This is a great sound bar, and quite the package for the price. Whats in the box: sound bar, subwoofer, wall mounting brackets, remote. Setup: Mostly pretty easy. I love that this included wall mounting brackets for everything, some other brands sell them separately, so I was ready to go out of the box. It includes a template, and also the brackets to mount the rear speakers as well. Plug in the tv, the input source and turn it on and you're pretty much good to go. I did have some difficulty getting the airplay/wifi setup to complete, but after I did a "reset wifi", it worked just fine. Sound quality: I love the removable rear speakers that are truly wireless. I mounted them behind me, and they (usually) turn on and off on their own without me having to use the individual power buttons. Every once in awhile they won't turn on with the main bar right away. If I wait a few minutes they usually turn on, or you can just turn them on your own. The surround sound effect is very good for a sound bar. With the main bar having left, right and center, and the rear left and right in addition to the subwoofer. Sound quality is very good, though I wish there was a bit more bass out of the subwoofer. The included remote is very easy to use, and so far I haven't had any issues with HDMI-CEC getting confused. It all works very well. Overall, I really like this sound bar. It is easy to use, and I haven't run into any configuration issues like I have with other sound bars where they just stop working and you have to play around with buttons to get it going again. It's expensive, but not over the top, and I feel like its worth it.

The sound is great but the product was not ready for the public. I had yo send it out to JBL within 3 months of buying it for constantly disconnecting when using the wireless feature. The 2 speaker pods also did not charge when connected to the sound bar. The issue persist after getting the whole system switched out by JBL. I never take the pods off the sound bar and have a direct connection from to the tv. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I have to reset the system every two days because it doesn’t have sound

Terrible, this purchse has been a joke. After your "professional " home theater expert came to our home this is what he recommended. I paid to have your geek squad install it. Which was another mistake. After you supposedly installed it, it keeps turning off. You came back 3 more times and still didn't get it figured out. Still messed up to this day

I purchased this Soundbar in October, 2020. I am on my fourth one. It was delivered yesterday, and it has all of the same problems the first three did. This is a complete waste of money. I think you could spend a lot less, and get something that is better quality, and more reliable.

I bought this because I have other JBL products but this theater system was not good. When I got it, I hooked it up and it sounded great. The next day it was playing good but then the sound got distorted. I returned it and the other one sounded distorted after a few days. What a disappointment.

I've previously held the view that soundbars can't compare to a full, discreet home theater setup. I'm not sure I'd call myself a "audiophile", but I can be kinda picky. This soundbar definitely impressed me on all levels. If you're looking for a quick and easy surround setup without the fuss of a receiver, a mess of speakers and speakerwire, and still be wow'd, you won't be disappointed with this. So, lets get right to the highlight feature: the true wireless surrounds. Yes; this magnetically attached speakers come off and have their own battery. Place them wherever you want; or mount them with provided mounting hardware. Or carry them with you into the kitchen for whole home sound. Whatever, it doesn't care. And I never had an issue with range in my apartment. I listened to music on low volume all day with the surrounds detached, then watched Netflix for 2-3 hours, then the next day another 2-3 hours of Netflix and it still hadn't told me to charge the speakers. So I'm not horribly concerned about battery life. But, even if you are, and you have these in semi-permanant locations, they have a micro-usb port you can use to to charge them (or keep continually connected to power), so you don't even have to worry about charging them if you don't want. JBL was nice enough to let you set the volume on the surrounds (low/med/high), and I felt they sounded great at all levels, and never washed out by the sound bar itself. The subwoofer too has it's own level control, which is 1-6 I think. I kept it at around 3-4 for some pretty comfortable punchy bass. If you turn the soundbar volume down to below 4, the subwoofer turns off. A nice touch, such as for late at night, but I wish it was more of an opt-in instead of forced on you. The main soundbar sounded great, and never left me disappointed. Setup was generally easy, though I thought the quickstart guide was not super helpful, so I suggest downloading the full manual from the JBL website. Chromecast setup was easy, and worked perfectly fine. Once it was connected to wifi (which can only be setup through the Google home app), it downloaded firmware updates for both the sound bar and the surround speakers, which took awhile. I'm not too crazy about the hidden front LED display, but it works. Not really something to get too hung up about. tl;dr: I'm tempted to replace my 5.1 home theater setup with this soundbar.

    A real "TRUE" Wireless system

I've been excited to get this and I set it up the moment it arrived at my door. Let me just say, if you have this shipped it weighs just shy of 60lbs and comes in a box about 5 feet tall so some people may need assistance getting this into the home. So about the Bar 9.1. This really does have truly wireless rear speakers. Most surround sound systems I've used say wireless but they're not really as the rear speakers have a wire between them. Not the JBL Bar, this has real, no wires connected speakers. And it's just so much more convenient. They are also pretty light and super easy to move them around to suit your needs. The speakers magnetically connect to the soundbar itself and this charges them also. and when you are ready to go full surround you just pull them from the soundbar. It's a fantastic design. And you can also USB power the speakers but then, of course, they're no longer wireless. The sound on this set is fantastic and it has a great set up, not only do you get left and right channels but you also get height channels too. This gives an excellent surround sound experience and with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, you get to hear everything. It fills my living room with sound ever so easy and would work great in a much larger space than I have. We watched the Dark Knight and the sound from the 4k player is awesome and adds to the immersiveness. It's easy to set up and the sub is substantial but it provides quality lows. This also has an awesome feature that auto-calibrates the audio to the room it's in for peak performance. When it comes to settings this is super simple and maybe a little too simple for some as you have your basic features only like volume and bass, Atmos buttons, and rear speakers controls. Nothing really to tweak here so maybe this isn't for the audiophile. Overall this is a great package that offers true wireless speaker setup with a very clean, clear detailed sound that's easy to use and set-up. Im happy with this and would recommend to anyone looking for a good wireless system

    Amazing soundbar, exceeded expectations

I'll start this off by saying this is the best soundbar I've ever used, period. That statement doesn't come lightly, as I've tested over 10 different ones through the past three years or so, trying to find the perfect one for my bedroom TV system. Finally, the search is over. Again, I'll preface everything that I'm saying with regards to sound being the utmost priority; I have a nicer 7.1.2 sound system set up in my "theater" room but am aware of the space real speakers take up. I didn't want that in my bedroom so finding a good soundbar was the option I would concede. Enter the JBL BAR 9.1 soundbar. First off, the appearance is solid. It looks and feels like a premium piece of tech, which is good. One of my bigger complaints with any soundbar system is the subwoofer, so I was surprised at how deep the 10" could dig. Not quite a separate subwoofer material, but considering a decent sub starts at $400 by itself I'd count this as good. There are many different sound modes to play around with, and the setup was pretty easy. Getting the mimic of Dolby Atmos sound is tough to do, and while I don't think the implementation is perfect, this JBL soundbar certainly does a better job than other bars I've used in the past. One of the conveniences I didn't think I'd appreciate was the easily-removable rear wireless speakers. They're easy to swap and turn on, should you want them (and you should), but don't take up space or need to be plugged into work. The only real con that makes this a tough sell is the price: at $1000, it certainly isn't cheap. But, you're paying for quality sound and that's something that is hard to quantify (if you appreciate it in the first place) Overall, there really isn't much to not like here, and overall I'd recommend this JBL soundbar to most people.
