    "Just Mercy" Matters

Based on a true story and sticking closely to the facts, "Just Mercy" tells the story of an idealistic Harvard lawyer Bryan Stevenson (convincingly portrayed by Michael B. Jordan, who heads a cast that includes Brie Larson, Rafe Spall, and Tim Blake Nelson) who sets up office in Alabama in the late 1980s to appeal death row convictions. One of his first cases involves the dubious conviction of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx), whose case becomes a lightning rod for the systemic racism of American justice as it is applied to Blacks in the south. The film eschews the kind of melodramatic trappings common to this kind of "legal thriller" (there are no fiery courtroom histrionics or surprise confessions on hand), but that only serves to emphasize the maddening injustice of what was perpetrated by the state against an innocent man. In this age of social protest against the unequal application of the law following the deaths of several Black Americans across the country, "Just Mercy" couldn't be timelier or more compelling.

Exposing Racsim and Prejudice in the Criminal Just

I read the Book when the movie first came out. The Author of the book did an excellent job exposing the Racsim, Prejudice and unfairness of the Criminal Justice System. The movie was missing a lot. But i did enjoy it. It also exposed at lot about the South. And the Racsim and Prejudice is still going strong in this Nation. The Author of this Book put in a lot of work to free the Innocent. We need more Attorneys like him. So people can't even get a fair trial. I almost cried when i read in the Book that they put this man on Death Row before he was even given a trial. They took this man's life.

    Powerful True Story

I saw this on Netflix disc rental and knew that this was a must have for my collection. Acting, script, direction were all worth the 5 stars. Michael B. Jordan did an excellent job in this role and made it very believable. The disc 'extras' about the real people this story is based on was worth the watch. Very few movies of this caliber under an "R" rating come out each year, so when one like this does comes out - it is a real treasure.

This movie is Brutal!!! It's the sad reality of how racism won in the Courts. How The death penalty was already set in place before determining if a man was guilty or not. Im not gonna lie I cried alot!! The actors are excellent!! The first Black lawyer from Harvard whom is working for free to help his clients overturn the death penalty and possibly have a retrail to their cases for freedom.

BLM. I love the truth. This hero fights for justice for those wrongly accused and imprisoned., Officers know what they are doing. I love how this movie showcases someone having the courage to stand up to helped those wronged by the justice system. What's heartbreaking is things have not changed and this horrible wrong being done to African American males still occurs to this present day

This is a must see for anybody who wants a true depiction of what the south is all about. To think that this happened in the 80's, trial in 1988, and 90's, exonerated in 1993, makes the story even more disturbing. The ELECTROCUTION...is bone chilling. I tip my hat to Michael B and Jammie for their talent and their ability to make you feel the pain of African Americans in the south.

I saw this movie at the Theatre and I knew I had to make it a part of my collection. Michael Jordan is superb and Jamie Foxx is the man. It's a story we see far too often of people unjustly convicted on known false testimony. It's a bitter sweet story made with a great cast who you can tell put their heart and soul into the work.

I first saw this as an inflight movie. As a lawyer who has spent most of his career in various parts of the criminal justice system, including prosecution and criminal defense work, the movie reached me in ways the general public might not understand.

I love both Jamie Fox and MJ. They both are extremely talented but MJ is Absolutely the Best. Just Mercy is Life in every part of the world but with God's Blessing we (Americans) can change that once and for all. This movie makes you think, what if we all cared. Justice For All. No Matter What The Race.

The title says it all. I’m usually not one for these heavy racial weighted movies, but this one was different. A true story I didn’t know about and it was well executed. Michael B Jordan, Brie Larson & Jamie Foxx did their thing. Great movie.

It's a great movie based on the true story. Its a great true story based on the life of the inmate. It was a awesome true telling life story of an inmate and what his life was like in prison. Its a crazy time what blacks had to deal with at that time to be put in prison.

The more thing change the more thing are the same. The movie depicts an event which very well is a part of real life today. The justice system for people of color or Black people has not changed much. The performances by Jamie Fox and Michael Jordan are powerful. A young lawyer defends a man accused of killing a white woman. This movie is not for the weak!

Superb!!!! Acting was phenomenal!!!! Jamie played a very convincing Ray Charles, but his portrayal of Walter McMillan had me experiencing all kinds of emotions. I couldn't tell it was acting. He totally embodied the character. Michael B. Jordan... outstanding!! Definitely his best performance by far and the performance of the year by any actor!!! I'm calling it now. Two Oscar's please for these gentlemen. Excellent writing, excellent casting, excellent everything!!
