Was it really worth the money? Answer is yes it was. I ordered this speaker along with the fugoo xl and I put both of them to the test and was blow away with the performance of the JBL extream. The fugoo xl was not was I was expecting considering the size. It's big for nothing. JBL extream is were its at. Has a great battery life and charges my cell phone when its died and I use my jump drive to stream my music ever saved on there. If you are comparing the two speakers do your self a favor and just go with the JBL extream. If not get both of them and do the test for your self and I bet you will be returning the fugoo xl the same day.

This is a great bluetooth speaker! I have used it on numerous occasions; the fact that it can be connected to multiple phones and another similar bluetooth speaker (Left and Right outputs) is great. There is also a considerable amount of bass from this small speaker!

This speaker has great clarity, bass and volume for a portable speaker. We have used it inside and out and really want a second one as both of us want it wherever we are in the house, and we are not always together. Battery lasts a long time which is great too.

Great sound for the size of it & when turned all the way up!! I love it & most of all it's portable. Everyone was amazed by how powerful the bass was on such a small speaker.

I ultimately purchased a UE Megaboom over this speaker because of the JBL Xtreme's sound profile. The JBL Xtreme is a nice speaker, but it actually has way too much bass for my taste. The battery lasts the time advertised and some depending on how loud you crank it. By the way, this speaker is loud and distortion free at high volumes. One thing i should mention about volume is that when this speaker is plugged in, it is louder and clearer than when it is on battery power. The volume is very good, I had this speaker competing with an ion block rocker at the creek me and my buddies hang out by and it was winning. This speaker is slightly heavy, but the carry strap makes it manageable. Charging this speaker is facilitated by a proprietary plug, as an owner of a Harman Kardon Onyx, it is the exact same plug and i didnt like that. The UE Megaboom i now have charges via a micro USB connection which makes it a better speaker for outdoor adventures since i can charge it from my power bank. What ultimately sold me on the Megaboom was the fact that it was waterproof while the JBL was only water resistant. I had to hover by the JBL while i was at the creek out of fear that it would fall in. With my Megaboom, i no longer have to worry.

I have listened and owned many Bluetooth speakers over the past several years. The JBL extreme does not dissapoint! Looks and sounds great for a portable Bluetooth speaker. Good well balanced sound with solid bass output. Very pleased. Highly recommended!

Must buy if you love portable Bluetooth speakers of great quality. Battery life lasts me 10+ hours easy at about 75% which is loud enough.

Great sound! It is in the upper price range but at the end of the day it is worth the money. I took it on a camping trip, we used it a couple of hours here and there and it was still playing on the 3rd day.

This was my 4th JBL bluetooth speaker purchase...I have an original charge, a flip2, and a charge2+, I am obviously a big fan of the JBL product...I bought the extreme to be my permanent living room speaker and free up my charge 2+ for my basement and travel...my living room is pretty big and when people are hanging out and talking the charge 2+ got washed out. I wanted a speaker that I would have to turn down rather than keep trying to turn up with no more available volume...the JBL Extreme delivered this, the bass cranks, and the highs match and don't get washed out, nor do the highs wash out the bass, so the sound output is a well balanced mix. Again I wanted a speaker that I would have to turn down because it was just to loud, and that's what I got, when this speaker is going full tilt people will say "that's to loud"...perfect!...my next purchase will be a flip 3 that I can pair to the extreme and place them corner to corner from each other..

I used to build a lot of radio coolers for myself and others. I sold my last radio cooler and now use this for all my portable sound needs. This thing is amazing, I used it at my son's football practice (hung it on the fence using the strap) and you could hear it clearly across the field with the coaches and kids talking/playing. I would highly recommend one of these. I like it so much, I am considering a second one and linking them together so I can have music playing in two locations at once (inside and on the patio when people are over at home). YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

Perfect speakers for the beach or a BBQ. sound quality is great and amazing bass. Love the fact that it is waterproof and has an amazing battery life !

I was actually prepared to buy a UE Megaboom when I happened across the jbl extreme. Even at the store, the display model seemed to give a richer, fuller sound. Once I tried it at home I was even more impressed. This thing is loud. regardless of where I placed it, the sound fills my whole house (1300 sqft). The blue tooth is pretty decent too. It maintains a strong connection around a corner or two and has a reasonable distance before cutting out. The battery life is great too. I've had it blasting for hours at a time and it never went dead. Overall a great buy.

Compared this next to the insignia waterproof Bluetooth speaker. The xtreme sounds way better. They both get about the same loudness. They both have good bass. But the insignia sounds kind of muffled. The xtreme sounds clean & clear.

I got it on Black Friday 1/2 off... This speaker is worth every penny...I take it to work with me....I flip houses....I fire up the speaker drink my coffee... And go to work.... Battery lasts all day... This speaker is amazing BUY IT

I've tried a bunch of these portable speakers, and these are by far the best. The base is really powerful, the mids and highs are excellent. For a portable Bluetooth speaker of this size, this baby rocks! Great sound and seamless connectivity via smartphone. Love that it’s splash proof so don’t hesitate to take it outside. More than enough volume & range. Very nice.
