This single product saved me almost 15k in auto repairs. Last year we had major rain in Los Angeles. Flooding everywhere because our infrastructure is not good for anything wet lol. I drove into a flash flood and bang! Water was sucked I to the engine. Because the insurance company saw the footage of an unavoidable situation, they paid for a new motor. This camera was the best thing I ever bought from Best buy. It also records my horrible singing in the car. Nice.

Super simple to set up (plug and play). I did have to buy my own SD card for storage. Excellent for the price. It does exactly what I bought it for. Get it hardwired in your car tho if you don’t have electrical knowledge yourself. I haven’t messed around with it much but it is simple enough.

Nice camera, poorly written control software.

The camera works well, but the control scheme does not. Kenwood doesn't give you a full user manual, so you have to get it online. Not a big deal, but the manual seems incomplete. for example, there is an odd "charging" icon on the control screen, but there doesn't appear to be a battery as the camera turns off when the car is turned off. I can't figure out why there is a charging icon. The SD card that comes with the dashcam fills up after a day or two and an error message keeps popping up and you have to be stopped, turn off the recording function and navigate the menu to delete unwanted files. There is some weird mode thing that makes this a hit-or-miss thing. It should be possible to configure the memory so that older files are automatically deleted. I also periodically see a yellow lock icon that is supposed to protect files, but I have never turned that on, it just appears. Summary: poorly written software.

My only complaint is that it does record behind you, and the cabin. Everyone should have a dashcam. Especially on that also records GPS, direction of travel, and rate of speed. This has already saved me from two terrible drivers and two lying cops.

I got this about 2 months ago and it is in a big work truck that I don't drive all that much. After getting T boned by a semi while I was on a motorcycle 4 years ago, I never travel anywhere without a dashcam running. In the few timesI have used the truck this camera is in, I have seen several stupid things other drivers do like pulling out in front of larger trucks and going nowhere. I was able to avoid and accident but if something were to have happened, I'd be very glad to know that this camera would have filmed exactly what happened. When you go to court to sue someone for their mistakes, it's great to know you have the proof you need to win your case. You know what they say; " the camera never lies." Now it's no longer your word against theirs. Great camera, I love it and recommend it.

Dahs cam was I a nice package, typical good quality from Kenwood. The device and everything that came with it, was good quality too. They give you two options for mounting it, so that is nice. Set up is a breeze, smart phone app uses WiFi and if you are trying to turn it on, you might move the camera itself. Not a huge deal. Big deal breaker is that it only supports the one camera, so you can’t hook up a Kenwood rear camera. Kinda dumb, they allow it on more pricey items so that’s that. I’ll be giving this to my girlfriend and I’ll be buying the 4K model(that I don’t want but I want the rear camera).

Good value for the price. Picture is clear. The settings for loop recording give a few options for length of recording and number of recordings saved to the sd card. A little difficult to disconnect the power cord from unit without disrupting the camera position mounting. It's a little tricky using the spp to view recordings as app instructions are not very clear.

Best Dash Cam I’ve Owned

So far one of the better dash cams I’ve had. I like the mounting system, very easy to remove and install the camera. I really like the styling and button layout. Good video quality and I like the imprinted info on the videos. My only complaint is the auto protect is too sensitive even on the lowest setting. Minor road bumps triggers the protect feature. Overall I’m happy with the camera. I did get the KENWOOD wire kit and hardwired it to the fuse box.

This is easy to set and use camera. The video quality is amazing for such a small device. The tech did tell me I would need to get a sim card but the device came with a card that is easy to remove and clear off the video file.

Have had a few close calls with wildlife living in New England and seeing the video afterwards while sharing with family and friends who are back west to show just how scary it is driving at night where I live. Glad nothing has seriously happened but I know this will help if it does.

While this had great picture it did have it’s flaws. At first the WiFi feature did not want to connect to my phone, took me a while to get it to connect but when I did it was a nice feature. The only real issue I had with it was that you cannot get it to connect to the rear camera (sold separately) that you can purchase with it. It recommended it on the website and says it’s compatible. The plug won’t fit at first, you have to mess with it and when you get it plugged in it won’t work. Customers service for kenwood is a joke. I ended up returning the camera at the end.
