I installed this (actually Geek Squad installed it) to get more punch from a Kenwood HU and some Pioneer speakers (60 watt RMS). I could tell they gave the music more life at higher volumes, but not much at low and mid volumes, where I listen most of the time. I asked my installer if they gain could be adjusted. He said no and that if I was unhappy I could try the Alpine Power Pack 445U (manager gave me a price match since I was unhappy with the original purchase). The Alpine has adjustable gain and wow what a difference. It took a week to get broke in but now the music even at low volumes really comes alive.

I needed something that would add a little more bass to my Rockford Fosgate speakers that require a lot of power and this powerpack definitely adds the bass what I was asking without requiring so much power as a regular amp and that it would require more wires and install would of made it costlier.

Besides the fact that the Best buy installers could not complete the install of what is and should be a simple power amp, the amp isn't that great either. I took the thing to an independent shop to get it installed and at first I was happy with the sound but within a day I realized the speakers would intermittently shut off, something the stock Ford amp never did. Besides the intermittent dropping of speakers, the whole unit gets hot and shuts down, needing a power off/on to cycle it.

Very dissappointed....sound kept going out at high volumes...reinstalled and redid wiring to battery and ground...thinking at first it was the install causing the outage. Exchanged it for the alpine ktp-445u and the problem was solved. Better sound and no clipping. Think this was more due to the fact that the alpine is a class d amp versus the ab amp that kenwood is. Kenwood is okay at low to mid volume...but then why buy an amp? That is why I gave it 1 star.
