They also appreciate the convenience of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as the improved sound quality compared to factory head units. Some customers also find the additional features like tire pressure, RPM, and 0-60 readings to be valuable. On the downside, a few customers have mentioned that the price is high, but they still consider it a good value compared to other options.

    Quality Control Issues

I was really looking forward to having this head unit installed in my 4Runner. I ordered it online and it took awhile to ship but no biggie. I received it, purchased the antenna adapter, dash kit, and Maestro RR/vehicle-specific harness and was ready for the install. I get a call from the technician about 20 minutes into the install saying that there was a bad smell he noticed as soon as he took the unit out of the box. It was a very bad burning smell. He said he usually just goes right into installing the head units but something told him to bench test it prior and the unit would not even power on. It had all the tape/seals intact but perhaps it was sent to me used but for $1500 I expect better quality control. Thankfully, the technician recommended the Kenwood DMX9707S to me and had one left on hand to install instead. I can say I am much happier with it as it looks OEM in my 4Runner and I don’t have to worry about a huge screen sticking out of my dash just waiting to be stolen. I saved $600 and I am super happy with the Kenwood instead. I felt the need to write this review since I saw other reviews similar about this head unit. I cannot recommend it since I didn’t get to see it in action. Perhaps it was just a faulty one I received but I can’t imagine why it’d emit a burning smell and makes me question the longevity of such an expensive product.
