    Great Quality Speakers

I got these speakers installed on my front doors of a 2006 Honda Accord. I also purchased the GX963 speakers for my rear deck. These speakers made a major difference from the premium stock speakers they replaced. I did not replace anything else in the vehicle. It is important to note that my vehicle did have a stock external amp that powers all the speakers, so this has more power than non-premium audio vehicles. If you are wanting to upgrade to these speakers, make sure you have sufficient power to do so. These speakers run at 2.3 ohms (NOT the common 4 ohm load that other manufacturers use). I now have a lot more bass and the highs are more clear with no distortion at high volume. In fact, I feel a subwoofer would be overkill in this setup. I would also like to mention that Best Buy carries all the common sizes for the JBL GX series. If you mix sizes, as I have (6x9s with 6.5"), they compliment each other very well. JBL is part of Harman Audio. With that, there is also an Infinity line of speakers. Though they are marketed as the "higher-end" brand, I do not feel that there is a major difference in quality, especially for the price. I got these installed at Geek Squad, and they did an excellent job. Though the website has no mention of bundle pricing, if you purchase speakers and installation at the same time, you will save money. I ended up saving about 25% from the original bill. There is no real way of telling how much you will save until everything is totaled out. Overall, I would recommend these speakers over all the other brands that Best Buy sells.

I replaced my factory Boston Acoustic front door speakers in my 2011 Camaro RS with these JBLs. I paired them with a Kenwood KAC-304 Amp. I’m not using the included tweeters because I also installed two Kicker KST25 Tweeters powered by a separate Amp. The midrange and bass notes these JBL components pump out are incredible when powered with an appropriate Amp. I read every review on these speakers that I could find before purchasing them. More than once it was mentioned that end users found them to be closer to 3 Ohm than the rated 2.3 Ohm. I strongly agree and suggest a minimum “2 Ohm stable Amp” with at least 50 Watts RMS and 150-175 Watts peak. They sound great with an average Amp but sound awesome when supplied with the appropriate power they crave. Even though most may be satisfied with the Bass from these components, I found that they were more appropriate for “fill” , especially mid-range. For that reason I adjusted the Kenwood Amp driving them to drive the mids. I then installed two powered Subs for Bass. One 600 Watt 10” under the passenger seat and an 8” 300 Watt behind the driver’s seat. A footnote; When installing these Componets in a car door, make sure to affix/mount them soundly! They will vibrate loose otherwise. I used sound deafening backing behind my mounts and a perma-seal glue gun on all mounting hardware. ROCK ON!!

Can these handle ~150w RMS per side?

I'm running these off a Pioneer GM-D9500F in bridged mode. You might be thinking that's overkill, but my HU's settings are basically all flat, all enhancements off, with the HPF set to 100hz to give them some breathing room. Amp gain is set pretty low since my HU has 4v preouts. Account for voltage drop since I'm probably nowhere near 14.4v and I'm guessing I'm around 150w per door. I also doubt these are actually 2.3 ohms and perhaps closer to 3, but I didn't bother to measure. Couldn't wait to pop them in and see what they could do. Right out of the gate, I don't find myself needing to tweak the EQ at all. I left the crossover at its default tweeter setting of +3dB and I don't find them too bright. Just the right amount of clarity for my taste. From Tool, Slayer, Fleetwood Mac, or Rebelution, whatever I tossed at them, I thought these sound great for what I paid! Crispy highs that don't sizzle too much, nice midbass that has some authority with my modest 8" Polk backing it up, and a midrange that I have not found offensive in the least. That last part, as someone who likes heavy stuff, is super crucial. I hate speakers that have a buzzsaw midrange. I end up having to cut too many bands on the EQ, which I know is part of the game, but I don't compete. I just want good sound out of the box. That's what we're paying for at this price point, right? Keep in my mind my doors are deadened like crazy, but I do use the factory plastic speaker mount since I like how much depth it gives and I'm too lazy to make MDF baffles. I can't give them a 5. To me, a 5 star component set for the money is something like Hybrid Audio's Imagine set. A shame they're so expensive now compared to when they launched, though. Hope that helps!

Installed these in my 2005 GMC Canyon and the only issue was the factory head unit ruined the first set I purchased a week ago: 12/4/15. I believe the underpowered factory h/u was the root cause of the right tweeter to blow a day after install. Factory h/u doesn't give enough power to the aftermarket speakers, which causes them to work extra hard, draw too much power and overheat. Love the speakers tho and will be installing a pioneer avh-4100NEX with an amp this weekend 12/12/15 this should help correct the underpowered issue. I also spent way too long in the store comparing speakers that will sound different after installing in a vehicle. At least I was able to hear these play to their somewhat true potential before purchasing (in store display). All in all, these JBL's have excellent highs and mids and better low bass then most in its class. and again, if your looking for bass, get subs. These are component speakers and aren't designed for low end bass. Excellent speakers all around tho.

After replacing the whole factory sound system on my wife’s car I wasn’t too happy with the sound in the front. I originally replaced the factory with a 3 way pioneers and because the speaker are way to low (like most vehicles) I was having a hard time getting the highs to be where I wanted. So i exchanged those pioneers for this JBL component. I had to custom install the tweeter on the door pillars which was pretty easy, and also this set brings all you need. Now there’s a huge difference between the old 3 ways to this component set. Highs are perfect, I get some really nice clear, crisp high and lows are also a lot better than the old ones. I’m not running them on an amp, just the power from the receiver which is not a lot but way more than what my wife needs. She doesn’t listen to music really loud but it definitely made a huge difference. Got them on sale for $75 I feel like it was a great deal when comparing to the 60 I paid for the old ones. I’m considering buying a second set for my suv, and I will be running them on a amp. I do recommend to anyone who’s trying to upgrade their speakers.

First I want to say WOW! These sound amazing! I just bought a new Honda Civic 2016 EX Turbo, I love everything about this car but the speakers were lacking. They sounded OK but you could definitely tell the stock speakers were missing the full range. I bought these speakers because the ratings were very good and the specs gave me pretty good low end bass I was looking for. Keep in mind my car came with tweeters in the front and tweeters in the back deck so installing I only used the subs. As a sidenote buy the speaker adapters. Trying to install the speakers without the adapters was a pain I ended up buying two adapter sets for both the front and back. Also purchased the wire harness and foam stripping to help with any rattling. The full install took a couple hours with the help of my brother, we had a lot of fun installing them. The speakers do have to break in, They sound great on the first day but give it a little bit of time playing music that covers the full range the speakers sound amazing and powerful now. They might sound even better with an amp, but I was just going for a great sound with my stock system and ended up with an amazing wow system with a lot of bass.

I bought Alpine SPR60c and returned it as it has 15% of bass compared to my stock door speakers and went with SPR50c and it was too small and same problem with bass. But tweeter firtment of both alpine was good and it came with everything you want but bad bass made me look for more and I ended up buying this after testing JBL GTO609 as this has lesser bass than GX600c. JBL GX600c is excellent for bass lovers and fits well with speaker adaptor. Only problem is tweeter which is too small and won't sit in place and the extra clams and flush mount was useless. No wires for speaker to crossover and from crossover to tweeter. I had to buy wire and universal connector to get this sorted... this is unacceptable. They have given speaker adapter which is good.

    Not the best

These speakers are OK. Not great. Higher frequencies on these speakers sound decent, but the mid bass and lows are severely lacking. I have had many different brand component speakers that blow these away. If you choose to purchase speakers at Best Buy, go with Kicker or Alpine. My Kicker component speakers go lower and so do my Alpines. This set does come with great mounting hardware, which makes it a lot easier to install on my factory sail panels and doors. The speakers also feel solid, but the aluminum basket had some imperfections, clearly straight out of the factory, and not damaged from shipping because it was packed well. But that’s about all that’s going on for this pair of speakers. Best Buy located in Fairview Heights is an excellent store, and I always shop here because they have a great crew. Always kind and knowledgeable.

Amplifier is Key To Running These Speakers

    Posted
    Chris

I have these installed with an Alpine KTP-445U amplifier and after a little tuning at the Geek Squad service bay, they sound amazing! These speakers bring out the mid bass so well and the lows are still noticeable. It plays very crisp vocals and high hats/snare as well. Having a nice balance between the highs and mids is where the speakers shine. Bass is very clear but you will need a subwoofer. Theses speakers will not sound good at all running off of the factory head unit, I learned that the hard way unfortunately, and is highly recommended that you buy an amp to run these. I listen to Hip Hop and the most noticeable songs that bring out that nice mid range is "Love Hurts" by Playboi Carti and a great song to listen to with a little bit of everything is "Status Symbol 3" by Nipsey Hussle. Hope this helps!

After a ton of research on a lot of brands I decided on the GX-600c. I think the $150 price point is a little steep but getting these puppies on sale for $80 is was well worth it! These speakers run at 70w RMS @ 2.3 ohms These make an amazing factory replacement as long as the correct mounting method is used. As with most after market speakers the bass may feel a little weak with your stock head unit. But using an amplifier really brings these things to life!! The clarity is impeccable. These speakers offer a mostly flat response with a slight variation of 1.9db peaks I would recommend these to anyone looking to start a beginner system looking for Sound QUALITY over volume. Being a Long time fan of Harmon & Kardon they didn't let me down with this new series

After installing these speakers to my front doors, the mid bass difference between these and my old set of speakers just with the stock radio itself was immediately noticeable. Of course, I am going to complete the set by getting another pair for the rear doors, the back window, and even top it off with a subwoofer with an aftermarket radio (when i get the money) so I can get an even better experience with these. a little peeve of mine is that wish that the tweeters would get a little louder, but I think that's just because of the stock radio and my crossover setting (there's a button for 0db and +3db), but the woofer sounds just wonderful. Just be sure to use a little bit of sound deadening on the doors just in case of anything loose rattling because my car window trims just can't handle the output on these speakers.

After the dealership blew out my passenger side door speaker I had decided to look for new ones. The Best Buy service rep had recommended the JBL’s which I don’t regret. Compared to the VW stock speakers the JBL’s have a much better sound quality. The speakers that were installed did need a minor adjustment to make them fit but the service person who had installed them did such a fantastic job you could never know that the speakers were replaced minus that the new ones weren’t broken. I myself mostly listen to talk radio through my smart phone and occasionally music. Listening to either one makes a big difference wit the JBL Component Car Speakers. Plus I had an excellent service person who was very friendly, and an excellent installation man.

I was so excited to get these installed in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited because I have read so many great reviews. I went off the recommendation of a Best Buy car tech and connected the speakers to a alpine ktp-445u amp to get the best sound possible from the speakers. I had them installed by the Best Buy geek squad. I was so excited to pick up the car and and hear the speakers, but when I heard them for the first time it was a monster let down... my stock speakers actually sounded better... these speakers sounded totally flat and have absolutely no base. The mids and high do sound OK on certain tracks but I’m so disappointed. I would highly recommend NOT buying these speakers. Lots of money down the drain...

Bought this as an entry level component system for my nephew. Thoughts: (compared side by side against entry level Alpine Component system) - Fairly Bright Sounding (alpine was more balanced overall) - Clarity when amped was more defined than alpine - Mid-bass was ok, not outstanding, but acceptable - Being ran off a mid-level alpine head unit with advertised 25W rms per channel, these speakers actually sounded great in a hatchback. - With a little tuning and tweaking it would suit most normal listeners' taste. - These are not audiophile speakers by a long shot. Don't expect FOCAL UTOPIA results for this price. - We went with the JBL because my nephew prefers the brighter sounding type.

I picked up the component set mainly for the woofers for my 2004 Saab 9-3. Due to the factor doors speakers being 2 ohms (2.3) which matched the jbls. The car has the 13speaker system so the fiber optic system, filters through the head unit and 2 other amps can be frustrating. Besides that, I installed the woofers in the door with the factor mount bracket and it is very worth the upgrade for that car. My other saab 9-3 I had infinitys reference, and I would say they are pretty close in build quality, the references Seem to have a larger magnet and do have a higher rms but I always trust Harmon to provide a decent product.

I had to replace a pair of polks components. one of the woofers started buzzing unfortunately. I replaced it with these since i am running a 2 ohm system and i will say these sound as good or better than the polks. Good snappy mids and highs like my rear infinitys . they do have lows but i dont recomend running them at 70 wpc bustin out the bass on these. Obviously like any system depending on the car etc. These were easy to install since i have all my crossovers in the back of my passat where my monsoon was located so i use factory wires took me about 15 mins a side

JBL speakers have never let me down. I replaced the front door speakers in my car with these, and the woofers produce clear and tight bass even at excessive volume! Adding extra bass made them sound distorted and they actually sound best with the low EQ set flat on the stereo. The tweeters sound smooth, but a bit too bright for my tastes even set to 0db gain, so I reduced the high EQ on my stereo to tame them. The crossover box was a bit of trouble to figure out where to install inside the door panel, but overall I am very satisfied with these speakers. My little sedan thumps now!

Toyota Tundra have a unique speaker mounts (as most other large vehicles do). I replaced mine with JBL's from Best Buy that sound the same or better than original.JBL's for a fraction of the cost that it would have been from Toyota. I did have to cut the mounting bracket from the old speakers and mount the new speakers to it, This was very little extra work for a savings of $325. there are plenty of youtube videos to show you how to do this or you can have Best Buy install them and still save a bundle.

I researched these online before I purchased them for my cavalier, I purchased qforms kick panels for the speakers. I also like the fact that they are 2 ohm speakers which helps my Rockford Fosgate amp perform better by putting out more power, which makes them sound so much better the mid bass is unreal and now I can feel the snare drum and the tweeters are clear and don't sound shrill like a lot of tweeters

I bought these to replace blown speakers in my 2010 Chevy Malibu. They sound great with the factory radio. The trick is to make sure that the wattage ratings match or are similar to the power of your head unit or they won't sound right. Geek squad helped me out allot on that one. JBL are usually very accurate in articulating music and these work well with lots of punch and hardly any distortion at high volumes.
