This new offering from JVC in the earbuds market has a particular target audience. At the low entry cost you should align your expectations. These will not compete with any of the higher end competitors at Sony or Bose.
Now that we have that out of the way these are great lightweight earbuds that I find accel the most at listening to music casually. I've taken some phone calls on them and find that my callers on the other end often have a hard time hearing me so the mic's are not the greatest.
There's no app configuration here either, everything is pre programmed into the earbuds and is explained in the helpful how to documentation that comes with the earbuds. The case is your charger for the earbuds and charges over USB-C. The case does not support wireless charging. I find the battery length is pretty great, I can generally listen to music all day and not worry too much about battery life.
These earbuds do not support Multi Point Connection which is too bad so you can only connect them to one device at a time.
I also like that you can use left or right earpiece independently if needed. The ambient and noise cancellation modes don't leave any surprises, they are not ground breaking but they do just what their name implies.
It might seem like I'm disappointed in this product but I'm really not, I tend to listen to music on these often but I find that is there best use case. They are very lightweight on features but sometimes you just want a low cost option with good bass and sound and these will absolutely satisfy that need.
Know what you getting into and you will not disappointed here.

As for fit and finish, these seem nice enough. They are comfortable, they fit in my ears well, they stay in place well. I have used them while walking for maybe 10 hours so far with no problems. Typically I am listening to podcasts or audio books or using them for meetings. Spoken word. Even when I build up a sweat in a one hour walk on a hot day, there is no problem. The case is nice, and the little clip attachment they have is a nice touch, so you can clip them in, or onto, your bag so you don't have to dig for them.
I also really like the size of the area available for touch controls. When you tap the earpiece, you have a good size target.
The touch controls themselves took me a bit to get used to. Cycling through the features, switching between ambient, off and noise cancelling mode. I can't really hear a difference between off and noise cancelling mode. In ambient mode, I can certainly hear more background noise. Off mode and noise cancelling mode both seem to negate some of the higher pitch background noises, but nowhere near as significantly as other noise cancelling earbuds I use. I have an office refrigerator about three feet from my desk in my home office, and you can hear it while it is running. If I turn on noise cancelling on my other earbuds, it disappears almost completely. You really have to struggle to determine when the refrigerator is running or when it is not. As soon as you start listening to anything, you can’t tell at all. Same with the air condition at work. I will just sit at my desk with my earbuds in and turned on, with nothing playing, just to kill the sound of the AC. With these earbuds, I can still clearly hear when the refrigerator is running and I can still hear the AC. Trying to time my touches for the controls is not going great either. I will be going for a three tap, and before I have hit that 3rd tap, the 2nd tap feature registers. I guess I just have to get used to the timing. I seem to be getting the hang of it.
There is a talking mode on these as well, which I am not sure what it is even for. Basically it seems to just lower the volume of the music to a lower level. If you wanted to talk to someone though, why wouldn't you just pause the audio? That is what I always do. The first time I accidentally got into talking mode, I didn't even understand what had happened. Basically my audio just dropped down to a level where I could barely hear it. I had to find the user manual to figure out what I had done and get back to normal. Toggling the other modes, they tell you what you did. After changing the mode, a voice will say the name of the new mode you toggled into. Toggling into this mode, unlike the other modes, doesn't give you any audio clue into what it was exactly, that you changed. The audio just drops out and doesn’t tell you why.
There is also a setting for base, flat, and off. Flat and off really don't sound too good to me. It is hard to put into words, but it just sounds… kind of staticy. I thought maybe it was my audio source at first, but I tried several and it didn’t seem to make a difference. Then I realized, even the built-in audio prompts were affected by it. They sound kind of… staticy. Base mode is passable.
I also installed the JVC app. I use an app with my other earbuds so I just assumed I would install the JVC app for these. I just assumed there would be one and that I should install it. I soon discovered the JVC earphones app doesn't even work with these JVC earbuds. They are not supported.
As for the bluetooth, they paired easily enough, and I paired them to multiple devices. I can go a couple of rooms away from the device they are connected to before the connection starts to break up. So that was fine.
A nice feature of these is the battery life though. They have a significantly better battery life than anything else I have had.
So, it is a hard call for me on these. Would I buy them again? I do like to save money. They do have good battery life. They do fit pretty good. So, they are affordable for headphones with Active Noise Cancelling, but that active noise cancelling doesn’t seem to work as well as I would hope it would and the sound quality isn’t as good as I would hope either.
I used to only use super inexpensive earbuds, because I didn’t think I cared about audio quality, and I actually don’t, for the most part. But then, I got a nice pair, and was surprised at the difference.
Had I never had better earbuds, I would probably be totally happy with these, and these are much more affordable than my others. Now that I have though, if it were something I was going to use for listening to music or where the ANC was really important for where I was going to be using them, I think I would cough up the extra cash, as much as I would hate to, to get something better.
With that said, I don't regret getting these at all. I actually use my earbuds more for the spoken word, zoom meetings, podcasts, etc., and I don't always need ANC. I think these are just fine for those situations. Why pay extra for things you don't need? I need more than one set of earbuds, and they don't all need to be the best I can buy. At their price, these totally have a place in my inventory.

These are great earbuds for travel! I took them on a recent cross country flight. The charging case is tiny, so it's easy to stash in a quick grab backpack pocket or a pants pockets. The battery life is excellent. I had ten hours of flights over three days and I made it through without needing a recharge.
The ear buds are also extremely comfortable. I didn't experience any ear pain or fatigue. They stayed in well, but I wasn't moving around a lot. If. These probably wouldn't be good for strenuous activities.
Sound is amazing, especially for this price point. Voices are clear when listening to podcasts or watching movies. Sound is well-balanced when listening to music. Not bass-heavy, but the mids and highs are clean with no distortion until you reach top volume. The noise cancellation helped block out the cabin noise so I could enjoy my music and videos. These obviously arent earbuds for audiophiles, but for travel or a spare set, these check all the boxes for a great value for the price.

These are very comfortable, and light to wear. Sound was decent and something I would expect from a cheaper wireless earbud. Case is low profile which makes it easy to carry in your pocket.
The noise cancelling works, but it is not the best. You can hear when you activate the noise cancelling but and hear things get a lot quieter but can still hear things, so it does not completely cancel out surrounding noises. But for half the price of a nicer pair of earbuds, it was not that bad.
I will these on about an hour bus ride. They would feel like they were coming out, so I would go to readjust them, just to feel that they were still in place.
They were easy to pair with my phone.
If you are looking for a decent wireless earbud that does a decent job, then these are them. You also get some extra tips to swap out if needed.
Overall, I personally like these for on the go. Easy to pack away when not using. But personally, I prefer earbuds that wrap around the ear as I just feel those stay in better and if they do come out still held on from being around the ear. These I would be afraid that they might come out and get lost.

Average buds, just Meh

I wear buds or phones pretty much all day at work, listening to an assortment of music and podcasts. On average for me earbud batteries seem to lose much of their capacity after a year or so, so I decided to try these JVC Gumy Premiums as my next set.
The Gumy Premiums show up in a small box with a carry case containing the two buds, a short charging cable and 4 different sizes of inserts. JVC advertises a translucent case lid to showcase in style. The lid is partially translucent, but I can’t see the buds through it, nor do I need to. In general the case as a whole feels cheap, but is functional, it holds and charges the buds. There are stickers over the charging contacts you will need to remove before use/charging.
The 3rd largest inserts came installed on my buds, after trying the others I settled on the largest size as my best fit. The Gumy Premiums synced right up with any bluetooth device I’ve tried, and it’s nice that the bluetooth name matches what they are.
After listening to music and podcasts, I’m not blown away by any aspect of the Gumy’s. The audio quality is just average. Perfectly usable, but didn’t blow my socks off. When taping to switch modes you can’t just quickly cycle through. You tap the bud and have to wait for it to beep and then speak the mode (which feels slow) and wait a moment before another tap will register to get to the next mode. The noise canceling function does work, but is nowhere near what the big name brands in noise canceling can do. When switching from ‘off’ to ‘noise cancel’ there is some difference, but not much, meaning the passive noise canceling is doing most of the work.
The ambient sound mode works ok for me and pipes just enough sound in for an office environment.
When I need to reposition the buds, it’s hard to grab them without accidentally registering a ‘tap’ and changing volume or track or something. This could be just because of my ear or finger shape and size, and doesn’t happen every time I adjust.
The bluetooth range is very good, possibly the best I’ve had in any buds.
The Gumy Premiums are also a very good fit in my ear and I can wear them most of the day in comfort. Other brands I usually have to just wear one, and swap ears throughout the day because of soreness and pressure points. I also found the battery to last me through a day of work, playing music, podcast, and using all three modes depending on what I'm doing at the time. I’ll get a voice notice of low battery towards the end of the work day, but have never had them run completely out.
One last note, these have terrible latency when in the normal modes. You have to tap the right side bud 4 times to put them in ‘low latency mode’ which then will sync up pretty good if you are watching videos.
All in all, these JVC Gumy Premiums are acceptable for the price. Pretty much average across the board for me, and getting an average 3 stars.

I picked these up because I wanted to see how jvc did with this price point and noise canceling. These are by far the lowest price I've seen for noise cancelling buds. I like jvc a lot based on my old over the ear basic earbuds that did quite well amd still a favorite set for me to use when I'm active. These Here are very basic, no app and I got to read a manual to learn about the controls, I like that, old school simple. That being said, the sound is limited on these. There are only 3 equilizer settings, flat is tinny, bass is ok, voice is just not good for rock and metal music, the bulk of what I listen to. The touch controls take a minute to get used to responsive, but it’s easy to quad tap vs triple tap and end up with blasting music instead of turning it down. The volume level is acceptable. The fit on the earbud is also acceptable it’s secure for walking and general activity, but I would not feel comfortable jogging in them or mowing. Noise canceling is ok, it does drop outside noise down, but with the buds one size fit, no interchangeable tips, the ambient noise was just always a bit there with the fit in my ear canal. I have been a fan for all my life of jvc products, these I like, but I can only give them a 4 out of 5. They are simple, easy to use, noise cancellation does work some, but the fit and the sound quality deduct half a star each. I would almost deduct a full star for sound because there are several at this price that have better fullness to the sound, but the noise cancelling does help, these. I can only give full stars, so I rounded up. They got these mostly right, and at the price, very good to try and feature this. I do reccomend these if this is the price you have to stuck to. You get a quality product that works well, built fair, and should last. If you can spend about double this, there are many sets that crush these, one in particular set is a colaboration of 2 companies that ilI own and are killer. I will likely give these to my son who these seemed to fit better. A fair purchase.

The JVC Kenwood Gumy Premium wireless headphones with noise cancellation are light weight in-ear headphones. Each ear bud can be worn independently or as a pair. Each earbud has a mute function; however, the volume function is controlled by the left earbud and noise cancellation is controlled by the right earbud. There is also the touch to talk feature. The instant charge feature allows for 10 minutes of charging for 60 minutes playback. The carrying case also acts as a charging point. The carrying case takes two hours of charging to a full charge. Each earbud also takes two hours for full recharge. The battery life in earbuds is a max of 9 hours and 7 hours with noise cancelling activated. Also provided is a USB Type-C charging cable and 4 silicon earpieces extra small, small, medium and large. The silicon earpieces fit comfortably in the ear and can be worn for hours without discomfort. The weight of each earbud is negligible and causes no discomfort in the ear. The carry case also has a strap holder for your use to clip it.
The sound quality is excellent, and the noise cancelling is ok.

Decent for the price

For the price, these are decent. What I like the most about them is the fit. For some reason, they fit wonderfully in my ears. Both ears to be precise which is big for me as my left ear has always been the problem ear when it comes to ear bud fit. I know that is a personal thought but I just wanted to share my joy!
The buds and the set look good but is actually quite plasticky. It gives okay noise cancellation but considering the price-point, it delivers within limits. The noise cancellation is not crisp. Microphone performance is decent and much better indoors. Call and voice reception get hampered in windy conditions. If you want to use it to make and receive calls , there might be some better options out there even at this price point. Indoor use is good. Podcasts, music, etc. are all nicely rendered but the sound is never too wholesome.
Battery performance is good. There is a provided USB-C cable that is one of the shortest I have ever seen. I could not find the app and that might be limiting to some but the provided paper gives vivid instructions of the sound control taps, which could have been more intuitive.
Recommended and you should be happy with your purchase if you understand the expected limitations at this price-point.

Great Earbuds, tap functions are finicky

These earbuds are a great value for the price.
Some of the highlights:
1. Great fit, they provide a lot of different size earpads, even ones for narrow ear canals. This is probably the best fitting buds I've ever had as a result, they stay in very well.
2. Sound quality is great for a value pair of ear buds and the noise cancelling is also surprisingly good. Not as good a over the ear headphones, but for earbuds, I wasn't expecting too much, but was happy a lot of the background noise in my office was suppressed.
The downsides all have to do with the tap functionality. It is easy to accidently turn off noise cancelling when tapping to skip tracks and voice assistant needs 4 taps to enable and only allows for 1 command after tapping 4 times. Some customization via an app, or an having each earbud enable a different function when tapped would have been a much more user friendly way to handle this.
Overall very happy with these inexpensive earbuds that I will use at work and maybe the gym.

The JVC Gumy Premium HAA23TB - Noise canceling true wireless headphones are a really good deal for the price. They compete above and beyond any other earbuds I have tried in this price point. The sound quality is really good, the fit and finish is top notch, the included accessories are well built and work well also. I really enjoy the touch commands, they are easy to use and remember, plus for a lot of the commands the buds will chime in with a pleasing voice and let you know what you changed. The blue tooth range was typical, I could leave my phone on my toolbox and walk to either side of the warehouse and still have my music. It even worked really good when I go into the office area. The comfort is really good also. I could wear these for hours at a time and never feel any pinching or tenderness. The only thing I experienced was the JVC logo is supposed to be upright and flat, and the little stem is supposed to point downwards, but in my ears the stem pointed forwards when I adjusted them for best sound and comfort. The Bass response is a little bit light, but I also didn't experience very much distortion when cranking the volume up. The noise canceling wasn't the best IMO, but the pass through worked well. I would recommend these to anyone who wants good quality and sound without spending a lot of money. These are perfect for anyone who isn't allowed to play their music or podcasts out loud etc..

Solid sound and premium fit in a a compact headset

On the whole, these JVC Gumy's are a really nice true wireless headset with solid sound and more adaptable fit than competing options all in a very small package. The headset earbuds themselves are fairly compact and the come with four (instead of the more typical three) options for size which allows you to really dial it in the way you want (I used the second smallest for a great fit that's comfortable and stays put even while moving around a good bit). The seem to be physically well made and should prove to be fairly durable in use.
The sound quality is quite good - comparing favorably to much more expensive true wireless headsets in my opinion. The sound pickup on the microphones is also good and the filtering of external noise is solid. Pairing the headset to my phone was quick and easy and I was up and running very quickly.
The charging case is quite compact (easily pocketable) and seems to provide a good (and quick) charge. And the earbuds are easy to put in the case and to remove.
So if you're in the market for a new set of TWS headphones, these are a great option to try. Check them out today!

Good Noise Cancelling for the Price. Great Value

I've been using the JVC Gumy Noise Cancelling earbuds for about a week now. The Gumy's (why 1 "M" I will never know) that have the more complicated full name of HA-A23T are JVCs Premium Noise Cancelling earbuds. If the box you get
- the JVC Gumy's and charging case (USB C charging)
- a short USB A to USB C cable
- some different sized eartips
In the instructions, I also discovered they have a full 1 year warranty - which at this price point is VERY good.
The Gumy's paired to my iPhone fast, there was no prompt to download an app. When I was adjusting them, I discovered they have touch controls, where the JVC logo is - so you can tap the right one to turn noise cancelling on/off, etc. and the left can used adjust audio an2005180205180d bass mode. I would recommend turning on bass mode (long tap on left).
At first the Gumy's a little uncomfortable, they have medium tips by default. I ended up switching to a slightly smaller ear tip. There's actually 4 different tips in total (including the 1 already fitted). So you can get that perfect sweet spot.
As for noise cancelling, while JVC call them "Gumy Premium" and the noise cancelling is good, it's not great. This is where I am trying to be fair and reasonable, at this price I'm not expecting $200 quality noise cancelling. For light background noise, a fan in your office, they're good. I tested them on the subway, where they offered more above-average noise isolation but not what I would call great noise cancellation. But for the price, hard to fault - I mean I have seen non-noise cancelling earbuds at this price, so it's worth picking the JVC.
In terms of audio quality, for the price - it's very good. Call audio is great, with no issue for me or the person I called. Music playback is very good and was MUCH better when I turned on bass mode. I was impressed with the responsiveness of the touch controls for skipping tracks. At this price point, this is a nice touch and good value.
Overall, for the price, these are good value noise cancelling earbuds, especially for office environments if you want to block light background A/C noise, or at home if you want to silence a fan. I plan to use the Gumy's with my Switch 2, when I play at night - as my partner doesn't want to hear Mario Kart while they're watching TV. So for me, very happy with these JVC Gumy's (even if I want to call them Gummys).
