    Value ANC Headphones from JLAB

JLAB is a newer brand to me, and I also own a few pair of their headphones designed for computer / virtual meeting use. Those work well, and I noticed during testing of these headphones that there are a number of similarities. I also own headphones made by the company that starts with a B for traveling and those are the gold standard for noise cancelling. These headphones do a valiant job for the price point. One thing that has started to become standard with modern headphones is the need for an app. In some cases the app does nothing, or merely updates firmware. In the case of these JLabs ANC headphones, the app also controls the EQ and noise cancelling settings. Those two functions make this app useful for me, and not a throw away. The fit is nice, however be aware of the size of the ear cups, for your anatomy. I find the noise cancelling to be almost identical to that of my JLAB head-set. It's effective in non-crowded or noisy areas, but then it starts to drop off. I never use the aware mode, as I struggle to find any utility in it. I also wasn't able to get these to connect wired for some reason when the battery went dead, but they charged up again so quickly I was able to get back to using the again. Battery life in my short time using seems to match what's reported. Overall these are well positioned in the budget Noise Cancelling range. I would recommend for someone interested in getting ANC, but doesn't have a Sony or Bose budget. These feel like they stack up against offerings from Anker and other similar brands, and perform well amongst them.

Whether I am working out, doing yardwork, chores around the house, or relaxing with a good book or music, I like on ear headphones. The in-ear style just don’t work well for me. There may be occasions when I’m wearing these for hours at a time. Comfort and quality are an absolute must. I found these to be VERY comfortable even when worn for extended periods. The ear pads are soft and the headband has the right amount of pressure to keep them secure. I didn’t find them to get hot after a long period of wearing them. The sound quality exceeded my expectations for this price. Bass notes come through without being booming. The high notes are reproduced faithfully, without sounding tinny. Overall these are very pleasant to listen to. My listening habits span the range of classical to rock, podcasts and audio books. The noise cancelling worked fairly well, handling most annoying distractions. The build quality and usability are very good. It was easy to pair these with my MP3 player, phone, tablet and TV. The Bluetooth range covered my house and yard with no dropouts. Keep in mind these are on-ear, not cups that enclose your ear. That does keep them lighter and allows for better air circulation. For an average size head, they fit really well. Overall, you can’t go wrong with these at this price. They perform great without breaking the bank.

    Amazing ANC (Active Noise Cancelling)

Amazing ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) despite it not being over ear type headphones. The audio quality is great when playing video games, speaking with others, and listening to music. Bluetooth is reliable on game systems and mobile devices and the Desktop needs Swift Pair to stay connected without interruption. I liked that the charge can last for more than two 2 days depending on whether Active Noise Cancelling is on or not. You are able to locate the device by using Google Find Hud if you are unable to locate your headphones. The Custom EQ (Equalization) makes it so you can adjust your preferred audio experience. Overall, I liked the quality of the headphones and would recommend to others to use, if these qualities are what your currently looking for. So now to my pros and cons. Pro: Ability to locate headphones Customization of sound Can last longer than two days without recharging Ability to sync with mobile devices and desktop Cons: Don't see any at this time. Thank you for allowing me to test them.

The JLab Go Lux Wireless headphones with Hybrid Active Noise Cancelation, also comes with a battery that has up to 70 hours of playtime or 40 hours with Hybrid Active Noise Cancelation on. There also is Bluetooth Multipoint that allows you to connect to two devices at once. While listening to audio you can also hear your phone. Also available is Labshare that allows you to share with another person wearing headphones wirelessly. You both can hear the same audio stream. To fully customize the headphones, you will have to download and register on the JLab app. Both earpieces are folded into the headband making for a small footprint for storage. Each earpiece has an inch and a quarter adjustability. As with most headphones you can also adjust your device by pushing on the buttons on the right side. Charging the headphones is completed by plugging in the provided USB Type C to USB Type C cable. This fast-charging cable provides 4 hours of playback after 10 minutes of charging. Leading the way there is also a 2-year warranty. Hooking up to android devices is completed by Google Fast Pair or with windows devices via Swift Pair.

The JLAB Go Lux headphones are a very good pair of wireless headphones. In the box you will find the headphones, a usb-c to usb-c charging cable, and a quick start guide. The headphones feature hybrid active noise cancellation, customizable eq, bluetooth multipoint to connect to up to 2 devices, and easy connect to windows pc and android. The headphones feel nice upon first touch. They have plenty of soft padding on the ears and headband. You can see the headband is made of metal rather than plastic, which makes me feel pretty optimistic about the longevity of these phones. Fit was a bit tight for me, but I have a slightly larger than average head. These are also on-ear headphones, which I personally don't care for. they fit flat on your ears rather than around the ears, so for me, they put a little too much pressure on my ears. But again, large head. Sound quality was actually quite a bit better than I was expecting at this price point. I was thoroughly impressed. If you want to customtize the sound, you'll have to download the JLAB app. I didn't do this simply because I already have enough apps on my phone and the default sound was pretty good in my opinion. But it's nice to have to option there if I ever want to try it out. Overall, I am very happy with these headphones. While they fit a bit snug on my head and ears, they are still pretty comfortable and have nice sound. They also feel very well made and seem like they will hold up to lots of use.

The first thing you'll notice is how soft and plush the earpads and headband cushion feel. These make for a very comfortable headphone if you are okay with the "on ear" style as opposed to "over ear". The JLabs feel like they are pretty well constructed while still being relatively lightweight. This lightness paired with the earpads allow for long listening sessions with little to no hotspots. The sound quality will likely appeal to a large audience as they are on the bassier side and sport plenty of volume. While I do usually like extra bass, I did find myself turning down the bass with the EQ to tighten up the response and clean up some of the muddiness. ANC performs surprisingly well given the price point. In situations like a airplane or train you may need to listen at slightly louder volumes than normal to completely block out the background drone. In most standard environments it provides ample isolation. Passthrough is really the only semi shortfall. It is an available feature but it provides minimal amplification compared to when it is off. Mic quality is acceptable and does compress your voice quite a bit but in exchange it does a good job blocking background noise.

Great budget audio but too many flaws

When I initially tested these out, I was extremely excited with the sound quality, the active noise cancelling feature, and the app customization. However, after further review, I found some gripes. First, the positive- with these being my first ANC headphones, I liked how it blocked out virtually all noise around me. With the press of a button, you can switch this feature on and off quickly. For a low price point, the sound quality is great. There are a few settings on the app that allow for tweaking and improving based on the type of audio that you are currently listening to. Unfortunately, there are quite a bit of negative points that dampened my experience. The ‘cloud foam earcups’ sit right on the ear and caused some irritability and discomfort after long use. The two-way Bluetooth feature would randomly disconnect/reconnect. I had to make sure only one item was connected at a time to avoid this malfunction. The app has two audio settings- music or movies. ‘Music’ has a >200ms latency and ‘movies’ has a <200ms latency. Either option is fine when listening to music, but there is a noticeable delay when watching movies or playing games when it is set to ‘music’. Every time I turned on the headset, I would have to go to the app to switch it to ‘movies’ mode when I was playing games/watching TV. It never stayed on that setting and it is annoying to have to go through those steps every time. I also realized that if you walk around, you hear the constant thud of your footsteps booming in your ears. This completely takes you out of the experience. I wanted to love these headphones, but they just aren’t for me. If you plan to only listen to music and won’t be moving around much (plane, train, couch, etc.) and want to drown out the hustle/bustle of others, then that is when I would recommend these.
