This is an amazing sound bar! The quality is great! The only down side is there is not much when it comes to equalization between the highs and lows. You can change the depth of the sub and the detachable speakers, but other sound bars have more fine tuning. Still! Very crisp sound

So first things first... I managed to get this open box with 25% off making it a solid bar for the price. MAKE SURE YOUR TV HAS ARC AND YOUR DEVICES (Xbox, PlayStation, blu ray) ARE 4K UHD!!!! So many people reviewing on here complain of no atmos sound need to realize you need 4K devices running 2.1 HDMI cable from Arc to Arc on the respective tv and bar. I’m running a 4K tv from my bar and my Xbox directly into the in on the bar. Flawless atmos sound with great 4K visuals cast into my TV. My gripes with this system are the lack of EQ controls to find tune the device. I respect the simplicity of the high, mid, low but a true sound snob will want to tinker with it more. Other than the lack of control, I can’t complain too much. Sound is top notch, sub pounds and the rear speakers when positioned correctly are a great accent to the front bar, just don’t expect the rear to blow your ears off as they’re more intended for background noise as the atmos will decode.

Really great sound out of this JBL. I love the detachable speakers and the surround sound it gives the family. The bass from the sub woofer is great for any house. The only issue i have had is connecting to bluetooth so you can play music from your phone. I wish that easier to do.

I was initially going to purchase the Sonos Arc because if it's great reviews, but the salesman at Best Buy suggested I check out the JBL Bar 9.1 and I was blown away by the difference. We have a small media room and don't want wires everywhere, so the detachable, battery-powered rear speakers are the perfect solution - they were incredibly easy to mount and they hold a long charge. The sound quality is excellent and the sub adds a nice oomph to help you really feel what you're watching without being overpowering. My only minor issue is that sometimes the rear speakers don't automatically turn on when starting a movie, but all I have to do is tap the power button on each one and they're fine. Regardless, they're totally worth it and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Love this system. It sound great in my apartment. I love that the side speakers detach and you can place them where ever you want but behind you is the best option to get the full affect.

When everything is working correctly this sound bar is AWESOME! Every now and then, very random, the portable speakers will lose power before expected. Not a huge deal, simply connect them back to the main bar and you have HUGE sound coming from a small package. The Dolby Atmos is a must have once you hear it.

I had an old Panasonic 5.1 surrounded sound for about 18+ years and it was finally time for an upgrade. Saw this one in store at Best Buy and HAD TO HAVE IT! Big upgrade from my old system and this sounds GREAT in my living room.

The sound that comes from this soundbar is pretty amazing. The Dolby Atmos and surround are great. The inly down side is having to plug the rear speakers in to recharge. I bought mini usb cables and leave them plugged in so i dont have to move them to recharge.

Great modern soundbar able to maximize the current tech and software. I was very surprised on the great quality of the wireless rear speakers. I've switched over from an old 7.1 Denon with 3001 KEF satellites and very impressed with the JBL quality.

Have had some issues with connecting to wifi to support updates. Had to call JBL customer service and that was a joke. Eventually got it figured out on our own. Good sound but we like the JBL 3.1 much better. Better bass and sound.

My Experience at Home-- comparing reviews

Reviews are so insightful. Thanks to everyone that took the time to share their views on the JBL system. Here are my experiences in purchasing and hearing the system: 1) I listened to the system in Best Buy. Big Sound! Does it translate to the home in a normal setting? 2) Multiple complaints on the system from many review platforms. Did it translate to my home? At $1,200 for a sound bar/subwoofer, it warranted probing into reviews and talking to Best Buy installers first. My thoughts and recommendations: 1) Yes, the sound is “Big” at home. I had “Avengers: End Game” on and was pleasantly surprised at the detachable satellite surround sound (ATMOS). The removable speakers helped emerse you in the experience! Light-years better than my 4 year-old Samsung soundbar and subwoofer. 2) The bass, mid and low tones are exceptional. A “wow”. 3) Highly recommend having Best Buy installers put in. Is it hard, no? But wanted them to take responsibility that everything would work properly (eg: Chrome Casting, satellite speakers, ect) 4) I use the audio system to run Spotify (Chrome Casting). Works great. Nice sound. Reminder it is a soundbar, but 10x’s better then Alexa. Now for “watch outs”! (Did the negative reviews transfer to my home?): 1) So far not experiencing the satellite speaker charging issues. Note: When you turn your TV OFF, the bar should indicate “Standby”. The end speakers should then show a charging “red dot”. 2) Sound Interruptions to satellites. Yes, 3 interruptions in 2 hours (2-3 seconds). Question: Is it something in our house hampering the signal or is it a JBL engineering flaw. Unknown. 3) Trouble hearing the higher tones or voices. In TV mode, no. In Movie mode, somewhat. The music and/or fight scenes tend to over-power the voices. My hope is with enough feedback that JBL could remedy this through firmware updates. Overall, the system has exceptional sound! Can you get more reliable and better sounds with dedicated satellites at 2x’s the price (Sonos), sure. Also, my wife “approves” of detachable satellites vs permanent fixtures- JBL functionally works best for my situation. Where the system has some issues, you have to decide if these are tolerable or deal brakers!

This system is beyond amazing. The sound quality is amazing. The subwoofer has incredible bass and the fact you can remove the side speakers to add more surround sound is awesome.
