    JBL Sound that Delivers!

The JBL BAR 1000 offers great sound and audio quality. I have a high end sound system and TV in my living room to compare the audio with. The JBL 1000 was installed in my master bedroom which I equipped also with a high end TV. Unboxing was easy and straight forward. Nothing special. Setup was quick and great. Plug in the sound bar's power cord and plug an HDMI cable to the sound bar and TV with each port supporting ARC. Plug in your subwoofer. Next, the left and right speakers attach via magnets which is very satisfying when the click in. Attach to have one giant beam if you don't want rear speakers or attach to charge them as rear speakers when the batteries are low. I wanted to use the detachable speakers as wireless so I charged them and detached them and placed where they would be prior to performing the initial start up. You have the option to plug in each rear speaker with a usb c cable to charge or to keep plugged in. I prefer to have them wireless and charge them while needed. Easy for me to do and so far they seemed like they need to be charged once a week with my usage. I just magnet them in during the day that way when I go to bed they are ready to go for an ultimate dolby atmos experience when watching tv in bed. Charging seems like it just takes a few hours and not drastically long. They display a red light through the speaker grill while charging and then switch to white when fully charged. There are also covers for each side of the bar and rear speakers to cover up where they charge and connect that way they look flushed. They are super easy to remove and add back on. Really good idea and help make the system look great. The initial setup was also very quick once everything is powered on and ready, download the JBL One app and connect your system. Then setup a calibration which only takes a minute and actually adjusts your equalizer perfectly to your room. The app allows you to do so much like increase the rear speaker volume, access an in-app remote, adjust the equalizer manually, audio sync adjustment. You can also setup inapp music like amazon music or tune in and more, however a big flaw is that it does not pair with Apple Music which what I use. Luckily you can stream via wifi to the JBL 1000 which I prefer to do anyway. Setup really was quick other than waiting for a full charge on the rear speakers. One super cool feature: If you have multiple wifi audio systems like I do you can stream to multiple different systems at the same time. I have an iPhone 14 pro and I am sure this also has to do with having a newer phone so it may not work for everyone. However, I had the whole house jamming using one device. Now for the main part....the audio..... Dolby Atmos is definitely there and is strong. The up firing speakers located in the bar and rear speakers create a 3D experience. The first action packed movie I watched (with Atmos support) made it feel like the fight was in arms reach. So Cool! BASS is there and if it's not well jump on that app and crank it up. While not as brain bashing as my other high end system (reminder the sub was almost as much as the entire JBL system) it sounds awesome. The sub is large and tall but worth it to create that 3D immersive sound. The sound bar is clear and crisp. I can watch shows and movies in confidence that I will hear every moment. The best part is I have had no trouble with audio distortion or lip sync problems. Everything was perfect right from the start. Music sounds awesome. Although I am on the younger side, I listen to the Oldies and wow do they sound great. Clear, crisp, full, immersive, are words that come to mind to describe this system when playing music. Key note: My TV and streaming (equipped with audio controls) remotes can control the sound bar without any additional setup. The TV controls the JBL's volume so it's perfect if that is your pet peeve like it is for me. Easy and great.

Great surround sound and flexibility of placement

This review is based on using the JBL Bar 1000 in a 20' x 35' room with a projector for the past week. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the sound bar fills the entire room, enhanced further by the detachable surround speakers. In the box is the sound bar with power cord, subwoofer with power cord, 2 surround speakers that are standalone or attach to the sound bar, remote control, HDMI cable, mounting hardware for the surround speakers and sound bar, side caps (when surround speakers are detached), and quick start guide. The sound bar has the following ports - ethernet, optical, USB, HDMI ARC and HDMI (x3), in addition to bluetooth and wifi connectivity, allowing for multiple input options. Setup is a simple plug and play, however you get more functionality by using the JBL One app, which also interfaces with Alexa or Chromecast to stream music directly from a mobile device. Through the app you can set up wifi, manage software updates, set equalizer, control rear speaker volume, calibrate, sync audio, and create a "moment" which is the ability to select a playlist / station, time to play, volume, and auto-off time. For positioning there are options to calibrate sound, which I use frequently, as the teens like the move the speakers. They prefer attached to the sound bar for gaming, and moved behind them when watching movies. The bar can either rest on a surface or mount to the wall, using included template and mounting hardware. While the detachable speakers are held in place fairly securely via magnets, I would recommend making sure they do not hang off a surface, as they could disconnect from the sound bar if bumped. This sound bar has a ton of flexibility for movement and placement, the subwoofer is wireless, as are the surround sound speakers, which are also USB-C rechargeable battery powered, so you aren't constrained by finding a wall outlet for surround sound. As far as sound, the sound bar fills the 700 sq ft area seamlessly with rich music, fantastic surround sound, and clear dialogue, no matter the setting. For testing the teens wanted to watch their favorite dinosaur movies, I found that the surround sound is immersive and significantly enhances the experience as compared to a lower powered surround system we had been using. As for power, this system feels like it was designed for 700 sq ft, boasting 880W output, 10" subwoofer, and MultiBeam technology which is a speaker array method that improves surround sound coverage. Overall this is a very solid sound package, it performs well, has the right sound balance for everything from gaming to high effect movies, and has significant perks with regards to speaker placement and coverage optimization.

I purchased this sound bar on sale thinking it would be an upgrade vs. the JBL 9.1 soundbar that is couple years old. I was disappointed as their older model sounds louder and overall better than their new jbl 1000 soundbar even though on paper the specs on this soundbar are better. Dialogue is difficult to hear and unless you are watching a movie on a 4k/bluray player it doesn’t sound great streaming or watching regular tv. Calibration didn’t help much and its in a small living room. You are better off getting the jbl 9.1 or upgrade to the jbl 1300x for a lot more if you want to stick with JBL. Im hoping for a software upgrade to resolve the underwhelming sound quality and volume issues if not I will be returning it soon.

The JBL Bar 1000 is a fantastic 7.1.4 soundbar that delivers immersive Dolby Atmos audio. Its four up-firing speakers and detachable wireless rear speakers create a 3D soundstage, making movies like Top Gun: Maverick feel like you’re in a theater, with sounds soaring overhead and around you. The 10-inch subwoofer pumps out deep, punchy bass, and PureVoice keeps dialogue clear. With 880 watts, it’s powerful and balanced for movies, games, or music. Setup is simple via the JBL One app, and HDMI eARC ensures high-quality Atmos. The only downsides are occasional recharging for the rear speakers if you don't have usb c wires behind you, awesome Atmos sound, this is a great pick.

The JBL Bar 1000 looks innocuous at first glance. Long dark charcoal bar with speakers and a faceless black remote subwoofer. Check. But upon closer inspection, you discover that each end of the bar is detachable! Attached by magnets, you can place these satellite speakers just about anywhere within the room. Expand your soundstage or create a true surround sound environment. (The little fellas need to go back home to recharge occasionally, but the magnets vs. a mechanical connection make it super easy) Set-up was smooth and fast. The main bar and subwoofer plug into your electrical outlet, connect the bar to your TV with the included HDMI cable (or purchase an optical if you desire), charge up the satellites and walk thru a handful of steps to make sure everyone is communicating. Then…enjoy 880 watts of power emanating from the bar and 10” wireless subwoofer. Integrated software they call “PureVoice” optimizes clarity of dialogue, and a sound calibration feature and DTS:X 3D help you optimize 3d surround sound for your specific space. Coupled with Dolby Atmos, you’re enjoying cinema sound as it’s meant to be experienced. I’m just starting to appreciate the JBL One app. It allows you to customize equalization, music volume, auto-off timing and other features. Note that the satellite speakers can be “permanently” located and connected to a USB-C power source.

    Another solid JBL soundbar

The JBL Bar1000 is a great truly wireless Soundbar option for enveloping surround sound. I have the previous version, the 9.1 Soundbar and there are some improvements, but nothing monumental. The Bar1000 is a solid soundbar with plenty of features and options to make an easy home theater. There are 4 major parts to the soundbar, the wireless subwoofer, main soundbar, and 2 detachable speakers. The units are the same size as the previous 9.1 sound bar. The surround speakers are held to the soundbar magnetically and can be used there or detached to place anywhere in your room. Unlike the previous model, everything you need to mount the detachable speakers and sound bar are included, end caps, screws, drywall mounts. The only item not included for mounting are screws for mounting the soundbar holders. Although some 9.1 sounds bars came with the mounting hardware, mine did not. The endcaps hide the connections and make everything look nicer on the surround speakers and soundbar. The surround speakers have been upgraded to USB-C connections for charging. Having all of this to be ready to mount is a plus over the previous version. There is a new app for a phone or tablet that lets you fully control and connect the soundbar to various internet media, a plus over the previous version’s app. The system is now rated at 880w compared the 820w of the previous version. The units come in a soundbar L shaped box. Lie it on its side, open the now top side and start removing the Styrofoam. It’s easy to remove the pieces, you’ll need a knife or scissors for a few straps and tape removal. A quick start guide gets you setup. Plug in the soundbar and then the other speakers and subwoofer. Let the surround speakers charge for at least 3.5 hours. All the units should connect to each other by default, if not you can manually connect them again. The unit has eARC, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It has added 2 more HDMI ports for a total of 3 in from the previous version making it more versatile. Connect your HDMI and power cables and you’re ready to go. The remote got slimmer and feels nice in your hand. There are also more options on it than before. The JBL One app recognized and immediately linked with the sound bar. With the app you can connect the soundbar to music services, home controllers etc. The major services were all there. For setup there is a built-in calibration that has two parts. Make sure you do both. First, set the surround speakers next to were you will be seated for listening. Select calibrate and wait for the tones to finish. Then put the speakers in the position they will reside and finish with the 2nd calibration. After it’s done the setup is complete. I found the calibration did a good job. All I did was raise the volume of the surround speakers and everything sounded great. The 3D effect can be put in a low, mid, or high to better project where the sound effects come from. The surround speaker volume can be set to low, med, high, or mute for sound. Great depending on the time of day to make things quieter. Through the app is an easy way to set an equalizer with bass, mid, and treble options. There is a full remote on the app, and a way to see all of the settings and make your 3rd party service connections. I connected my soundbar by the Ethernet port. Once connected, the soundbar reached out and downloaded the latest firmware. You can check the version through the app. You can also check your wi-fi connection and information in the app. Streaming can be done directly through the app. I had no issues setting up music streaming. You can also register the product and access all of the manuals through the app. The full user manual is available online. The soundbar sounds great, like its predecessor. The bass is more than adequate for the setup and the surround speakers fully immerse you. The 3D effects are good for height using Dolby Atmos, or DTS:X. The unit can handle what you through at is and sound good. Compared to the previous version it’s not much better, but has more options. Advantages are the PureVoice can really let voice come through above any background noise. The calibration setup is better for setting and just enjoying. The unit can get plenty loud if you want too. Although the system sounds okay with the surrounds attached, you need to move them around the room to really take advantage of them. With built in batteries, they can be placed or mounted anywhere. A USB-C connection can keep them always powered. With out a power connection they can last up to 12 hours before needing a recharge. Places them on a desk, mount them to a wall, and the 3D and surround sound becomes much better. They are designed to be mobile with no wires needed. With the soundbar and surrounds all having up firing speakers in them, the sensation of height in the sound is noticeable. Overall, this is a good soundbar for a small to medium sized room. It has all the features for full 3D sound and streaming connections. Compared to the previous version sound wise the updates aren’t huge. You might be better off going to the next higher version, 1300X if you want more power. If you want more modern features such as stream and home connections, the Bar1000 will for fill you needs. If you are just getting a soundbar the Bar1000 is an excellent choice.

JBL BAR 1000 is JBL’s latest Home Theater Technology that has arrived taking immersive 3-D audio to the next level. Stunning new system design and performance that surrounds you with front stage experience. First thoughts on opening the JBL BAR 1000 7.1.4-channel soundbar was that it ties in with my entertainment center, blends in nicely with black accent décor’. Beyond the sound production the soundbar system looks fantastic. The JBL 1000 BAR arrives complete with all the accessories, hardware and wiring required to install, especially appreciate that wall mounting hardware is included and quite simple to install. The soundbar installed easily and can be wired in several different configurations, HDMI ARC, eARC and optical are supported. Optical cable not included but that is understandable with today’s HDMI eARC standards. Like the idea that optical is available which may come in handy. Setup. I first downloaded the very well-done BAR 100 Owner’s Manual from their website. The manual is comprehensive in wiring, diagraming seating and speaker placement, walking through the calibration (which the system performs), wall mounting, operation and any details related to the BAR 1000. Kudos on the manual. Installed JBL One app in to complete the installation which the app managed easily. JBL One provides tools for connecting streaming music services, managing play lists, and exploring other streaming services. Quite cool to walk into your home and punch up your favorite tunes. App has many options, a few are Equalizer, supported services for Alexa/Chromecast/Spotify, documentation, and product support. Good app. What knocks my socks off is the JBL BAR 1000 system pushes 880 watts of sound! It delivers the tunes with excellent tone from treble and mid-range to the deep rich bass the 10” wireless Woofer pushes. It is an amazing range of sound from a system that virtually blends into the background. Notes: - Wireless 10” woofer and two detachable rear surround speakers – no wires! - Ethernet port - good for pushing large streaming data packets for 4K and above - Wi-Fi 6 - 802.11ax - USB port: Type A - HDMI HDCP version: 2.3 - 4K Dolby Vision pass-through - “True Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and MultiBeam surround sound” - “PureVoice dialogue enhancement technology” Dialogue comes thru clear and true - Frequency response - 33Hz - 20kHz (-6dB) - Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant This is my first soundbar with Woofer and Surround speakers and the JBL BAR 1000 Spectacularly pushes 880 watts of total 3-D Surround Sound. My home is full of advanced sounds system from living room to bedrooms as well as my garage and the BAR 1000 is a highly welcomed addition to my systems.

Well my reviews always seem to start off the same way, oh my god this will take days to install, its too big and heavy I’m old and will need help, its’ probably going to add more electronic “insanity” to my life and then I plug it in and it’s … WOW!. Installation seems challenging but it’s a sweetheart wireless Plug & Play, Blue tooth. It hooks up to its components wirelessly within a minutes, just plug them in, turn them on and the papa soundbar sends wonderful sounds to its satellite speakers and subwoofer w/o issues. Great for people who just want to install and are not electronics savvy. The Subwoofer is Big and heavy 10” (BUT comes with wheels) 12 x 17 x 12 +/-. The Entire Box come with 38 pieces - Batteries, Mounts, Screws Included, but to be rockin and rollin you need only the soundbars (detachable L/R) on the master control box, Subwoofer and Remote. Everything links itself and it even figures out the TV is ON/OFF and follows suite w/o programming, TRUE about Antennae TV, Tivo and up to 3 HDMI Inputs. Everything is intelligent and self Calibrating and the satellite speakers for the soundbar are magnetically locked and removable for placement, running for hours on rechargeable lithium or with USB-c plugs. The JBL App is NOT needed to enjoy but needs to open your home wifi to pair its Bluetooth to work, and lets you install Chrome cast to play music from the internet… A Rather Nice Feature I use a splitter for my ONE input HDMI source; this soundbar has issues with incoming signals that daisy chain on my splitter, nothing big. The JBL APP works well and gets things down to what you want but does not make up for the COMPLETE lack of any feasible Manual with the product.. Without online access it took me 2 days to use the old nerd way to know how to make cool work even cooler. A Simple thing like turning the soundbar off w/o the TV going into Standby mode or how to make the TIVO Remote Volume work, it took an AI CHATBOT 4 questionings to get the link to a more comprehensible users manual – its “Power button and CH+” till its turns off, Plug and play, multi detachable speaker and super subwoofer soundbar WHY would I need more than assemble, plug and enjoy!, it is for me after all, So I was Overly Pleased.

This sound bar has excellent sound for any situation. I've used it for playing music, watching movies, and videogames. In all situations the vocals are clear and easy to understand. The low end can be adjusted for your preference with ease using the controller or the app that you can download to your smartphone. I use it a lot at night in my apartment and I simply adjust the low end to be quieter and I have not felt like I was bugging the neighbors at all. The detachable rear speakers are a really cool feature as well. These have great battery life and sync perfectly. It is a cool way to get rear speakers in an apartment. Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a premium sound solution in the form of a soundbar.
