Subwoofer sounds good but controls are odd. Bass sounds non-existent until volume knob is turned almost all the way up. Otherwise, no complaints.

I bought this as a set with the 280f towers and center 245c . I returned it because there is barely any base . You need to turn the volume knob at almost 100% to notice anything and the cone doesn’t even move that much which I think is just under engineer. It has so much potential if they can fix that issue it can be a nice sub. I wanted to jeep it because it matched everything else but It would be a waste of money. If you want a good base do not buy this one, you will regret it and return it. Save your trip back to BB.

Good woofer. Was expecting a bit more bass out of a 12" sub.

The JBL Stage 220P 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer is a game-changer for anyone seeking to elevate their home audio experience. As someone who values high-quality sound, I was immediately impressed by this subwoofer's ability to deliver deep, impactful bass that truly fills the room. Engineered at JBL's Acoustic Engineering Center of Excellence, this subwoofer boasts a powerful 500-watt amplifier that doesn’t just produce sound—it creates an immersive audio environment. The moment I connected it to my system, I knew this wasn't just any subwoofer; it’s a piece of audio equipment designed to impress even the most discerning listeners. The 12-inch Polycellulose ribbed cone woofer is where the magic happens. JBL’s attention to detail in designing this component really shines through. The ribbed cone design, inspired by legendary JBL woofers, enhances the rigidity of the woofer, allowing it to produce tight, accurate bass that never feels boomy or overwhelming. In my opinion, this balance is critical for a subwoofer, especially when you're using it in a home theater setup where clarity is just as important as power. The Stage 220P nails this balance, offering room-filling bass that’s both deep and precise. One of the features that stood out to me is the bass-reflex design with dual rear-firing flared ports. These ports reduce the air velocity as it exits the speaker, which eliminates any annoying chuffing sounds that can sometimes detract from the listening experience. I’ve tested subwoofers in the past where this wasn’t the case, and the difference with the Stage 220P is noticeable. The bass is not only powerful but also clean, which makes a world of difference when you’re listening to a range of audio, from action-packed movie scenes to the subtle basslines in your favorite music. Another aspect that I appreciate is the ease of integration into any existing audio system. The rear-mounted volume, crossover, phase, and power controls allow for precise adjustments, ensuring the subwoofer blends seamlessly with your main speakers. The Line-Level LFE input is another feature that simplifies the setup process. By bypassing the subwoofer’s internal crossover when connected to a receiver with its own low-pass crossover, the Stage 220P ensures you get the most accurate bass performance possible. In terms of aesthetics, JBL didn’t skimp on the details. The magnetically attached grilles and the unique trim rings add a touch of elegance that you don’t often find in subwoofers at this price point. The floating front baffle design gives it a modern look that complements any room décor. For someone like me, who appreciates when form meets function, these design choices were the icing on the cake. It’s not just about having great sound; it’s about having a piece of equipment that looks as good as it performs. In conclusion, the JBL Stage 220P 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer is an outstanding addition to any home audio system. Its combination of powerful, precise bass, ease of integration, and thoughtful design features makes it a top choice for anyone serious about sound quality. After testing it myself, I can confidently say that this subwoofer lives up to the JBL name, delivering an audio experience that is both impactful and refined. Whether you're upgrading your home theater or just want to enhance your music listening, the Stage 220P is a solid investment that you won’t regret.

This rating will be, to an extent, misleading. I haven't gotten to check it out yet. The Geek Squad tech showed up without the proper cable to hook it up. He was unprepared plus the sales person made no mention of the cord that would be required, so it just sits there at this point.

The JBL - Stage 220P 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer is a beast for your home theater or music system. This is JBL's latest offering in their new line of speakers and AVR's. I suggest you check out the rest of the line up at Bestbuy. This subwoofer is rated at 300 watts and comes in at 41 pounds and mine came in a beautiful espresso finish that looks quite lovey and classic in my opinion. It also comes with a nice magnetic grille cover that attaches and detaches easily. On the backside is where you will find everything else about this subwoofer. There are two rear firing ports that help with the air movement when this subwoofer is delivering all that heart pounding bass. You will also find rear-mounted volume dial, crossover, phase, and power controls. Almost forgot to mention that they also include adjustable floor spikes if you have carpet. These floor spikes are adjustable from the top which is really convenient and they help with floor vibration and keep the subwoofer in place. I currently have a 5.1.2 home theater setup and the JBL Stage2 220P has replaced my current 10 inch subwoofer and man what a difference. I can hear lower frequencies that I was missing out on the 10 inch subwoofer I was previously using. It also produces hard hitting punchy bass effortlessly. You don't know what you are missing when watching movies & the JBL Stage2 220P fits the bill.

I am using this JBL Stage 2 220P powered subwoofer in conjunction with two JBL bookshelf speakers and a JBL MA510 receiver, components designed to work together. Connection is fast with a single cable with male RCA jacks on each end plus, of course, the power cord. The manual for the receiver takes you through a speaker placement and sound calibration process. This can also be done on your phone through a downloadable app, which is actually quite entertaining and informative. While this subwoof can, of course, be used with any audio system, it is designed to work well with the aforementioned MA510 receiver. The setup process for this receiver takes you through a detailed process involving speaker type, speaker location, distance from listening points, and so forth. The receiver also features an audio system analysis tool called EZ Set EQ that determines the best settings for each speaker and updates the system accordingly. Obviously, accompanying bookshelf speakers are recommended as well and will be included in this setup and analysis process. Overall, this subwoofer sound great. It adds a great bass note and really helps fill the room with sound. It is highly recommended.

This subwoofer was a surprise, it is far better than I imagined it would be. I think it competes rather well in the world of dedicated manufacturers of subwoofers. There are plenty of branded subs around, Klipsch, et al., that tend to be thin and not exactly great performers. This is an exception. I have a rather large room, and this sub manages to fill the space with beautiful bottom end. The specs say the frequency response is down to 27 Hz. I ran the low frequency response and subwoofer test. The speaker actually moves a lot at 10 Hz (inaudible). At 20 Hz it actually produces a fair amount of output. So 27 Hz is a conservative number. Crossover on the sub was set to 80 Hz, and output is absolutely silent above that frequency. It isn't the most gorgeous sub made. The vinyl over MDF screams built to a price point. It does feel of one piece and is solidly made. The design is single driver, with dual ports in the rear. The speaker grill is held with magnets. I love the orange band just behind the grill. Yes it rumbles and shakes the house with explosions in movies. And yet quietly does it's job with music, adding a beautiful bottom end.

I love my bass, and having moved from team sound bar/sub to team hifi AVR,I love having music running and a louder audio system. I’m overlooking that I didn’t get grille covers on my speakers or sub, had issues with a power cord missing, I had to get creative and use a similar power cord I had. It should be here Tuesday. Didn’t realize how big this sub is: The 220P is 16.4in x 15.9in x 17.5in (416mm x 405mm x 444mm) and 41.2lbs. (18.7kg)Definitely need to make sure you have the room for it. For 12-inch (300mm) Polycellulose Ribbed Cone Low-Frequency Woofer - the bass bumps pretty heavy. I am glad there is a volume knob on the back because I’m sure my neighbors don’t appreciate the noise. Being a first time HiFi speaker user, one thing to note is make sure you have your speaker cable of choice - this was new to me, as I am used to AV devices having everything you need in it right out of the box. This was not that case - the sub needs an RCA like connector - snagged one from BBY and all is good.
