It makes excellent coffee. However, strangely the AUTO feature that one would expect is set up to make coffee at a selected time (like in the morning) works only on the single-cup side, NOT on the 12-cup side. Had I known about this shortcoming, I would not have purchased this unit.

Also, the heating element shuts down within two minutes of making one cup. Therefore, I have to turn the power button back on every time I make a new cup.
