These have to be the cutest wireless gaming headphones ever! Awesome design! The JLAB JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset are a child sized pair of wireless headphones, with an additional wired connection for gaming on the go. I have a 9 year old, and these headphones fit his head perfectly. He wears them for hours at a time, without any issues with comfort or distress. They are very comfortable, in fact, in his words, "these headphones get five stars from me!" They are compatible with XBOX, Playstation, Nintendo, iPhone, Android, Mac and PC computers. Incredibly versatile, bluetooth operation with optional 3.5mm jack connection. We tested them on a Nintendo Switch, and an iPhone 8. With a 22 hour+ playtime from a 3 hour charge, and a 10 min rapid charge netting another hour of gaming, you are able to be on the go for a good long while. My son uses the headphones each day on his drive to and from school, and has been known to leave them 'on' in the car, all day, and they are still ready to go for the drive home. Standby time is 400 hours, hence leaving them on isn't an issue here! The bright blue charging cord is great, so you don't get it mixed up with all of your other cords, matches the button accents on the headphones, and the AUX cable, with the adjustable volume controller when when you are wired to your gaming device. For piece of mind, these headphones are 'volume safe' meaning that they have a built-in volume regulator that limits the volume so it will never go past 85db, protecting your child's ears. And talking of ears, the design on the ear cups with a nod to gaming consoles, buttons and icons, that goes up and over the inside of the headband give these a unique aesthetic. Very cool! There is a retractible boom mic, that discretely hides away into the ear cup, a quick pull and there it is, and you are chatting with your friends online. There is a mute button, press the JLAB logo in the center of the right ear cup, if you need to cancel other gamers or chat to your mom! In our experience, there was zero latency between speaking and hearing, the sound was crystal clear and never had any problems. Very impressive in such a small size. The boom mic and mute button work whether the headphones are being used in wireless OR wired mode, which is a great feature, however the volume buttons on the ear cup only work in bluetooth mode. If you press and hold the volume up/down buttons at the same time for 1 second, you can switch the audio settings between a 'Gaming' EQ that enhances the vocals and and increases spacial awareness by adjusting the mid-high frequencies. If you press and hold again, you'll hear 2 beeps and you'll be in 'Music' EQ mode, that amplifies the bass, and heightens the vocals for a balanced music listening experience. Don't expect the bass to blow your head off, these are after all, a) geared for kids, and b) geared for gaming. All the controls are on the right hand ear cup, easy to reach and use, no problem for children's fingers. These headphones definitely have a very pleasing sound to them, are easy to pick up and use, and have a great long battery life. What more could a kid ask for!?! Add to that a 2 year warranty and you are good to go!

    Great for Young Gamers

JLabs Audio has done an impressive job providing young gamers with a headset that includes every feature they need to game anywhere and with any device. I personally find great security in knowing that the volume cannot get above 85db (even when the source volume is maxed out along with the headphones (or aux cable) set to max volume). My son will often crank the volume up, so I personally don’t allow him to use any headphones that don’t limit the volume. It is refreshing to know that his ears are safe with the JBuddies. The Bluetooth functionality works well, but my son tends to use the aux cable most of the time so that connection is simple and so that we do not need to worry about battery life. I was disappointed to find that the physical cable connects to the headset via micro USB (both for charging and for the audio connection). For charging, the connection should have been USB-C which is more current and much easier for kids to plug in (as it makes a tighter connection and can be connected in any direction (unlike micro USB)). For audio, the connection should be a standard 3.5 mm jack. Because the Aux cable is Micro USB to 3.5mm, it is not nearly as easy to replace if it becomes damaged - which mine did immediately. (Either my Son or my Dog chewed on the cord which quickly tore. Not the fault of JLabs.) Both earcups fold inward to decrease the size for travel - although they do not come with any travel bag or case. The hinges are thick plastic which seem durable - but, the metal which holds the earcups to the headband could easily bend if they get crushed inside of a backpack, or sat on during travel. Overall, I absolutely recommend this headset for any young kid (although they are able to just barely fit an adult if needed in a pinch). They look stylish, are affordable, easy to use, have a great battery life, and have literally every feature short of Active Noise Cancellation. The boom mic is easy to adjust and is retractable so that it is always ready. If you are looking for headphones or a gaming headset for a younger kid - you absolutely cannot go wrong with the JBuddies. They will work for literally any music or gaming device and they have a fantastic warranty.

Great Technology Flexibility for Kid's Games, etc.

JLab Audio - JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset: The technology agnostic JBuddies are not just a nice gaining accessory for kids. They are easily justified because the flexibility to use across so many different technologies (mobile, phones, game consoles, PC/Macs) adds up to cost savings. Our youngsters are fickle about what game or activity they want to play with this week. I know these are labelled wireless, but our kids' variety of game consoles will work most predictably when we use the cable with the 3.5 mm jack and just plug it in to either the console or the controller. That jack enable the earphones and mic (if your consoles supports it). Even if your device doesn’t support the mic, the earphones still work nicely. You should consider wireless a solution especially for connecting to phones, tablets and computers and game consoles that have Bluetooth. You’ll surely find exceptions. SETUP and PERFORMANCE: What makes these “for kids”? They are sized for a smaller head, really light, comfortable and have a kid-oriented design. We’re easily going to get a few days of use before a charge is needed. And re-chargeable means we won’t be buying batteries weekly. For “plug-in” use, they appear to work without a charge. The earpieces are volume limited, so even on maximum, there’ll be no ringing ears. It seemed to me that the volume limiting was fairly aggressive. If you see your youngster has the volume all the way up, I wouldn’t worry. These are not bass heavy or as detailed like high quality headphones. The microphone is flexible enough to prevent breaking off and the headband is sufficiently robust if a real-world wrestling match breaks out mid-game. Your youngster is not going to let you use them. The AUX Console cord has a 3.5mm 4-contact pin to enable both listening and talking when that is enabled by the game. Our youngsters had no trouble just plugging in and playing their games. They loved the sound and were willing to listen to videos for extended periods. I wanted to explore the sound and connectivity so I took over "after hours." Using my MacBook Pro (and is probably similar to any PC): I tested using a FaceTime call. Both computer and phone calls rely on Bluetooth. Set up your Bluetooth (BT) by pressing that multipurpose round button on the JLab and then opening your BT settings on the Mac. JLab should appear in the SOUND PREFERENCE in both your INPUT and OUTPUT tabs. Select JLab in both tabs. Initiating the FaceTime call got me a picture through my Mac camera and a clear voice on the JBuddies. The caller couldn’t hear me until I unmuted my headset. Make sure the large MUTE button is OUT. I never saw a blue ring (mentioned in instructions), but my mute did work properly. Using my phone or IPad to make a conference call worked the same, but Setup was less fussy. I only needed to ensure I had a Bluetooth connection, and the conference call worked like a charm. Be sure to have the MIC BOOM pulled out as well as the MIC MUTE button out. Game use was just as easy. These are nice sounding headphones, so music, phone calls, and gaming were all very easy to live with. . . clear and balanced tone. My kids could easily use these headphones for music or movies, and for conference calls or gaming, they are perfect. SUMMARY: JLab Audio - JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset offers a nice solution for game play across all our gaming platforms. Keeping sound contained to just the ears of our youngsters makes for a quieter living environment for the rest of us. As noted earlier, the volume limiting should eliminate any risk of hearing damage. As your youngsters explore conference calls or just want to play games on your phone, that’s all possible, too. The youngsters in our family love them.

    ok headset for kids

JLab Audio has come out with a headset for young kids that are getting in to gaming or enjoy listening to music. But does this really fit the bill and is it the right headset for your child? Hopefully this review will help to answer some of those questions. First off out the box your going to get the main headset, usb cable to charge it, 3.5 mm cable and some instructions. First impressions of the headset was that i actually thought it was pretty cool looking. The leather wrap was black and white decorated with some pretty cool gaming designs. At first glance my son, who's 6 yrs old, fell in love with it immediately just based on the design. So jumping right in to it we charged the headset right away which took about an hour. Battery life is long, and i mean LONG, which is a good thing as it will provide hours upon hours of play time in wireless mode. Pairing the unit to a cell phone or laptop was done very easily via bluetooth and required no real effort to complete this task. Getting to work with a ps4, (which is what we tested it against) proved to be a whole another story. But i don't want to get ahead myself. First lets talk about the design. This headset is definitely geared towards the younger crowd. In the picture that i uploaded you can see just how small it is compared to my gaming headset that i use. I have 3 kids with my youngest being 6 and my oldest being 12. It fit my 6 year old perfectly however my 12 year old did not like the fit of the headset as the ear cups were too small and quite honestly it did not look right on her. My age recommendation based on what i saw would be between the ages of 4 and 10 years of age. The audio quality in my opinion was weak however for a young child who really doesn't pay attention to all the highs, lows and mids, this shouldn't be a problem for them. However where i did find a problem was with the safe volume design. JLabs incorporated a volume limiter allowing the headset to not be able to exceed 85 db. While on paper this is a excellent design for kids, when it came to gaming this actually proved to be a problem. Allow me to explain why. So as we went to test this headset i decided to play a game with my son online so we could check voice quality and feedback. Voice quality was very good. I had no issues hearing him and there were no dropouts. However where the issue came in was that he was having a hard time hearing me due to the 85 db limit. I know what your thinking, 85 db is more than enough for sound quality, and you would be right but given the fact that you also have to balance the game audio as well this becomes a balancing act which is hard to achieve. For example we were playing Call of duty and we use our headsets to determine which direction the enemy is coming from. This becomes hard to do in the fact that as you raise your game volume your chat volume declines and vice versa. Also another issue we ran in to was the ps4 would not recognize the headset as a chat input device but would only recognize it as a audio. So what this meant is we could only get sound coming in but we couldn't get any chat coming out. This by far was the biggest issue i had and was the most frustrating one to work around as this would happen every time we turned the ps4 on. The low audio me and my son could of lived with but the constant having to get the ps4 to recognize the headset every time we turned it on ended up causing us to eventually put it aside and not use it for gaming. Here's the bottom line. At the price point that this headset is coming in at i think it is a perfect fit for small kids who plan on doing single player gaming or listening to their kids music. If your child is in to gaming with other friends or family members then you may want to rethink this device. At the end of the day you have to decide based on your child's habits if this is gonna be the right fit for you. For my child this was a hard pass.

This is an ok little pair of wireless headphones for ages 5-8 years old.  For ages 9 to tweens, I’d step up a little and buy a level or two up.    The Jbuddiesplay are perfect for the young child in the backseat of a car watching a movie on a tablet or playing some games on a cell phone or tablet. The wireless feature for the younger kids is nice as they won’t get tangled up and unplugged ect.   I was able to wirelessly (bluetooth) set the headphones up with an iMac, iPad, iPhone and a Windows PC  wirelessly very easily.  I tried to wirelessly connect to a PlayStation 4 but PS4 doesn’t recognize it on their side.  You can still use the headphones when you plug the provided aux cable into the controller.  I also tried to trick the 85db child safety volume setting by manipulating the sound settings on the devices but no luck.  The safety feature worked like a champ.  You will not have to worry about your child turning the volume up to damaging levels. A person would not be disappointed buying these as long as they understood that these are an inexpensive wireless device for young kids and don’t expect true mid to high end gaming headphones.  If the kids dip them in apple sauce or wreck them in a few days, I would not be upset and I would be glad I didn’t spend a ton of money on them!  You can also plug them in like traditional headphones if you forget to charge.

Bottom Line - If you're looking for a wireless headset for your young kid (6-10) to be able to listen to music or watch shows on a device, then this is great. If you are hoping to have your kid use it for gaming, I'd look elsewhere. Note: This is advertised as being for people over the age of 6, but in reality, it’s mostly just for kids. Adults should steer clear as the headset would barely fit. Design - I actually like the design of the headset (I have the black one). The scattered gaming icons makes the headset have a bit of a unique look to it. The retractable mic boom sits nicely in the side of the earpiece and overall the entire look is pretty clean. Music/Videos - Setting this headset up as a Bluetooth device is as simple as any other and anyone with a very basic knowledge will be able to do so with ease. You will then get to enjoy 20+ hours of listening without having to recharge. As for the sound quality, I would describe it as adequate in this area. It's nothing to write home about, but certainly not bad either. Most parents would also enjoy that the sound is limited so that kids will not damage their hearing. Overall for this purpose, this headset is a viable option for young kids. Gaming - The headset really struggled in this aspect for me. My initial test was just as a single player using it for gaming audio. Right out of the gate I noticed the audio was super low. Partly I'm sure because of the decibal limit, however it was coming across lower than when it was used for other things which was odd. You could hear the medium to louder elements of the game, but would have no knowledge of any of the more subtle noises as they were lost entirely (think footsteps). The second element I tested was the mic, and the ability to chat with friends. This went miserably and 3 separate occasions. Any time I partied with a friend, they could hear me loud and clear but the issue that came up every time was whenever one of them would speak their voice would get instantly echoed back to both of us. I tried everything from adjusting settings, to using different controllers, but nothing would change that outcome, making this completely unusable for gaming chat purposes.

I purchased this headset primarily to use with my iphone. I connected it easily to my phone via bluetooth. Volume was great and people could easily hear me on the phone. If I had one thing to do with this headset, I would make it a little bigger to fit over my ears more comfortably. It's light and doesn't feel heavy after being on for awhile. Material is plastic, but for the price, it works for me.

These headphones have great sound quality, and bass and treble are good. They also dont get too loud which is perfect for kids. However, the quality of the hardware is disappointing. The charging port on the side is iffy. And, in less than one year of usage, the push botton control that turns it on and off got stuck and there is no way to fix without replacing the inside circuit.

Fits children well with soft ear pieces. It was easy to connect bluetooth to many devices. We like how the mic boom comes in/out. We purchased two of these and both kids are happy. Would be nice if the volume turned up a bit more. We understand that its safer for children, however in louder outside environments, they volume tops out and the kids are complaining. Its been two months of use and one set has an issue with the down volume side of the button. We are not able to turn the volume down with the headset. We are going to warranty service, fingers crossed.

Nice headphones for price. Use for virtual class. Good sound quality. Easy to use. Only issue I have is the size if earpiece isn’t big enough. Kindergartener uses & can’t keep them in very long at all because it’s just too small. I would purchase brand again but but going to have to hand these down & get some with larger earpiece. I wouldn’t say they have a big head but in my opinion these are for a petite child & under age 5. As far as size goes. Disappointed in that as they are suppose to be for children even older than 6.
