Webcams are one of those pieces of tech that can be a bit hard to talk about. Ultimately I don't know anyone who doesn't have something of a love-hate relationship with the things, particularly after endless and awkward Zoom meetings became the norm during the lockdowns. So what can you really say about something like the JBuds Cam, which elects not to try and reinvent the wheel but simply offer everything you need and not much more? Image quality is on the upper edge of what I'd expect from a modern desktop webcam. Images are sharp and motion is clear provided you've got good lighting. If you don't colors do tend to get washed out somewhat, but it should be fine for most use cases. Audio is likewise acceptable. It can't rival a dedicated mic or headset, but you also won't have to worry about being heard and feedback wasn't a significant problem with the right settings. Overall build quality is likewise good. It's certainly on the chunky side and permanently affixed to its monitor clip (which admittedly doesn't have a ton of range to adjust the angle) which comes with a built in screw mount in case you need to set it up on a tripod. Standout features here are the braided USB cable and swappable magnetic faceplate - which lets you use either a dark gray or light gray fabric to better match your home setup. It doesn't have everything you might want. There's no support for Windows Hello, facial tracking, or any kind of auto focus. But it's nonetheless a very solid choice for a cheap, reliable desktop webcam.

When choosing a webcam, there are some basic functions that I look for. First, I look at resolution. While it seems like a higher resolution would be better, it actually makes one's image smaller and I prefer the lesser resolution that this product offers. It portrays a nice image from one to two feet away and the picture isn't the least bit grainy. The second factor is the mounting hardware that it uses to attach to the monitor. This one has a very nice and simple clamping mount that allows for easily changing the angle of view without flopping around. I was able to firmly attach it to my thin monitor and was able to adjust it for an optimal viewing angle. The third factor is the audio quality and I was told that this actually improved the sound from my existing webcam. I tested it with both Microsoft Teams and Zoom and it worked well with both applications. While the product shows it as black, it comes with a while cover as well and it is easy to change from one color to the other. The cover simply attaches magnetically. I chose the white cover to match my sliver summed monitors. Overall, this is a great product and functions extremely well.

This webcam connects seamlessly and no software needs to be downloaded. The connection is plenty long enough to allow placement on a monitor that is not right next to the monitor. The faceplate can easily be removed and replaced with a white one if desired. Video looks great on teams calls and the field of view is wide and clear . The microphones provide crisp sound transmission and do a good job of blocking out a lot of background noise. The monitor clip is easily adjusted and holds the camera firmly in place. The camera can also be tilted up and down and to the side. The only drawback is that it does not include a privacy shield. It is easy to hang something over when it not in use for an extra sense of security. The size is just right to provide all the necessary features without be too slightly on the monitor. It is easy to take off and place back on the monitor if you prefer. I prefer to my laptops built in webcam and will be traveling with it in my laptop bag. It does not take up much room and seems durable enough for taking with you.

Build quality: the build quality is really good. Placed it on my monitor it hooked into place with the clamp self explanatory. No wiggle wobble or weird placement. Sits above the monitor without blocking any part of the screen Quality of video and mic: great quality and great video as a m well as microphone. Use it with typical chat software. Everyone comments on how good it is. Ease of use: Connect it to any open USB port and it starts to come alive. Comes with an extra webcam cover so it looks either dark or light whichever you want to have for a look and feel Highly recommend this webcam. I have used several over the years and this is one of the best i have used. Easy to setup, easy to use, and highly recommend it to anyone needing a good quality webcam with a good quality microphone Very reasonably priced and Seems to be something that will last a long time Easy to adjust angles and to tweak absorbents without any real crazy settings. You can’t go wrong with this device

I've owned and used a few Jlab products now and they are always great value, the JBudsCam is no exception. In the box you get the JBudsCam (connects via a 3 foot braided USB A cable, I love braided cables) and interchangeable faceplates (black, grey). The faceplates fit magnetically and are easy to change, more on that later. I tested the JBudsCam on my Windows laptop and Mac and setup was easy - plug it in, and it worked. No driver prompts, or mandatory software downloads. On that basis alone the JBudCam deserves 5 stars - video quality is solid, at 1080p/30fps on a 2.1MP camera. In my tests, the image was clear and worked well in low light and a well lit office. The microphone is also clear and it didn't pick up echo/feedback when on a Zoom call - although I prefer to use a wireless headset for calls. In terms of sitting on your monitor, the monitor clip/mount worked well on my flat and curved monitors. The camera has a very small amount of tilt, so you can get the perfect angle, the camera also rotates left/right so you can balance it on your monitor and look the other way (not sure why you would). The only reason I deducted a star is I would swap the extra faceplate for a privacy shield. The facebplates are magnetic, and easy enough to switch. But I am actually surprised Jlab didn't include a privacy shield. I would have happily gone without an extra faceplate and had a privacy shield. Otherwise, this is great value and if you're looking for a webcam to upgrade your Zoom/Teams calls in the office, this is a great deal. PS. The JLabCam has a 2 year warranty, which is better than what others offer.

All of us have been using webcams extensively since the pandemic kicked in and made video calls the standard of work from home days. I have run through a few less than stellar options and I keep struggling with getting one that handles changing light conditions without the need for a studio set up. This little JLabs camera is doing the trick quite well, and my coworkers love the sound quality. My first thought upon removing it from the box was that it is very sturdy but also light! It sits easily atop my monitor with no heavy clunk to balance. My only complaint with position is that it does not allow for much downward tilt. So when I’m standing and working, it’s good. But from a sitting position, posture is key! The choice of white or dark grey faceplate is a cute gimmick, but I would find a physical lens cover more useful. Having a mic on either side of the camera definitely pays off. I’ve had several colleagues comment that the sound is crystal clear in meetings. Much better than the built in on my laptop and clearer than the other higher end webcam I use. Overall, for the money, the sound quality and form factor make this cam a solid and attractive choice.

THE BREAKDOWN: This JLab -JBuds Cam Webcam has been released and it is a very capable webcam and microphone to use with any computer. Unboxing and setup: The camera is packed very efficiently, and it includes a quick setup guide. In the box is the webcam with an additional magnetized faceplate and quick start guide. The webcam also has a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. The Webcam: This webcam is super easy to get up and running. It is literally plug and play with no special software needed. This camera has full 1080p video, 2.1 megapixels and 30 frames per second. It also has auto-focus and a wide 93 degrees angle. The webcam has dual built-in microphones which I found to be just average. The webcam has arm/hooks that can attach/hook to just about any monitor out there. The one feature that it is lacking is a way to close/shut the camera lens. PRO’s: - Super Easy to install - 1080p - Dual Microphones - Customizable face plate - Autofocus CON’s: - Microphone is just average - There is no way to close/block the camera SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for product like this.

    Solid, inexpensive Webcam!

Context: I work from home most days & spend LOTS of time on video chats, so I had plenty of opportunities to test the JLab - JBuds Cam Webcam, compare it to my existing webcams (one at my home office & one at the actual office I visit sometimes). For the purposes of testing, I actually just plugged the JLab - JBuds Cam Webcam in my computer and called up others to ask whether they noticed anything different as I switched back & forth between setups. General verdict- little to no difference across the 3 webcams I have. The other two are both a little more expensive, but similar plug & play webcams with video & a microphone. There were a couple times when folks would respond that they thought there were minor differences as I switched, but when pressed, nothing they could put their finger on and/or there was no difference whatsoever as I told them I switched device, but didn't really! So, for a great price, the JLab - JBuds Cam Webcam provides a solid performer that does what you want a webcam to do!! The 4 star review? Simply because it does NOT have a privacy screen of any kind. I think I'm going to keep it in the office (vs my home) because of that, so that won't really be an issue, but it seems like a pretty simple feature that most other webcams have nowadays.

The JLab- JBuds Cam Webcam is a great addition to your set up. Works great for streaming and looks great. The set up is very simple, literally plug and play, and it mounts on top of the monitor with no sticky yucky things, and it is very stable. The view itself is amazing and catches everything all though I wish it had more movement on the actual camera itself rather than having to adjust the stand on the monitor but that is not a big issue since the shot is wide enough to capture what you need, and if it really needs to move you can easily adjust the stand that is used to stay on top of the monitor. The build is all plastic with a magnetic faceplate that can be swapped out. The par that has the logo JLAB is not too big but can be a little distracting if your monitor doesn't have much of an edge. It is a 1080p camera, so it is a little outdated for what technology is capable of now. But overall, very satisfied with the image and the look of the webcam and it is also great for those work meeting we all need from time to time in this virtual world.
