With countless options in the world of headphones, it can be hard for a product to stand out from the crowd. With the HAS33UCB model by JVC, I believe that the brand has produced a great product that combines good sound quality with innovative features, at a reasonable price. One of the first things I noticed about these headphones is their compact and lightweight design. The ear cups are small, meaning these are "on-ear" headphones, rather than full-size "over-ear" headphones that enclose the ear rather than sit on top of it. The benefit of their small size is that they weigh almost nothing, meaning I've been able to wear them for hours with no fatigue. I was worried about them being on-ear, but between the light clamping force, and soft ear pads, they don't hurt my ears, even after extended listening sessions. I can't say this about some headphones I own that are much more expensive, so kudos to JVC for this accomplishment. The build quality is also pretty exceptional for the price, as these are primarily plastic headphones with a bit of pleather for the earpads and a rubberized-type cable. During my testing, they haven't creaked while I wear them and move around, which is a big plus. The extenders that allow for a custom fit stay in place once you adjust them, which again, some of my pricier headphones don't even do this as well. The plastic feels well-made and high quality, and while the ear pads are shallow, they do their job just fine. One really nice feature of these headphones is the USB-C connection built into the cable. With the classic 3.5 mm jack slowly disappearing from our daily devices, this seems like a good call from JVC, and it has been really great to not look for a dongle when I want to use my headphones. The connector itself is robust, along with the well-made cable, which also has volume and track controls, and a mic “mute” switch. As for sound quality, I’ve been very impressed with this set by JVC. While I found the overall volume to be a bit softer than comparable units using a 3.5 mm to USB-C adapter on my phone (which is an Apple iPhone 15 plus), the actual quality of the sound is exceptional. The bass is slightly emphasized, but not overdone, and doesn’t crowd out the mids or highs, which is a common flaw with many modern headphones. The mids are mellow and present, with vocals and acoustic instruments sounding especially great. The highs are clear and crisp, but thankfully they're not harsh or fatiguing, which is something that can dramatically shorten how long I can listen to a pair of headphones. Overall, I was pretty blown away by how well these headphones reproduced the majority of my music collection, which is mostly imported from CDs in an Apple Lossless (ALAC) format. I primarily tested these with hip-hop, rock, metal, EDM, reggae, and some classical music, as well as streaming content that included TV shows and movies. Again, the only downside I could find was that the volume is a bit lower than other devices I own. That being said, when these are pushed to 100% volume, they do not distort, and they actually can get reasonably loud. Because of this, I found myself simply pushing the volume slider just a bit higher than usual when I would use these, and that took care of the only negative I could think of. What else is there to mention? These aren't noise canceling, but they do isolate just a little bit of sound from the environment around you. The headband is completely plastic, but due to their lightweight, this is totally fine, as I never noticed any discomfort on the top of my head. The cable is not detachable, so if you destroy it, you'll likely have to purchase a new set of headphones. These things aren't even things I would necessarily change, just things I think potential buyers might want to know. At the end of the day, JVC has made a set of headphones that perform far better than I ever expected them to. This set has a sound signature that is composed and natural, and does a fantastic job of highlighting the details in my lossless audio collection. I’m honestly pretty blown away with the quality and value this pair represents in an endless sea of headphones, all vying for your attention. The JVC HAS33UCB should be at the top of your list if you’re shopping for some new, well-made, quality headphones, with exceptional sound quality that doesn’t break the bank. Final Score: 5 Stars!

Great for a wired headphone! Nice to have as a backup for when bluetooth isnt working!

TLDR: JVC produces a high quality, Model HAS33UCB wired, on ear headphone, using a USB-C plug which allows use on computers and mobile phones since USB-C is now universal on both types of devices. It is lightweight, great sounding, usable for calls with a built-in microphone and volume controls, and never needs to be recharged. They fold flat. Why buy a wired headphone? One reason is never having to worry about the charge depleting during a call or video meeting. Another is that there is no need to carry around another cable or charger block to charge a headphone. Lastly, wired headphones just sound better in regards to not using bluetooth limitations as to sound quality. These JVC headphones are comfortable although they are not “over the ear” and instead are ON the ears being they are round shaped. Whatever the ear foam padding is, it is comfortable to wear and use. The wire has a small module which has a slide switch which turns the built-in microphone on or off, increases the volume up or down, and a button allowing different functions for whatever is in use, such as answer or hang up a phone call, start or stop an audio file or other functions. It works fine. Being that these headphones fold flat, a wide variety of cases can be purchased to store and protect them online. JVC does not supply a case. I have the black version but it is also available in white or dark blue. The wire is approximately 4 feet long. The headphone is very lightweight at 4.5 ounces with the cable. I enjoy using it with my laptop and when I make Google Voice calls on my computer for free. I ask and am always told the audio from me is clear on calls. It reproduces streaming music from websites such as SOMA FM, Prime Music, Jazz Groove, Spotify and others with wonderful results. The only negative is the lack of any padding on the part that touches the top of the head. People with age related hair loss (we number in the millions and millions) will see an indentation on their scalp skin. It doesn't hurt but nevertheless it is from the unpadded headband. Adjust it so it sits slightly above your scalp. All in all they are wonderful headphones at a reasonable and low price.
