The JLab– Epic Lux Lab edition headphones have been epic so far. I have been using these for a couple of days now and am happy with how they have performed so far. At this price range, you will be getting plenty of value for your money. The many features like adaptive noise cancelling, multipoint connections, wireless charging, and great audio are some of the key highlights you will receive with this headset. This is my review of the JLAB – Epic Lux Lab Edition Headphones.
*TLDR at the Bottom
==========
IN THE BOX/SET-UP:
In the box, you get a detailed quick start guide, a hard-shell headphones case, the JLab – Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones, a USB-C to USB-C cable, an AUX to USB-C cable, and a charging pad for wireless charging.
Setup is straightforward. Simply turn on your headphones and start the pairing process, then proceed to connect your device to the headphones. If you plan to pair these headphones with your phone, the JLAB app is optional, but I highly recommend it. The app allows you to fully customize your sound, controls, and other important items.
==========
DESIGN/COMFORT:
The JLab Epic Lux Lab has a unique ear cup design. They aren’t the typical “round” design that most headphone manufacturers use. I personally like it and found that this design conforms to my ears better. The headband strap is soft and comfortable. There are no touch controls on the left side of the headphones since this is the charging side. All the touch controls are on the right side. The logo is a button that allows one to switch sound modes, and the tap controls are all performed above the button. The headphones are easily adjustable using the metal slider. This slider is very smooth and feels highly durable.
In terms of comfort, these headphones are incredibly comfortable. I have worn these headphones for 3+ hours in one sitting and have not felt an ounce of discomfort. But due to the faux leather ear cushion material, I found that my ears and head got sweaty. I sometimes wear glasses, and most glasses owners know that some over-the-ear headphones can cause discomfort after a while. For those who wear glasses, there is no need to worry. These headphones can be worn with glasses and still be comfortable after a couple of hours of wear.
==========
SOUND QUALITY:
In terms of sound, the JLab Epic Lux Lab sounds great outside the box. The highs are noticeably much louder than the lows, but besides that, the sound quality is fine. JLab app offers adjustable EQ settings, and I decided to play with that to fine-tune the headphones to my liking. I am glad that adjustable EQ settings were an option because I found my perfect sound. I then decided to listen to some wired lossless audio, and I was blown away by the immersive audio. With some fine-tuning, these headphones can sound like a couple of hundred bucks. I recommend playing with the EQ settings until you find your perfect sound, but the preset EQ options that JLab created work fine, too, if you prefer that.
==========
FEATURES/OTHER NOTES:
Below are some key features and notes about the JLab Epic Lux Lab:
- The app offers both Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Always-On Noise Cancelling; both work fine but aren’t groundbreaking (they do a good job at blocking white noise like a PC’s fan)
- Be-Aware mode works great, but there isn’t anything new added
- Tap controls are incredibly responsive; there is minimal latency between the tap and the action
- Tap controls do not fully work on Windows PCs; the only parts that work are the play/pause and volume gestures
- The JLab app is simple to use and easy to navigate, no account required
- The headphones support multipoint connections (up to two) but not dual audio (audio from both sources)
- Spatial audio is neat, but it's not mind-blowing; it can be enabled in the app
- Removing the headphones automatically pauses the audio, which is a great feature
- The included charging puck can charge your headphones as well as your phone
- The headphones can be charged wired or wirelessly
- These have an amazing battery life. I have yet to charge these headphones since I’ve received them, JLab claims up to 90+ hours of playtime
- A minor downside or nuisance is with multipoint on, when you go to work on your second device, the audio automatically stops on the main device. I believe it’s a software bug because there is typically nothing playing on my second device when I do this
==========
CONCLUSION/TLDR:
Overall, this is a great pair of headphones in this price range. The many features like ANC, wireless charging, fluid audio tap controls, and great sound are some of the key items you will get with these headphones. If you aren’t looking to break the bank but still want great sound and headphones packed with premium features, go ahead and give this one a shot!

Great Headphones That Punch Above Their Weight

Overall:
The JBLAB Epic Lab Edition Lux headphones deliver premium sound and good noise cancellation in a sturdy, well-priced package. They’re ideal for commuters, office workers, and anyone who values high-fidelity audio. With a solid build and comfortable over the ear fit, these are sure to attract a lot of people that want high quality sound, with support for LDAC without breaking the bank.
Sound Quality:
These headphones deliver rich, full sounding audio with strong bass and crisp highs. The sound signature is energetic and works well across genres. It’s definitely a bit boosted on the high and low end, especially when using the JLAB equalizer setting, but I think most will find its sound quite pleasing. The companion JLAB app includes a customizable EQ and button customization, giving users control over their sound profile.
Active Noise Cancellation:
Noise cancellation is good, if not bordering on great, at reducing ambient sounds like traffic and office noise. Adaptive ANC adjusts to your environment quite well, but you can always turn on noise cancellation and use it at a predetermined level as well. Transparency mode is also an option and available at a press of a side button on the ear cup, for when you need to hear something in your environment.
Other Headphone Features:
Spatial audio and head-tracking support adds depth to movies and other immersive content. I used this a bit, but I wouldn’t recommend it while listening to music, as it made it sound distant and kind of flat.
There are few options for controlling the headset. A multi-function single button that has to be pressed multiple times to initiate functions like play/pause/skip, a side button on the right ear cup that will toggle between noise cancellation modes and touch controls. You can turn them off, which I tend to do since I touch them accidentally quite often. I’m not a fan of touch controls on headphones or earbuds, and I don’t think I’m alone in this.
Connectivity:
Bluetooth 5.3 ensures stable connections and low latency. Supported codecs include SBC, AAC, and LDAC. Multipoint pairing allows seamless switching between devices. These should sound great on just about any device, but LDAC support is only available on Android devices.
Comfort:
Lightweight design helps comfort during extended wear and these fit my big head very well, but are adjustable for smaller heads as well. The ear cups are a very soft, vegan leather type material that seems to breathe well and is very soft on the skin.
Battery Life:
Battery life reaches up to 90 hours with ANC turned off and 60 hours with ANC on. This is impressive and with the wireless magnetic charging base, recharging the headset is easier than ever. Of course, you’ll have the option to plug it in with the included USB-C cable as well, but wireless charging is a nice touch for a headset at this price point.
Design:
The Lux may be JLAB’s flagship model, but it’s still mostly made of plastic, with a bit of metal sprinkled here and there. While it doesn’t scream luxury, it also doesn’t look cheap. These will blend in nicely and won’t attract much attention, which might be a good thing in urban areas, subways, etc. where headphones tend to get stolen at times.
Pros:
Excellent sound quality
Very good ANC and transparency mode
Customizable EQ via the JLAB app
Long battery life
Multipoint pairing
Spatial audio and head tracking support
Wireless charging with included magnetic base
Strong value for the price
Cons:
ANC performance is solid but not class-leading
Build quality is only okay, not great
No USB lossless audio support

I recently tested the new JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition ANC Over-Ear Headphones, and I must say, this is a major leap for JLab as it steps confidently into the premium audio space. Having used a few JLab products in the past, mostly in the budget range, I was curious to see how this new model stacks up against the premium brands. The Epic Lux Lab Edition brings an impressive feature set, strong battery performance, and a good sound profile at a price point that challenges mid-range and even some premium models.
Accessories and Key features:
· Includes a USB-C to 3.5 mm “auxiliary USB” cable; USB-C end to headphones, 3.5 mm to audio source
· Bluetooth 5.4, dual connectivity - auto-prioritizes phone calls and resumes laptop audio afterward
· Codecs -Supports SBC, AAC, LDAC
· Hard travel case (uncommon at mid-tier price)
· USB-C to 3.5 mm cable.
· USB-C charging cable
· Wireless charging dock included (no power adapter in the box)
· 2-year limited warranty
· Spatial Audio with head tracking, voice assistant, ANC and an App for programmable settings
· 3-hour charge time with 90 hr. playtime
Design, Comfort, and Fit
The design of the Epic Lux Lab Edition feels modern and minimalist with a smooth black finish. Unique ear cup shape, metallic headband arm, leather-like headband and well-padded with foam memory cushions, providing a comfortable fit for long listening sessions.
The headband is sturdy yet lightweight and doesn’t cause pressure points even after extended use. The right earcup houses the touch controls and JLAB button, which are intuitive and responsive without lag. These control playback, ANC, and voice assistant activation. I particularly liked the dual-device connectivity (Bluetooth multipoint) feature, which allowed me to switch seamlessly between my laptop and phone during calls. The headphones also come with a 3.5mm jack for wired use and support wireless charging, which is a thoughtful addition in this category. The good part is the wireless charger also charges my cell phone.
One thing to note is that the headphones do not fold completely flat, so they take up a bit more space when traveling, but JLab includes a hard carrying case for protection.
Sound Quality
The Epic Lux Lab Edition surprised me with its sound signature. The 32mm dynamic drivers deliver a balanced and full sound with a slight warmth to the mids. Bass sits comfortably in the mid-range — tight and refined rather than booming – and vocals remain crisp and clear. The soundstage is wide for a closed-back design, giving a sense of depth that’s impressive for this price.
The JLab app provides customizable EQ and preset modes - Balanced, Bass Boost, and “JLab Signature. Movies and podcasts sound immersive, and the headphones handle multiple genres—pop, jazz, and classical—with good separation and minimal distortion at high volumes.
While the high frequencies can sound slightly sharp when spatial audio is enabled, the overall listening experience is enjoyable and fatigue-free. For its price, I’d rank the Epic Lux Lab Edition’s sound quality above most headphones in that price range.
The multipoint connection worked seamlessly, and I didn’t experience any signal dropouts between devices.
Noise Cancellation and Microphone Quality
The Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on these headphones is effective, especially for mid- and low-frequency sounds like airplane engine noise, or chatter. It’s not on par with the industry leaders, but it’s close—especially considering the cost.
The transparency mode works well, allowing ambient sounds through when needed, like during short conversations or outdoor runs. The 4-microphone array also does a good job of filtering out background noise during calls. I tested it in a moderately noisy cafe, and the person on the other end mentioned clear voice pickup with minimal background interference.
Battery Life
The battery life is one of the standout features. JLab claims up to 90 hours of playback without ANC and about 60 hours with ANC on. After using it for over a week—around 2–3 hours daily with ANC enabled—I still had more than 70% battery remaining. The included wireless charging pad is a nice premium touch and adds convenience to daily use. It also supports USB-C fast charging, which provides several hours of playtime from a short 15-minute charge.
Overall Impression
The Epic Lux Lab Edition ANC Over-Ear Headphones are a strong step forward for JLab. They deliver premium-level features—adaptive ANC, multipoint connectivity, 90-hour battery life, and wireless charging—at a mid-tier price. The audio quality is rich, dynamic, and enjoyable across different listening environments.
Its minor drawbacks include a slightly bulky design, low on bass and occasional sharpness at high treble frequencies in spatial mode. However, these are small trade-offs for a budget headphones with premium features.

Great headphones for on-the-go!

The JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition is an exciting new member in the family. These headphones offer high-fidelity dynamic drivers, adaptive active noise cancelation, mic, app customization and wireless charging. A travel case is included which also has room for the round wireless charger.
Setup was easy. I read the manual to know how to pair before getting started. Then I downloaded the app. When the app was ready to connect, I started the pairing process on the headphones and connected in seconds. There wasn’t much of a setup after that, just choosing preferences by using the app. The active noise cancelation has many options, including intensity, adaptiveness and the opposite “Be Aware”, which amplifies the sounds around you, if needed. You can also use the headphones for phone calls, and it even uses multiple microphones to eliminate environmental noises, so that your voice is prioritized. You can be connected to two devices at once, meaning you can be on the phone and watch YouTube on your PC at the same time.
The default sound is detailed and balanced with the JLab signature sound, aka EQ1. The bass is clear and defined, the mid range is rich and the high frequencies are smoothly enhanced. EQ2 was more balanced with a less dramatic curve while EQ3 put more emphasis on the bass. 4th option is the custom EQ, which you might prefer, if you know your frequencies. I found the presets to be pushing the mid-range a bit, which is beneficial at low and medium levels, but I found the custom EQ to be more useful when I wanted to turn it up and be completely immersed. And this was tested without the ANC, since it will affect the sound, to some extent. Speaking of which, the ANC was very effective at removing the sound of my air conditioner, and I’m looking forward to flying with these in a couple of days. For travel, the included case is perfect to prevent dents and scratches while the headphones are in your backpack. The case also has a dedicated spot for the wireless charger that allows you to charge the headset while it balances on top of it. The case also has a pocket for the included cables.
Finally, the design. It has a sleek, smooth look with a minimalistic approach. There’s one button (power and pairing) and one USB-C port for charging. USB-C Cable included, but no charger. No typical 3.5mm port but a 3.5mm to USB-C cable is included for a wired connection. You can adjust volume and change tracks etc. by touching the side of the headset. There’s also a “secret” button, the JLab button, which allows you to change ANC, noise control and spatial audio. This is of course easier to take care of in the app. The app even offers a burn-in feature, which plays strange sounds through the headphones for 40 hours to optimize them, if you’re a believer. The headphones are comfortable to wear and adjustable to fit differently sized heads. The ear cushions are soft and leathery and they fit nicely over my ears. The frame is metal, so I’m confident they’ll last for a long time. Overall, they look and feel sturdy.
The Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones are great for traveling, whether you’re taking the bus, a flight or walking to school or work. They’re built to last and adaptable for multiple scenarios. The travel case is the added bonus that makes them very recommendable.

The Ultimate ANC Experience

I’ve had these headphones for about a week now, and I have to say, I love them. They sound incredible. The lows are deep, and the mids and highs are crisp and clean. The acoustic immersion is fantastic, pulling you right into whatever you’re listening to.
The build quality feels solid and premium while still being lightweight and comfortable. I love that they are over-ear headphones but not overly bulky. JLab clearly put a lot of thought into their design, using quality materials without driving up the cost like many competitors. The plastic outer cups have a smooth matte black finish paired with shiny black logos for a sleek, modern look. The shiny metal accents around the earcups feel sturdy, and the headband is soft, featuring a tight mesh underneath and a leatherette wrap on top.
The earcups are plush, squishy, and extremely comfortable, perfect for long listening sessions or flights. The noise canceling is outstanding. Even when the headphones are powered off, they block a surprising amount of sound. When active, the ANC is some of the best I’ve experienced. I have a flight coming up soon, and these are absolutely the pair I’m bringing.
Transparency mode works well too. I usually prefer full noise canceling, but it’s nice to have the option when I need to stay aware, like when cleaning or keeping an ear out for the kids.
To get the most out of these headphones, the JLab app is a must. It offers preloaded EQ presets and a custom mode, and my favorite by far is the JLab Signature setting. The app also lets you adjust touch and button controls, turn spatial audio on or off, and perform firmware updates to keep everything current.
The spatial audio feature is incredible to experiment with. The head-tracking mode makes it feel like you’re sitting front row at a concert. As you turn your head, the sound stays fixed in its original position, creating a natural and immersive experience, especially with acoustic or live music.
I love that the headset has only one physical button that handles multiple functions, while touch controls make it easy and intuitive to use. The included USB-C cable is handy, but the magnetic charging puck is my favorite part. You just set the headphones on the puck to wirelessly recharge. It looks great and adds a high-tech touch to any desk setup. I’m a big fan of wireless charging, and this design nails it.
Call quality is excellent on both ends, with clear and balanced audio for conversations.
Overall, these headphones completely blew me away. The sound is rich and balanced across all genres like rock, metal, jazz, pop, country, or lo-fi, they handle it all effortlessly. JLab absolutely knocked it out of the park with the Epic Lux. They’ve earned the top spot as my new favorite ANC headphones.

The JLAB Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones might be the most surprising pair I’ve ever tried. In the world of noise cancellation, a few big names come to mind, and none of them are JLAB. But these hold their own against some of the giants, and they do it at a significantly lower price point.
My wife has a pair of high-end noise-canceling headphones that I occasionally use, and I actually find the JLABs much more comfortable. The fit feels more secure, and I really like how small they can be adjusted. My head runs a little on the smaller side, so adjustability is always a big deal for me.
When it comes to noise cancellation, they aren’t quite as good as my wife’s headphones or the top-tier brands I mentioned earlier, but they’re close. In fact, they’re comparable enough that I’d call these a far better value, especially considering how many premium features they include. For example, you can temporarily disable ANC by holding your hand over the right ear cup, which lets you have a quick conversation without taking them off. They also support multipoint Bluetooth, so you can stay connected to multiple devices at once, which is really convenient if you’re switching between your phone and laptop.
As for sound quality, they do an excellent job in terms of balance and overall clarity. I wouldn’t say they excel in any one particular area, and even the bass boost option falls a little short in the bass department. However, when paired with the ANC, they create a very pleasant listening experience. I find them more than sufficient for my use, but if sound quality is your top priority, you may want to shop around.
The JLAB app is simple to use and does a great job of laying out all the available features. You can fine-tune ANC levels, customize touch controls, enable special audio modes, and adjust the EQ. The battery life is also outstanding, and you’ll probably only need to charge them every few weeks, if that.
Overall, I’m beyond impressed with these headphones. They far exceeded my expectations and really shine in terms of comfort, advanced features, and noise cancellation performance. I don’t borrow my wife’s headphones anymore, because I genuinely prefer these, even if her ANC is technically a little better. As I mentioned earlier, when it comes to these headphones, think balance. You get a lot of bang for your buck along with some high-end features, but they don’t completely run away from the competition in any category, (except maybe comfort).

The new Jlab Epic Lux Lab Edition ANC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones totally impressed me as soon as I unboxed them and quickly set them up. The directions are brief and suggest a user download the JLab app to set up the preferred settings. I highly recommend using the app because it gives you the option to adjust the settings for ANC, Spatial audio, equalizer preferences, safe hearing settings, and checking for new firmware for the headphones. I only had issues with the updating of new firmware on the headphones. It would slowly download at times and then not verify it was connections I finally was able to get the update to download and install successfully. Ido have to mention that my initial installation was on a new iPhone with beta software which could have been the sole issue for obtaining my firmware installing easily.
I then decided to pair the headphones with my android phones which was an easier process, and I loved that it saved the devices the headphones were paired with so I could easily switch between the different devices with no issues.
I like that the headphones come with a wireless charging dock which is a solid, handy way to charge the headphones if away from home or traveling and need to charge the headphones safely. The coolest feature of the headphones is that they can last 70 hourss without using ANC. It drops down to 60 hours of battery life when using ANC. I love that the headphones have settings to enjoy head-tracking Spatial Audio that gives an incredible sound with their special technology. According to the manufacturer website it only takes 3 hours to fully charge the headphones, which is an acceptable amount of time to give you at least 70 hours of use.
The headphones, which are full of amazing features, only weigh 2.15lbs and with the materials used in the construction of the headphones they use quality parts that make the headphones comfortable to wear. They also include exceptional sound quality via high-fidelity 32mm dynamic drivers, bringing depth and clarity to your music.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the high-quality headphones with all the features I look for in new headphones. They also come with a 2 year warranty per the specifications listed for the headphones.

They say that appearance and presentation is paramount and JLab did just that with these headphones.
The headphones are very sleek looking and give off a very premium feel.
They're quite comfortable to where. The padding on the earcups are very soft so they won't cause you pain while wearing them for long durations. I've got a pretty large melon for a head and they fit great.
Onto what really matters, the sound.
I've still not been able given these the full 40 hours of break in as I've been rather busy with work. I'm a bass head through and through. These could do with a lot more in the low-end. The highs are there and mid's are alright, but the bass is lacking. I've got a Wireless Stereo headset for my work and those are a fraction of the side have way more bass than these.
I tried different genres, from Rap, Hip Hop/R&B, Rock, Metal, EDM, all of them, the bass just wasn't there. Again, I really like bass and maybe I'm entirely biased with it. Even with the EQ set to prioritize it, it just fell flat. I like to feel the bass, not just hear it, and you don't get that with these. For music that doesn't emphasize bass, these are perfectly fine. Perhaps once I've burned them in for 40 hours it will change and if so, so will my review.
The earcup controls are easy enough to use. Adjusting the sound could do with some finer control. On my S22 Ultra when I was increasing or decreasing the volume, it would do so in about 20% increments regardless of how far I swiped up or down. Adjusting the ANC works perfectly and there is a very discernable difference. It's not near as strong of ANC as I've seen on similar or higher priced headphones. I've a pair of Earbuds I got a couple years ago for review that are quite expensive and they do a better job, but that's a bit like comparing Apples to Oranges. My Headphones from another very well known brand that would be considered the Bar for ANC do a significantly better job, but again, these are more expensive. For around the $200 price point, these perform well.
The App is easy enough to use. It's got options for your EQ and Noise Cancelling. You can also pair your device through the app quickly.
For accessories, JLab includes some very nice braided cables, not something I've seen with any of the headphones, headsets or earbuds I've gotten over the years. It's a small detail but one that stands out from so many other brands.
You also get a wireless charging puck, which is quite handy and a pretty nice extra.
The case the holds everything inside and it feels sturdy, enough so that I wouldn't be all too concerned if I accidentally dropped it. Inside you'll find a spot for the Wireless charging puck, a pouch for your cables and a molded fit for the headphones themselves.
They're a nice pair of headphones. I think they'd do better around $50 cheaper as they can easily be outclassed by other headphones in the $200 range.

These headphones are some of the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. They are extremely well built and deliver solid audio performance with good noise cancellation. The touch controls and vocal prompts make them very easy to use and enjoy. Combined with the JLabs app on your mobile device these headphones are feature rich and I highly recommend them.
Pros:
- Good Adaptive Noise Cancellation and audio quality
- Vocal updates and Status information
- Configurable via the JLabs mobile app
- Wireless Charging Dock included along with Carrying Case
- Supports multiple connections as well as Lab Share connectivity
Cons:
- No mute capability for phone calls
Performance: These headphones were easy to set up and pair with my ipad and my iphone. Using the JLab app I was able to set the button and touch controls, turn on spacial audio, adjust the equalizer or choose the presets that are included and check for updates. The touch controls are useful since its just swiping across the ear muff vs having to find a button located on the headphones. The audio quality was very good with clear mids and highs with bass that you would expect from headphones this size. The ANC was strong enough to cut out environmental noise without affecting the overall audio quality. The audio – vocal prompts make using these headphones very easy to set up and enjoy. You get status and update info without having to decode tones or search out leds.
Fit: The overall build quality is solid and these headphones are really comfortable. The ear muffs are the perfect size, not so big that they interfere with my eyeglasses and not so small that I feel like my head is in a vice. The materials are soft and conforming to the fit which means the ear muffs seal off environmental sounds and gently rest around my ears. Over the ear headphones can get quite warm when using them for a long period but these seem to stay cooler longer.

What got me excited
I have never owned a Jlab product before, but have heard good things from friends.
What I’m expecting
I’m expecting this to sound like a premium pair of headphones considering their high price. Granted, it’s not AS expensive as other brands, but $200 is still $200.
What’s included in the packaging?
Out of the box you get the headphones, encased in a nice carrying case, a wireless charging base, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a 3.5mm jack to USB-Cable, and a quick start guide.
My first impressions
The headphone look pretty sleek. The included case is a welcome surprise, and the wireless charging option is awesome. The build quality is nice and it feels sturdy.
Let’s try it out
I will say, the quick start guide is one of the best and most comprehensive quick start guides I’ve ever read. It not only explains how to pair it, but has a QR code to download the app, and all of the functions of the buttons.
The headphones are pretty comfortable. For the review, I wore them for about 90 minutes straight during a movie, but more on that later.
The pads are leather’ish material, but not sure if it’s actually leather. If I had to guess, pleather. Comfortable regardless. The top band that sits on the head is soft material. The heat adjustment is fluid and the phones turn without issue. The headphones themselves have a nice quality hefty feeling to them, but don’t feel heavy when being worn.
The app pairing is a must if you want to take advantage of the full array of features. With the app you can see battery status at a glance, control ANC, choose from a pre-set equalizer or customize your own, etc.
One of the more interesting features is the spatial audio. This isn’t new or unique to JLAB, but it’s still interesting when it’s turned on. When you turn it on, your phone or main device that’s paired becomes the source. So if your phone is still in front of you and you turn your head to the right, most of the music will come from the left phone and the volume in the right phone will lower.
The only part that’s too much is all of the different button pushing sequences and touch controls. At one point I decided that I wouldn’t use this to answer any calls or do anything outside of music/movies, and ANC.
The headphones sound great. The default bass is pretty deep. The sound is a little strange when you turn ANC on and try listening to music. You can distinctly tell the difference when music is playing with ANC on and OFF.
As mentioned earlier, I watched a movie with a lot of great audio to test the sound quality, and I will say that these sounded pretty good.
What stood out that was positive
The sound was pretty good, app is awesome, they’re comfortable, and reasonably priced.
What stood out that was negative
The only negative really is the physical buttons sequences to accomplish different tasks. At that point, I would rather just have two or three more physic buttons to do calling and voice assistant.
Who is this targeted at?
This is targeted at people who want a nice ANC headphones without breaking the bank. These are good as an everyday pair, but for true audiophiles, there are definitely better options out there.
All in all
You get wireless charging, an awesome app, and comfort, all for a great price. I would recommend this item.

Quality Feature Filled Headphones

I own many earbuds, but have found that over-the-ear headphones are a must for long period comfort, such as during long flights. I have owned JLab products in the past and wanted to test out the Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones.
I was amazed at the quality of the materials and feel of these headphones. It is unheard of to have an included hard case and wireless charger at this price point. The included USB-C to 3.5mm and USB-C to USB-C cables do not feel as premium quality as the headphones, but they were a nice addition.
Setup went smoothly, but I was a little thrown off during the firmware update. I thought the app froze at first, but figured out that the progress notification had just stalled.
The sound performance was phenomenal; I would compare the sound quality to that of headphones costing 2 to 3 times this price. The features were plentiful, with auto pause/resume when headphones are taken off and put back on, multiple noise canceling modes, customization of touch controls and push buttons, adjustment of sound using the equalizer, 2 different volume limiting options, and spatial audio. The only feature I did not care for was the spatial audio option, due to the focal sound. I hope JLab rolls out an update to provide more immersion sound versus using this focal point sound.
I also tried out these headphones for phone calls, and I could hear and be heard clearly.
I was amazed at how great these headphones performed and highly recommend these for anyone looking for a great pair of over-the-ear headphones.

Overall, the JLab epic lux lab edition headphones have been superb. I've had very little, if any complaints since using them. With wireless charging, adaptive noise-canceling and multi point connection on top of great audio, there's very little to complain about and a lot to unpack.
In the box, you get a hard shell headphone case, which is really nice. I very much love toting around the headset with this case.It also comes with a usb c to c cable and a charging pad for wireless charging. The way that the headphone stands on top of the wireless charging pad is also extremely cool and innovative and looks really cool on my desk.
For the sound out of the box, they sound fantastic. And if you want to fine tune the eq settings, you can do so within the app. I've had a great time listening to music and audio books with these headphones. They are comfortable during long session and i have yet to have ear fatigue. For the price, you cannot go wrong with the JLab Epic Lux Lab edition headphones. These have become by daily drivers when liatening to music and audiobooks around the house.

The build of the headphones is nice, and they feel sturdy. The charging is great too, you get a little qi charger that they lay on to easily charge, so you don’t have to worry about if they have battery or not. Since it’s a qi charger you can also use the same thing to charge your phone. Weird choice though is that you get the little puck for charging, but no actual plug for the wall, but what you get does all fit nicely into the case to carry. On the sound side, the headphones do sound good. You get adaptive noise canceling, which is nice, no need to fumble to turn it off. And the controls are customizable too. I also like that you get a headphone connector that goes to the USB C, which makes these great for traveling on a plane. The touch controls are also good, but at least for me hard to remember what all the buttons do.
So, what are the things I don’t like? The biggest downside for me is the app for iOS. You won’t get the nice apple integration, so you need an app, but the app still feels dated and hangs. When trying to get the firmware updated, I had a few failures and app would just stop. The design also needs an update; it just feels a bit dated. It does let you customize a lot of what happens when you use the buttons but just doesn’t look great. I’d also like to have a front page for quick settings, instead of fumbling through the menu to say turn on ANC.
Overall, I do like the headphones, they sounds good and I like the charging setup. Just the app could use some work.

Poor Sound Quality, Software Issues

The JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition ANC Headphones are JLab’s newest, premium over ear headphone offering touting “Immersive audio with high-fidelity 32mm dynamic drivers and Advanced Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation” with LDAC support for Android devices, Wireless Charging, and Multishare technology. After using these headphones for a couple weeks, they simply do not meet the mark in almost any metric and quite honestly are disappointing in their performance (LDAC streaming doesn’t work).
In the Box:
- Headphones
- Carrying Case
- Wireless Charging Dock (No Wall Adapter)
- USB-C Cable
- USB-C to 3.5mm Cable (Wired Audio)
Design/Fit:
Taking these headphones out of the box, they look and feel fairly premium for the price. They do have a fair amount of plastic in their construction which isn’t uncommon for this price and over ear headphones in general. The ear and headband cushions are made of a cloth type material and have a good amount of padding. The overall fit of the headphones are decent but with the design of the ear cup swivel, I found myself having to adjust the fit on my head more than some headphones to get the optimal seal over ear. They are also notably heavier than some of the competition coming in at 9.7oz, which is about 10% heavier than another pair that I compared them to.
The right side features a touch pad and JLab button which can be adjusted within the app for certain features and functions. The headphones do not completely fold flat, so I would recommend using the hard case during transportation for optimal protection.
Setup:
Setup out of the box is a breeze although you will want to download the JLab app for software updates, feature adjustment, and more in depth sound control. Out of the box, my headphones were at least two versions of software and proceeded to update. After a few minutes, they were done and ready to use. This is where things started to go downhill… quickly.
Sound Quality:
The biggest downfall of these headphones is the Sound Quality. For starters, the LDAC function does not work with either of my Android devices. The headphones updated to version 1.0.58 and this version promises “reduces power consumption for all noise control modes, and improves the LDAC connection quality”. The fact that the LDAC doesn’t work at all likely impacts audio quality and output with these headphones but I don’t believe it is the sole reason behind the poor audio quality.
The JLab app features three preset EQ settings along with a custom setting. The three presets are JLab Signature, Balanced, and Bass Boost. To be frank, these sound very poor. There are certain frequencies in the mid range that are being overly pronounced. This can be fixed (mostly) by using the Custom EQ but then the overall volume output goes down when Custom is selected by a large amount to the point of maximum volume being roughly where my preferred listening volume would be.
The ANC works fairly well and is probably one of the few highlights of these headphones. It blocks out most moderate noises easily. These are nowhere near the class leaders for noise cancellation and they wouldn't be my pick for an airplane ride but I think the average person would find it acceptable for this price point.
The microphones are another disappointing feature. I tested this by making two phone calls with two different people using this headphone and another premium offering from another brand and both people said the other one was much clearer and didn't have as much echo. This is after returning from a trip where I used that same competing headphone in a busy airport to make calls and I don't believe the JLab would have accomplished the same noise and voice isolation nearly as well.
Likes:
- Battery Life
- Included Carrying Case
Dislikes:
- Sound Quality
- Microphone Quality
- Heavier Than Some Headphones
- Ear Cup Fitment (Hard to get perfect seal)
- “JLab Audio Feedback” - Turning On/Off
- Wireless Charging (Not Necessary)
Overall, the JLab Epic Lux Lab ANC headphones are a disappointment. From the features and functionality that doesn't work correctly to the overall sound quality or the microphone quality, these are all things that I would expect to perform better for a premium over ear headphone at this price point. If you're in the market for a premium headphone in this price range, I would highly recommend looking towards one of the older models from a different well known brand as it offers better performance in every way.

JLab is known for making high quality, lower cost electronics, so the idea of a $200 pair of headphones is surprising. Bu they deliver by providing sound quality and features that you would expect to pay much more for.
The Epic Lux Lab come packaged with a USB-C cable for charging and a USB to 3.5mm dongle for audio input, a wireless charging pad, and a sturdy carrying case. The earpads fold flat for storage in the case, but do not swivel up. This means the case is quite large for travel, one of the few negatives of these headphones.
Build quality is solid, with premium feeling materials everywhere. The earpads are soft and fit comfortably around my ears, forming a tight seal that helped block ambient sound. The headband feels sturdy, and the entire headphone is reasonably lightweight and easy to wear for extended periods. Which is good, as the battery life is astounding – a claimed 40+ hours of playing time without ANC, 10+ hours with. Based on my initial listening, they should easily hit these numbers.
ANC is exceptional, as background noise pretty much disappears when you turn it on. The same microphones that are used to feed ANC also provide great call audio.
Sound quality is excellent, although not audiophile level. The sound is clear, individual instruments are easy to place, and the soundstage is excellent, particularly with spatial audio turned on. The graphic equalizer allows you to fine-tune the sound, and I found increasing the level of high frequencies from the JLab Signature Sound setting made music sound much better. On some songs it is possible to muddy up the bass, particularly by adjusting the 2150Hz setting too high, but otherwise the ability to create and store four EQ presets is welcome.
Spatial audio is really good. It expands the soundstage and makes everything feel more open. It’s closer to the sound of a multi-channel system, or at least the wider soundstage normally associated with open back headphones. There can be some obvious distortion when spatial is turned on. An apparent digital artifact, this seems pronounced in the octave from 440Hz-880Hz. It’s not constant and it doesn’t even occur on every track, but when it happens you will notice it. I do appreciate the fact that head tracking can be turned off, as I frequently find this feature more annoying than it’s worth.
While they do a good job with music, I really enjoy these headphones when watching videos. Voices are clear, the spatial effect makes the audio part of the experience feel more natural, and they’re easy to wear comfortably for hours.
Overall, these are really outstanding headphones. They’re easy to listen to for long periods, deliver high quality sound, advanced features, great ANC, and remarkable battery life. They are also quite a bargain.

Great Features And Incredibly Long Battery Life

JLAB has a new set of headphones added to their line. The JLAB Epic Lux Lab Edition. With the headset comes improvements over the previous version of their JLAB Lux ANC Headphones.
Comfort
I like the comfort level I get with the Epic Lux headset. I’m able to wear them for a long time without them bothering me. I’ve had days where I wore them for 8 hours in a day and I have done that on consecutive days. Comfort hasn’t been an issue. These are much better than the JLAB Lux ANC headphones that I have. I can’t wear those for as long as period of time as I can with the Epic Lux headset.
Features
The headset supports multi-point connectivity via Bluetooth. This is a feature that should be standard on headphones now and is supported on the Epic Lux headset. JLAB has a feature called LabShare. I’m the only one in my home, so this is a feature I wouldn’t use, but if I had someone else living with me and they had an Epic Lux headset, we could share the same audio source out to both headsets. I can see where this would be a great feature for a multi-person household where the audio from a TV might be shared out to multiple people for something like movies or TV shows. On the right earpiece is where the controls are located. There is a touch sensitive control for increasing/decreasing volume and for play forward/back. I can set what the controls do via the JLAB app. Tapping it can control a few features if you set it to do so through the JLAB app. I updated the firmware also through the app. The app gives me a lot of control over the headset. JLAB has put some thought into the app and I’m glad to see that they did. There is a power button that is also a multi-function button. With it, I can control phone functions and Google Assistant/Siri. Also, there is another multi-function button with the JLAB logo on it. I can control noise canceling with it as well as turn on spatial audio. Both physical buttons are easy for me to find by touch.
Active noise cancelling (ANC) works good on the Epic Lux. It’s much better that it is on my Lux ANC headset. JLAB has made noticeable improvements here. Spatial Audio is also a feature.
Battery life is impressive. I can have these on for about 8 hours a day for 4-5 days without having to charge them. The battery life is so much better that with my Lux ANC headset.
Charging
The headphones come with a USB-C charge cable as well as a wireless charger. The wireless charger is well made and a nice accessory to be included with the headset. I found that when using the wireless charger, I can place the left ear piece down on the charger and it charges the headphones up to 50%. In order to charge to 100%, I have to, after charging the left side to 50%, turn the headphones over and lay the right side down on the wireless charger. I’m not sure if this is the intended way the headphones are supposed to work with the charger since it seems that you should only have to lay the one side down on it to allow for charging up to 100%. The booklet that came with the headset says to just lay the left earpiece on the wireless charger to charge them. It doesn’t mention that you can only charge up to 50% that way and in order to charge from 50% to 100% you’ll have to turn it over and lay the right side down on the wireless charger. I can wireless charge to 100%, it’s just that doing that way is inconvenient and I should only have to place one side down to get the charger to charge them to 100%.
Final Thoughts
The Epic Lux Lab Edition is a major improvement over the Lux ANC headset. Features, comfort, and battery life all have been improved. I’m glad to see JLAB moving forward with each iteration of the Lux headsets. If you are looking to upgrade your Lux ANC headset or just looking for a new headset, then consider the JLAB Epic Lux Lab Edition.

I have had a few pair of JLab headphones over the years, but this is my first pair of over-ear and I came away very impressed.
The build is great, and I like the materials choices. They feel solid, are a really nice weight, and just “feel good in the hand.” I also really like how easily they fold down and fit in the case. I haven’t been able to take them on a trip yet, but it will be easy taking them along, which is a major plus for me. Further, the controls are very intuitive and all work very well, and while I often do not opt for the gesture control options, I think I will be using them heavily here. Lastly, they are comfortable for me. On some level this is a personal thing, but also on some level it is somewhat of a dealbreaker for me. If headphones are not comfortable, I am likely not to wear them. That is not the case here, even after some long sessions. Admittedly, given their cup shape is a bit different, I was a little worried going in.
As for sound, it is quite good. It is a tick below some pricier cans in the market, but, those are much pricier, and, well, these sound good. Everything is fairly balanced and there is a nice amount of low end. Zero complaints. It is much of the same story with ANC. Very good, but perhaps not the best. I was impressed, and I think most will be as well.
Along those lines, getting the app is a must. It is full of options and gives you a really nice level of control over the headphones. It is simple to use and is really worth digging in to. You can really dial the sound in to what and how you like. It is definitely worth the time.
Lastly, battery life has been great so far. This can be somewhat of a dealbreaker for me, but it seems the market has more or less solved this, as has JLab. Not only do these have great battery life, but they charge quickly. I expect this will be a non-issue for me and I won’t really have much battery anxiety with these at all.
Ultimately, I really like these headphones. I think they offer a very well-rounded set of features. They sound good, are comfortable, easy to use, and have great battery life. I think they probably overshoot their price point a bit, and for what you get I think the value is definitely there.

Luxury combined with JLAB's excellent quality

I have lost count of the different JLAB pairs of headphones and earbuds I have used over the years, as I just keep getting more of them because I like them so much. Whenever anyone asks me for input about headphones I always say JLAB is the biggest sleeper brand on the market, they are highly underrated as I don’t hear about them much but I have yet to find a pair I don’t enjoy using. For starters, the JLAB app has been great to use, and using it with these new Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones is no different. It is very user friendly and the customization options are great. The headphones themselves have been very comfortable, even after hours of use while working. The foam around the earcups and headband feel high quality and do not bother the skin with prolonged use. These are very ergonomic as well with the rotating earcups, and a huge bonus feature is the option to connect to two different bluetooth devices at once. This feature has been especially useful while working as I can connect my phone for background music but have my work laptop audio available easily without switching devices. JLAB really went all out with the features of these headphones, the list goes on and on but I think important to note is the included wireless charging pad, as well as the high tech touch/swipe options. Having touch options that are easy to remember and actually work as they should are so important, as they can make or break the user experience. I am happy to report that not once did I get frustrated with unresponsive touch controls. Last but potentially most important, is the sound quality of these headphones. Wow, as a mild audiophile myself, I will honestly not even use certain headphones if I don’t like the sound, but like I said before, JLAB time and time again impresses me with their audio quality. The bass is strong and punchy, but still clear and not muddy sounding. And the app is very useful for fine tuning it to your preferences or depending on what you are listening to. These may just be my most favorite headphones to date, and I cannot recommend them enough.

Outstanding quality and performance

I have used a lot of different brands and styles of headsets, and these have been the best performing so far. They rival products that cost over double what these are. You can see and feel the quality right out of the box. The headphones, and the charger, fit well in the sturdy case. Setup is super easy. The included charger is wireless and all you have to do is plug it in set the left ear cuff on the charger to begin charging. The charger holds the headphones securely in place magnetically. Charge time is fast the indicator light turns green to let you know when it is ready. The JLAB mobile application is a breeze to setup. All you need to do is connect your headphones to Bluetooth and the app effortless connects and checks for any updates. No changes are needed, but you have the option set the equalizer or enable or disable optional settings.
You can feel the quality the first time you put the headphones on. The head piece adjustments are smooth, and the metal is stylish and durable. The only physical button is the power button that also allows it to enter pairing mode by holding in for 8 seconds. All the other controls are completely hidden and controlled by tapping or swiping your finger on the right side. The logo on the right side can pressed to turn on adaptive noise cancelling or disable to allow hearing sounds around you. They are light and easy to wear for long periods. Sound quality is top notch, and the noise cancellation does a good job of blocking outside sounds. The headphones can also track your movement and change the sounds to track the location of the source. There is no visible microphone, and the sound inputs are surprisingly on the back of the headphone. One drawback is there no way to mute the mic directly from the headphones. An added benefit is that you can have two different Bluetooth devices connected at the same time. I like I can have my work laptop and my phone connected at the same time and it automatically switches between the two.
If you want an affordable headset that is comfortable, sounds great, has long battery life and can be used for work and entertainment, this is a great option.
