Also, the heating element shuts down within two minutes of making one cup. Therefore, I have to turn the power button back on every time I make a new cup.

For energy savings, your machine is set to turn off automatically 60 seconds after your last brew. I can only set a timer for the kcup and NOT the pot. Should be able to set it for both. It also doesn’t have a setting for strong coffee for both. Again only for the kcup.
