Great earbuds for gaming and everyday use

    Pros mentioned:
Features, For gaming, Listening to music

The JLAB Jbuds Air Play Gaming Earbuds are a great compact set of headphones meant for being compact, but still getting great audio for gaming and general usage. Right out of the box these headphones were able to bluetooth pair up with my Apple iPhone XR. The earbuds have a lot of little creative touch features built into them and it takes some time to learn and get used to. The box and instruction booklet included are very helpful to learn this, so be sure to read it over. Right off the bat you will notice that this is a competitor to the ever so popular Apple Airpods. The thing with these is that they offer a much more affordable price point for a similar product. I like the form and function of them, but I'm not 100% sold on the fit for my ear shape. The main purpose of these headphones is to provide a gaming capable headphone without the bulk of the headset style. These are great for having a "gaming mode" and a "music mode" which can easily be alternated between the tap on a headphone. Gaming allows for that precision audio to hear the opponent's footsteps or nearby explosions for instance. Low latency means that you don't get that delay and can still be competitive in your game no matter what it may be. I also like using these for more than just the gaming aspect of their design. Making phone calls on these has been nice as they have the built in microphone to pair with my phone clearly and for a good range of distance. I can use the headphones together or independently which is nice when I want to be lowkey with my headphone usage. There are various Equalizer sounds built into these and you can cycle through them easily with taps on the headphones. Offered EQ options are JLAB Signature, Balanced, and Bass Boost. None of these will blow you away with sound quality, but you can try out the best one for your particular needs. There is also the BeAware feature that allows you to not be so isolated that you miss out on surrounding sounds. Great to offer this safety feature for those that need to be alert, and this can be turned on/off as you desire. If you have a bluetooth device these headphones will work perfectly. I've paired them with my iPad, Windows laptop, and iPhone so far and have not been disappointed so far. The battery life is stated at 30+ hours and I can vouch for the longevity since I carry my JLAB charging case along with me in my car/bag/jacket/pants. The case is nice and compact and includes a USB attached cable to be able to charge the case up on the go. The earbuds fit into the case snug and charge for the next usage. The case is designed well and helps to stand apart from competitor cases. There are designs and fun logos meant for a gamer lifestyle. The earbuds themselves are a great compact fit and include 4 styles of eartips to fit accordingly into your ear. I have tried them all so far, and haven't been completely content with the design/fit. The blue ear tips seem to be the best for my needs as they are a cloud foam memory foam type material to fit. Even so, I have these earbuds fall out of my ears repeatedly. Sometimes I'll be doing a phone call and have to continually adjust them and jam them into my ears. Other times I'll be walking around the house and feel one earbud coming loose in the ear and pop out and fall to the ground. I wish they offered a better ear hook design to cradle into my ear a little better. PRO: Similar to Airpods for a lesser cost Great Bluetooth connectivity and range Good options to use touch to control the earbuds Nice upscale look for form and finish CON: Lacking the right fit for my ear

Tons of value for the money

One of my personal favorite features these earbuds offer is that you can use the left one by itself! This feature is such an over looked or missing feature in so many earbuds, even ones costing two to three times what these cost! A lot of earbuds you can only use the right one by itself. With that said, these earbuds offer so much value for the money. Excellent battery life, water resistant, Bluetooth 5.0 ( gives much better range and less connectivity issues), vegan leather case and a never left behind built in charging cable. In terms of sound they’re excellent to me, weather I’m gaming, listening to music or taking calls. They have a nice balanced sound with just the right amount of bass. Triple tapping on the left earbud switches the EQ modes. You have JLAB signature, bass boost and balanced. The JLAB signature mode sounded best to me and bass boost second, the balanced mode sounded a little muffled. Playing some COD on my iPad and switching between gaming mode and music mode, I definitely noticed enhancements in terms of footsteps and explosions. Even if you didn’t use gaming mode when gaming, the earbuds still give you great situational awareness. These earbuds offer a lot of value for the money and have features some costing twice as much don’t offer.

    Efficient and Affordable Gaming Earphones

I haven’t used a Jlab product in a long time and decided to give this little guy a try. Inside the box came the usual paperwork( including a 3 month trial to Tidal), the game themed carrying case with an attached charging cable built in, three additional ear tips (two of which are blue and made of foam) and the earbuds which were already nested inside the case. Pairing was effortless and so was pairing to another device. I tested the Jbuds on a Pixel 4 and a Tab S6 and it performed well on both. Using these for music and watching videos were ok and above average earbud performance in my opinion. On Youtube for example there was no noticeable lag and this was across both devices I tested on. The earphones can be used independently of each other which is a big plus in my book, but note each earphone touch capacitive areas have multiple functions based on tapping and holding, so I highly suggest reading the quick start manual to get the uses down. For gaming these work very well, at first I was concerned that was no difference from regular buds because I had noticeable lag when playing COD Mobile but then I switched the Jbuds into gaming mode it drastically improved with very little audio-lag. I personally believe there will always be some audio-lag when using any bluetooth audio device while mobile gaming but maybe there is hope on the horizon. The microphones work well inside in game chat and also when using them for regular phone calls, all parties said my voice game through clearly. Finally, battery life is fantastic. I got about 5+ hours of continuous music playback with volume level set to 70%. The buds also charge very quickly inside the case and I was able to get 4+ more charges before the case was dead. I enjoyed using these earbuds, they fit and perform well (not only in the gaming department), have a great battery life and they come in a neat case, what’s not to like?

Some Caveats, but Work Gaming Audio Syncs Great!

    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
    Features, For gaming, Price

--- SETUP --- Setting up these earbuds was quick and easy. Taking them out of the case, they turned on automatically and a blue light started blinking. My phone’s bluetooth settings found the earbuds and paired with them. --- FEATURES --- The main feature for these earbuds is that there is a sync in audio and video when playing phone video games in game mode. Other features include easy tap multi-function buttons and preset equalizers. They also come in a case that doubles up as a charger extending their battery life to up to 30 hours. --- PERFORMANCE --- When pairing the earbuds to my phone’s bluetooth, at first it didn’t recognize the left earbud. Putting the left earbud back in the case and back out of the case after 3 seconds fixed that. These headphones sound great and the main feature of syncing audio and video in game mode works flawlessly. I tested the earbuds with my favorite game, Clash Royale. Often, with my other bluetooth headsets, I don’t notice that an enemy troop has been placed until after a second after deployment. That one second can be the difference between winning or losing a match. Having synced audio so close to me made me appreciate sounds I didn’t even know that the game had and I was able to react to enemy deployments as I heard them. Lastly, you can use only one earbud if you want to too while the other one stays in the case. --- EXPECTATIONS --- Unfortunately, these are not perfect for everyone. In my case, the earbuds are too thick for my ear holes. Aside from the installed rubber ear tips, the box includes 2 other rubber tips and 1 blue memory-foam like pair of tips. I tried the smallest tip and the memory foam one, but even with the smallest tip, they were uncomfortable to wear. Because of that, they constantly kept falling off from my ears. The multifunction buttons are meant to help keep the earbuds as small as possible, but they are very sensitive to the touch. While adjusting my earbuds, parts of my finger would grace the buttons causing unwanted results such as restarting my podcasts, raising or lowering the volume, or changing from game mode to the other available modes. Since the earbuds never felt fully secured in my ear and actually fell off 4 times while cooking, an activity that I wouldn’t consider strenuous, I ended up touching those buttons more than I would have liked. One final thing that I didn’t like is that there isn’t a way to turn them off. In the included manual, the suggested way to turn them off is to turn off your bluetooth mode on your mobile device or to put them back into the carrying case. You cannot just hold the button to temporarily turn it off without having to take the case out again. Speaking of the case/charger, it is very attractive and has a gaming theme on it, which is pretty to look at. I also appreciate the magnetic cover and easy to read lights that tell you if the earbuds are charging or not. --- VALUE --- The price for the earbuds is fair for what the buds are capable of doing. These are a unique item for phone gamers and one of the few I can think of that will allow you to have low-latency audio while gaming. --- APPROVAL --- I am hesitant to recommend these earbuds to everyone but they do an excellent job at their main feature. Take my recommendation with the caveats I mentioned above in mind. I recommend the JLab Audio earbuds to gamers who spend a lot of time gaming on their phone and want a deeper immersion without having a thick headset on their heads while traveling. Do test them the same day that you buy them to see if they are comfortable to you.

I have used these with both my iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy 8. They paired very easily. I just followed the simple instructions. The sound was very good while talking to others and I have no complaints about background noises. I used these while playing a game on both of my phones and there was no lag and the sound was excellent. Listening to music on these was also really good. One of the features of these is that you can use each ear bud individually if you want, so you can hear the outside world if you need to. The carrying case these ear buds come in, is compact and nicely designed. The charging cord is attached to the case so you don’t lose it. The battery life on these is really good. It is mentioned that they last up to 6 hours. I have only used them for a few hours and they are still going strong. If you are out and about, be sure to have the charging case. Just pop them in and they will charge up again. The price on these is really not that expensive considering what you are getting in wireless ear buds. I highly recommend them. As mentioned in the title, the price is very fair.

Overall, they are okay. The killer for me is that the rubber earpieces have the JLabs logo imprinted on them and they are very uncomfortable in my ear because the raised logo presses into my ear. Why would this be done?????? No other headphones I have ever used have this. It is extremely uncomfortable and distracts from the other great qualities of the product. I can't leave them in for more than a few minutes. I would absolutely not recommend this to anyone at all.

    Good gaming earbuds

    Bass

The JLab Audio - JBuds Air Play Gaming TW Earbuds is latest earbuds from this company. And though this is touted as a gaming headset due to reduced latency, it is really a Bluetooth 5 pair of earbuds so latency is expected to be reduced. Marketing tactics? Maybe so. But then again is it really good for gaming? First the JBuds Air Play Gaming TW earbuds are stored in a charging case which looks like a combination of a gaming and jewelry box. Like other JLab TW earbuds (I have two others), the charging cable is integrated in the case so you don’t need to bring a cable. You do need to find a charger or an outlet that has USB to charge the case. The most notable improvement with this pair of earbuds is that battery life is comparable now with other brands. Each charge of the earbuds has around six hours and an additional 24 hours from the charging case. Compared to other JLab BT earbuds (I have three not TW buds on top of the two I also have), the sound signature is significantly different. Quite often Jlab buds have this boxy overall sound. Bass is pretty decent but somehow the mids and highs are muffled. It’s fine if you’re into heavy bass like hip hop, but if you want clarity look elsewhere. The JBuds Air Playing Gaming buds have better bass and highs thereby offering better clarity but lacks in bass. Also, I am a bit disappointed that the codec is AAC and not the better AptX. Now for gaming, I have downloaded Call of Duty and Asphalt 9 on my Pixel 4 XL. And given that this is a fast phone, I expected some latency like my other BT headsets (most likely 4/4.2). And eventually the JBuds did offer reduced latency and can keep up with the action. Of course, I wasn’t expecting 7.1 like sounds like I was playing in a PC with a high end headset. But then again, we’re talking about TW earbuds here. The JBuds Air Play Gaming headset performs as promised. But for me the lack of bass is somewhat of a downer though battery life is greatly improved. Call quality I must add is greatly improved as it has binaural sound unlike the older JBuds Air which is monoaural. I’d still recommend this for everyone.

    Gaming Sound Boosters!

Well I’ve had my ear buds for a few days now and I’m a big PUBG fan. So having some ear buds that could withstand extended gaming was ideal and what I really enjoyed about these Bluetooth ear buds. The sound quality was as described: crisp, almost no lag, and I could hear the direction shots or steps were coming from. One big downside to these earbuds are the uncomfortable ear tips. I’ve had Jlabs before but these hurt my ear quite a bit. Game chat and then answering calls was super cool because I thought surely the mic quality would be terrible. I took calls on them and people said I sounded so clear and better than my headphones I use for actual calls. So don’t worry about how you’ll sound during gaming! I haven’t tried it on the Stadia but this weekend I get to stay home and spend some serious time logging hours. Best feature for the JLABs is the Bluetooth, long life battery, sound quality, microphones and mobility of them. The case is compact enough to toss in a weekender bag with my stadia and other accessories for my mobile gaming set up.

Build quality is good, but it does sound great!! I like the idea that each earbud is independent and can be used separately. Theses earbuds feature Gaming Mode that provides low latency and clear chatting. Battery seems good, I got 6 hours of use on each earbud. IP55 for waterproofing is a good addition to use on the go outside. Compact design and fit good in pocket.

Great Sound, Low Latency and Awesome Battery Life

    Pros mentioned:
    For gaming, Sound quality

Mobile games are not really known for having the best sound characteristics, however, as cloud gaming is getting better I'm sure the sound will also follow. For the last few days I've been testing the Jbuds Air Play Gaming earbuds on my pixel 4 to see if they live up to their mobile gaming hype.  The first thing I want to point out is the low latency of these earbuds. While playing games or watching videos I noticed no lag whatsoever. This is particularly important when playing FPS games. The stereo sound provided an advantage by making it easier to determine the direction that my competitors were coming from. Also, the buds never lost sync with my phone or with each other.  When it comes to sound quality, they sound good. I would say they sound comparable to some more expensive brands with one caveat. I highly recommend using the blue marshmallow ear tips with these. They are the most comfortable and provide the best sound experience. I noticed that the black ear tips reduced the amount of bass I could hear. The case is awesome. Its small, sturdy, has a USB cable already attached to it and It provided enough charge to last me at least a week of use. With all that being said, when it comes to mobile gaming, these earbuds get my stamp of approval. They are just as good and in some ways are better than more expensive earbuds, especially in the latency department.

    Learn the functions

    Pros mentioned:
    Listening to music

I’ve had a pair of the original Jlab Jbuds and really liked them. The only thing was they felt too small. The new Jlab Jbuds Air Play Gaming Earbuds have a little more size to them as well as the same great audio quality with more features. These are pretty much exactly like the Jlab Jbuds Air Executive earbuds but have the added gaming mode that helps reduce audio latency between visual and sound. This is pretty essential when you are trying to play something like Call of Duty or Fortnite where you want to hear there is someone coming up on you before you are getting shot. Once you open these up, they are easy to connect and instantly start using. The sound quality as mentioned, once you find the right fit, is crystal clear with surprising bass. I personally like the Cloud Foam tips for a tight seal. The thing about these being so small is that all the functions are done by a touch of the earbud. This is where you might want to be sure to read the manual because one tap, double tap, triple tap, tap and hold mean something different on each earbud. The only downside to that is that it is easy to tap the wrong function if adjusting them and some function is limited if only using one bud at a time. But, once you get used to the functions, it is easy to cycle through them or enable/disable the Be Aware mode. The Be Aware mode is nice if you want to be able to hear a little bit of the outside world, like a horn or dog bark, while still listening to your music. As for battery life, the 30+ hours they list is a little variable. I was getting about 5.5 hours per charge from the case and can get 4 charges out of the case before plugging it in. So, that would be 25+ hours total for continuous use with about an hour and a half for each charge of both earbuds. You can extend the use without down time provided you choose to use only one earbud at a time. I also like that the USB charge cable is built in, and reversible, so you can’t lose it and don’t have to worry about flipping it over when plugged in. However, the cable is really short so it will have to hang from whatever you plug it into unless you have a USB-A extension cable. Overall I feel these are quality true wireless earbuds that work great for music, video and gameplay. They have more options than some higher priced earbuds and they have a quality build to them, like the leather bound case, unlike some cheap off-brand ones online.

    Casual Gamer Earbuds

    Noise cancellation

These are not my first JLab Audio earbuds. But they are the first gaming earbuds I’ve tried, specifically slated for use with a mobile device - cell phone and tablet. Right out of the box I was pleasantly surprised. The charging/storage case looks simply awesome! It’s shaped kinda different. Not just square or round or oval. And there are cool gaming graphics printed on its matte exterior. Really gives the case that extra ‘something.’ Plus, the case is small and portable, easily tucked into a purse or backpack, or even your jeans pocket for gaming on-the-go. Now pairing both earbuds to my phone was just a wee bit tricky, at first. But after turning off Bluetooth and starting over, as per what the handy included instructions (read them) explain step-by-step, I got it figured out and we were ready to game! The (standard) simple straightforward controls found in the Quick Start Guide, are easy enough to remember, too. Something which stood out to me was the ability to switch from ‘Music’ to ‘Gaming Mode.’ I did notice the difference in how the sound came through the earbuds. Another feature worth noting is the self-explanatory ‘Be Aware’ which you can turn on or off, depending on how tuned in or out you want to be while gaming or listening to music. While chatting I could hear and be heard just fine. There didn’t appear to be any noticeable delay or lag. And these JLab Audio Gaming Earbuds are super comfortable! I literally could wear them for hours and not experience any of the discomfort I have with other in-your-ear type of audio devices. They stay put in your ears, too, having tried them out while dancing around my house for an hour or so. My only ‘Con’ regarding these earbuds, was that the audio seemed muffled, not crystal clear as advertised. The “clarity” just wasn’t there for me. There was some range of depth, but it didn’t blow me away. The richness of background ‘noises’ and ambient sounds really seemed lacking, which didn’t allow me to be as immersed in my games as I’d have liked. You’re definitely not going to get the same experience as you would from a full-sized headset with these earbuds. So keep that in mind. But they do what they were designed to well enough. As with a couple of the other JLab earbuds I own, there is a short charging cord attached to the case, so you don’t have to worry about losing it or searching for one to use, which is convenient. Just need the USB plug-in. I really do like that feature. And getting back to a full charge took a reasonable amount of time, pretty fast really. The advertised “30+ hours of total playtime” seems accurate. The price is certainly fair for what these are. I just feel there could be a wee bit of improvement with regards to sound quality. Overall though, I can definitely recommend these JLab Audio JBuds Air Play Gaming Earbuds to anyone who enjoys gaming on their mobile device.

For the price, these are amazing value!! Keep in mind they are made specifically for mobile gaming. I tested with Modern Warfare. The separation of sound and the chat feature are perfect for mobile gaming. The only disappointment was the “enhanced bass”. If you already have pricier buds, these are weak on that front. However, the hardware aspect of these trumps many higher line models. For example, you can tell at a glance whether each bud is charged or charging. There are three sets of adapters made from different materials to ensure a good fit. Even the shape of the case is thoughtful. It slides easily into a pocket simply because there are no hard corners. The buds themselves are tiny and black (prevents the white toothbrush look) very comfy. I enjoy using them for MW and spoken audio. Would not use for music unless in a real pinch!

As I have started to play more and more games on my phone, I wanted to get a pair of earbuds for my mobile gaming needs. The JBuds Air Play Gaming True Wireless Earbuds fulfilled that need. The pairing of the earbuds was a cinch with my Apple iPhone 11. This set allows you to Bluetooth connect one or both of the earbuds at a time. Making it easy to go from one to the other dependent on your preference or needs. The other options it provides are the tips for the earbuds. There are three sets of the gel cushions tips, one set of cloud foam tips, and one set of cush fins available. You have 3 different EQ modes to work with. From the Bass Boost, JLab Signature, and finally the balanced mode. The earbuds come in a unique leather case that has an integrated USB charging cable. Allowing for you to have everything you need all in one place. The case also acts as a charger to the earbuds to extend the usage time without having to recharge it right away. Overall I’m very pleased with the quality these earbuds provide at the price point that they are.

They are pretty comfy. Build quality is solid for being plastic. It connects easily and the latency is fantastically nonexistent. Microphone seemed clear and relatively balanced. The built-in cable for the case is a bug feature for this. The touch controls are finicky but manageable. They're simple enough for quick memorization. It's fatal flaw is how quiet they are. At first I thought it might just be my phone. But after trying it across multiple laptops and comparing it to other headphones, it is an unfortunate fact that they are too quiet. Even when the volume is maxed out on any device, it is difficult to hear if there is even a semblance of background. I had to return them because of this.

Hi there, you may find that the sound is better when you try different ear tips, give them a slight twist when placing in your ear, and switch between EQ settings. Don't forget to turn the earbuds up all the way via touch controls. If this doesn't help, please reach out to our customer support team to assist you. -JLab jlabaudio-conv
