    Great product, if it would work

    I was very excited to purchase this surround sound, got home and set it all up and no sound! I Spent over an hour trying to trouble shoot and still nothing, so I called JBL and was on the phone for 45 minutes trying to figure things out. There is a setting in your smart tv you need to change in order for the surround to work which would be an important thing to include in your directions and trouble shooting section. Once the sound bar finally worked then of course the wireless subwoofer would not pair and when it did which was rarely it lost connection. After an hour on the phone again and trouble shooting and emails back and forth with JBL I packed it up and returned it. Such a waste bc the soundbar looked great and so did the subwoofer which is why I gave it a 2. Had high hopes and ended up very disappointed. I ended up spending more money and got a Sonos sound bar with subwoofer and had it up and running in 25 minutes. Very happy now!

    I started out loving the soundbar at first, but unfortunately it wasn't until after the return date that I noticed how flawed it is. To start, this soundbar has terrible mids, there have been times where I would switch to the TV speakers just to hear whats happening or being said. Another problem I was having: Any time I was watching a media that was dialogue driven, and not heavily reliant on action, bgm, or loud sounds, the soundbar would cut off immediately and then turn back on after detecting an audio signal. JBL has come out with an update, which I assume addresses this issue... Unfortunately post update; The soundbar will cut off during during scenes that have various noises going on, or usually after a bass drop in a horror movie. Were I able to know then what I know now, I would not have bought this sound bar. Here's hoping jbl releases an update so that I can at least bump this bar up to 3 stars

    Sound is great, one major announce.

    The sound from this bar is fantastic. Easy to set up. The biggest issue with this sound bar is that it constantly switches to PCM mode if what you're doing drops sound at all. It then takes 1 to 2 seconds for the sound to switch back on causing you to miss whatever was said during that time. No amount of settings fix this and this is the only sound bar i've used that does this. Looking around forums and everything, it appears that this is a known issue with JBL sound bars that they seemingly refuse to fix. So if you enjoy missing the first couple seconds of the content your watching when flipping channels, scrolling through YouTube, etc... then this is the sound bar for you!

    20 yr old JVC System is better

    This bar didn't do it for me. Wanted a smaller footprint than my 20 yr old JVC 460w system I have hooked to the TV. This JBL bass was on par but was to tingy in the focals and was very thin in the mids. Worth maybe $200 but at MSRP it's way too much for what it is. Sounded ok on some movies but normal tv was very poor. I have a $150 LG in the bedroom and while the base isn't there the sound is much more full and well rounded. I tried arc, optical, changed tv settings, everything I could do and just fell short. Could be sound bars aren't for me as I realize you can only expect so much from small speakers but even with all the tech nowadays can't compare to the old school bookshelf speakers. Going to wait on some deals and build a little 3.1 system with receiver myself. Think that's really the way to go and won't be much if any more expensive.

    Worked for 2 months

    Sound bar gets loud that's for sure. Not much mids but the bass and highs are so good it makes up for it. Sub hits hard and I love it. Not much surround sound if that's what your expecting. Problem with this sound bar is it's reliability. Got the bar new and after few months the sub would not sync. Jbl sent me refurbished unit and that lasted 2 months and the bar and sub would not sync. Got the Samsung N650 instead and it's been very reliable and sounds better from the bar itself but does not have the bass like Jbl. Wish Samsung would put better sub since they own jbl.

    Doesnt sound great with the tv...

    So over all it's a solid speaker with a big sub woofer. If you were just going to listen to music this would be a great product as music sounds great. However it mostly fails at TV audio. The audio sounds muddled and not clear. Either the bass is too high or too for speaking so sun titles are almost a must. Overall I'm super bummed about this purchase.

    This system was relatively easy to set up and get going. Sounded great initially. Then the subwoofer stopped connecting to the sound bar. I had to go through JBL's AWFUL customer support to try to get it working again. It worked for one day then started bugging again. Hoping I can exchange this or get refunded through Best Buy. Such a shame.

    Ok sound bar

    Was expecting a lot more from this sound bar. I had a Samsung 2011 model and the sound was much more “complete” then this jbl. Not to mention the sound kept cutting out every 5 minutes. I will be returning it immediately after 2 days of use.
