Customers appreciate the 9.1-Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos/DTS:X for its awesome sound quality, great bass, and the immersive Dolby Atmos experience. Many find the setup process to be very easy and enjoy its ease of use with their TVs. However, some customers have experienced connectivity issues and find the battery life to be just ok. Additionally, a few customers have noted that the remote is not back-lit and have expressed concern over the charging design.

Works great, sounds even better. Have it for a while now. Haven’t had a problem, love the fact that I can place the small speakers around the living room for even better sound. Feels like I’m at the movies all the time.

I really like the sound the bar sends out. Speakers detach easily and sound great when positioned differently also. The bass sounds really good. Very much worth the $. Was super easy to hook-up. I did it all myself. Very happy with my purchase.

I was skeptical that the Bar 9.1 would meet my expectations, but was pleasantly surprised at efficacy of the Atmos effect and the room filling sound that it produces. I have retired my receiver and and discrete speakers as a result, and much to my wife’s satisfaction.

I was SHOCKED when I first heard the sound quality! Totally unexpected. The speakers that detach stay charged long, overall a great system. Would recommend

This sound bar is amazing. I use it for everyday things I watch on YouTube and for movies and music. It blows my mind with all of those. The bass is incredible and shakes the whole house.

Reviews are so insightful. Thanks to everyone that took the time to share their views on the JBL system. Here are my experiences in purchasing and hearing the system: 1) I listened to the system in Best Buy. Big Sound! Does it translate to the home in a normal setting? 2) Multiple complaints on the system from many review platforms. Did it translate to my home? At $1,200 for a sound bar/subwoofer, it warranted probing into reviews and talking to Best Buy installers first. My thoughts and recommendations: 1) Yes, the sound is “Big” at home. I had “Avengers: End Game” on and was pleasantly surprised at the detachable satellite surround sound (ATMOS). The removable speakers helped emerse you in the experience! Light-years better than my 4 year-old Samsung soundbar and subwoofer. 2) The bass, mid and low tones are exceptional. A “wow”. 3) Highly recommend having Best Buy installers put in. Is it hard, no? But wanted them to take responsibility that everything would work properly (eg: Chrome Casting, satellite speakers, ect) 4) I use the audio system to run Spotify (Chrome Casting). Works great. Nice sound. Reminder it is a soundbar, but 10x’s better then Alexa. Now for “watch outs”! (Did the negative reviews transfer to my home?): 1) So far not experiencing the satellite speaker charging issues. Note: When you turn your TV OFF, the bar should indicate “Standby”. The end speakers should then show a charging “red dot”. 2) Sound Interruptions to satellites. Yes, 3 interruptions in 2 hours (2-3 seconds). Question: Is it something in our house hampering the signal or is it a JBL engineering flaw. Unknown. 3) Trouble hearing the higher tones or voices. In TV mode, no. In Movie mode, somewhat. The music and/or fight scenes tend to over-power the voices. My hope is with enough feedback that JBL could remedy this through firmware updates. Overall, the system has exceptional sound! Can you get more reliable and better sounds with dedicated satellites at 2x’s the price (Sonos), sure. Also, my wife “approves” of detachable satellites vs permanent fixtures- JBL functionally works best for my situation. Where the system has some issues, you have to decide if these are tolerable or deal brakers!

The incredible house-shaking 10" subwoofer was attractive enough, but the way you can detach the side speakers to make them wireless rear speakers really tops this one off for me. My dad couldn't even tell where the sound was coming from saying he heard it everywhere

I have now had this for just about two years and it has exceeded my expectations. Still sounds great to this day. Very nice being able to disconnect two smaller speakers from the bar for full surround sound feeling.

The system was absolutely amazing. Very easy to set up and connect. The sound was exceptional. I only returned it because it was WAY too much for my tiny 500sqft apt. When I own a home someday I will 100% buy again.

Ended up returning for Sonos. The bass is where it shines. However, the lack of being able to make adjustments lead to us returning. The bass would drown out some of the vocals. The detachable rears are cool though.

I love the sound, quality and use of wireless rear speakers. Converts a clean living room into a theater in no time. I have a 5.2.4 Bowers and Wilkins/SVS home theater in my basement and while the JBL sound bar doesn't quite keep up, I'm never disappointed when watching a movie on this. (There is no replacement for larger drivers/enclosures). This subwoofer is no slouch. It will absolutely shake the house, I am genuinely impressed. Downfalls: - Falls out of sync with the Google home all the time. - Sometimes video pass through has errors and flashes or just will not play and I have to disconnect power and reconnect to get it working again, issues you should not have at this price range.

So my biggest grip with soundbar systems is the way most run wires between the surround sound speakers and subwoofers. It usually means having to put the subwoofer next to your couch or run wires all over the place. For me, this has always bothered me because it can lead to an unappealing living room, aesthetically. This is where the JBL 9.1 shines. There is something so awesomely futuristic about how the rear speakers connect wirelessly and also how great the whole setup manages to sound. The included subwoofer is a BEAST of a unit (both in performance and size) that easily outdoes budget systems like the Vizio M-Series (this one replaced an M51A and M512) and the audio sounds clear without any crackling or distortion. Ditto on the surround. I can be sitting off-center and with system to the side of me, and I can still make out surround sound portions of audio clearly. All this being said, there are some small nuisances here and there. For example, sometimes audio cuts out ever so briefly and I'm not sure if this is an issue with the bar itself or just interference from the (many) wireless items in my house. Regardless, this doesn't happen often and I can easily go 3-4 hours watching things without it happening. Another thing is that the surrounds don't charge (when connected to the bar) unless if the system is in stand-by. So while you can use them if they're discharged or low on battery while connected to the bar, they won't actually charge unless if the system is off and in stand-by. A way to remedy this is by just having a USB charger (either portable or wall charger) and a couple of 6-10ft microUSB cables to easily plug the surround sound speakers in. Since discharged speakers can be used if plugged in, this will avoid having to remove them from speaker stands (if you plan on doing this) or if you forget to charge them. These small issues aside, this soundbar is easily worth the money if you can find it on sale. At full price...well, if you can afford this system at full price without batting an eye then yes, it still would be too!

This soundbar is compact, and easy to setup. My TV is older so I am using optical fiber cable instead of ARC HDMI, but the sound quality is great. I play movies as well as music and the sound field is rich and faithful to the movie. Dialog clarity was a concern and I am happy this speaker provides clear dialog even for louder movies. The bass is powerful and I keep it at 4/5 max for sufficient thump without making it overpowering. The detachable speakers retain the charge comfortably even for 3 hour long Bollywood movies. Overall for the price this is a great buy. I would highly recommend for medium to large rooms.

Although an audiophile might not enjoy the sound, it is stunning for a casual home cinema fan. It’s loud, has convincing atmos performance and the truly wireless speakers provide a lot of flexibility.
