Great Value in These Over-the-Ear Headphones

If you're looking for a great over-the-ear headphones set that won't break the bank, check out the JVC Noise Cancelling HA-S57N.
This is extremely light set that you won't feel on your head when used for several hours. It's mostly plastic which is not a negative, but positive due to its lightness.
Using it with Bluetooth is extremely simple: just turn on the power button and you'll see these JVC headphones on your device. You're now ready to use them. Besides the power button, you get volume buttons and well as a noise cancelling or ambient sound mode to turn it off. It's your choice!
Sound quality is amazing with clear audio and profound bass. You can probably get better sound out of more expensive headphones, but the difference would be negligible.
These headphones are rated at 35 hours with ANC on and 50 hours with ambient sound on.
The HA-57N headphones can also be used for making phone calls with the included mic.
Sure, you can spend more on headphones. But you can't beat the value that these headphones offer.

These JVC OVER EAR ANC HAS75NB headphones have positively surprised me. JVC is a great brand identified with a good price/quality ratio and the headphones deliver a great nice sound, great wireless capacity, and (the best) active noise canceling functionality.
Some Pros of this model:
With a nice sound delivery, the headphones include three preset setups: base/clear/flat to accommodate the music to your preferences.
This is a superlight headphone with nice-sized cups that cover the entire ears.
Easy controls directly in your cups, for volume and noise cancellation. Also, select the preset setups.
A quite decent battery life with more than 30 hours (tested) of intense use.
Very decent mic, and the clarity of the voice while using the phone or in video calls is being appreciated by others.
Cons:
No possibility of a wired connection due to the absence of a jack port. I think that is some flights, I would appreciate the nice canceling at the same time I can connect my headphones to the flight screen.
The sense of fragility of the headband is linked to the limited one-year guarantee of the manufacturer.
No carrying case for a device that is advised for travel.
No power plug is included just the USB cable.
No app or additional software to tailor sound to your needs.
Only one device is connected simultaneously. This is a limiting factor while working and I need to change the connection between the laptop and the phone.
In a market with so many options for headphones, I found that this model in its simplicity is great for a daily commute in noisy environments while listening to music. Adding extra features is coming with an additional price tag and I could not be ready for.
I recommend it

The JVC HA-S75NB actually are not a bad pair of headphones. You get ANC, Ambience mode, along with AAC codec support for iOS devices. Battery life is impressive with up to 50 hours with ANC mode off, with it up to 35 hours. The ear-cups are comfortable to wear for those extended sessions. The only drawback for me was the quality of the audio playback, which is a shame since the bass was actually decent. Out of the box, they are defaulted to the flat profile. I immediately changed it to the bass profile. The overall sound profile is flat-sounding, but the mids and highs are missing some clarity. It kind of has this harsh sound to it. For the price, I was expecting a little more better sound quality. I did play it back from an iPhone to utilize that AAC codec. The app does allow you to create a custom EQ. I played around with it and it did help, but not much.
Overall, I think it’s worth considering spending a little more for better audio playback. Considered them if your priority is battery life.

Great cans for the Office

These are simple, light weight long battery life headphones with above average sound. These are perfect for those of us going back into the office and need to block out all the noise. They work well in the office environment and can double as a set of headphones for calls in a pinch.
Setup is easy, charge them up and pair them with your device. Though I will say the charging cord provided is one of the shortest I've ever seen and only works well as a backup when you can find a longer cord and can place them on the desk next to your PC or USB hub to charge. It would have been nice if the cord weren't three inches long and instead the usual three feet. That aside though the battery life is great. I've been able to get about 30 hours on a full charge with ANC on which will cover about three days at the office, a charge overnight and I can get another three days.
The sound is above average and fine of the office where you aren't as focused on the music in deep listening, they work well. The Microphones work fine for calls as I didn't get any complaints from my teammates when I used them for a few calls while my work headset was charging.
Overall these are a nice pair of wireless ANC headphones and I like them for the purpose I got them for.

Decent but not great!

I have had numerous sets of over-the-ear headphones throughout the years (along with in-ear earbuds too of course) & so I have a nice collection of headphones to choose from based on what I am doing, and what I am needing in that particular moment. And with that I have seen everything from really great to decent to even downright awful over-the-ear headphones.
So, where do these JVC HAS75NB over-the-ear headphones land for me? I would say they are OK...they aren't great, but they aren't bad, they are just a bit above average for me. Why is that, in my opinion? I think for me it has to do with a few things, which I will expand on below:
1. Fit
2. Sound Quality
3. Noise Cancelling Quality
Now, let's break each of those down a little further.
Fit
These do not feel like they fit my head well. They cause me to experience ear fatigue. What I mean by that is that they feel almost like they are too tight & too loose all at the same time. I do not know how they pulled that off but it does not feel good to me. I find myself just not using them as much as I thought I would after I got done testing them for a full week. Which stinks because I had a pair of over-the-ear headphones with ANC that I really loved but they got wet and so I've been searching for a replacement. And these JVCs just do not do everything I need 100% of the time.
Sound Quality
The sound quality to me just sounds flat. Even with using various apps on my phone and on my computer to play with various EQs it just sounds flat. That's the best way I could put it. They really didn't sounds to me like I had hoped they would with some of my other JVC headphones & earbuds from the past. Maybe it's me and my ears being snobbish? I don't know. They are sub-$100 and so I wasn't expecting to be blown away with how clear & crisp they sounded but I also was expecting a little better based on my experience with JVC.
Noise Cancelling Quality
This is where over-the-ear headphones, and even earbuds, are truly make or break for me. I can usually deal with the sounds quality issues of headphones/earbuds that I use by tweaking the EQ enough to make it at least passable for me. But when I want Noise Cancelling I truly want to have Noise Cancelling. When I was testing these out I could not really tell the difference between NC on and NC off. To me it sounded like they were the same. Which is a bummer because when I am out mowing the yard, or working on our cars, or when I am washing & cleaning our cars I want NC to be able to make the noise I am making to be but a muffle if not completely make it disappear and these headphones just do not accomplish this at all.
In closing, I can't see myself using these headphones every day, but I can see me using them sporadically if I don't need really good NC/ANC.
I truly believe JVC is a great brand, making good products at an extremely fair price point usually-I just wish these checked all the boxes for me. But it appears the hunt for the perfect Over-the-Ear headphones will continue for me.

Disappointed

I am struggling to like this product. The headphones are not awful but they don’t inspire me to make them a part of my daily routine. I think the headphone market is overcrowded and JVC has put out a mediocre product. There are a few nice features, but overall I can’t say I would recommend this product. Here are my thoughts.
Over-the-ear headphones are my preferred choice of headphones for every activity that requires headphones, except running, so I come into this review expecting to be happy with the product. JVC has used a form factor that is large enough for the ear cups to enclose my big ears while light enough to be comfortable over the long hours of wear. 7 hours into wearing them and my neck is not hurting but I’m annoyed at the buttons and the overall functionality.
The left-hand side of the headphones are the main power button and USB-C plug so they get touched before putting them on and see no action when wearing the headphones. The rest of the controls are on the right-hand side. I have no qualms with the volume up and down button as it is a slender easy to work with control point, but why is the multipoint button on this side of the unit? It has no place here and I found myself accidentally pressing the button when all I was wanting to do was turn the Ambient sound mode on and off. And what does the multipoint function button even exist for?
A trip the user manual revealed this button is JVC’s answer to automatic device swapping. For example while I am listening to music on my phone then I take a Zoom meeting on my computer I want the headphones to swap automatically over to the Zoom, then back to the music when the zoom ends. The multipoint function button helps with this transition, or should, in most cases I ended up hanging on the people who called me, or joined a zoom and never heard music again until I disabled and reenabled Bluetooth on my cell phone. The button is poorly placed on the headphones and the functionality it is suppose to enable does not work well.
The final two items I want to highlight are Noise Cancellation and audio quality. The headphones use Active Noise Cancellation which is off by default (how odd) and must be enabled by pressing the Ambient sound mode button. Active Noise Cancellation does consume more power so I can see the case for leaving it off by default but I feel like this should be user configurable. The noise cancellation is not all that great offering minimal audio relief from vacuums, garage trucks, and police sirens. I was unable to test these on an airplane. What annoyed me the most is that when Noise Cancellation is not in use it turns out the ambient sounds that my ears naturally tune out are amplified by wearing these headphones. If I have to keep the noise cancellation always on to avoid this ambient noise effect what good is having a button to toggle the feature on and off for? What about audio? How does music sound?
The lack of audio fidelity is what pushed me over the edge to declare what I said in the beginning: I am struggling to like this product. The default audio level was too low for any audio source I attempted making sounds feel distinct and muted. I had to crank up the volume on the headphones to uncomfortable levels to “hear” the music and the audio quality remained functional but not enjoyable. Drowning out ambient noise by cranking up the volume of the music is not what I call an effective strategy for Noise Cancellation headphones. Overall the audio fidelity fell flat.

My first impression was how crazy lightweight these phones were. I assumed they might be fragile. I was wrong (so far).
These headphones seem to be what one might get if one were to make a compromise in every facet of the design.
The earpads are good, comfortable over long periods, not too much tension in the head squishing department. The buttons are pretty conventionally placed and each (mostly) works the way you might expect.
ANC is… ok. I think the actual ANC in the headphones could be quite good, but sadly, whatever electronic wizardry is happening to attempt to cancel the noise, the cups on these do not have enough isolation to give us what most folks expect of ANC in 2024. One note, the ANC button comes configured out of the box with ANC on and ANC ambient, but the option to turn off the ANC requires you to use the app. Another example of hiding simple functionality behind an app. There are a couple of sound adjustments and a token/over-complicated three band “EQ”. The preset sound settings are very similar to one another.
Sound quality is ok, and that’s all we're getting. They are not tiring for long listening sessions.
Across the board, these are a well engineered budget over-ear that falls down in the most important facet of headphones, sound.
