What an Upgrade....Amazing
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 2004 F-150 pickup, which until yesterday had the factory radio....pre-MP3, pre-Bluetooth, pre Android, Pre-Iphone/pod/pad.....it had Am/FM and played CDs. Bought this last week to come out of the dark ages, and learned at checkout the installer had just quit. Tried to call the next nearest Bestbuy (65 miles away), but no answer for 3 days. Woke up yesterday and decided to just throw it in myself. Soldered and shrink-wrapped all the connections to the wiring harness, ran the microphone wire, and voila....21st century tech in my 15 year old truck. Sounds great, Android Auto integrates everything in.....navigation, Bluetooth phone and music, address book, etc. very impressive. Download the whole manual...it comes with the quick start guide but the real one is 108 pages. It even updated the time automatically. Capabilities are almost overwhelming. I was going to spring for the one with onboard GPS, but this is actually better because my phone and Google Maps are always current, and I’ve used the phone for years for navigation...now I can just have the map broadcast onto the dash screen.

Clear screen with lots of functions
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Clear screen, lots of functions, clear screen when playing DVD's Cons: instruction manual lacks android auto setup, no remote. Purchased this unit as an upgrade from a previous Kenwood. I really like the touchscreen. Its clear to see on the brightest days. Also there's multiple functions including dvd player and backup camera capability. I've tried to setup the android auto function on my own since the manual doesn't mention it, but I haven't figured it out as of yet. Not a big deal though. There is no remote which would make it alil easier when driving. Overall, this is a pretty good unit and would recommend it to anyone who's looking to upgrade.

It seems to work fine have not had any problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well does everything I wanted it to do would not suggest that if you never installed one I would let someone else do it the installation kit is not as easy as they say and instructions are poor. Installed in 2004 2500 Dodge pickup

New Car Stereo Install
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terence at the Summerlin Las Vegas store was the BEST!!! The install was very clean, there are not any rattles after one month, this is always a concern when someone gets into the dash etc. He also spent the time with me at pickup to walk through all of the new features and answer all of my (there is not such thing as a dumb) questions. If anyone is looking for a new or replacement system in the Las Vegas area for their vehicle, I highly recommend Best Buy's considering Terence and his team for the in house install.

Another fantastic product and performs flawlessly. The touch is very responsive and layout is eazy to navigate while driving. A ton of sound options as well as custom accents. A great radio. Graphics are 4k tv quality.

I wouldn’t buy it again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stereo worked great for the first year. Now it will not connect to my phone. It cuts in and out on music. Attached is the picture that happens when I plug the phone in. I took a lot of time looking at and comparing stereos.

Generally happy with the purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit works well, the touchscreen responds reliably (unknown if that assessment will remain come winter... will have to wait and see!), the menus seem straightforward enough, it seems powerful with good audio controls/equalizer, the physical buttons work well, the bluetooth connectivity has been good and reliable and has worked as expected, the steering wheel controls (required add'l Metra Access ASWC-1 adapter purchase plus $59 adapter install labor charge) has been working as expected, and I am generally happy with the purchase. I have NOT yet, however, tested the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, so, if I am able to update this review after that stuff is tested, I may do so. FWIW, there *IS* the capability of manually updating the unit's software/firmware via downloading the new/latest version from Kenwood's site and then putting it on a USB stick, so that's good. Anyway, the one feature that I wanted, and even discussed with the sales/install guy about (the same guy did both), was some sort of anti-theft security, which I was told was included in the form of a security code that an owner could set that, upon the unit being disconnected-reconnected to power, would need to be entered for the unit to be functional. Well, this unit and model does not have that feature, and that fact has been confirmed by Kenwood customer support to me personally.

Excellent system
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great unit for the price, has everything you could need. The EQ option can be tweaked to what ever your specific listening choice is and stored under multiple user modes. The presets that come with the EQ make it easy to get your listening pleasure started. Apple CarPlay works as advertised. I have this in a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500. I paired it with Kenwood KAC 1814, 400 watt amp, small enough to be mounted behind the head unit in the dash, this keeps it out of the way and wire lengths to a minimum. I also replaced the 4-6x9 door speakers with Kenwood:KFC-6966R, inexpensive speakers but WOW what sound!!! The bass with these is incredible. I also mounted a KICKER - Hideaway 8" Subwoofer with Enclosure and Integrated 150W Amplifier behind the rear seat in a vertical position, this still allowed my drop in storage insert to be used without any modification. I left the stock dash speakers and this system has only improved their sound. I listen to a lot of hard rock and 90’s metal, I can not turn this system all the way up, IT HURTS, but the sound is incredible, Pantera never sounded so good. You don’t need a 1600 watt amp. I’m not trying to win sound competitions, just improve my ride down the highway. The stock rear camera still works and can be turned on while driving down the highway giving you a view of your trailer or that tailgater behind you. You won’t be disappointed with this head unit. The only thing I may do in the future as add another kicker sub in the back. Cd/dvd player works as advertised. As others have noted, the touch response is not very sensitive, but once you’ve used it, you get use to it.

Dual Zone Capable receiver! Android Auto & Apple c
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this Kenwood after a Pioneer avh-2550nex which was not capable of driving the rear audio video 7" screen in our 2013 town & country minivan. This Kenwood allows us to play music while the kids watch dvd's on rear ENT with wireless headphones. We love the Android Auto integration. Spotify,Waze,Pandora, Google maps, iheart Radio. Love the maestro steering wheel control integration which was a little pricey but worth it. Our uconnect button functions as the ok Google or siri button. Enjoy clicking button and saying Google play xyz etc. on spotify. We got the add on siriusxm tuner as well. Great in store promotional deal @$369.99 with free professional installation. The bestbuy tech installed it flawlessly and is 110% better than oem uconnect touch-screen system. The microphone was placed just to the left of rear view mirror. I would highly recommend this for vehicles with rear seat systems. Can't comment on Apple carplay since we don't have apple but should work pretty good. Has that look like it was factory installed. There are so many audio controls you can tweak everything including 13 band eq.

Another home run from Kenwood.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my 4 year old double din Kenwood hu with this one to benefit from the newer upgrades. Android and Apple play are super features as are the higher resolution in the screen. Small things like improved Bluetooth and sound quality are a breath of fresh air. The system sounds much better than the previous deck and the Bluetooth is much, well, smarter than the old one. My only gripe is when I’m tethered to the unit to take advantage of the car play features I cannot use the music that is downloaded to my phone. I can use a couple music apps but I have tons of music on my phone for a reason lol. Perhaps there is a work around, I’ve not tried to figure it out yet. This deck is absolutely outstanding.

Great head unit and I love the front facing camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this stereo myself in my wife’s 2002 Chevy Tahoe. Obviously we had to change the dash and bezel to make the double DIN unit work but it has been excellent. I just recently installed the front facing camera. The functionality is actually pretty impressive. If you are going to use the front facing camera I would try to find one that has the ability to reverse its output. The one I installed does not so it is backwards with regards to turning etc. but that is a small gripe and does not take away from its utility. Overall from what I’ve seen this is a great head unit and will probably put it in another one in our other vehicle.

Perfect Stereo w/ Apple Car Play
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this stereo installed in my 2020 Dodge Journey. The technician that installed it did a flawless job! It looks like it came with the vehicle. I love the Apple Car Play. It is so nice having maps, SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify, and Bluetooth in my vehicle! The only issue that I had was with glare off of the radio from the Texas sun. I couldn’t see the screen at all. I did end up purchasing a 6.8” anti glare phone screen protector that was meant for a Samsung phone. With the protector, it has helped tremendously with absolutely no glare. Just something to help if you have glare problems with the stereo screen. I definitely recommend this stereo!

Great except CD got stuck the first time
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like most everything about the unit. However, the first CD I played refused to eject and the manual wasn't any help. I finally found a trick on the web that worked. It also took some research to figure out how to eject a CD as the button isn't apparent until you hit the button with 3 lines. Once I started customizing the screen and sound, I was pleased with the unit. Using Apple CarPlay, the microphone and speaker are great. One of my friends said talking to me on the phone was like I was sitting at home and talking. I do have one complaint about Apple CarPlay when using Waze. Sometimes, the verbal directions are sharp and clear and other times, they are soft and muffled. This is with the unit pausing the music I'm playing to say the directions. I wish that some of the menu items were on the screen instead of having to work my way through sub-menus.
