I really like the sound quality. I use this speaker at work, it syncs with my iPhone and shuts off if the phone leaves my desk. That usually happens when I leave for lunch or at the end of the day. When I come back I just connect the Bluetooth and push the On button and it continues to play. It works for me!

The jbl portable stereo speaker system worked as advertised plus it outperformed the more expensive BEATS pill stereo system in bass production and price point, my wife loves it also as any happily married man would admit that a happy wife is a happy life....

Bluetooth speakers are a great alternative to listening to music on your portable music devices when you don't want to use earbuds or use a physical connection between the music device and speakers. The JBL Charge 2 is roughly the size of a commuter coffee mug, has a large capacity 6,000 mAh battery, two speakers, and flexible end sound radiators that produce great sound. It comes in several colors. It has a USB port to charge portable devices such as smart phones. A USB charging cord and AC adapter is included (dual voltage). The 6,000 mAh battery is about 4X the capacity of my iPhone 5, so it can charge the phone multiple times, although obviously this reduces the 12 hour speaker operation time. The battery capacity of tablets tend to be much greater than smart phones, so the Charge 2 could refresh but not fully charge most tablets. The Charge 2 can also be used as a speakerphone, and there is also a social mode so multiple users can play their music through the speaker. (I haven't tested these two features.) The device reliably connects to my iOS devices and holds the connection. The sound quality is excellent, with plenty of bass and plenty of volume. The speakers fire forward, but flexible radiators in the ends enhance the bass response. I have a few minor criticisms. Apparently JBL included a carrying case with the original Charge. The Charge 2 does not come with a case, although I have found a number of cases available at internet sites for this speaker. Most of the key controls are backlit, but the volume controls are not, which makes them harder to see in dim lighting. There is a narrow flat surface on one side of the speaker that it rests upon. If the speaker is jarred, it could start rolling. Finally, as noted, the sound radiators on the ends of the speaker enhance the sound but are flexible, and could be damaged if you aren't careful. None of these criticisms have really detracted from my satisfaction with the unit, but are the reason I give it four rather than five stars. In sum, the Charge 2 operates reliably, has good sound quality, and its large battery can be useful for charging other portable devices like smart phones or music players.

I own a Bose Soundlink Mini , a TDK "For the Record" , a Sony X2 and finally this JBL. This has the best quality sound, for music playback, of all of them. More volume , great bass and the best overall clarity. A real steal on sale for $119.

My first portable Bluetooth speaker was a Jabra Solemate, which I still have. It's principally used in the bathroom during the time I spend getting ready for work or whatever. It has been a fine device, but it's sound quality was never anything to get excited about. I had been thinking about replacing it for maybe the last year and while there are a number of products out there with solid reviews, they all tend to be more money than i want to spend on something with such limited use. I had also purchased this model's predecessor for my daughter and was kind of envious as I thought it sounded noticeably better than my Soulmate. But to be fair the Solemate was an older product and I think it looked better. But this latest JBL... wow.... reviews had been solid and now I understand why. The sound quality is, in my opinion, a marked step up from my Solemate. The entire spectrum.. lows to highs... are much improved over my now relegated to the closet Solemate. (I'll find it a good home) This JBL looks good (I went with white, like my Solemate). Maintains a reasonable size (perfect for the bathroom: counter-top or on top of the towel rack). Feels solid and looks well-made. No connectivity issues or problems. But it's really the sound that leaps out. I knew my Solemate was what it was when I bought it: a $90 speaker. I got what I paid for. But at $120 I truly believe the JBL is worth every additional penny. The improvement in sound.. heck.. the sound quality stands on its own. It's easy to compare it to my Solemate, but if this were my first Bluetooth speaker I'd still be very impressed. The side-firing bass drivers really help kick up the impact of bass. The mids and highs are reasonably clear and accurate; more so than I expected. Or put it this way... why I purchased and first listened to the Solemate I was "Ok. This is fine." With the JBL I was "Wow. I didn't know a small Bluetooth speaker could sound this good." I can also report that I believe the overall quality of the mids and highs are improved by placing the speaker on one end. Or on the towel rack. There is something about the reflection of the music off the counter top that seems to muddle the mids and highs. Voices become less distinct is the biggest impact. And I don't find the bass impacted by placing it on one end. My only criticism is that it comes with a wall wart for charging. Just something to lose, unlike the Solemate which just had a straight cord for charging. If your needs are generally small and you understand that this is a portable Bluetooth speaker and not something meant to fill a bedroom with sound or have a party with, then you should be, I hope, very impressed.

"... and then I said 'that's not a coffee mug, that's my JBL bluetooth speaker' (cue audience laugh track)." Aside from being a coffee mug's doppleganger, this speaker is pretty rad. I mean it really screams JBL (as you can see the huge 'JBL' logos plastered on both ends of the speaker.) The sound is really crisp, loud, and pleasing to the ear. The mix of highs are lows are pretty impressive as the sounds can be eminated through an entire living room. What's even better is that there is a USB port on the back serves as a backup power source for charging your electronic devices. In addition, the battery life on this speaker is quite impressive lasting up to 12 hours of continuous music playback. Overall, these speakers are solidly built, has great sound quality, easy to operate, and serve as battery backup that I would find myself bringing to a BBQ outing, picnics, or replacing my old my cassette player.

I originally bought the jbl pulse and was not satisfied with the sound quality. Sure it looked cool and and was loud but it lacked the lows, mids, and highs. The JBL Charge 2 has outstanding sound quality. It is pretty loud and the bass will rock the room. It is perfect with all music and the bass doesn't drown out the mids and highs. This speaker is the perfect size. Excellent product and definitely worth the price.

I purchased this speaker a while ago and decided to write a review. The sound is amazing for such a small thing. Everybody loves it at parties, camp sites, the patio, etc. I've heard other bluetooth speakers and they can't compare at all to the value in this speaker. My only gripe is that you have to be careful with the the actual speaker cones on the sides. They don't have a protective covering. So if some clown decides to push on your speaker with their fingers, it might mess it up the cone. My speaker also didn't come with a protective carrying case, I had to buy one separately. They're inexpensive.

No, not Wal-Mart; I mean the speaker! For what you're paying you can't go wrong with this speaker. It sounds deep and has no trouble filling up a room. The battery life is great, I've only had to charge it a handful of times in the last month. I recommend this to anyone looking for a quality speaker at an affordable price.

This is a very nice great quality speaker! It sounds great, both treble and base. Its a great portable speaker. I even bring it in my car to listen to downloads from my phone. It has a phone setting so you can hold phone conversations thru the bluetooth. It paired easily with my iphone 6 plus. The flat surface under the speaker could be wider to make the speaker more stable so it doesnt roll around easily. If you are not cateful you could easily bump the speaker and cause it to roll. I really like this speakers looks and the sound quality. I got it on sale.

This thing is sturdy!! I bring this with me practically everywhere I go now. I was deciding between this and the UE Boom and I ended up choosing the JBL because I like the sound quality better. I thought the UE Boom was definitely louder, however the JBL Charge provided a more well-rounded sound. The JBL definitely has more bass than the UE. I also love this speaker because you can charge your phone off of it (however it does wear the battery down quite a bit quicker than just playing music).

I didn't get to try this out at the store so I went off of the JBL brand and the price in hopes that I wouldn't be disappointed. I wasn't! This portable speaker gets the job done. I've used it in my car when I didn't have a sound system and it sure did suffice. I bought two of them one for me and one for my husband. Good thing I did because I would not want to have to share. It holds a charge for a long time and the fact that it can charge my phone is a plus! I use it all around my house. This thing is BEAST!

Bought the JBL Charge 2 after several researches and an advice from a Best Buy employee at the store. I was to pay $200.00 for the Bose Soundlink mini and asked for his opinion which came without a doubt: "Save $50 and get the JBL that is way much better. I have a band and we use JBL for testing our sounds". No regrets so far after 2 months of use. Battery lasts at least 5 hours IF working full-time and in high volume. If you use it regurlaly like once or twice a day expect to only charge it once a week or every 10 days!! As for the sound quality, it is great for indoor use (I would say it's even more than what I needed). It is easy to carry but the base is too thin which makes it easy to roll down from any surface as per its rounded shape. For the latter I only give 4 stars. Tip: Use it smartly. Once the sound is generated both in front and on the rear (which is annoying to be honest), try to use something like a shell-format (a dish, any objec or even a wall) facing the rear of it and you will see a great boost on the overall sound.

I was initially torn between the JBL Flip 2 and the Beats Pill. This was to be a B-day gift for my son. He really wanted the Flip2 and I was recoommending the Pill, so I decided to go the Best Buys and try them out for myself. The Pill is crisp and clear, which is great, but it is lacking that bassy richness that I like. The Flip 2 seemed to have some of that richness I was looking for, but there was still something missing. Then I tried out the JBL charge 2 and WOW! If you took the best qualities of the Pill and Flip 2 you get the Charge 2. This little guy has nice rich sound with clarity and great battery life. The bass baffles on the sides help the sound radiate and are just plain cool. Highly reoccommend it. My son loves it and takes it everyday with him to football practice. If you are looking for a small, portable, powerfull speaker, this is it!

I actually went looking for the first generation when I discovered this speaker. I didn't know at the time the Charge2 had come out or was even going to come out. I buddy at work at the first generation and I was thoroughly impressed with them. I have listened to the Beats speaker and they were a huge let down. The Beats have no bass to speak of unless the one I listened to was broken, the sounds were crisp other than that. I have the Beats ear buds and they have great sound quality all around so the speaker was a huge let down. JBL has built a quality speaker with a good sound range that is not over powering in bass or treble. They also have a good mid range. There is not much difference between the Charge and Charge2 other than they added a party feature that allows 3 devices to control it as well as speaker phone support. The job I work at has 9 hr. shifts and I have no problems sustaining battery life and sometimes I plug my phone into it with no serious drain on the battery. If you are looking for a quality speaker with great bass, treble, and mid range performance, JBL's Charge or Charge2 is a fantastic option that you can't go wrong with.
