Perfect for my needs

The last one I had used a spring and I always felt like it was about to scratch my phone (which it eventually did). But this one has a tightening mechanism so I feel safe using it. Definitely recommended!

Some of the reviews weren't too good but I purchased anyway and found the bad reviews to be unfounded, that is, unless you're severely mechanically challenged and you're the person who has trouble working a pencil. Did the job I bought it for without issues.

Using it mostly for video in crowded venues, so needed a secure fit. Since the product is adjustable, you get it: just make sure to adjust your phone so it fits securely (I leave the case on just in case someone knocks the entire tripod over). Would also be great for family pics: no more balancing your phone on shelves, books, tables, etc.
