Great JBL sound with powerful Subwoofer. True wireless surrounds although the battery life not as good as JBL states. When the surrounds are separated from the main bar, the connections are exposed. Apparently, JBL supplies end caps in certain countries but not the US. How weird is that? Also, they don't have an app which would have been nice. I permanently wired the surrounds using the micro usb port so the end caps would have been nice. Is it worth $1,000? Sound wise yes. Features NO!!

It's over a year since I purchase this JBL 9.1 Soundbar system and after some updates and bug fixes I can conclude that I'm very satisfied with the Sound quality of this unit. It really develops a real 3-dimensional sound, ATMOS and DTS:X experience is over the top. I've seen some reviews complaining about the lack of dialogue for which I'll recommend research and spend some time with the settings and you will find amazing results. The only complaint I have is the lack of at least one more HDMI input but not an issue if your tv is eARC capable, overall I'm so happy with this system.

I'm very pleased with this purchase... my wife and i were between the sonos setup and this.... Sonos would have been significantly more expense. For our purposes this system is perfect. The rear speakers sound surprisingly good for being wireless and battery operated... you get a true surround sound out of them. Similar systems with wireless rear speakers struggle to get a much of a surround effect. The subwoofer is externally powered and rattles my walls. There are certainly better wired reciever systems out there but for a compact easy wireless setup this is great

Excellent system, easy to set up and paired with little effort. As for the sound, Wow! Rich with plenty of Bass. Though wish it went louder. All in all, great system worth the higher price.

This JBL Soundbar has great sound quality. I love that the 2 end speakers can attach to the soundbar to be recharged and can detach (wireless) to be put anywhere in the room. Very simple to connect.

This is a good soundbar especially if looking for Atmos. Music and movie playback is good. This is a perfect setup for a small room and the flexibility of the detachable surround speakers is a bonus. The major issues with this soundbar are: 1. Lack of an interface or app to know what software update happened. 2. Frequent disconnect of the surround speakers. 3. Low dialogue volumes. 4. Configuration doesnt work most of the time.

JBL Bar 9.1 About What I Expected

The JBL Bar 9.1 is a great sounding bar while giving you Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound processing. The wireless rear speakers work best when they’re within 15 feet of the bar. Any farther away than that and they begin to cutout. The sub is the best part of the system. It will easily shake the room and sounds better than my Velodyne sub. My only wish is that you could control the volume on the front and center channels. Would be nice if it had a manual EQ as well. It’s a little pricey, but you’re essentially getting 10 speakers and a receiver/processor. I’m enjoying it!

Pros: - Detachable wireless rear speakers are perfect for my living room layout - Sound quality is generally excellent for shows/movies that have good audio mixing - Subwoofer has more than enough power (I have to turn it down to not scare the dogs) - Atmos height audio contributes to overall immersion - Bluetooth and Chromecast for music streaming adds flexibility if you don't have compatible music apps on your TV Cons: - eArc is fussy with my TV set (see below) - Room calibration tool took multiple tries and I'm not sure if it did anything - Only one HDMI IN port - Occasional audio drops (for me, only when watching Dolby Atmos movies on HBO Max... app issue?) - Occasionally weird audio filtering is applied when listening to music For reference, I have a Sony XBR-75X900H set, so not all of this will apply to you. Bought this set because the wife would not allow visible wires anywhere around our living room. Setup with my TV was easy (this was prior to my TV's HDMI 2.1 update), and after a couple of adjustments to the limited EQ options from the JBL remote (Atmos, sub, and rear speaker volume), I was off and running. Couple months later the HDMI 2.1 update came and I immediately went to enable eArc so that I can have full audio bandwidth glory for my TV and PS5. That's where I experienced my first full-on audio drop where it just went mute and never came back. Restarting the TV didn't resolve it. I had to unplug the TV and soundbar completely in order to get it working again. Both the soundbar and TV have received updates since then, but I still cannot get eArc to work for a long period of time before dropping out, so I've disabled it for the time being. Hard to judge the soundbar on a connectivity level since it and the TV rely on each other and I don't have another TV to plug the JBL into. As far as audio goes, movies/TV shows sound phenomenal with it, and the ability to dock the rear speakers to enhance the soundstage is a great feature. I haven't run into the rechargeable rear speakers dying on me yet, but you can plug them in via micro USB if you want.

This sound bar is amazing! Completely wireless Bluetooth connection to the sub and remote rear speakers. The rear speakers can be left as part of a single sound bar or hung from the included hangers. Sound and bass are excellent and loud enough to fill any room. Probably one of my favorite bestbuy purchases to date.
