    When I purchased this item, I did not realize that the power cord had to be connected to the car's lighter socket. By the time I realized that was the case I was past the 15 day return limit. The power cord plug in end is 6 inches long and if plugged into the dash socket obstructs one of the cup holders. In addition, recent model cars have USB ports, not lighter sockets on the dash. Using the socket in the console is the only option and that socket is always on.

    This is an excellent dash-cam. HD with all the bells and whistles. Crystal clear playback, both audio and video. The only down side is the windshield mount. It is permanently mounted. That's minor for me, but may not be for someone who moves from vehicle to vehicle.

    But, stringing the cord across the dashboard is impossible. So I used "Contact" hooks to the windshield. So far, so good.
