Pretty near perfect for me
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tripod is super sturdy and very easy to adjust. My camera snaps in securely and I can adjust this so the camera can shoot in landsacape or portrait mode with ease. I shoot a lot of videos so this tripod has been excellent for the portrait shooting. For as sturdy as it is, it’s not too heavy. It also collapses down do it’s easy to carry.

Outstanding prosumer tripod for photo/video/vlog
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't quite sure what to expect having never used Joby products before, but this tripod handily exceeded all expectations to turn in stellar performance for our hobbyist/enthusiast-level photography needs. Bottom line, this tripod is a flexible, thoughtfully designed, versatile, lightweight--yet still hearty--photo/video accessory that should serve well for all but the most demanding pro-level needs (like an outback photo-shoot when the combined weight of your camera and lens is dramatically more than a newborn baby and you still desperately need to find a place to hang your camera bag off the ground). Construction is top-flight with 5 total aluminum leg segments (4 of them telescoping) providing anything from a tabletop tripod setup to basketball player-height level adjustments reaching over 65" at full deployment. I'm 6'3" and with the legs and center column fully extended, I was easily looking straight into our Sony Alpha a6000's display/viewfinder without having to stoop or crane my neck. The snap locks for the telescoping legs grab securely at any location so your height adjustments are not limited to preset stops or detents. A combination of aluminum and what feels like higher-quality plastics helps keep the total weight down to a very manageable 3.2 lbs...the kit will hold a camera and lens/accessories tipping just north of about 6 and a half pounds. Despite the lightweight (yet somehow still solid-feeling) construction, I did not notice any shaking or precarious movements in slightly higher winds when shooting from our second-story deck. The tripod should EASILY handle most DSLR cameras and certainly any mirrorless camera or smartphone setups for vlogging, but I wouldn't try to hang a camera bag or a bunch of other heavy accessories from the frame as well or you might start to buckle the legs. Everything else about the tripod seems thoughtfully designed to balance portability with functionality--if you're like me and my wife and you just don't like the idea of slogging around a bunch of HEAVY gear to help you get those perfect shots, the Joby Compact is simply a no-brainer. The entire tripod folds down nicely to fit into the padded carrying bag; there's a cinch cord for the carrying case that helps keep the bag closed and can also SORT of act like a shoulder strap in a pinch; but an integrated strap, or at least D-rings to attach your own, would have been appreciated as the case isn't very comfortable for longer travels when slung over the shoulder for an extended period of time. The two pan-tilt-pivot handles are very large and easy to operate--they stack neatly against each other for storage but swing out at opposing angles for ease of operation; both use rotational friction locks to keep the 3 axis adjustments dialed in perfectly. Once mounted to the removable mounting shoe (with a standard 1/4" threaded mounting stud), you can adjust your camera using the two axis adjustment controls for virtually any orientation including completely vertical. There is a built-in bubble level at the back of the mounting shoe, but an additional level would also have been nice to ensure perfectly level adjustments on both axes. The kit also includes a smartphone mount that is pretty slickly designed. It screws into the same standard mounting stud on the removable mounting plate and provides a cold-shoe accessory mount on each end (!!!) of the expandable grips. The phone mount easily but securely expanded to accommodate a Max-sized iPhone in the case; but instead of being infinitely adjustable, it offers click-stops at the vertical, horizontal, and 45-degree angle marks (so all you budding auteurs out there can totally get your Dutch angles on!). Thanks to the quick-release tab at the back of the mounting plate, you can easily remove the phone from the tripod without having to remove it from the mount itself--this might be handy in case you want to keep a mic or light rig attached to the mount but still carry the phone by hand. Of course, the phone mount stows in the carrying case as well so you can keep everything together; but I admit I kind of wish there was a small internal pocket to keep it handy near the top of the bag rather than requiring me to fish the mount out of the bottom every time--just a small niggle though. So long as you're not expecting to go jousting or fending off rabid wildlife with this tripod, I can't imagine there being anything here to disappoint...it's light and small enough that you won't roll your eyes at the thought of having to "lug" it around with the rest of your gear, but it's solid and versatile enough though you probably DON'T need to bring anything else along to achieve professional-looking results every time. Definitely recommended if you're serious about your photo/video/vlogging needs!

EXCELLENT TRIPOD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND VLOGGING
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was already familiar with the Joby GorillaPod that is very popular with content creators, but was not previously aware that Joby also manufactures conventional, full-sized photography tripods. Apparently the Joby Compact tripods have been available in other countries, including Canada, and are now available here in the United States. The Joby Compact Advanced Kit tripod, Model Number JB01764-BWW is a full-size tripod which collapses to a very compact and lightweight form factor. When folded for storage or for transporting in the included cloth carry bag, the Joby Compact Advanced tripod measures only 5.25” x 17.3” long, and weighs only 4.1 lbs. This compact and light tripod is resultantly very portable and easy to take along and carry with other gear. The Joby carry bag also has a cord type strap for slinging the tripod and for closing the top of the bag. It would be nice if there was also a more substantial web type strap on the back of the carry bag, which would facilitate carrying it alone, or slung on the camera bag or camera backpack straps. The Joby Compact Advanced Kit also includes an accessory clamp type mounting bracket for mounting a smartphone on the tripod. The full extension height of the Joby Compact Advanced with all five leg segments extended is 55” with the center column fully retracted. The center column can add up to just over 10” of additional elevation, reaching a maximum elevation of 65 ¼”. The tubular extension segment legs are retained in the selected positions with quick-release, plastic lever clamp latches. There are no leg braces on the Joby Compact Advanced, and leg braces are not typical for this class of lightweight, light-duty tripod. The head is a 3-way, pan-tilt head with quick-release removable mounting plate with an industry standard ¼” threaded screw. In fact, the mounting plate is the same as is used on the Joby BallHead 3K mount and Joby GorillaPod 3K tripod, allowing for flexible interchangeability among the Joby gear. The head has a tilt range of -30° to +90° and 365° rotation for panning. There is a bubble level integral to the rear of the head, as well for one axis, but no bubble level for the second axis. The head construction is predominantly plastic. All axis controls are plastic on plastic friction / compression through use of the operating handles. The head is mounted on a 10” long center column elevator. The center column is not a geared, crank type elevator. Rather, the aluminum tube center column is a slip type, manually adjustable and secured with a knurled capped compression screw. The Joby Compact Advanced is rated for a payload of up to 6.6 lbs. Therefore, the Joby Compact Advanced is suitable for use with most small imaging devices including many digital SLRs, mirrorless cameras, video cameras and other common imaging devices. I am using the Joby Compact Advanced with both of my Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras. Even with the combined weight of the camera with a 70-350 zoom lens attached, the approximate 2.25 lb., front-heavy load (telephone lens) is well within the capabilities of the Joby Compact Advanced. Additionally, that front-heavy configuration remains stable and secure on this tripod, which is absolutely critical. The spread of the extended legs is sufficient to provide a stable base, and the “lockup” of the tilt control has proved to be secure and assuring. The overall quality and construction of the Joby Compact Advanced appears to be very good. However, it is important to understand that the Joby Compact Advance tripod is a lightweight and compact tripod, so it is “lightly built”. The legs themselves are thin, as is the tubing of which the legs are constructed. This is not a heavy-duty tripod which will endure rough handling and hostile environments or heavy-duty use. It is a lightweight tripod designed for convenience and ease of portability. It is simply worth appreciating these characteristics which are simultaneously advantageous yet limiting. I have been involved in photography for more than 50 years, and with videography for over 40 years. I have therefore owned several tripods through the years. This Joby Compact Advanced tripod is replacing a tripod that I have had for over 30 years. The fluid head finally failed after years of use with 35mm and 2 ¼” square format still cameras as well as the heavy video cameras of that decade. Now that my primary gear is comprised of lightweight and compact cameras and lenses, the Joby Compact Advanced attracted me with its compact size, light weight, competent design and good construction. I am using the Joby Compact Advanced for still photography, including use of front-heavy telephoto lens configurations, as well as for vlogging. I am finding the Joby Compact Advanced to be ideal for both applications. Additionally, I am really enjoying the ease of packing along the Joby Compact Advanced. It is light enough to not only shoulder sling, but also to attach to a camera bag or backpack for easy transportation. I am really appreciating how much easier it is to always take this compact and lightweight tripod with my gear, rather than hesitating to bring a tripod due to the burden presented. The Joby Compact Advanced is well made, and functions very well mechanically. Pan operation is smooth and level. It is capable of safely accommodating most camera gear. It is really nice to be able to always have a tripod handy when out in the field, given the Joby’s compact and lightweight qualities. It easily and quickly sets up in just seconds, especially when using gear with a Joby mounting plate pre-attached for quick-connect mounting and removal. It is also very nice to use the Joby Compact Advanced in static situations since it is so easy to set up and move around as necessary. The Joby Compact Advanced tripod is a fine accessory, and a nice addition to my gear locker.

A noticeable upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.--- SETUP --- The setup for the JOBY tripod is quick and simple. After the unboxing, you will find the tripod inside of a carrying bag. In the bag is the tripod and a phone adapter. No assembly required other than connecting the phone attachment. --- FEATURES --- The key feature of this tripod is its compact size, the included level, quick mount/dismount of attachments, and a phone mount that holds phones up to 3.4”. --- PERFORMANCE --- The performance of this tripod is excellent. I have purchased cheaper-end tripods thinking that there wouldn’t be much of a difference, but after trying this JOBY compact advanced tripod, I must say that the quality upgrade is noticeable. For starters, upon extending the legs the tripod doesn’t feel wobbly. At every point of extension, I could feel a sense of sturdiness during my setup. The level does a great job of making sure your capture device is capturing at your desired angle. The phone mount allows capture in landscape and portrait modes and you can switch between the two in seconds. When swiveling for panoramic photos or for fast action capture, the transition was smooth throughout the swivel. --- EXPECTATIONS --- The tripod meets my expectations. This is the first phone mount that I use that doesn’t require me to remove the case from my phone. I use it with an iPhone Pro Max 12. When using the phone mount, there is a cold shoe mount that allows for additional attachments, such as the JOBY Beamo Mini LED Light. I am a dancer and record my dance patterns for my instagram account in many locations. I need to be able to move quickly and the compact size allows me to quickly put this inside of my backpack in a laptop pocket! So now, I can carry it and my dance shoes anywhere, making one less thing to carry around in a separate bag. If there is one thing I feel could be improved, it would be the tightening ring below the screw mount. You require a coin to tighten whatever camera you are attaching, whereas other tripods I’ve used have a small ring that sticks out when tightening is required. Other than that, I truly have found a new tripod replacement. --- VALUE --- The price for the tripod in terms of value is great, as you are paying for quality. --- APPROVAL --- I highly recommend this product for amateur/starting photographers/videographers who want to take their quality captures to another level.

Nice entry level tripod
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Joby Compact advanced kit is a nice light tripod, great for traveling or strapping on to your camera backpack. The carrying case is a nice thick bag with a cinch on the top, most tripod bags I’ve had are extremely thin and useless for drop protection. The tripod itself weighs about 3lbs and seems to be sturdy aluminum and can extend up to 5.5 feet when fully open. Closed it is 17 inches. I mounted my mirrorless camera to the quick release mount, that includes a level which is nice.(same as the gorilla pod.) I did find the head a little clunky when trying to move it in to place. But when it was in place, it stayed. When I mounted my 70-200 (heavy) the tripod was sturdy and held it without issue. When extended all the way I had less confidence as the legs are very thing when fully extended. If you are out in inclement or windy weather, it might tax this unit due to its build. But for the average to above average photographer who likes to hike to locations this is not that bad. I would have liked for this unit to have a hook in the central rod, so you can hang your bag or a something weighted to keep it from moving when taking long exposures. But this is an entry level tripod. I’m pushing to see its limits. As previously mentioned, the camera mount head was a little clunky. If you are in a hurry to get a quick shot, this head unit won’t do the trick. I would have opted for a ball head mount if I could of. The phone mount is much like the phone mount also offered on the gorilla pod. It is perfect for vloggers or youtubers. It will hold most all phones and works perfect with the tripod. I would say that for vloggers or those who don’t have a lot of heavy accessories, this tripod is very nice and will work for you. For those with heavy 200mm and up lenses you are still ok indoors, but outside I’m not sure I would take a chance as this tripod really wasn’t meant to hold a lot. (Up to 6.6 lbs.) This is a nice tripod. I plan to use this as my main tripod for traveling. I would recommend to family and friends.

I Like It A Lot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: • It uses the same QR plate as the Joby BallHead 3k and GorillaPod 3K making it very easy to hot swap between them during shoots. • Phone mount is more attractive and functional than other tripods I’ve tried. As it can rotate within the mount from landscape to portrait meaning I don’t need to take it off to do so. Also, there are cold shoe mounts on both ends making it so if you want to attach a microphone and/or lighting you can. Since the QR plate also detaches and is low profile you can easily dismount it for close up B-Roll shots. All of which makes shooting so much easier and fun. • Max height is 65 inches (about 5’4 feet). But you can extend it further from there getting it to about 5’10 – 5’11. • Can hold up to 6.6 lbs. • 3-way tripod head is highly versatile. As it can be tilted in multiple directions and it comes with a built-in level. Both what I deem the arms are removeable for a clean look. But also fold into the tripod easily when moving. • Aluminum build quality is SOLID. All mounts/adjustments have no wobble, snap into place well, and move smoothly. • Carrying bag is padded, large enough to easily fit the product and phone mount, and comes with a little shoelace strap making it easy to carry as it only weights about 3.5 lbs. • Professional look. • Folds up quite nicely which doesn’t take a whole lot of room. • Arms are thick making the device sturdy and feel higher quality. CONS: • Occasionally (depending on the device) the QR plate requires you to screw it in which sometimes requires a flathead screwdriver. I would prefer to not need that. • Price. CONCLUSION: I’ve got several different tripods. Some of them cheap and some of them more expensive. This is the best one I’ve tried and easily recommend it.

Helps you get that perfect shot.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this is not your tiny, use on top of a table tripod; this does collapse down to something that is easy to carry around, gives you great variety in angles and heights to frame your shot from. This tricked out, portable tripod comes with its own bag for transport. It’s a drawstring type bag that is just a tad bit taller than the backpack I use to carry around my 15’ laptop and other gear. It does collapse down enough that I could strap it to the outside of my backpack without any issues, but I think for the times I need to use it on the go I will just use the bag. The bag itself seems nicely crafted and durable with enough padding to keep the tripod safe. You get a ton of adjustable points on this tripod. It has a 3-way head, so it is incredible easy to frame up the right shot regardless of the angle. A couple of twists and you can smoothly change angles on the 3-way head. Each leg has 4 adjustable locking point, plus you also get another height adjustable point in the main column that connects to the quick release plate where you would attach your camera, or the included phone clamp. Between the adjustment options, the light and durable aluminum frame, the included phone clamp, and the durable carrying bag this nifty little tripod checks off all the boxes for a great tripod. If you are looking for a great tool to help you create your content this is a great place to start. An easy recommendation to anyone.

Solid Mid-Range on The Go Tripod
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Joby Compact Advanced Kit is a good entry level tripod. Out of the box, the tripod comes in a drawstring travel bag and is 1’7” collapsed. 5’4” fully extended including a 10” adjustable column. Tripod is light, weighing in at 3.13 lbs. making it easily transportable. Kit comes with two control handles. One lever for pan and tilt, one for roll. Roll arm rotates 90 degrees for compact storage. Both control arms rotate clockwise to lock movement and can be fully detached. Each leg moves independently and does not lock. Legs telescope in 4 sections. Rubberized feet are a welcome feature to keep tripod stable. Quick release mount is identical to the one found on the “GorillaPod 3K”. Due to the plate’s small form factor, the 1/4-inch mounting screw cannot be hand tightened. Instead, it required a coin or similarly shaped object to tighten. Bubble level is tubular as opposed to circular, meaning that it can only level roll, not tilt. Included cellphone mount fits up to 3.5” and has two cold shoe mounts on each side. Rubberized and stippled mount is a nice touch. Overall, the Joby Compact Advanced Kit is a good tripod for cellphone recordings and for those on the move.

Versatile Tripod for DSLR, Mirrorless & Cell Phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JOBY - Compact Advanced Smart Kit # JB01764-BWW is the ideal photographer & videographer tripod for compact DSLR, mirrorless cameras & smartphones. Weighing 3.13 pounds & made completely of aluminum, it provides ample support for cameras weighing up to 6.6 pounds. Maximum extended height of this JOBY tripod is a whopping 65"; minimum reach is 17.5". The popular JOBY GorillaPod 3K kit uses the same QR plate as this tripod. The quick release plate is precision manufactured for quick release, achieving perfect alignment every time. It even includes a built-in level to assist with proper camera positioning. Rotate from landscape to portrait positioning in a couple seconds; it rotates & locks in with a definite click. The smartphone bracket has cold shoe mounts to both the right and left of the phone. This allows for easy external mic & light, adjacent to the smartphone, for most effective results. The included carry bag is awesome. It closes instantly with the retained cord that allows you to sling it over your shoulder, or to drop it in a backpack. Camera mount is the standard 1/4-20 bolt, designed to fit virtually every camera. The smartphone mount bolts to the 1/4-20 bolt with an ingenious bracket that is included. JOBY includes a lifetime parts & labor warranty. I suspect warranty claims are extremely rare, because this tripod is built completely out of aluminum & is clearly designed to last. It is a beautiful product that looks & feels quite substantial. This tripod is an incredible bargain. It costs 1/6 as much as my smallest carbon fiber tripod with similar dimensions, only the carbon fiber tripod is designed to hold hefty 26.5 pound camera & lens. The carbon fiber tripods have a hook under the center shaft to hold your camera bag. This adds weight at a low center of gravity to increase stability. Unfortunately, this JOBY tripod does not feature a hook at the bottom of the center shaft, because if it did, hanging anything would reduce the overall 6.6 pound weight capacity of this tripod. If you intend to use this tripod fully extended in a windy environment, you may be better served with the much more expensive carbon fiber tripod that can support your camera bag below the center shaft. However I find for most applications, this JOBY tripod more than satisfies my needs, as long as I do not need my 200-400VR lens that weighs close to 7 pounds without the camera body included. I highly recommend this tripod for photographers, videographers & vloggers.

Compact and lightweight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Joby, which is famous for its gorilla pod line up of flexible tripods, has released a line of compact and lightweight tripods for those needing a taller but still portable traditional tripod. The tripod is packed in a nice padded carrying bag. Inside is the tripod, the two handles, the phone holder, and some simple instructions. One thing that caused me a moment of pause was that the handles weren’t connected to the tripod head, and they have different ends. There was also a small loose washer in the bag. For a moment I thought that the one without the plastic cap was missing parts, but I figured it out and got it assembled correctly (washer and handle with no cap go on the left threaded rod, while the one with the plastic cap goes on the rod that swings out for side to side tilt adjustment). This tripod has a very compact head, as it uses the small plate that is used by other Joby products. While I appreciate the compact size and compatibility with other tripods like the gorilla pod, the need for a coin or other object to fully tighten it is a drawback. I wish it had textures for finger tightening or a flip down part to help tighten it. Fully extended, the tripod is surprisingly tall and is quite useable even for a taller person such as me. The center column can be clicked off for a short hand stick in a pinch too, which is nice. Overall, it is stable, but like any lightweight tripod you have to be careful in the wind outdoors. You may need to anchor or weigh it down if using it outdoors. I did put my Canon 7D mk II with a 70-300L lens on it and it was able to hold it with no drift or other issues from the tripod head. That is about the max weight limit for the tripod, I would not go any heavier as stability starts to suffer at max heights with a large camera. The included cell phone mount has a high quality feel. It also features two “cold shoe” mount points on each side for attaching accessories such as lights or microphones that have a shoe mount. This increases flexibility a lot as you can find a bunch of accessories or adapters to leverage the cold shoes. I have a cold shoe adapter for my GoPro, as an example, so I can just click it on and off of this mount quickly. Action on the tripod head is butter smooth. Panning and adjustments are easy with the handles and the smooth movement of the tripod head. I really like how premium all of the mechanicals and materials feel, while still maintaining light weight and portability. The quick fold down for the handles and how they pack flush against the tripod legs really makes this a compact package while still maintaining the control of having two handles to adjust and pan without having to take anything apart to put it away. Overall, this is a very capable tripod for creators on the go who need the features of a traditional tripod in a compact and easy to use package. At this price point, with the included phone mount and smooth action, it is a good value and I recommend it.

Great Choice For A Travel Tripod With 3-Way Head
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Joby Tripod Compact Advanced Kit The Joby tripod is a compact tripod that is small enough to easily carry with you. It comes with a well-made camera bag that holds the tripod plus Joby’s phone holder mount. The bag also has a cinch strap which keeps the bag closed when carrying it around. Unfortunately, the cinch strap isn’t long enough to carry it like a messenger bag. The bag itself is very well made and is padded. There are 5 total sections with 4 extendable which allow the tripod to be collapsed into a compact form while still allowing you to extend the tripod to about shoulder height (shoulder height for an average person). It has a center post that will also allow you to extend the tripod head an additional foot. The center post can be removed and turned upside down to help with low to the ground shots. The process to remove and turn the center post upside down is very quick. The tripod head is a three-way head. Pan, Tilt, and Roll are easily done with a quick turn and movement of either of the two handles. The top most handle controls roll and the bottom handle controls tilt and pan. You can tilt the head a little past 90 degrees forward and 45 degrees up. You can also roll the head to the left 90 degrees and to the right 45 degrees. This allows for shots straight down and also vertical shots with a dslr or phone. It holds a maximum of 6.6lbs/3kgs. I was able to mount my Panasonic S1R on it with a small lens and without a problem. Panning is smooth for a compact tripod. I was able to lock the tilt in place with the S1R. Joby includes a camara mount with the Compact Advanced Kit. The hold is well made. It holds my iPhone 12 Pro Max in my UAG case. You can also turn the hold 90 degrees to go from horizontal to vertical quickly. The head has a mount like that on the Joby 3K GorillaPods. It would be nice to see Joby make a mount that doesn’t require a coin or flat head to put on and remove from the camera or phone holder, but it is nice that the mount has a bubble level on it. If you are familiar with GorillaPods, then you know what the mount is like. The Joby tripod will be replacing my current travel tripod. It weighs close to the same as it and the Joby’s head is more stable than the head on my current one. Overall, I’m very impressed with the design of this compact tripod and would recommend it to someone wanting a travel tripod with a good tripod head. Well done Joby!

Professional and portable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a professional DSLR camera, then you know how important a good tripod is. Not everybody does, and these days, most people use their cellphones. The compact lenses and digital aides make some cellphones capable of rivaling pro cameras. Either way, the Joby Compact advanced tripod will work for you. My camera with the zoom lens was always too heavy for my old tripod, it just wouldn't hold. The Joby works great and handles up 6.6Lbs, which is good for most (unless you have a superzoom lens). I like the freedom of movement in all directions with the 3-way mount. The removable cold shoe makes it easy to attach your camera then pop it back in the mount, and the built-in level ensures your pictures won't suffer due to uneven footing. Using the cellphone grip mount was a bit tough, probably due to my oversized case, but it holds up to 3.4" width. Once in, it's quite secure and turns from portrait to landscape with a satisfying click. On either side of the grip clip are mini cold shoes for mounting supplemental lighting and/or a microphone available from Joby. The legs have 4 stops and with the head fully raised, your camera sits at 6ft. I like the ability to individually adjust pitch and yaw with separate joysticks that sit perpendicular when in use and swivel parallel for storage. The included case is nicely padded and the drawstrings double as a sling for easy carrying.

Outstanding and Compact Tripod!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for compact Tripod and got JOBY Compact advanced kit. It came with Tripod, Phone mount and Carrying bag. Build quality is solid and made with quality materials. I am using SONY mirrorless camera with 70-200 mm zoom lens and it works perfectly with Joby. It measures only 5.25” x 17.3” long and weighs only 4.1 lbs. It is very lightweight and easy to carry during trips. The included accessory mounting bracket for smartphone works great and supports iPhone and android phones. The phone bracket also rotates within the mount, and it is easy to swap from landscape b-roll to portrait dance-off in a matter of seconds. It has five leg elements to extend up to 55” and center column can add up to 10” with the maximum of 65”. It is very easy to use the head with is 3-way, pan-tilt head. The quick release removable mounting plate with ¼” threaded screw and has bubble level on the front. The head construction is made of plastic, and it holds DSLR and Mirrorless without any issues. I have used this tripod for a hiking trip, and it was very lightweight. This tripod supports up to 6.6-pound weight capacity. I am really impressed with build quality, portability, and light weight capabilities of this tripod.

Worth every penny
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had previously purchased a $119.99 tripod for cell phone photography. Needless to say that tripod fell apart within a couple months, woth the first issues presenting themselves in the first week of ownership. After fully failing on me i needed a new one and was hesitant which would be the best option for the price for me. After finally deciding on the Joby for just a bit more than i originally spent. I could not Be Happier! You can tell the designer if this tripod knows how photographers will use a tripod because it is Significantly easier to use than my old tripod. Of course if you are looking for a tripod for a heavy camera maybe look for a carbon fiber framed tripod. But for light to medium cameras or any cellphone, you are golden with this product

Easy to carry around with its included carrying case. Fully extended, four segments on the three legs the neck, stands at least a head taller than me. Comes with a cell phone mount if you want to use your phone so options are there

Fine if you get all the pieces and on sale.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this yesterday as “open box - excellent”. Like another reviewer mentioned, Best Buy employees are recently horrible at verifying if an item is complete. This tripod also showed up without the plate the actually attach it to anything. As for the tripod itself, I like the small size, but there are a few issues. The legs don’t lock into place at all. They’re just kind of free wheeling it. They may be able to be tightened at the tops, but they’re able to freely move and wiggle around the monopod extension in the middle. It just feels flimsy. The top has a cool mechanism where the topmost handle can swivel around to not be in the way of the other one, but the way of the rotation is just funky. No one needs to rotate their camera that way… and because there’s no ident to where it’s level on a flat surface, it’s just weird. Other that those couple main gripes, the tripod feels solid and is indeed compact. I would pay $50 for it at normal price. Not worth the $100.
