I am using this JBL Stage 2 220P powered subwoofer in conjunction with two JBL bookshelf speakers and a JBL MA510 receiver, components designed to work together. Connection is fast with a single cable with male RCA jacks on each end plus, of course, the power cord. The manual for the receiver takes you through a speaker placement and sound calibration process. This can also be done on your phone through a downloadable app, which is actually quite entertaining and informative.
While this subwoof can, of course, be used with any audio system, it is designed to work well with the aforementioned MA510 receiver. The setup process for this receiver takes you through a detailed process involving speaker type, speaker location, distance from listening points, and so forth. The receiver also features an audio system analysis tool called EZ Set EQ that determines the best settings for each speaker and updates the system accordingly. Obviously, accompanying bookshelf speakers are recommended as well and will be included in this setup and analysis process.
Overall, this subwoofer sound great. It adds a great bass note and really helps fill the room with sound. It is highly recommended.

This subwoofer was a surprise, it is far better than I imagined it would be. I think it competes rather well in the world of dedicated manufacturers of subwoofers. There are plenty of branded subs around, Klipsch, et al., that tend to be thin and not exactly great performers. This is an exception.
I have a rather large room, and this sub manages to fill the space with beautiful bottom end. The specs say the frequency response is down to 27 Hz. I ran the low frequency response and subwoofer test. The speaker actually moves a lot at 10 Hz (inaudible). At 20 Hz it actually produces a fair amount of output. So 27 Hz is a conservative number. Crossover on the sub was set to 80 Hz, and output is absolutely silent above that frequency.
It isn't the most gorgeous sub made. The vinyl over MDF screams built to a price point. It does feel of one piece and is solidly made. The design is single driver, with dual ports in the rear. The speaker grill is held with magnets. I love the orange band just behind the grill.
Yes it rumbles and shakes the house with explosions in movies. And yet quietly does it's job with music, adding a beautiful bottom end.

I love my bass, and having moved from team sound bar/sub to team hifi AVR,I love having music running and a louder audio system. I’m overlooking that I didn’t get grille covers on my speakers or sub, had issues with a power cord missing, I had to get creative and use a similar power cord I had. It should be here Tuesday.
Didn’t realize how big this sub is: The 220P is 16.4in x 15.9in x 17.5in (416mm x 405mm x 444mm) and 41.2lbs. (18.7kg)Definitely need to make sure you have the room for it. For 12-inch (300mm) Polycellulose Ribbed Cone Low-Frequency Woofer - the bass bumps pretty heavy. I am glad there is a volume knob on the back because I’m sure my neighbors don’t appreciate the noise.
Being a first time HiFi speaker user, one thing to note is make sure you have your speaker cable of choice - this was new to me, as I am used to AV devices having everything you need in it right out of the box. This was not that case - the sub needs an RCA like connector - snagged one from BBY and all is good.
