Epic Failure Of A Epic Keyboard

I bought this keyboard because Jlab is a good, solid company and the mechanical key presses felt great on the store demo. Little did I know that this Epic keyboard would start to act like it was 20 years old in just under 3 weeks. It misses key presses now, sometimes multiple times when you press the key repeatedly trying to get the correct letters on the screen, especially frustrating when typing user names and passwords. I spend a lot of time going back and correcting the mny, many typos and misspellings this keyboard creates.
But that is not all, the keyboard will also generate multiple charcters machine gun stylearound 10 to 15 for a single keystroke. FYI I'm going to leave the errors and missed keystrokes in my review because I'm tired of this. Naturally this started only a single day after Best Buys scant 2 week return window closed on me. Murphy's law strikes again
Now I have to box this Epic failure up and send it off to California and wait for Jlabs to get around to determining if they deem it defective and then wait for a new product, at least I hope it will be new, to be shipped back to me.
I had faith in Jlab but I'm left wondering if there is no end in sight for just how bad products can go these days in the search for profit.

After trying it out multiple times in-store, the JLab Epic Mechanical keyboard feels the absolute best out of all of the other office keyboards. This is perfect for people who want to have a well-built keyboard and a great typing experience, but don't want any fancy RGB or anything labeled under the gaming keyboards. Loved it so much that I bought two for my parents and they love it.

Wake up delays

The keyboard lights turn off and it goes to sleep in about 30 seconds. When you start typing, the 1st two keys you type are lost due to the time it takes to wake up. NEVER had a keyboard this slow to wake up, even cheap ones. For over $100, this is UNACCEPTABLE.

Versatile Keyboard with Several Nice Features

When it comes to computer keyboards, there are a lot of things to consider. What is it going to be used for? How does it feel? Can I use it for gaming? These are all just a few of the questions that may be asked. With this latest iteration of keyboards from JLab, they have come up with highly versatile and customizable unit for work and play.
Inside the box you have everything that you need to get started. There is the keyboard itself along with a USB-C cord and USB-C dongle. The dongle is very small and thin so it will not add very much dimension to your computer. So you have 3 ways to connect to your computer. You can go direct line, use the dongle, or even connect via Bluetooth. In all you can connect to three devices.
Connecting to a computer is fast and easy. It literally takes seconds even if pairing to a Bluetooth system. Perhaps the most annoying part about the setup for me was removing the white protective cover from the top strip of the keyboard. The white tape strip left residue on the keyboard and tore off in several placing making removal harder that it should have been. I eventually removed all of the tape and had the keyboard looking nice.
As far as mechanical keyboards go, this keyboard is one of the lighter ones I have tried. At first I was a little thrown off by that, but it really had no effect. I am a little concerned though with the structure. Being a mechanical keyboard, there is a sizable gap between the bottom of the keys and the actual base of the keyboard. This is certainly enough for dirt or dust to get in, but I am more worried that it could lead to a key breaking. It just feels like a key could easily be broken off. I did not have this happen, but it is a potential problem.
Typing on the keyboard was a little adjustment. At first, the keys felt a bit slit. I got used to it quickly. It is just the plastic nature of the keys. Also, in my mind I was just expecting a different feel for a mechanical keyboards. It is different from others I have used. But I quickly got over that. The keys are very fast and surprisingly quiet for a mechanical keyboard. I started to prefer this keyboard over the other mechanical ones I was using.
The keyboard has some very nice features. As mentioned, you can connect to up to 3 different devices. This makes cleaning that clutter off your desk much easier. The keyboard is also backlit which I consider an essential feature any more. However, I you want a keyboard that is going to light up in 256 different colors and add super flair to your system, this one isn't it. Another nice feature is you do not have to add a bunch of batteries to the keyboard. The internal rechargeable battery lasts up to 1-year. When you need to charge it, simply plug it in a let it recharge.
So to break it down at a high level, the cons I have for this keyboard are 1) having to deal with annoying white tape strip when unpacking, 2) keys are elevated which could lead to keyboard damage or a key breaking off, and 3) lack of additional colors to chose from for keyboard lighting. The pros for this keyboard are 1) the ability to connect to three different devices, 2) lightweight, mechanical keyboard, 3) backlighting for keyboard, 4) extremely quiet, mechanical keyboard, and 5) nice, long-lasting, rechargeable battery.
In the end, I really like the new JLAb Epic Mechanical Advanced Multi-device Wireless Keyboard. The ability to connect to up to three devices is just too valuable to me. I can use it to both work and play. The keyboard is quick and responsive. I recommend it for any application from office, to student, to play.

Has decent key feel, some sort of brown plastic in the switches, but doesn't work with any kind of USB cable, only with the USB dongle or bluetooth, making it useless for a machine that can't spare a usb-C port. Moves the pgup/pgdn/home/end keys with no software method of fixing. Also tends to spam random keys while games are running, making it impossible to use for games. One more thing, was 25% more expensive in store, paid $160 in store and is $130 online. Would rate 0 but this is a 4 star rating scheme.
