    The Earbuds to Beat

The Epic Air Elite True Wireless Sport Earbuds are the third set of wireless earbuds I've had and I think they will be hard to beat. Having two sets of wired JLab earbuds, I expected the sound to be on point and the wireless sports didn't disappoint. Right out of the case, pairing was flawless. The buds paired to each other then paired to my phone. There are 8 different sets of ear tips so everyone can get the perfect fit. Unlike previous earbuds, the tips are located on posts in a section at the bottom of the case rather than just tossed in a little zipper bag. The fit is the best ive had. There is a clip that goes around your ear to help hold the buds in. At no point was I concerned about the buds falling out of my ears. These clips also have the Bluetooth antennas in them which helps keep them from dropping out. This and Class 1 Bluetooth. Whichever it is, I've to say it worked flawlessly. At no point so far has the sound cut out in either ear, something that happens regularly in my other wireless buds. I was able to get it to cut out for a second by cupping my hand over my ear however. But how do they sound? Amazing! There are three equalizer settings, balanced, bass boost and my favorite, JLab Signature which has tons of bass mixed with just a hint of treble. Unlike other earbuds, this setting is handled right on the buds rather than requiring an app. Simply touch the buds together for 3 seconds and they cycle through each of the 3 settings. Speaking of touching the buds, the controls are touch sensors in each bud. Each side controls something different based on taps and holds. Probably my biggest disappointment with these buds is a new feature called "Be Aware Audio" which is supposed to use the built-in microphones to allow outside sounds through so you can hear your surroundings. This would be great for runners, bikers and even if you wear them in an office setting so you can hear conversations with your co-workers. If you have the volume low enough, you can hear a staticky sound and if you rub your finger around the bud, you can hear it. I really like this concept and have seen it on other headphones but was disappointed in it on these buds. Also, it would be nice to have the directions give a bit more info on what to expect in this mode. On phone calls, the other person was able to hear me clearly and I could hear them perfectly, in both ears rather than just one side. Battery life, the Epic Air Elites are rated at 6 hours per charge with the case providing an additional 5 charges. The buds charge every time you put them back in the case, which is also how they turn on and off, just take them out and they pair and turn on, put them back, they turn off and charge. The case also has a USB plug you can use to charge anything else, like your phone or music player. I'ven't been able to wear the buds long enough to see if they meet the six hour rated time but I'ven't had to charge the case yet since I got them. The battery case is solid but it is a bit large to carry in your pocket. It is better suited to a gym bag or back pack. Overall, these are the wireless earbuds to beat. The sound is great and adjustable to your taste, the fit is amazing, the battery life is best in class and the connectivity hasn't dropped out yet.

My overall impression before getting into detail is that these are great for anyone looking for a nice sounding, secure, truly wireless pair of headphones for doing physical activity. Aside from some minor annoyances detailed below they fit the bill perfectly. The sound quality of these headphones are really great. They have 3 modes to select from and all sound pretty good depending on what you are listening to. They also have an alert mode which lets sound through purposefully for things like running outside, that's pretty neat. During regular use no sound comes through for the most part. The fit is one of my favorite things about these headphones. I believe there are 6 rubber attachments and one foam pair which I find the most comfortable. Its a really small market for truly wireless headphones WITH an ear hook. Air pods and similar style earbuds cannot stay in my ears when I am working out, running, jumping, etc. And the other style that has a wire connecting the earbuds are really uncomfortable and snag the buds out when turning my head. Point is, these give you the most versatility/security. This product would be a 5* review if I stopped right now but I have to mention two important annoyances. The more minor one is that these are touch controls that utilize tapping/long pressing. While this is modern/cool it is not very practical. Sometimes it doesn't register a tap and you don't really have a way of knowing until your desired action doesn't happen or an action you did not want happens. For example, pausing a track requires a double tap, and sometimes I will try and nothing happens. After numerous attempts it registers a triple tap and that turns on the environmentally aware mode (letting in ambient noise for safety). I am still getting used to the touch controls and im sure I will be proficient in time but I have been using them for a month now, about 4-5 hours per week exercising and they still don't register the correct input sometimes. The second, main annoyance of this product is the low battery indicator. Using your smartphone you could check the percentage of the earbuds. When first powered on they will tell you either "Full Battery, Medium, or Low" with low starting at 25%. These earbuds have a 5hr rated use time which means when low battery hits they should last AT LEAST an hour and a half. I timed this multiple times and when they alert you of low battery you have less than 10 min until theyre dead. This is extremely frustrating if youre just beginning your workout session. The voice also tells you low battery repeatedly every 1-2mins until they die. This doesn't really help since they die so quick. Just today I did my workout which lasted about one hour. I was told they had medium battery upon powering on. Halfway through my workout it started chiming low batter and they died 8min after that. I actually upgraded to this pair of earbuds from a generic brand off amazon specifically because those would do the exact same thing! I thought that for over $125 these earbuds would have better control of that aspect. My only solution to this problem is to constantly keep them topped off which is quite easy with the charging/carrying case. Still, this is an unforgivable inconvenience that I cannot overlook. Why make the low battery indicator when they are about to die in less than 10min and not earlier? Im sure they could've been programmed to truly tell you low battery at about 30% that way you could definitely finish a workout. Again, the quality and fit of these headphones are on point. If you get used to the controls and keep them charged all the time then you will likely enjoy them. If you are like me and let your electronics discharge fully (or close to it) before charging you will be aggravated.

I have had these buds for about two weeks and I use them everyday for about 4+ hours each day. I am in software and listen to the radio and music for the better part of the day. Pairing with my PC or phone was easy and I like the touch controls. Once you are used to the you know exactly how to use them and its really intuitive. The package comes with 7 pairs of ear tips that make it easy to find something that fits your ear. One set is even memory foam so you can get a really nice seal in the ear to block out the world. The sound quality is decent for true wireless buds. These are the only ear bud style phones I have used that fit comfortably in my ear and stay in. There is a lot to like here but there is more not to like. The first con is the "Be Aware" mode. The internal microphone that is used to amplify the sound outside creates a lot of white noise that dampens the listening experience quite a bit. Its a lot more useful to remove one earbud from the ear if you want to hear rather than activating the microphone. The next con is the connection. I have had to reconnect this device five times to my PC because it does not connect when I pull the buds out of the charger in the morning. Along with that, the buds do not stay joined. I have had instances almost everyday where one of the buds, if not both drop out for a second then repair and join. I am not sure if this is a connection issue with my source or the buds themselves but its really annoying.

Nice fitting comfortable ear hook buds. I bought to try while riding a motorcycle with a half helmet. Was able to hear nicely, and still hear traffic around me. They also have a setting to allow you to let more ambient noise or sounds in, this however was not an option for riding. They seem to amplify the sound of the bike so much, that I couldn't hear any music. This was designed to be used when working out with others, so you can talk while listening. For that, it probably works as intended.

Many bluetooth headphones will emit a soft white noise hum. This pair emits a blaring white noise. Switch on the gimmick meant to help you be aware of your surroundings for an extremely overbearing white noise sound coming through the awful microphones on here. Sound quality matches that of a $20 pair of buds. The custom eartips and variety of styles is very nice and added comfort, but the sound of these is horrible for a $150 set.

These are well worth the money, considering the quality of sound and the durability. The ability to turn outside noises off and on is very beneficial, so you aren't constantly taking them out. They're easy to use and the battery last quite a while, both for the actual earphone and the charging case.
