Not Enough Power
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not enough bass or power in the system. It sounded clear but didn't cut the mustard for what we were looking for

Probably suited for a small office
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this a few days ago for our bedroom. Set up was super easy, but I am disappointed. The sound quality is fine but its just not powerful enough. Probably suited for a small office space.

Didn’t know how to hook it up
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It only has one HDML port, my old one that fried had two. I couldn’t figure out how to hook it up, instructions were no help. Nerds at BB didn’t seem to understand my questions. So it probably works great, just not for me.

Do NOT pay the $249 full price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this open box for like $112 at best buy. List price is $249. Uhmmm no way-not worth it. This was the first sound bar I bought from store-always got on FB marketplace used, but none for sale in my area at this time so I bought this one. I have 5 other sound bar systems in my house. This is the lowest quality one I own. Sound is OK at best. At a little over $100 I'll keep it, but will never buy JBL again. I hope no one pays list price for this thing. There is MUCH better!

do not buy — no bass customization, bad balancing
|Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.do not buy. Okay, let me start out with the basics: this thing is roughly $180 when i bought it on sale. great price. but even for that price i would not buy this thing. it sucks. for 1 you cannot change the bass settings or how it works. it sounds horrible with dialogue, it gets very very quiet, and then when any ounce of music, it is 10x as loud. the default “sound settings” on the remote is very bad. I think the bad dialogue has to do with the dialogue coming out of the subwoofer for some reason, and there is no way to fix this. do not buy.

There are far better options for the money
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar seemed like a good value for the money. After 3 months of dealing with it dropping the bluetooth connection randomly, we hooked it to HDMI ARC hoping it would fix it. It did not. The soundbar will randomly go into power saving mode if you: - pause a movie - pause a youtube video - go use the restroom - were born in the Midwest - have the tv volume set low There's no volume indicator on the sound bar itself, so if you have it hooked up to ARC, you'll have no reference point the next time you turn on the tv. The bluetooth connection simply doesn't work half the time; the soundbar's sleep mode doesn't allow it to wake when a device tries to connect to it. It doesn't wake on ARC. You have to manually connect it each time you use it. If I wasn't past the refund/return window, I would return this thing. Don't get stuck with mediocrity. Go with a different soundbar.

Look for a different soundbar.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed with this soundbar. The sound is ok but thought with the JBL name it would be better. lacks app control, meaning you cannot adjust settings or fine-tune the sound through a dedicated phone app, which can be a significant downside for users who prefer more granular control over their audio experience. Key points about the JBL Cinema SB170 and app control: No dedicated app: Unlike many newer JBL soundbars, the Cinema SB170 does not come with a companion app for adjusting settings on your phone. You can only make basic adjustments like volume and sound mode directly on the soundbar itself. Without app control, features like detailed EQ customization, room correction, or streaming capabilities directly from their phone.

Jbl soundbar
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds better than just TV speakers. But not nearly as good as the Bose speakers old TV was hooked up to.

works well
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did what it was supposed to do although I would have preferred a richer sound than what my new TV came with - wish there was a bass and treble control also

Solid Sound for the Price, but Reliability Is a Co
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the JBL Cinema SB170 about a year ago, and while it initially impressed me with its sleek design and solid sound performance, my experience has been mixed overall.

Sound is ok
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound is pretty good but if you pause the video, the soundbar goes off, so everytime that happens you have to turn the sound bar back on. Very annoying

Posted .Thanks for your feedback on our JBL Cinema SB170. If the soundbar is inactive for more than 10 minutes, it will switch to Standby Mode automatically. The subwoofer also goes to standby, and the connection status indicator turns slow flashing amber. Next time you switch on the soundbar, it returns to the last selected source. However, the soundbar will wake up automatically when the soundbar is connected to your TV through HDMI ARC connection and your TV is switched on. And when it is connected to your TV via optical cable and audio signals are detected from the optical cable. If you need more help, please contact us.

Power saver feature ruines this speaker
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks and sounds nice. There is one major flaw with it though. If you pause you tv/sound for more than 5mins the speaker goes into sleep mode and you have to hit the power button to turn it back on. This means that you need to have the sound bar remote on your table or near you at all times. This may not be an issue for some but I work from home and take calls constantly so I have to pause the TV all the time to take calls. This makes the speaker go to sleep and I have to turn it back on. I bought this because it has an HDMI port and I thought I could get rid of a remote from my table but this power feature means the I have to continue to keep the remote at arms reach at all times. Pretty lame
