I will search for a high quality item(s) to have these 3 features on it. I don't care about size, so this being compact might be nice for some while people like me just want better quality. It works fine for now, though.

Perfect for my needs

It is replacing an older tower unit (still running great) but I wasn't able to move that unit where I wanted since it was too wide. This is perfect for a 12" deep shelf. It is compact but the sound is very good quality. I'm currently using the speakers that came with it, but might later adapt to a larger floor speaker on the other side of the room. I'm very, very happy with it. I just wish it would allow me to load more than just one CD at a time (old one had a 6-disc changer). But all in all, I'm very happy with this, and the price was great.

Good basic stereo with various options.
