When I first got the headset, they were fully charged then the battery died because I used them for an eight hour period. While I used them. They were awesome. I could not charge them afterwards. I called the helpdesk and the only option she could give me instead of troubleshooting was to send out a new battery at no cost. The headset was only two days old. I didn't want that. I just take it back so then I emailed them. They told me to take a picture of my receipt to go ahead and throw out the item and send them a picture of me destroying it And they would give me a full refund. Why would I do that when I could just take it back to the store. All I wanted is some guidance and troubleshooting. It was a very simple.

Great for office… or gaming.

These are great headphones for use at the office. But they should be suitable for any use case where you need comfortable and good sounding headphones. The ear cups are actually relatively small. Normally, I would worry that headphones with such small ear cups would be uncomfortable, but these were great. The cushions are both thick and soft, and I had no problem wearing them for a couple of hours straight. This is a hard feat given that I have large ears and wear glasses. I was honestly surprised at how I could wear these for a relatively long time with no problems. Listening to music presented a nice neutral tone that I would best describe as “pleasing,” but I am no audiophile, so people with more discerning ears might have different opinions. The noise cancelling did a good job of removing the sound of the air conditioning in my cube. But these are intended for the office, so using them at a Webex meeting was a good test. Since I work in a cube farm, I get to hear my coworkers talking in the next cube over, and then hear it again through the computer. The noise cancelling did a pretty good job of removing the voices next door so that it was not overly distracting. There is a drop-down microphone that mutes when the mic is lifted up, which is a very nice touch, and is much easier than trying to control the mute using a mouse. There is a nice charging stand that also holds the wireless dongle. Tapping the button on the right ear cup controls the noise cancelling, with the usual “On,” “Off,” and “Let me hear what is happening around me” settings. At the bottom are the volume and power buttons. Overall, the headphones feel solid and use quality materials. These headphones also have an understated and “plain” look that I appreciate. If I used headphones at home, I would happily use these for gaming too. Of course, they completely lack the tacky RGB lighting and strange angles and hexagons everywhere, but that is actually a bonus to me, since I find that sort of “gamer” look to be hideous. If you don’t want to use the dongle, there is also the option of using a BlueTooth connection, so you get maximum flexibility.
But these headphones do have three annoying flaws that are not deal-breakers, but are kind of stupid. The first is that these are USB-C headphones. While I appreciate USB-C and feel that it is the future, laptops often have a limited number of USB-C ports, docking stations often have few or no type C ports, and desktops often have more type A ports. While I love USB-C, there should have been a USB-A to USB-C adapter in the box so that this can work with ANY computer or docking station that you happen to have. This does work well with generic USB-A to USB-C cables, it would have been nice to not have to scrounge up your own adapter or cable at this price. The other stupid annoyance is that the included USB-C dongle is WIDE. If I wanted to travel with this, I would not want to take the charging dock with me. The issue is that the dongle is wide enough to block access to neighboring USB ports. This is not an issue when using the charging dock, but could be a factor for portable use. The final minor annoyance is that this can be connected via USB or BlueTooth, but not both at the same time. It does feature dual connections, but only to two BlueTooth devices. If you use the dongle, BlueTooth is turned off entirely. I sometimes like to use my headphones to listen to music or media on my phone, and then switch over to my computer. The only way to accomplish this is to unplug the dongle and use the dual BlueTooth connections to pair my phone and laptop. This is an acceptable solution, but not quite ideal.
But despite the few flaws, these are great sounding and comfortable headphones that I am glad to have at my desk.

JLab - Epic Work ANC Wireless On-Ear Headset

TL;DR:
1. SETUP: It was easy to install on my laptops and phone
2. USE: They are straight forward and works well
3. USABILITY: They make working from my home office easier than with a wired headset
4. OVERALL: They integrate and work well, look good, and are comfortable
I have used various wired on-ear wired headsets and various brands of in-ear earbuds. This is the first on-ear wireless headset I’ve tried. Some of the wired headsets are better than others in terms of sound quality, noise cancellation, and comfort. The biggest issue with them is that I always would get tangled or attached by the wire, so I never preferred them. The in-ear earbuds each have their own pros and cons with their design, functionality, comfort, battery life, and integration. I definitely have my favorite earbud. It’s nice I can swap the right one for the left one and vice versa, always keeping one ear open. The biggest drawback with the in-ear versions versus the on-ear is air circulation, which can cause irritation or infection - or like with me, just some annoyance during allergy seasons.
What initially attracted me to these JLab’s were:
1. Their attractive design - they look and are comfortable
2. Relatively low price point - fair price for a well known brand and with the features like ANC, the docking station, and battery life
3. Active Noise Cancellation - a need with working from home or in an office setting
4. Brand reputation - JLab had a good reputation and has been around for a long time
5. The docking station - I like having things like these, especially for its functionality and organization on my desk
They look good and are comfortable. I don’t wear glasses, but with their wider design, I don’t think that would be an issue. They fit well and are stable. They don’t really move from where I put them. I prefer using them wirelessly, but they include a wire, so it’s your choice.
After the initial set up, which was easy, the connection has been stable. It integrates well with my MacBook Pro, Chromebook, and iPhone. I work from home and can easily walk through my house without the connection dropping. The noise cancellation works well throughout the house. The people on the call can’t hear when my pets are making noise or when I go to the front door for a package, etc. If I need to mute the call, I just need to flip up the boom mic. To unmute and speak, I push the mic back down. Very simple and intuitive. If you want to listen to music, you can customize the sound with the equalizer within the JLab app.
The 2-in-1 docking system is great and functional. When I take them off, I automatically put them into the charging hub. I have not had any issues with battery life.
I definitely recommend these for office use…and even for listening to music or watching a video or movie.

These are really comfortable daily use headphones for productivity. Good airflow keeps you from having sweaty ears over hours of use. Excellent for podcasts and music, the active noise cancelling keeps the clucking of your coworkers suppressed so you can focus on the tasks at hand. Microphone is pretty clear, with no popping or dropping of consonants. Pairing is super simple, and doesn't drop out randomly like cheaper headphones. Build quality is decent, and these feel like something you can comfortably use during a daily 9-5 job without fearing they will fall apart in 6 months. Thankfully, these are office friendly, with no flashing rainbow RGB lights or gaudy colors. Just a very professional look and emphasis on comfort over trendiness. These are also rather compact, so they will easily fit in a backpack or purse for simple transport. Includes a 2-in-1 docking station. Keeps everything contained and tidy. Jlab app allows you to fine tune the headphones to meet your acoustic needs. Definitely a great product.

Delivery was fast. Sturdy construction. Comfortable to wear for long periods of time for work purposes, however, maybe its just me and my size head, but they do not stay on very well during short quick jerky movements (like flipping one's hair back). Battery Life: I found personally that almost all of the manufacturer's statistics were off. Yes it does fully charge in just 3 hours, but the 10 minute fast charge gives it just another half an hour to hour at best, not the 3 more hours that it claims. Calls were about a solid 10 to 12 hours of solid two-way calls, not the 30 hours that are claimed. Likewise, "Casual Listening" is not 90 hours as claimed but rather a more realistic 14 to 18 hours depending upon whether its movies versus music (music lasting the least time). Sound quality is pretty good for a on the ear head set at this price point. The Noise Canceling capabilities are likewise just basically OKAY for the price point but could be a lot better. General Microphone sound quality isn't too bad but it definitely changes how your voice sounds as compared to the higher quality accurate voice reproduction one tends to get with higher price point devices like the similar Plantronics on ear headset that cost more than double the price of this headset. A major plus that this headset possesses it it ability to continue to be used while it is plugged in recharging whereas the more expensive Plantronics cannot do that. The charging cradle is not too sturdy and the headset falls off of it if bumped and or brushed up against, but if pugged in the connection is good and the device can be worn and used while charging with confidence. It was only the lesser voice reproduction qualities that stopped me from rating this device 5 out of 5 stars and only gave it 4 stars. I would definitely recommend this device to friends and family or any small business owner needing to find an economical choice of a headset when buying a half a dozen to a couple of dozen headsets are required. I got this device as a backup for my regular headset and for that purpose it is absolutely perfect.

Open office concept lifesaver

This is my first headset from JEL and I was super impressed with the features and functionality.
My office recently switched to an open concept office and I've been exploring different headsets for focus from most of the big players. One issue I consistently have is issues with pairing and bluetooth connection, particularly from switching from back and forth from in person and my work from home set up. Even if my devices are working, I have to constantly check with test calls before each call to ensure that there hasn't been a bluetooth issue. The simple feature of having an option to use USB capability is a game changer, this headset has paired flawlessly. The headphones also have a bluetooth feature but plugging directly in has been a lifesaver when it comes to being able to trust that they'll work reliably.
The noise cancelation features are excellent. You're able to switch back and forth between different modes depending one whether you want complete These work great in an open office or anywhere where you need to drown out the noise
Another really useful feature is that you can flip the mike up to mute your line during a call. As I'm often working with multiple screens this is a faster way to silence the background if a dog starts barking, or a child starts crying. Really though, the noise cancelation is so good that this isn't an issue.
This headset is also pretty comfortable, definitely for short term sessions. I tend to find that all headsets and headphones hurt my ears after about two hours and for me, these are no exception. However, this seems to be the reality with good noise cancelation and with the added functionality these are definitely my go to.

This headset deserves 10 stars. I have used a lot of different headsets while working as I took phone calls for 8 hours a day and now while working from home. I've used many different styles and brands from wired to wireless and usually can find an issue with each one of them. I don't have a single complaint with this headset. I actually had someone stop a meeting I was in recently to ask what headset I was using because they wanted to know what headset I was using that sounded so clear. I love the flip down mic to easily mute and unmute if you aren't the person speaking for the duration of the call. I can hear everyone very clearly and the noise cancelling works very well. It's very easy to switch between the noise cancelling and the hear through setting by pressing the branded button the right headphone if you do need to hear some of the noise around you. This headset is solidly built and the materials feel nice. I can say this is the only headset I've owned that has been genuinely comfortable for wearing for an entire shift without getting a sore head or ears or having to adjust it constantly so it feels like it's not bothering you.

If you work in a busy office or home office, the JLAB Epic Work ANC Wireless Headset is just what you need to take your calls and meetings to the next level.
In the box you get the headset, charging dock with an additional USB-C port to make up for the port the charging base takes up, a USB-C Dongle which is already plugged into the extra port in the charging base (there is also a dummy port for storage if you’re not using the dongle), and a really nice braided USB-C cable to connect everything.
Connecting the Epic Works couldn’t be easier and more importantly, you have options. The fastest, easiest connection is to plug in the charging dock (with the dongle already in place) into your PC or laptop and power on the headset. The dongle comes hard paired to the headset. You can bypass the charging dock and just plug the dongle directly into your device; however, on my Macbook Pro (and most Macbooks) the width of the dongle covers both USB-C ports.
Next, you can connect via Bluetooth to any capable device. There is Bluetooth multipoint connectivity so you can connect to two devices, (my iPad and work laptop) to get through the day. It is important to know that connecting this headset to multiple devices requires you to use Bluetooth only. Using the USB-C dongle can not be one of the two connections. When the dongle is connected, it takes precedence.
The third and final way is to simply plug them in. The Epic Work’s also work directly connected if needed, or if your battery starts to die during a long conversation.
With the connection out of the way, the next thing to do is download the Epic app. This can get a little confusing since there is both a JLab Work App and a regular JLab App. Even though these are part of the “Work” line, they are not yet configured as part of the Work app. The other issue I have with the app is you need to connect the headset to a phone to configure them with the app, and this is something you will definitely want to do. I have not found a JLab App for desktop for any OS.
I don't know about you but when I think about a work product, I generally think bare-bones and stripped down. The Epic Work headset is anything but. This headset sounds amazing. Listening to music - the bass is deep and thumping, the mids are clean with a nice sound stage and the highs are crisp. When talking on the phone or in Teams calls, the other side was able to hear me without issue, background noises were all but eliminated with out my voice sounding choppy or mechanical, and all they hear is your voice. I love that through the app you can control the volume of the sidetone or what JLab calls “Hear Yourself”. The noise canceling microphone swings up and down - flip it down to answer calls, flip it up to mute the call. The only thing missing is a prominent “in use” light which comes in handy when using the headset in an office setting to alert folks that you are on a call or in a meeting. This in my opinion is a big miss.
The app provides an equalizer which has two presets, one for music and one for voice as well as a custom setting so you can further personalize your sounds. You also get ANC noise canceling which worked well blocking outside sounds as well as “Be Aware” mode or hearthrough, which worked surprisingly well when listening at lower volumes. There is also a tab in the app that lets you configure background sounds like rain, forests etc.
The Work ANC headset has the usual complement of buttons with convoluted button press combinations, power/pair, volume up & down which also controls the music track and the large JLab button on the microphone side which controls the noise canceling features and cycles through the options.
The Work ANC has amazing battery life and has a 10 minute charge to get an additional 10 hours of use. Charging can be done by simply setting the headset back in the charging dock or plugging the headset in directly.
I give the JLab Epic Work ANC Wireless Headset four stars, deducting one star for the lack of an in use light and no desktop way to configure it. Otherwise, this is an excellent headset at a great price. I highly recommend it for anyone working from home or needing a bit more privacy on calls at the office.

Inconsistent Bluetooth Connection
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
At work, I need to have a reliable set of headphones that will work consistently every single time. I was disappointed that this headset did not provide that to me.
Setup
The Bluetooth would not connect until I removed all of my Bluetooth devices from my laptop. If you run into issues connecting it to your computer, that is the troubleshooting involved. Remove all your Bluetooth devices. It worked, but it was cumbersome and annoying. Upon my first attempt to connect the headset, I discovered I needed to remove devices. I didn't have time to do that on a busy work day so I removed the device and assumed everything else would work as it normally does until I had time to invest in setting the device. That was not the case. It disrupted all of my Bluetooth devices. I spent the day room-hopping in the office so I could use my laptop speaker because my primary Bluetooth headset would no longer connect and remain connected. I had to go through and remove all Bluetooth devices before my original devices would work again after re-installing. Of course, I then had to do that again when I finally had a chance to suffer through installing the JLab Epic Work headset.
Connect
The USB connection for the base is USB-C so be sure that your laptop has at least 1 of that type of port. This is a challenge for me because the device I use to connect my other screens uses that Single USB-C port. As a result, I can't connect the USB device or the base directly to my laptop for my use. Instead, I have to use a plug to connect the base for power to charge. I am not sure why, but the base cannot be plugged into an outlet while I am using the headset on Bluetooth alone. Every time I do, the headset is disconnected from my laptop and I am unable to reconnect the headset until I unplug the base.
Bluetooth
From my experience, this has been unreliable as mentioned above with the connection. It was a struggle to get the device set up on Bluetooth alone and it did not work consistently.
Controls
The controls are pretty standard but worked fine.
Audio Quality
The headset itself works well. The quality of the audio and voice quality on the headset are good. I was also happy with the noise-canceling feature as I could focus despite the noise going on around me.
If you plan to connect the headset and have the ports available to you to do that, this product might work fine for you. For me, I expect headsets today to effortlessly connect to my laptop without many steps to get myself connected every time I go to use the device. I work both remotely and in an office, so I need the flexibility to plug/un-plug and move my devices so this product just didn't offer me a great experience.
Overall, I would not recommend the product. When it comes to headsets, especially for work, I need it to be super easy. I do not have time to fight with a headset or learn all of its little idiosyncrasies to use it successfully. Being late to meetings and dropping audio while I'm hosting meetings just isn't acceptable and with this device, I don't have confidence that it won't continue to prove challenging when I switch locations.

The most comfortable work headphones ever. This headset make it easy to have your hands free as you talk on your phone.
Most important, the sound quality is great, both on your end, and the callers, especially if you’re in a noisy environment. Turning on ‘noise cancellation’ is as good as any noise cancelling headphones I’ve ever used, and it also cuts that background sound to your callers. If you have dogs, or other loud noises, it’s truly amazing how they disappear, giving your call a more professional environment, especially if you are using this for business.
Many cool features are available. When you place the phones back in the docking station, the power turns off automatically and you can see that charging is beginning; there’s a red LED that lights on both the headphones and the docking station. When you remove the headset from the dock, the headset power turns on and Bluetooth connection is automatically made to your device. No input from you is needed.
You can select from “music” or “voice” settings depending on what you’re listening to, and if you install the JLab app on your phone, you can customize the equalization settings to your taste. The app makes it easier to adjust other settings as well, such as “noise cancellation’ on or off, and you can customize other setting with the app to your liking as well, as well as firmware updating.
A hint I found is to make sure you have the “HEAR YOURSELF” setting turned ON when making or receiving calls. Otherwise with the earpieces covering both ears, you’ll not hear yourself at all, this might cause you to speak louder than you normally would, and your call might not feel as natural as you’d like.
Bottom line, especially if you have a headset you use now at work, and it’s not comfortable or doesn’t have noise cancellation, purchasing this JLab Work headset would be a nice and affordable upgrade for your work day.
