Customers appreciate the Q150 Series 5.25" 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) for their amazing sound quality and impressively wide soundstage. The speakers are also praised for their beautiful, clean, and modern design, as well as their incredible imaging and impressive size. However, some customers have noted that the speakers require significant power to perform optimally.

Paired with a Q250C in a tight area (office desk) and mostly near field listening. Took a while to dial in with Denon AVR as they were a bit too bright and fatiguing in the confined space, but I blame my environment more and not solely the speakers. I do have paired with a sub and that helps greatly. They have decent lows but no way will fill a large space so the sub I think is necessary for most users. They do sound better through AVR playing newer, ATMOS music which uses Center speaker and my surrounds and height (Polk XT 90s) but feel a bit fatiguing when acting as front only in stereo. Very good but not blowing me away. Happy with purchase. 5 stars for the Q250C though as I love that speaker and has made a world of difference.

My review is based in purchasing on sale for $350. These are clear, cohesive, full bodied speakers. I use these on my desk, sitting less than 2 ft from either speaker. Sitting that close, with typical multi driver speakers there’s timing difference between sound from each driver arriving at the ear. The coaxial driver eliminates this issue and makes everything sound cohesive from close distances. The highs are clear and crisp yet not fatiguing. The treble reminds of the Klipsch r50p mk2 relative to extension but with a much smoother presentation. Mids are clear. Bass is good, not great. Even at a desk I use with a sub. Horizontal dispersion is is great. Vertical dispersion pretty narrow. As long as you you ear is in relative vertical alignment with the tweeter you won’t miss anything. I’ve had my fair share of bookshelf speakers: Emotiva b1+, JBL studio 530, Q Acoustics 3020, Fyne Audio F300, Elac Debut 5.2, Klipsch r50pm mk2 and Rp60m mk2. I think I like these better than all of the above. Also, I’m a “grills on“ guy, not with these.I love the look of the driver and matte finish gives a nice understated look. These speakers are lighter (weight) than expected. I expected a heftier speaker but was not disappointed I hooked them up.

Excellent value for the money. Replaced my old and crap for rock music Koss speakers that someo know it all recommended 6 years ago. These new ones are top notch and for $299 a pair they are on par with $8-900 a pair speakers. Highly recommended. Super easy to install, make sure you have speaker cables as they don't come with one.

Paired with a Denon 600ne amp these are amazing. Tremendous soundstage for a small speaker. Bass response is very good in a small room a sub is not needed. I wondered about the Uni Q set up but it delivers great bass and the clarity is excellent. A steal at $299. Buy them before they go back up!!

Sounds great but do recommend a center channelnor 3rd bpokshelf speaker as a center because movie audio mixing makes it hard to hear dialogue at low volume hut for music amazing standalone

I have to admit I got these when they were selling 50% but WOW!!! I am now a major KEF fan and have Martin Logan, B&W, Def Techs. LOVE, LOVE the look and thus not buying the grill. Use with a Denon AVR that pushes plenty of power to my 7.1. Best used in smaller rooms as they don't have the ability to fill bigger rooms like the Martin Logan and B&Ws.

I've always liked Kef speakers (although I own and prefer Bowersd & Wilkins). When I saw these on sale for half price I jumped at upgrading the speakers in our secondary system. I wasn't disappointed. Although no speaker this size will have really good bass they are surprisingly satisfying for casual listening. The kids and highs are quite good and on good speaker stands they project much larger than their diminutive size. Well worth the $300/pair paid.

I have been a KEF fan for a few years. I have been looking at these for a few weeks, and was pleased to finally get them for an outstanding open box price. They were in perfect collection, and filled my side surround position perfectly. One thing is annoying about KEF - it charges extra for covers, which is obnoxious.

Amazing speakers for the price! I paired them with a Topping E30 DAC and Yamaha AS301 integrated amplifier and an SVS SB1000 pro subwoofer. They sound phenomenal, crystal clear audio. Highs are very clear with no distortion. Imaging is decent. Improves with toe in. You need a sub with these as the bass is not strong enough and they work well in smaller rooms.

    Best bookshelf speaker I've bought

Found open-box version of this Kef bookshelf with great reviews so decided to give it a try. These are indeed one of the best speakers I've heard and I've used bookshelf speakers from B&W, Q Acoustics, Wharfedale, Triangle, and Heco. These Kef Q150s clearly win them with balanced sounds especially with clear and smooth highs. Mid-range performs excellent and bass is decent. These speakers allows hours of listening without fatiguing your ears which happens to some other speakers I've used. For speakers with this size is amazed to sound this good, I do recommend to pair a subwoofer with these speakers for better bass output. I highly recommend them for stereo listening or home theater setup.

Crisp clear highs, great imaging and separation and surprising bass given their size. Not sure I can justify the purchase of the newer Q1 Metas with these being SO good! Wouldn't pay full retail But at 299 these are an absolute solid buy!

    Unbelievably good desktop speakers

I picked these up on the recommendation of a colleague to replace what I had considered a pretty good desktop computer speaker set and WOW - the difference isn't even close! When positioned correctly you're able to experience so much more of the music. I'm powering them with an AIYIMA A07 desktop amp, which comes recommended from the Audio Science Review forum. To connect to my computer I'm using Apple's $9 USB-C to 3.5mm DAC/adapter. I have the amp's volume set to ~60% and otherwise control the volume from my Mac like usual. I had to play with positioning a little bit. Placed directly alongside my monitor facing straight forward I was sitting right on the edge of the sweet spot - I could easily get too close and lose the detail. A little bit of toe-in helps horizontally, but to make sure I always have the best seat in the house I got some desktop stands that lift them up 9", putting them just below ear level whether I'm sitting or standing. With all that dialed in, listening to these is worth every penny. Wait for them to go on sale for $300 (as they often do) though, and for under $500 you'll have an outstanding desktop audio experience.

This is the first time in my life that I bought a pair of audiophile speakers. All my old speakers were come with 90' mini HiFi system. I also have Bose Acoustimass 3 (2.1). The Bose was okay in a small or medium room but it was "lack of power" in my living room. Anyway, back to this pair of KEF. It sounds the best with streaming music and CD sources. I don't know the words to describe the difference but they will definitely give you a better class of listening experience. The white finish look great in a distance. However, it looks more like a "wallpaper" warp on MDF than real wood paint. It has linen pattern on the surface. One more thing, I don't know how to remove the plastic cap on the banana plug connector. I just connected them with the old fashion binding posts. Is it worth $300? I believe so. However, one of my friends would rather spend $300 on PS5 steeling wheel set than on speakers when I recommended Q150 to him.

A smooth and easy to listen to speaker with great mid range and balanced treble. Soundstage is excellent, the best I’ve heard from such a small speaker.I have these paired with the Elac DSA-101-G streamer and the REL HT1205 subwoofer.
