for sound at a 3.1 level, I'm not sure it can be beat. If I had some advice for JBL, I would say to make the packaging experience better so it's a pleasant experience from purchase to install to use and not just use.

What a journey I had with getting a sound bar. A few months ago I bought a new tv and wanted to replace my small outdated soundbar. I did quite a bit of research and found an LG SH7B at a great price. I had it for awhile and it was better than my old Sony but not great. The sub started cutting out and their customer service wasn't good son I decided to return it and look for something else. I spent a couple days doing more research and got it down to Klipsch rsb-11, Polk Magnifi Max and this JBL Bar 3.1. I tried the Klipsch first and absolutely loved the sound. Everything was so clear and well defined. All went great until that night when I lowered the volume after the kids went to sleep and I heard a hissing/static noise coming from the bar while sitting about 10ft away. It wasn't anything super crazy but enough to drive me crazy. I bought a surge protector with "clean power", unplugged everything except the power cord and changed outlets. Nothing helped so I returned it and got a replacement. That had the same issue. I went to the Best Buy store and heard the same noise and also showed the salesman. I contacted Klipsch and they are saying it's normal. Now I know it's normal to hear noise from speakers but that's only when you are real close to it. Hearing it from 10 ft away while watching tv is not by any means normal. Others have complained about the same issue. It has good reviews for the most part so I'd say most people always keep their volume up, don't notice it or just don't get bothered by it. It bothered me so much I couldn't deal with it even though I'd say it's the best sound bar I have ever listend to. Finally I ordered the JBL and I now have a great sound bar. The sound is close to Klipsch, not quite as good but it has lows (more than any other sound bar I have heard) mids and high, all well defined and clear. Best of all, no hissing/static noise.
