Better than expected!

Packs a punch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a blue tooth speaker for my house and to take outside to my patio. I didn’t want to spend $300 on a bose. A co-worker suggested this brand and I read through the countless reviews and chose this one. The sound is so clear, crisp and powerful but most importantly the bass cranks. I bought this on cyber Monday and know I got a great deal in quality and price. This speaker is awesome to be played loud at parties or as background music during dinner. I’m extremely satisfied with it. I may even buy another for upstairs. Love it!!

HOLY BASS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so this is going to be a long review. (Get yah popcorn!) So the JBL Xtreme is a phenomenal speaker with a few flaws. To start off the speaker is massive hence the name "Xtreme" but you get what you are buying. So on top of the speaker being massive it does come with a very sturdy arm strap (over shoulder) like a purse or duffle bag. Another great thing about this speaker is for the size it is not heavy at all! It's easy to carry due to the great strap included, and the light weight factor to the speaker. The speaker comes with a massive punch. I also own a Marshal Stanmore and this speaker can defiantly compare to the quality of the Stanmore. This speaker comes with great Bluetooth connectivity so you don't have to worry about disconnecting when riding your bike or running. Just a warning. Be warned that if you do take this in public places that it may possibly bother people around you because of the loudness of the speaker. Listening to this makes me want to jam out like I'm at a concert. It's great indoors and out! My parents always tell me to turn it down. (I don't) I do take this to school and I don't have a problem putting this in the bottom of my backpack under all my books and note books and it's great to blast and bother school teachers and staff. I wouldn't recommend taking this to school to be honest. So to top this review off I'd like to say that this speaker is well worth your money and JBL/Harmon Kardon ever comes out with a bigger one I'll be sure to buy it because this speaker is amazing!

Good battery life and sound quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The battery life is excellent. The sound quality at low and medium volume levels is great. It lacks some bass power at high volume and the mid range and highs overtake the scene. Also, if you have used the JBL Charge or JBL Charge3, your expectations in regard of output power will be high and might be a little disappointed. It is definitely a more powerful system than the charge and charge3, but the difference in power is not proportional to the difference in size. I think the biggest improvement obtained from the larger size is the extended battery life. Overall, it still is a very good buy for the current prices.

Xtreme, Xpensive, Xpansive, Xpected More
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At $300 this thing packs a punch both soundwise and hardware-wise. I mean look at it, it looks like a missile. It's heavy too but the attachable strap is a very nice touch and makes it more portable. It definitely doesn't feel cheap to the touch. The sound is where it's a bit uneven. Now please know, I understand music over Bluetooth has its limitations, it just does. That being said the bass is amazing for being a Bluetooth speaker. At times the bass tends to overwhelm the mids and highs. Download an app with a good equalizer if that really bothers you. Now the 2 big issues. As big as this thing is you would think it would be ridiculously loud. Sadly it's not. (I noticed it plays louder when plugged in to power vs when running on battery) My Big Jambox was louder and sounded better. My other beef with this speaker is it eats the first 2 to 3 seconds of the beginning of each song. One thing that gives me hope is the software can be upgraded on this thing. So I'm hoping future software upgrades will make this thing louder (it just has to get louder, it's too big not too) and eliminate the issue with the beginning of each song.

Amazing Sound with Fantastic Battery Life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this JBL Xtreme to replace my old Beats Pill XL. The Pill XL was an awesome speaker, unfortunately, it had a battery issue and I returned it to Apple. After I returned the Pill XL to Apple, I struggled with finding a speaker that had similar sound quality, battery life and some of the other little features I liked about my Pill XL. So when I was walking through Best Buy I stumbled upon this little gem and purchased the blue one. Here are the things I liked (in no particular order) 1. First off, it plays extremely loud and doesn't seem to have any issues, even at higher volumes. The bass is extraordinarily loud AND clear. It's not boomy for the sake of it. The sound quality is very balanced and works great both indoors and outdoors. When listening this, everyone will enjoy it and have a great time. 2. I love that it has indicator lights to show how much battery is remaining, which by the way is a long time. I have used it for 7-8 hours and it is still showing 5 full battery lights. Not bad for something that is supposed to last only 15 hours. 3. I like that it has a USB output to charge phones, tablets, etc. while using the speaker. 4. I like that this is splash resistant, so when I am at the pool or outdoors, I don't have to worry about rain. Keep in mind, it's splash resistant not waterproof. So don't try dunking this in the water. 5. The included carrying strap makes this easy to carry around. It's actually a little more convenient than the handle the Pill XL had as I can sling this on my shoulder and use my hands to carry other items. And like the Pill XL, this is not light. But still easily toted around. 6. I like that it has volume and play/pause controls on the top. I wished they could have added track control, but not really that big of a deal breaker for me. 7. The companion smartphone app is pretty decent. JBL recently updated it to allow you to designate how the play/pause button on the speaker works. You can use it to control play/pause of the music or you can change it to activate your phone's voice assistant (Siri/Google). I also like you can perform firmware updates through the app, thus reducing the need to connect the speaker directly to a computer through micro-USB. 8. Even though it is cylindrical, it has nice little rubberized feet at the bottom to keep it upright and from rolling of a table. 9. You can connect up to 3 devices at one time and at any time, you can play music through one of those 3 seamlessly. Now for the things I wish that were improved: 1. While I understand that the zipper used to hide the power ports is to keep the water out, it doesn't open enough to allow easy enough access to the charging port or USB port. You have to kind of push the zipper sides aside to get to the ports. After a while you get used to it, but I feel like there could have been a better design. 2. I wish that this could have been charged using Micro-USB instead of proprietary charger. You get a separate charger with a decent sized brick. I get that they probably did this to keep the weight down as it is already heavy, but it's another thing you have to carry with you and it's not small. 3. I wished that JBL put some sort of metal protective grill over the two side speaker cones. It definitely looks cool to see them in action, but I worry about something coming into contact with them, like an errant foot or rock if you leave it on the ground. I would definitely sacrifice that little bit of extra weight for security for the speaker drivers. Overall, I am extremely happy with this speaker. It sounds fantastic, has great battery life, is water resistant and is portable. Sure there are some items I don't like about it, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

Great Bluetooth Speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research online before purchasing this speaker. I wanted a high quality speaker with good sound quality, including heavy bass and good volume, and several other features. After reading all the reviews and then listening to several models at Best Buy, I settled on this one. I love it! I use it primarily for tailgating at football games and camping. It is more than loud enough, with great sound and bass. I also like the design and on unit controls. Good battery life and nice to be able to charge phones off it and connect other devices through the aux port. It was very easy to connect to also! If you are looking for a good quality speaker on the higher cost end of the Bluetooth speaker group, I highly recommend this one!

Good speaker for a house party
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had a Christmas party with 25-30 guests. I was able to play my iPod & other people could sync there phones up to the speaker via Bluetooth. The sound & quality is very good, it's not all crackley when I turn up the volume. It was like having a stereo system, but the speaker is small :)

Best Portable Speaker, Great Sound!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best portable Bluetooth speaker I've owned. It is a bit heavy but I was not looking for a light weight speaker with weak sound, The weigh of this speaker is justified by the great sound it can reach and the amount of bass it delivers. The battery life is great as well, I've used this speaker for longer than 15 hours, with low, medium and max volume. I was impressed when I discovered that the sound does not get weaker as the battery charge decreases. In my opinion, this speaker sounds better than any Bose, Logitech, Infinity, Sony, etc. I didn't mentioned Beats Pill because those speakers are not at the same level, the sound on those speakers is horrible, exept the old Beats BeatBox, that one had a pretty good sound and bass, but this JBL Xtreme is better because of the sound, battery, and many other features like the ability to pair another JBL speaker, Charge multiple devices, and other auxiliary inputs, etc, etc. I will definitely recommend this to a friend. :D

Nice
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used the beats xl from a friend and that was a beast all around. And after a suspicious recall, I wanted to find a speaker ás portable and as good of quality. Along came the came the xtreme. Not only does it sound better, but it was cheaper and splash proof. It's hard to hear the quality until you hear it yourself. So really you get what you pay for.

Works Great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.JBL Kicks! Really has good sound and the Bluetooth works great. Battery lasts a long time jamming when not on charger. Good bass for such a little speaker. Can't wait to link 2 or maybe 4 of them up one day. This item gets 2 thumbs up.

Great Sound, But Too Expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this last night and played around with it for about 2hrs once I got home. Sound quality is great, but I wish there was more bass sound. I worry about the bass reflex response on this unit and how it will hold up over time. It's neat to see it from a side view, but if anything comes in contact with this unit while at maximum volume, you can kiss your bass goodbye! The Harman Kardon Onyx and Onyx Studio 2 has a greater bass response/woofer and is also $100 cheaper. The only reason I returned the Onyx unit and opted for the JBL Xtreme was for the portability and it's Splash proof design. The Onyx, you can not fold the legs which makes it cumbersome to travel with, and it would not make a good poolside/beach speaker since it lacks a splash proof design. Other than these 2 reasons, I would have kept the Onyx. The JBL Xtreme also has about 15hrs of playback time, and can charge 2 devices simultaneously. I guess you have to weigh out your options and what you are looking for. If you are going to leave this speaker out in your room/house and not travel with it, go for the Onyx or Onyx Studio 2. If you are going for portability and still want great sound with the option to recharge your device, go with the JBL Xtreme. For those of you who don't know, Harman Kardon owns JBL, so no matter which product you buy, you will definitely be satisfied.
