Great sound and quality for the price. Easy to pair and get going right out of the box. Because they are open ear, they do not do well in noisy settings, so if your looking for a more comfortable fit to replace you in the ear option for yard work these are not them.

I am a pettie person and have trouble with over the ear headphones fitting properly. These are comfortable; sometimes I don't even notice I'm wearing them. I LOVE them. SO glad I chose to go with the JLab headphones!

These airbuds are great! They have a great sound and the person on the other end says I sound clear too. They are very comfortable and stay on my ears as I walk, exercise, clean the house etc. Overall a great earbud!

Great Open-Ear Headphones!

Verdict: the JLAB Epic Open Sport are great earphones that deliver the benefits of open-ear listening – hear your surroundings while still getting good sound (and probably limiting damage to your hearing). However, they are not ideal for really loud places.
Initial impressions. They are lightweight. They rest nicely and comfortable behind the ear. The quick start guide is simple and useful to get going. Setup was straightforward, without any issues. The package includes a USB-C charging cable.
Sound. It takes a few minutes to adjust the placement of the earphones for optimal sound, but once you figure it out, it’s easy the next time. Sound is better than I expected, but of course not as good as active and passive noise cancellation earbuds. The lows are better than I expected, not bad! Due to the open-ear design, these don’t do well in areas with a lot of ambient noise. On the other hand, they are great for hearing your surroundings, for example, when working out (interact with other people), running (hearing traffic), or mountain biking (hearing other riders communicate their intentions).
App. The app is always important to me because, for example, I want the ability to reassign controls so that I don’t have to relearn all controls from one brand to another. With the JLAB app, I can customize controls, adjust the equalizer, boost the bass, listen to white noise, and more.
Running. These earbuds are working well for my running, particularly in avoiding earbuds slipping out from sweat. I can also hear my surroundings, including nature, other runners, cyclists, and vehicles. Best of all, my ears don’t hurt after a long run (1.5 hours) with earbuds pushed in as much as possible). However, running on treadmill with these is not ideal because of the treadmill noise.
Things I like:
- Best open-ear earphones that I have tried in terms of comfort and sound quality
- Super comfortable! You forget they are there
- Decent battery life, with ~30 hours total (7 hours for the earbuds and an additional 23 from the case)
- The app adds a lot of functionality and value to the earbuds. Well done!
- Two-year warranty
- The touch controls work fine
- Great for really sweaty days when my normal earbuds keep sliding out!
- Connection to two devices (I wish it was more… I have other earbuds that do three, it’s amazing!)
Things I don’t like:
- Not great to use in loud environments or noisy activities (for example, running on a treadmill, sitting on a plane, or walking through an airport)
- Sound quality is not great **if compared** to other sealed earbuds with passive and active noise cancellation, but it’s a worthwhile tradeoff depending on the activity. Are you looking for a fully immersive experience during which the world falls away? If so, these are not the earbuds for you. Do you want situational awareness of your surroundings while listening to music, audio, instructions, podcasts, etc.? Then these are for you
- IP55 sweat and dust resistance; I hope that will be enough to use through all the elements when I run… If these are meant to be used outdoor as safer listening devices from increased situational awareness and as sports earphones (Epic Open “Sport”), they should be IP65 so that they survive outdoor conditions. Maybe a dozen of my runs per year are in the rain. I hope these will last
Overall, I think that the JLAB Epic Open Sport are great open-ear earphones, but they are not for everyone. In terms of the open-ear category, it’s the best one I have tried. However, when compare to my high-end earbuds, the Epic Open Sport can’t compete on sound quality – but then again, they are not meant to. The Epic Open Sport provides quality audio in an open-air format to allow for situational awareness and avoid earbuds slipping out of your ears. I like them, and I am using them on my runs now because it’s soooo hot that I can’t keep my earbuds in due to excess sweating. As a general pair of everyday earphones, I would rate these at 3.5 Star. For a pair of open-ear earphones, I would rate these at 4.5 Star (rounded up to 5 stars). I hope this review helps a few people.

The JLAB Epic Open Sport earbuds are a very high quality and comfortable pair of earbuds that I would definitely recommend to others. I have been using them for a full week in three scenarios: sport (running 3 to 5 miles), office (videoconferencing), and listening music, and I can see that exceed expectations in all the three.
In the box, you have your user guide, USB-C to USB-C charging wire, the carrying case, and the two JLAB Epic earbuds. The manual gives a quick guide on how to start using the device. One of the most useful aspects is the QR-code the quickly enables you to download the JLAB app. Like with most of the wireless devices, I strongly recommend downloading the app to manage some of the functionalities that you would otherwise miss, such as the firmware update that it will keep your software up to date with the best performance.
First to note is its connection to the phone or laptop, which is impressively fast and effortless. In fact, this is done even without having the app downloaded, all you need is your Bluetooth activated. The same effortless feeling appears when you are pairing your equipment to the app.
The earbuds are designed great with an apparent high level of quality. After an extensive usage, and in some cases an intentional mistreatment (for testing), the shape remains strong as good as new. From a comfort point of view, I am also very happy how it adapts to my ear and despite wearing glasses. This very fact was able to change what I thought about "open-eared" headphones, as I thought they would work well with glasses. Over the years, I've been avoiding these models for the incompatibility with the sun/sports glasses and the designers of this one nailed it. One last thing in this area is the fact that these earbuds they hold on tight during vigorous activity; they don't get loose or fall off.
All controls can easily be accessed from the earbuds with a physical button and, with the app, they can be adapted to your preferences. With that you can play or pause music, move to your next track, move to your previous track, and increase or decrease volume, which I have actually found very useful. The sound is great and, in the app, you can play with the equalizer to adapt it to your preferences. There are two preset options for people who either don't want to mess with them or don't really want to: movie mode or music mode.
When you first put them on, it sounds pretty quiet, but you get used to it pretty fast, and let me tell you, that audio quality is awesome. Of course, the earbuds allow you to very clearly hear anything around that makes them a superb option while running in open space to be save in your surroundings. Note that while the sound is not noise canceling, the mic has that functionality and in case you are exercising and talking at the same time, the person on the other end will not be able to notice it.
I would also hate to forget the fact these earbuds have amazing battery life. I have been able to use these for three days straight without needing to charge them. Note also that the battery is doubled with the extra power stored in the case. The specs are promising up to 40 hours and I can't question it.
All in all, these are some really great earbuds, are very high quality, they feel awesome, and I would definitely recommend these to friends.

These things are COMFORTABLE and SOUND GREAT. That is all.
OK. Maybe I should add a few more details. These are “open” earbuds, so they have absolutely NO ability to block sounds. Noise cancelling is not even an option. So these are NOT for noisy areas. Crowded city streets and on airplanes are NOT good places to use these. But if your environment is quiet, or you need to be able to hear honking horns or people yelling at you, these will do the trick. The sound quality is excellent to my non-audiophile ears, but the deep bass is slightly lacking, simply because there isn’t a seal between the ear buds and your ears. This isn’t a defect, but just a fact for this type of earbuds. While I use these as my “office buds,” they are also designed to be “sweat and dust proof” for running or exercising. Each bud also has two buttons: a touch sensitive surface that defaults to volume control, and a physical clicky button on the top that can be used to answer or hang up calls, play, pause, and all of the usual tricks. However, by downloading the app (I use Android), you can change the button settings, as well as adjust the equalizer. The app is optional, but adds some nice features and customization.
Another trick that these buds do is that they can connect to TWO different sources at the same time (say, your phone and your laptop). Only one can be actively driving them at a time, but if one source starts playing, it will pause the other one. A phone call on your phone can interrupt your YouTube stream on your computer. This is a very nice touch and is much appreciated.
The real-world battery life is around 6 or 7 hours using just the batteries in the buds themselves. Popping them back in the case will juice them up pretty fast, but you won’t get one work-day’s worth of use without a quick charging session. The case itself promises up to around 30 hours or so of total usage, and that seems like a reasonable estimate. The case itself features a USB-C port for charging, as well as wireless charging, so you can use whichever is more convenient. The case is also slim, so it fits in a back pocket well without sticking out too much.
The only issue that I have encountered is the latency. For music, they are wonderful. If you are using them to watch a video, you may notice that the sound arrives 30 ms after the video. This happens on both WIndows 11 and Android phone usage. Not a huge deal, but I thought that I should mention it.
So, these are simply great buds, and the most comfortable ones that I have ever used. Add in the great sound, and you have a winner. If you don’t need noise cancelling, I can highly recommend these.

I appreciate the style and look of the earbuds themselves. The touch is too sensitive. The buds hurt the top of my ear. I have really wanted to get Open Air earbuds. Unfortunately, these are not the ones.

I’ve grown to really love the open ear style headphones and this pair really hit the mark. Jlab really delivers here with a comfortable, speak, excellent sounding pair of headphones that make for the perfect pair of open ear headphones.
The sound quality on these headphones is great. It’s clear and plenty loud. Even with the open ear style I was able to hear the music while mowing the yard. I don’t think you’ll have any complaints on the sound quality here.
The fit and feel is both high quality and extremely comfortable. I am able to wear these for several hours without any discomfort. The part that wraps around your ear is a pretty soft rubber material that hugs your ear firmly. There isn’t any way to really adjust the headphones so I could see these may not work for all ear shapes.
Battery life is excellent it last for several hours and even more in the case. The case even has wireless charging that makes charging super easy.
Overall these are the best open ear headphones offering a great fit, great sound quality and excellent battery life. You can’t go wrong here

I really like these JLab OpenSport Earbuds. To give some context, I am a huge music fan so the quality of earbuds is extremely important to me.
With that being said, the startup of the earbuds was super simple. These earbuds paired with my phone quicky and easily, and connect immediately each time I use them.
As an active person, being able to wear my earbuds on the go is also totally essential. With the JLab OpenSport Earbuds this feature is easily accessible. With the over-the-ear design it is especially nice when going on a walk, run, or going to the gym. They stay securely in place and are very comfortable all while not having to worry about sweat damaging the earbuds.
They are also nice because I like to hear what is going on around me while going on walks and runs so that I feel like I have awareness of my surroundings.
Sound is great, the volume controls are easy to use, and the battery life has been good so far as well.
All around, these are a top notch set of earbuds. I will certainly be putting them to good use!

A wonderful alternative

I recently had the opportunity to try out the new JLAB Epic Open Sport over the ear outer earbuds. I think these totally deliver on all fronts and are a nice alternative to inner earbuds or headphones.
Out of the box, the build quality of the Epic Open Sport is impressive. They are well crafted and clearly made to last. The battery life is phenomenal, and I’ve only had to charge them a handful of times with regular use. The open ear awareness design is both a strength and a limitation. It’s great for staying connected to your surroundings, which is the point, but this also means that in noisy environments, like when mowing the lawn, the sound gets almost completely drowned out. I could barely hear them at all during that activity and wouldn’t recommend them for that use. I think I could hear them while weed eating, but honestly, that’s not their intended purpose. Where these earbuds truly shine is during workouts. At the gym, while running or doing bodyweight exercises, they’re my go-to. They stay secure and comfortable through constant movements, something I struggle to find in most earbuds. I’m not a fan of full size headphones, especially in the Texas heat, so these are a perfect lightweight alternative. Odd as it sounds, it feels like my ears appreciate the open ear comfort because they’re breathable, and my eardrums don’t feel boxed in. Initially, I noticed a bit of rubbing from the over ear band, which was distracting and had me worried. But by the end of my first workout, it had faded into the background and hasn’t bothered me since. One drawback is the connectivity. It’s functional, but when paired with my iPhone, the connection doesn’t always feel seamless or dominant. For example, if you are listening to music and a call comes in, the earbuds are not always the first choice for your phone. Then you say hello and look for the Bluetooth selector like a goof. I am sure this has nothing to do with JLAB, but definitely some room for improvement on their part.
I always try to give honest reviews while keeping in mind the value the manufacturer is aiming at delivering. I’ve used several other JLAB products and have rated most of them five stars I know the level of performance they typically bring. With the Epic Open Sport, JLAB didn’t miss. I’m very satisfied and now use them daily. That said, I’m not a huge fan of the entry price point. In my opinion, catching them on sale puts the value more in line with what they offer. Still, they’re a high-quality product and serve their intended purpose very well.
