    good sequel.

we have friends who really were unimpressed, but our expectations weren't that high so we're not unhappy. I liked the packaging - cute round tin, it had all the formats I wanted for the movie and I liked the t-shirt that came with it. Plot strings together well enough but there should have been so many more unhappy endings. Gratuitously mean to the english baby sitter. the dinosaurs were cool. the baddies were just a bit too stupid. I did like the pg13 way the people who were supposed to chase the dinosaurs met their fates. could have been much redder. the dinosaurs were way more interesting than the people, except for the poor security guard who says in the features when you look like I do you know you're not making it to the end of the movie. I disliked the protagonists less than I disliked the ones in the last sequel.

Solid entertainment couipled with awesome CGI!

World follows the Spielberg vision of the previous Park chapters – it’s visionary solid entertainment that’s coupled with awesome improvements, over the years, in Computer Generated Graphics (CGI), and its’ believable acting is combined with solid cooperation between the Cast, Director and Producers. The musical themes are true to the Park Legend as is the cinematography and story development – all of which leads to an enlightened, memorable and interesting entertainment experience. It’s a solid 2nd view!

Good quality DVD with everything I was looking for

This is a good product. It has everything I was looking for. As one of a different cultural background, I look for subtitles in other languages such as Spanish and Chinese. The picture quality is also good. Even though some artifacts can be found in the movie, most of it is well made. I think many of the scenes were computer generated. The 3D rendering software is good so the result is realistic.

    nice, limited edition tins

i wasnt sure what to expect. Tins arent really a good thing for me to collect since they are round and can't stay on my movie shelf unit. but bestbuy's packaging sort of makes up for it. its basically the plastic sleeve that acts like a stand for the tins to be placed in, which will hold them up nicely on your movie shelves. but even still i wouldn't buy a tin casing again. the only reason i did was because it included an ultra violet code so that i can use it with my flixster account which i love. bestbuy, move away from the tins and just continue with steelbook bluray releases. i love those! either way, still very much love this, it was affordable and well made. the bluray/dvd each come in their own plastic sleeve inside the tin.

Worthy of the Jurassic Park Franchise

This was a great movie, and as you can see in the title, I honestly feel like it's worthy of the franchise name, unlike maybe a couple of the other "Jurassic" movies... The action is fast-paced, and the predictability of the romantic parts does not detract from the movie's plot. I really like the turn-abouts in this movie and appreciate that some of the things we have come to expect in the "Jurassic" universe can be tipped on their heads without losing the overall sense of awe we have come to feel associated with these movies. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves the franchise, if you haven't see the other films, you can still enjoy this movie, but you'll miss out on some of the references and the jokes.

Compared to the others, its aiight

Growing up with puppets and animitronics, sometimes CGI leaves a lot to be desired or at least CGI that is done poorly. There are some scenes that look absolutely breathtaking when executed (the helicopter scene we all know) and others no so much (the attack scene in the sphere). In Jurassic Park fashion, something goes wrong as life bursts through the restraints of man and take over like a jungle left on its to flourish. The short comings mostly are lack of character development, some poor acting and unnecessary character deaths. One death in particular really took away from the store as they were lively and held enthusiasm that could have aided the franchise of Jurassic World. Overall you may enjoy it, its a summer film popcorn flick that has some really good Dinosaur scenes while also paying some fan-service.

    Great movie and package

Jurassic World ranks up there with Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 popcorn masterpiece in that it effectively delivers consistent thrills, eye-popping special effects, and an irresistibly suspenseful plot. It establishes a platform to build a new trilogy while honoring the legacy of that first film with several nostalgic nods to Park’s key set pieces and interpolations of John Williams’ original score. That’s a welcome acknowledgement for us Gen-Xers who so thoroughly enjoyed the first movie. World takes the conceit of Park for granted: Ingen has been able to control the revived dinosaurs and open a successful, profit-driven “Dino Disney World” of sorts. Needing to continually spike interest, the Ingen scientists create new species (the hubris!) and that’s where the problems begin. The expected mayhem ensues as the newly created dino cleverly breaks from its pad and causes all sorts of issues on the secluded island. The plot specifics do not matter in a summer crowd-pleaser like this, so don’t get caught up in the nonsensical third-act resolutions. Just go with it!

I am a huge fan of the Jurassic Park movies. And after being a little disappointed with the 3rd installment, I went into this movie being cautiously optimistic, since the trailers were so good. And man did it live up to my expectations, and then some. I mean this movie just checked off all the boxes for me. And frankly speaking I am a bit astonished at the critics here. I mean what is it that they expected from a Dino movie? Shakespearian-esq storytelling. C'mon. This movie has an awesome cast, fun set pieces, good acting and best of all, the Raptors are back. And they are as menacing as ever. Now THAT is AWESOME. A MUST watch for all Jurassic Park fans. This one will not disappoint.

    not bad at all

    |
    Posted .

Like all the Jurassic Park movies, this was a logical disaster. With a world of dinosaurs to chose from, the idiots who ran the place decided to make something bigger and nastier? Get real. A zoo or park with security as pathetic as this, or the others in series? Right. Unstoppable dinosaurs? A .30 caliber rifle or a slug loaded 12 gauge shotgun in the hands of moderately competent marksman is enough to drop a six ton animal in its tracks, so why are these animals immune to gunfire? OK. Bad news over. The movie was fast paced, the acting and the special effects good, and, like the other Jurassic Park movies, this one was well enough done to allow for suspension of disbelief and ignore the scientific and ballistic absurdities. What really won me over, however, is something obvious since the first movie in the series. If the raptors are as intelligent as the movies claim, and are pack animals, they would be at least as easy to train, and possibly domesticate, as dogs. My recommendation: Put your brain in neutral and enjoy the movie.

    Fun reboot

My wife and I were sceptical about this movie from the trailer but we like Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard so we figured we'd give it a try. I'm glad we did! It's fun! It touches on the past movies without robbing from them and starts the adventure all over again. We watched it prior to letting our daughter see it - she's a fan of the originals - and wanted her to experience the fun of a Jurassic Park movie on the big screen. The original Jurassic Park was the last great mind-blowing movie theater experience of my youth (15 years old) and my wife and I wanted our daughter to begin (4 years old) her first of, hopefully, many theater experiences that transport you away to another place for a couple of hours to have fun. Mission accomplished! Looking forward to seeing future installments! ps, Not every 4 year old will or should watch this movie. There are some graphic parts (no more than the original) but my daughter does understand living dinosaurs aren't real and that it's make-up and special effects. Use your own discretion.

    A Fun and Intense Movie

    |
    Posted .

I had heard this movie was good, so I had high hopes and expectations when I started to watch it. I was not disappointed. It has the prerequisite exposition period where they set everything up, but it wasn't drug out and boring. And once things start happening? Well, THEY START HAPPENING and they do not let up. It is not a 'feel good' movie, but a very intense cinematic adventure. The CGI is top notch and the acting is great (even the kids, which is often a low point in films). I definitely recommend this to any Jurassic Park fans (there are plenty of throwbacks they'll appreciate), and anyone who enjoys a good suspenseful trip. Not for the sensitive or faint at heart.

Great Blu Ray / Not Great Case

    |
    Posted .

The BR comes in a round metal tin. I'm all for metal cases on my Blu Rays, but this one is round, meaning it won't stack on your shelf ideally. Inside the tin are a couple of cardboard sleeves, one to hold the BR and one to hold the DVD. Again, it's fine for what it is, but I prefer a normal BR case over this kind. Still, the Picture/Sound quality of the movie is fantastic. Given I got this set with a $5 BB Rewards Cert and a T-shirt all for $20 made the deal too good to pass up. Just be sure to save the cardboard exterior of the BR packaging if you ever want to trade in the movie. The metal tin has no barcode on it, only the cardboard exterior, so you will need that.
