    Great sound but buggy

    I want to love and keep this setup. Unfortunately I’m already returning a second one. The sound was great and very clear. Bass was punchy, voice came out clear, music sounded good which is rare on sound bars. I first bought it because of the reviews and liked how it had 3 inputs all supporting 4K since my original had 1 input supporting 2.2 hdcp. At first I noticed slight bugs that I brushed off, nothingthat turning off and back on wouldn’t fix or a reset. Woofer would disconnect, no audio through ARC. A few months passed by then the reset fix it would not fix the issues anymore, woofer became staticky with interruptions as well, had to repair it manually each time we turned it on, Bluetooth no longer synced, tv no longer picked up ARC, and remote control operations became buggy as well by it copying the last command three times before doing what you actually pressed it to do. I owned the first one for about 6 months so I called JBL, they went over troubleshooting for a good while even though I kept explaining to the tech that I had done all those steps. He finally gave me a green light to send in for a warranty claim and repair. I informed him I bought Geek Squad protection and told him I could just go Best Buy. He kept insisting that I was no allowed to do so before going through JBL first. So he was going to send me a mail label and instructions through email. I waited 1 hour so without anything so I figured I call back, I figured maybe he got my email wrong but then the new rep I got very rudely responded that they had the email right and that the rep already sent it and to look through my folders which of course I already did. He didnt bother with a “I’ll resend it.” I gave them a day and never received anything but received a warning email a week later saying I have had no progress and they would close my ticket out. I gave up and went to Best Buy the next day. Geek Squad took care of me and said to wait a few weeks. BTW I asked if what JBL told me was true and quickly told me that they were wrong. Geek Squad decided to replace my unit or get something else. Again, the sound is AMAZING and the inputs were a huge plus so I decided to give them another shot. I’ve had it for 10 days and I’m already getting a few of those quick fix issues I had with the other. This time I’m boxing it back up and trying something else. It may have just been bad luck and just gotten two bad units but sorry I will not give them a third try. If you decide to move forward with them I HIGHLY recommend getting the extra protection because JBL customer service sucks. I wished they worked though as it had a really great sound which is I still give a 3. Hopefully you get a working set so you can enjoy its sound

    If you are going from regular television speakers to this you will likely be happy. Maybe not at $500 (I bought Good Friday price of $299). I was quite happy with my purchase. I was being a good husband and reducing the sound system footprint to a very neat, two-piece system with wireless sub. My wife was very happy. This all changed once we auditioned the soundbar. The bass was good. Sub immediately connected as did my iPhone. However, there was little depth to the sound. Actually sounding quite "tinny". The same experience in DVD Blue Ray playback (Eagles - Farewell Tour I) I have high expectations for JBL as I have used their speakers for decades. I didn't believe this soundbar would live up to my current system (5.1 JBL Northridge) that I've had for years. But I didn't think it would leave me so deflated. Even my wife (who would gladly sacrifice some sound for appearance) said "take it back" after only a couple minutes of listening. If you only watch TV or Movies for dialogue and effects, this may be fine for you. If you like to listen to music, and want to experience full and rich sound, you need go elsewhere. I gave three stars because I think it rates at least that for a soundbar system. Anything above (in my opinion) is incredibly generous.

    Great Soundbar sound but, Subwoofer?

    Received system and soundbar worked fine. The ordeal began with the subwoofer. The subwoofer was not paired. For hours I attempted to pair manually. After numerous attempts with different placements as close as about 3" apart, numerous factory resets, checking for any software updates, it paired. Finally I had a solid white light on the subwoofer. The subwoofer now had no sound. Tried pairing again as well factory resets. Now into day two of trying to get the subwoofer to work I contacted Harmon International Tech Support, which had me do the same things I had already done. After a day of working with Harmon International, with no success I'm returning system to Best Buy and getting a replacement since the soundbaritself sounded great Another small issue is when I page up or down to change channels on my Fios remote it changes the source on my soundbar. Even though the TV remote feature is set to off on my soundbar, this still happens. I Must change channels one by one. The soundbar itself sounds great, but with no sound on the subwoofer, I can't rate the subwoofer. I would recommend if I get a subwoofer that works as expected .

    Decent Sound Bar

    I have a klipsch rsb-11 in my living room right now but I wanted to have more bass because my room is pretty large. I bought this sound bar because It had a 10 inch woofer the bass this thing produces is awesome it sounds so good it’s deep you can actually feel the bass in your chest. The downfall to this system is the bar itself. There is practically no mid range in the system. I would have to continually adjust the volume just to hear the voices and then turn it down because the treble was so high at certain times. The surroundsound option seems like all it did was raise the volume a little bit more this caused the treble to be to high. My wife at one point said it sounded like everyone was talking with their nose plugged. The bar is definitely better than having nothing at all. So although I did not have good luck with it I still think the sound bar is a good choice for someone coming from only TV speakers or an old system.

    Great Sound, but not sure about longevity

    Not sure if it was a fluke or not, but the fist unit I received worked great for about a week, then the subwoofer just stopped syncing to the main unit. Called JBL tech support and after a half an hour of troubleshooting, they determined I needed to return it and get a new one. The new one worked great out of the box, and now we are in a waiting game to see how long this one will last. It's been 2 weeks now... holding steady. Was it a fluke? As for sound quality, amazing. I've listed to a lot of sound bars and this set is killer, especially with the 10" subwoofer... most only offer a 6 or 8 inch.

    Not bad nor good!

    I am really unsatisfied with my new 3.1 sound bar. Just because of the poor voice and loudness coming from the bar it self. The woofer is great but voice and loud wise is not really on the level I expected. I’m mad now knowing there’s a new one out 5.1 that’s louder, I gotta check that one out. Also there’s a buzz on the bar anytime I’m watching tv. It’s like a static sound, all my cables are put the right way and tight don’t know why it’s souding like that.     Decent soundbar

    Ultimately, this product was returned. I liked it, I didn't want to return it but it had absolutely no mid range. The rear speakers helped a lot but it created too many remotes and too many wires and my room was cluttered. 630 dollars was too much to pay for a set up (including rear speakers) that I was not 100 percent satisfied in. Other than that it has great bass and its loud. I really wanted to like it more but not for that price. I'll pay a few more dollars for something im 100 percent happy with. Still looking.

    incredible highs but mids??

    Well I bought this after i returned samsung ms650 sound bar. First thing i noticed was the mids were completely missing. For me mids are very crucial for any type of listening. The highs are exceptional on this bar but overpower the mid sound and that unacceptable for me. Subwoofer is power ful and I was lowering it to have a comfortable listening. I can recommend this if you just want to enjoy the high sound effects in the movies.

    Expensive Soundbar that didn't live up

    Pros:super bassy, looks great, decent sound but lacks fullness. Loved that it offered a 10" woofer, but it drowns out the high even with a controller. They need to ad something to clear up the highs. Cons: the woofer wouldn't stop humming at low sounds. Wasn't able to put the woofer behind my couch, possibly too far from the unit cause it kept cutting out. I did try different outlets and it didn't help.

    Bought this based on the reviews, as well as the JBL reputation. I’ve built several custom surround sound systems but decided to go with a simpler approach this time around. For dvd or streaming video this system works fine - powerful bass and decent mids and highs. However, for low fidelity cable, i.e. everyday TV - this system provides weak mids and bass. Certainly not worth the price, in my opinion.

    Tv great no on sound bar

    Tv is great,but jbl sound bar not so happy with it.. seems you have it up high to hear it. Geek squad didn’t explain things very good. They were in a big hurry to get out. What you pay to have hook it up and don’t take time to show or explain how it works is sad. RIP OFF!!!

    Better sound than tv speaker but not the fullness we were looking for. Voices were clear but a bit tinny sounding. Same with music. Our room may have been too big for speaker. Could be good for smaller space. Easy to hook up, light, good size. We returned it and purchased a more powerful unit from best buy.

    Popping sound

    I have had this system for a few months now and it has been working great then it started making a sound like something was frying followed by a loud pop in the sub-woofer. I'm not sure what the issue is but I did purchase the extended warranty and will be taking it back for replacement.

    Beware if you Verizon Fios

    Had Cox first and worked great. Switched to Verizon and it all went downhill. Any button pressed on the cable remote (or universal) will also activate the last function used on the bar. Volume either goes load or all the way down while changing channels. Was told it’s a known issue with no current fix.

    Bought this just a week ago. Worked great for the first week but now I’m noticing the that the subwoofer seems to be going in and out and isn’t always working. Pleased with the soundbar itself. Very disappointed with the sub from JBL.

    Produces good sound with great bass in subwoofer when it works. Sometimes it seems to disconnect or not recognize our remote. On the upside, there are very few wires. Overall a good JBL product for home use.

    I have been using this soundbar for less than a year and the sub-woofer will occasionally make loud pops like it is blown. I purchased an extended warranty so I will be returning this system.

    Okay for a second home theater

    In my opinion this sound bar is not good for a main home theater. I don’t think it’s advanced enough for a main home theater, unless you have a small budget or your expectations are not high.

    It seems to have great sound for the most part and was easy to install. But it often breaks up the sound as if it has a bad Connection. It gets annoying.
