Extremely happy with the sound bar! It sounds amazing and the detachable surround speakers offer gray surround sound

Amazing sound, but you must have a really good Wi-Fi set up to ensure you do not experience sound interruptions with the wireless sub and surround sound speakers. We were very happy with the sound when playing music but whenever we streamed any video content on our TV, especially in Dolby atmos mode, we would get seriously glitchy sound out of the peripheral speakers and sub, even when the speakers were hooked up to the main central sound bar. We called geek squad and they weren’t able to help over the phone aside from “exchange the unit” until my husband realized that maybe our Wi-Fi needed some help. We have a fairly large house with Wi-Fi mesh nodes throughout the house and the nodes needed a firmware update. We updated the firmware and then my husband “bound” the entire system to the closest node (previously the JBL system was connecting to a node on a different floor in the house) and voila! Glitchy sound gone! Back to crisp high quality sound that is literally and figuratively music to this audiophile’s ears :)

I was somewhat forced into buying this sound bar because my Onkyo 5.1 surround A/V receiver died. Couldn't handle listening to my LCD TV speakers. A new 75" mini LED is in my future next year as several TV manufacturers are jumping on the mini LED wagon. With Dolby Vision and Atmos becoming mainstream some TV manufacturers next year are upgrading their HDMI version to 2.1 to allow pass through for Dolby as mentioned above. This JBL 9.1 bar fit the bill having ARC/eARC connections. Another selling point was having detachable wireless chargeable surround sound speakers. I've had a couple days of listening to the speakers with action movies and a variety of seasonal programming. I did read a few pre-purchase reviews that some felt the vocal was lacking and needed a separate control mechanism to adjust it. I've experienced this as well with some programming and the couple of movies I've watched. There's other sound bars out there that provide a separate vocal control. For the cost of this bar there should have been without a shadow of a doubt a separate vocal control. I'm certainly not a tech engineer but I would think JBL could provide a firmware update to allow this function. If not that at least an app. The sound is so rich and pleasing except for the vocal. Even my wife mentioned sometimes it's hard to understand vocals. If you set the bass to level 1 or 2 it's pretty good on vocals but you loose the midrange and bass richness so what's the point? I'll listen for another week to decide keep or return. Leaning towards return. Come on JBL and fix this issue that not only myself but others speak of.

Looked forever for a wireless option to replace my old wired surround sound system from Bose. Decided to give JBL a shot with the 9.1. I've been so impressed with the quality of this bar system. When you crank up the volume to above 15 it rivals my old system and is totally wireless!!! I'd highly recommend it, especially if you don't wanna drop $2500 on another brands components that sounds virtually the same as this.

While the sound and detachable speakers are awesome, after 3 years i have to keep unplugging and plugging back in to make it function. If you look up this product toull see its a MAJOR issue. For a $1000 sound bar this is wildly unacceptable. I have a 10 year old Sony sound bar working with flying colors.

after finding a couple of small, fixable bugs, this is a great systems. Geek Squad installed and it's working great.

Just purchased an 85" Sony Television and it needed something. For A Big Picture JBL delivers The Big Sound. Well Worth every penny I spent on the Soundbar. I have other sound bars and surround systems in the past but this JBL surpasses the others by leaps and bounds.

This is a great system with top notch sound. Love the battery speakers for the back no wires needed!! Sub has great sound that fills the room. I don't have a great room for sound quality in my living room I have a 1907 house. But this system does an incredible job of filling the room with 3d sound.

Great sound bar system. With Dolby Atmos it’s amazing. I had the Sony HZT9F 3.1 and it was garbage. No bass and the sound was tinny. I read about this sound bar and exchanged the Sony for this. Not looking back. The only thing is that I wish there was a light to indicate if the system is on or not. Definitely worth the money.

Really wanted to like this unit and i was used to a high-output 10 inch powwered subwoofer 5/1 system that shook the house but was also very user adjustable for low-end sound output for day to day use. I really like JBL and figured I would need one one of the more expensive sound bars to complete with a home receiver and 10 inch powered sub. Although this unit sounded great at volume 30 with everything maxed the down low sound output was barely adjustable and didnt really provide much of an "sound experience" if watching sports and such without the volume being cranked mostly to not able to adjust the gain on the subwoofer independently. Also after three attempts it would not updated to the latest firmware.Returning this and will look for an updated home receiver to replace my Onkyo which doesnt seem to like the output form my new Samsung Q70-

I really couldn't be happier with the sound quality on these, and this would be an easy 5 star review if it wasn't for the persistent connection issues. When on streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu, the sound completely cuts off for 3-5 seconds at a time, sometimes every few minutes, sometimes more than twice a minute. This is not an issue when connected via Bluetooth (on my phone, for example), but when the system is plugged into my TV via HDMI eARC, this happens regularly. Bought a month ago and has been happening regularly since. If it weren't for this issue, this system would be amazing all around - but this is almost a complete deal breaker.

This JBL Soundbar might be the best they have ever manufactured. The removable and portable rechargeable battery powered speakers can be placed anywhere in the room. Incredible sound with a 10' powerful sub makes for the best entertainment in the comfort of your man cave.

The sound is so realistic it’s scary at times… I love the option to remove the 2 speakers for a complete surround sound (completely wireless and charges when you put back)

Bought this for my husband and Christmas, he loves it! Wonderful sound quality.

We are very satisfied. Just what we expected. Love the tone quality.
