It's not going to have the same kind of output as a subwoofer. If you have listened to a lot of portable speakers, you know some do better than others at hitting the lower frequencies. This is definitely one of the better ones. In addition to being able to reproduce good bass, the rest of music and TV shows sounds great and very clear. You'd swear LeBron James was in my house giving his post-game interview instead of Oakland. I didn't have any issues with battery life or Bluetooth. It's kind of on the big side but it's worth the trade off for the lower frequency response. Apparently the new version has tighter bass but not as pronounced. If you just want the boom, get the first generation over the second. You'll be very happy with it. Especially if it is on sale.

I absolutely love this speaker, it gives rich lows for bass. Sometimes I have to look and ask myself if all this sound is coming from this speaker. It’s also splash proof and gives you hours of play. Love it!

Great highs and lows, deep bass and long battery life. Great for on the go I take to the gym, work, etc. Can't find a negative thing to say about the Extreme JBL has hit the nail on the head with this product!!

I like this speaker a lot. It's loud with a lot of bass. Sounds great. The only con I see is that it isn't very rugged. The subs are exposed at both ends. The outside material is like a fabric also. It's a great speaker for in the house or by the pool. I just wouldn't suggest it for any rugged type activities. Overall it is a great speaker though. 4 out of 5!

I absolutely love the JBL products, they're simple to use and provide great sound. I got mine on black Friday at an awesome price even when the store was sold out. The sales rep was nice enough to offer to order it for me without me asking. my favorite feature is how you can link multiple speakers together to create an even bigger sound. I highly recommend this product and the water proof capability is definitely a top quality.

It has amazing bass, but at times it was not needed & seemed to be a bit excessive. If only there were a button to turn on/off to control that. I wish there was an easier way to carry the speaker without having to attach a shoulder strap (that is provided). My MAJOR complaint is with the Bluetooth connection. Within a month of using it regularly, it would not pair as easily as it first did. So I kept having to tell my devices to “forget it” and it would pair after doing so just fine. It was also annoying when the speaker would stop playing a song everytime I received a notification. Also I started having problems with the sound, it would not let me up the volume and at times it would sound as if someone had a pillow over the speaker (just so you can picture the sound) It was very bizarre, but i could never get it back to its original sound. I exchanged the first one as defective for the exact speaker and within the first week it started showing the same similar issues. I wished this speaker worked like it should have. I returned the second speaker.

This speaker is worth every penny. It has amazing battery life, and the fact that it is so portable is a plus. Honestly, the sound is great, I can hear it all over the house from the living room.

I was lucky a great salesperson was able to take me right to a display and then showed me different options. He recommends two of them. This one and one just a bit smaller. We choose this one great sound and bass from a small package and it can charge our phones etc as a added bonus

The JBL Xtreme is an outstanding Bluetooth speaker. You will not believe the bass sound coming off this speaker, the sound is awesome. I own just about all JBL wireless speakers (Clip2, Flip3, Charge3 and now the Xtreme). The sound quality improves in the order I listed, the JBL Xtreme being the best of all. I would recommend any of the models listed especially the Xtreme.

This is an awesome speaker. I had previously purchased a Braven Bluetooth speaker (same price range) and the JBL was superior in sound at high volume. I took this speaker to Cancun and it played for over 10 hours at the beach without any issues. It will fill a 20x30ft room with great sound. Many people ask if it's a special order speaker because of its performance. It's simple to sync to any Bluetooth device and the charging use ports are a major plus. Love the portability!! Strapped it on and off to the beach, park, back yard, etc. you will not be disappointed. I spent hours listening to different speakers. I even bought other brand to try out. Eventually I returned them and kept this one.

I have bought and returned at least 6 or 7 Bluetooth speakers over the last year trying to find the best one that I can use at work all day. I returned all of them because I was paying a lot of money for a small speaker with horrible distorted sound and odd sounding bass. Other speakers like the UE megaboom, UE boom 2, Sony SoundLink mini 2, altec Lansing life jacket, beats pill, beats pill xl I had to constantly be adjusting equalizer settings because the sounds were always comming out different depending on what your listening to. But finally after much frustration and time and money spent I found the one. The extreme sounds great, has good bass without sounding distorted, and gets loud too. Take it from someone who has tried many other speakers, and get this one. 5 stars all day

i decided to purchase this after doing lots of research, and watching many youtube reviews. this speakerr gets loud, it has crisp highs and mids with plenty of low end. distortion is a non issue at full power.

We needed a speaker that would be good in a greenhouse that has lots of moisture and background noise. This has been an excellent choice. Good sound quality and it holds up extremely well to the elements. Love that we can link it to our other jbl connects and have sound throughout the yard.
