I spent a thousand dollars on the samsung 800q symphony soumdbar amd wasn’t impressed at all, clear bar very little bass. Sold it amd bought this jbl 5.1 sounbar and night and day difference with it. Bar is clear and the bass is definitely there, i live in a apartment so i cant have it up that much because the bass is that serioudly loud. Worth every penny.

PURCHASED THIS SYSTEM TO REPLACE THE 3.1 JBL I HAD. SYSTEM HAS GREAT SOUND, BASS IS SMOOTH AND CARRIES WELL, SSYTEM OPERATES EASLY AND CONNECTS WITHOUT FUSS. THE SUB TAKES A BEATING WITH DOGS AND KIDS RUNNING AROUND AND BLENDS IN NICELY. CAME WITH WHAT WAS NEEDED TO MOUNT,EASY INSTRUCTIONS AND FRIENDLY REMOTE

I was hopeful when I purchased this JBL soundbar/subwoofer, but I also know that you get what you pay for most of the time. Since this is not an overly expensive item, I expected mediocrity (yet remained hopeful!). I have not been disappointed at all. I have used it mainly for listening to music (although it's the main sound output my living room tvas well) and the sound quality is fantastic! The sub is only 10" but it has 5 bass level adjustments and it will provide some really deep bass if wanted. If you are looking for something that's over the top, this probably is not for you. If you are however looking for great quality sound for a really decent price, then I would recommend this all day long!

Incredible sound. I’ve always loved JBL — they obviously have a range of offerings from low to high quality. This surpassed my expectations. It fills the room with surround sound. The sub is also larger than I was expecting but worth it for the experience it provides.

I thought I'd done enough research before buying this, but alas...I didn't.
The sound out of this unit is really good. The drivers in the bar do about as good a job as can be expected based on their size; you're not getting the full spectrum of dedicated speakers with larger diameters, but for TV/movie watching this definitely fits the bill. It does have a "calibration" function to determine reflection points, which I guess gives it its "5.1" designation; it kinda works, depending on the space, but again, not true surround due to the surround drivers being in the bar. Most of the time I feel it does well enough. Music is ok, but if you're trying to listen to symphonic music with a wide frequency range you will be disappointed. Connectivity works as it should, but going from bluetooth back to ARC from TV can be a bit of a headache.
Now for my gripes:
*Sync can float between noticeable and atrocious, depending on the source. You can adjust delay on the bar, but it's not very intuitive, and because it can vary between sources you'll be fiddling with this A LOT. It's mostly noticeable if you watch live TV through streaming sources like Hulu or YouTubeTV
*I'd read that the wireless connection between bar and sub can sometimes cut out, and that it has to do with WiFi interference. I originally connected via Ethernet to the bar so I never saw it, but recently switched to WiFi to free up another port, and darned if it didn't start happening to me. Not a lot, but more than a few times, and power cycling puts everything right again. JBL seriously told people to TURN OFF their router's 5GHz WiFi signal and connect ALL YOUR DEVICES using 2.4 only...um, no. Put better radios in your unit. I'm not sacrificing my connectivity for your dodgy manufacturing choices.
*Remote could be a bit more robust. I really don't like having to remember what sequence of buttons to press in whatever order just so that I can change one setting. Allowing other devices would be a big help here too, as they don't allow 3rd party remotes to control this right now.
*I mentioned their surround "mostly" works, but I really do wish I'd waiting for the JBL 9.1 Bar to become available. In addition to having separate drivers that can be placed around your room, most of the issues I've run into have been addressed in that unit.

This is the best soundbar I have ever owned. It changes the entire viewing experience. Every show, movie, sporting event is better with this soundbar. The subwoofer is huge, but sounds incredible. I have nothing but great things to say about this after 3 months of constant use

Very nice soundbar with spectacular crisp sound. The soundbar also has great bass with the provided subwoofer! If you are looking for a sound bar that offers great high-quality sound and something with a lot of bass, you will not go wrong with this one! Reccomend!

Bought this during Black Friday and I must say it is very good quality! It is easy to connect with tv or bluetooth. The sound quality is great for the price, very crisp and clear. The bass has five levels to choose from and I can feel the vibrations on my couch and through the walls. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Setup was very easy, sounds great and has been a great addition to the home theater. My only one complaint is the remote is constantly failing, requiring you to adjust the batteries. Even when working you have to aim it just right for it to work.

Offers excellent value and outstanding sound.
Bought this for a 20x20 family room, and the jbl fills the room very well.
There are probably better sound bar systems, but I am not an audiophile and this sound bar is well worth the money while putting out great sound with excellent bass.
Setup was extremely easy. I am using the hdmi e-arc port on the tv, power and volume are controlled by a Roku remote.
The Bluetooth is another nice feature for streaming music from a phone.

Great mid-priced sound bar, did a relative sound-comparison in-store and this one stood out for the price. The stand-alone base is wireless and satisfying. Since it has legs I use it as a make-shift table since I keep the bass levels low. Like that the bass levels and other items are displayed via digital-readout in the bar itself rather than on the remove. Sound Quality is great. You get decent "simulated" surround if you move side-to-side in front of the bar, but let's face it- if you want true surround you need separate independent speakers.

My reference theater room is an Atmos 7.4.4 setup, so I wasn’t expecting much out of this. I just wanted to add a little dynamic impact to the living room in a clean, simple setup. This did not disappoint. From what I can tell this uses 5 midrange drivers in the center of the bar with 2 side-firing horn-loaded tweeters for the “surrounds”. The midranges are nice and clear in the mid and treble regions. I think using “full-range” drivers (probably 20k-120Hz) was a smart choice. No need to introduce a crossover for such a narrow frequency range. It can avoid the pitfalls of frequency dips and phase issues at the crossover point. The sub picks up nicely from the presumed 120Hz soundbar drop off point and probably goes down to 35 or 40Hz in-room. Plenty for music and most movies. The bass is very visceral and punchy for a soundbar. Far better than expected. Level 2/5 sounds best. 3/5 shakes the couch, but can be a bit much sometimes. The sub was the main reason I bought this unit. Picking it up in store it was 2-3 times heavier than the Denon, Samsung, and Vizio. With a sub there is simply no way to make a good lightweight sub. You need a solid cabinet with good bracing and a large magnet for excursion. This fits the bill nicely. Don’t expect 5.1 out of a single soundbar. Even though JBL markets this as 5.1, they seem to know this is not possible and underneath the covers create a mono speaker with some “surround effects” bouncing off the sidewalls. This is a good thing, stereo separation typically needs 4ft or more, so they don’t even try. Realistically this is a 1.1 soundbar, which is great! That’s all it can and should be without discrete channels placed around the room. Every now and again the side-firing speakers do bounce off the walls and surprise me, but don’t expect much out of those. I was surprised to find calibration on this unit. It only adjusts timing of the soundbar to the “surrounds” and not frequency or sub timing, but none-the-less happy to see anything at this price point. At the end of the day, what you get is a very good sounding package for movies and music that pushes the boundaries of what you can achieve out of a small 2 speaker setup.

I have owned this soundbar for 3 weeks now and I have to admit I took back the Polk soundbar for this JBL 5.1 with no regrets (during quarantine) . The sound is great for what it is.. a soundbar (not multi-speaker). MAKE SURE you have T.V (arc out) audio port for Dolby audio. It only has 1 HDMI port which i don't mind, I use Samsung Dex for that port. But if you have arc out (from your t.v.), then this soundbar is crazy good. The dialog is very clear and upfront (wife is def in one ear and had to use closed-caption for everything). The center, front L & R speakers scream with clarity to your seating position anywhere in the room, over 10 feet away from the unit. Haven't got to turn it full blast cause it's just to loud. On the other hand you can hear it very good on low volume with clear voice without disturbing the next room. The subwoofer is righteous. On low setting I still have to fold a pair of socks up and stuff the port hole cause it does pound hard. Some people will enjoy that alot as I do which the socks just tones it down another notch, and doesn't shake my ceiling fan. (Yep its that loud). The unit looks very good on my mantle. Love the look of the puter-gray color and rounded shape. I used to have a Bose SR1 and I can say this JBL 5.1 gives me more soundstage and more upfront dialog with less echo. More can be said but don't want to ramble on. That's my honest review.
